We decided to check out Ty's Roadside in Mount Pleasant after seeing mouth-watering pics of their delicious meals on social media. We arrived at the destination, and we were lucky to snag the last spot behind their restaurant. They do have an overflow parking lot nearby in case their lot is full. Inside was calm and quiet, and we were greeted by the host. Our waitress attended to us, and she was very sweet and professional. Looking at the brunch menu, we were surprised by the little seafood fare as it's Mount Pleasant and all. The only seafood dish they have is shrimp and grits, I believe. Nonetheless, we ordered their breakfast bowl and the Reuben sandwich. Both were delicious, although I would say that the Reuben was missing that oozing cheese factor and that the meat portion was of modest size. It's better to go to McAlister or Jason's Deli for their Reuben instead. Otherwise, we had a great dining experience! It's a neat restaurant with pleasant staff, well-maintained indoor space, clean bathroom, and delicious food. If you're looking for a place to relax, fulfill your appetite, and explore the food scene in Mount Pleasant, I recommend Ty's Roadside!

Ty's really surprised me with how much I liked it! I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken, and the chicken was a solid 5/5 fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked. The only downside was that the salad came out uncut. I definitely think it would be better served chopped. I ended up making a bit of a mess with cheese and breadcrumbs flying everywhere while trying to cut the whole romaine leaves. We also tried the fried chicken sandwich, which was delicious , great flavor, crispy, and satisfying. The tots on the side were super good too! Overall, I'd definitely go back for a laidback causal spot.

Loved everything about Ty's! The coastal, casual vibe is super inviting, and the food is seriously impressive. We shared the mussels (so flavorful), waffle-cut chips, and street corn--all perfect starters. The triple grind smash burger was rich and satisfying, and the ribeye was cooked perfectly and full of grilled flavor. Generous portions, great service, and a fun atmosphere--definitely coming back!

Ty's Roadside is subtle on the outside but the food inside is everything but! This quaint establishment has all the good vibes. Great waitstaff and food that doesn't disappoint! The wood fired grilled half chicken is brined with honey and it melts in your mouth. Talk about fall off the bone tender... And impressively large! Serves with any two sides you want. You can't go wrong! The Parmesan grits, mashed Youkon gilded potatoes, collards, street corn ... I've tried and enjoyed them all! Definitely go with the Parmagranate Margarita! You won't be disappointed. Also, the Watermelon Smash was delicious. Literally tastes like Watermelon Bubbalicious, so if you don't dig refreshingly sweet, this drink isn't for you. Sad it took us so long to try this place out but oh so happy we did!!! And returned tonight and will definitely return some more.

As you drop into Ty's, you are greeted with a smile. Dropping in brings you that adrenaline rush. It's catching the perfect wave when the waves are firing off like canons. It is when there is the gnarliest swell. The food is amazing! The wood grilled chicken is delicious and a staple of Ty's Roadside. The chicken is cooked perfectly and able to be sliced through as a surfboard cuts into a wave. The atmosphere is really chill and has an awesome vibe. It feels like the perfect ride cruising through the water. The pomegranate margarita is like the sunset complimenting a rainbow after a light rain in Costa Rica. Dude!! Duuuuuuuude! It's rad! Even the environmental design is eye catching!

This is a nice place with good vibes. They have a good area for outdoor patio seating. Hannah was our waitress and she was sweet and friendly. We ventured in after the brunch rush which worked in our favor as their is usually a line when they open most Saturdays. For our appetizer, we ordered the meatballs which was served with toast and ricotta on a bed of grits. So good! Then we ordered two pizzas. The piggy and the Bea and the mushroom white. Both were delicious. I also had the peach margarita which was tasty as well. Good visit, good food, and good experience!

We went to Ty's Roadside with a group of girls after discovering it on Resi! I love the feel of the restaurant- the vibes were great and our server was awesome- he was chatting with us about all things Southern Charm . The food and drinks... were seriously AMAZING!! Every single thing we ordered we were all amazed with- no critiques. The flavor was top tier and the menu has so many choices. The hot honey margarita, hush puppies and crab cakes are a MUST get!

This was my first time dining at Ty's Roadside and it was amazing! Our server was very friendly and accommodating. We had requested a booth. Reservations are recommended. The ambiance is light and pleasant. Atmosphere is adventurous and fun. Outside seating is available with TVs on patio. I had the backyard smash burger which was delicious. There was a vinegar-based sauce that truly enhanced the flavor. My mom had the wood-grilled half chicken with collards and Parmesan grits. I tasted it and it was excellent. Such a delicious smoked flavor. My aunt had the Tarvin shrimp toast which she said was fantastic. I sampled the toast and loved the garlic/cilantro/lime gravy on top of the toast...excellent! Last was the brownie sundae, which was rich and dee-lish! A wonderful dining experience! Oh and clean bathrooms. Parking out back in lot, but it fills up and gets flooded in the rain.

    Excellent Caesar salad!

We had Macie and Maddie as our servers this evening. Everyone was accommodating and friendly with our 2 dogs that were clearly in their way as they worked! Macie explained every question we had about the menu and had great insights on customer likes and dislikes. She was helpful in steering me to the southern faire I craved. My husband and I shared the most delicious Caesar salad! I had the chicken sandwich (board) with the creamy Parmesan grits... I think the grits were my favorite part! Sandwich was tasty and messy as you would expect... My husband devoured the shrimp fettuccine. He loved everything about it "not too thick, was very tasty, and the mussels were really good". So there you have it. Excellent meal and service. Thank you ladies and good luck Maddie.

Sunday Brunch at Ty's Roadhouse. Nothing says southern breakfast like a good old chicken and waffles. Justin ate the whole thing I had their Roadside classic with sunny up eggs and substituted grits for tatter tots. It was all very good but I think the salt shaker top came off because there was so much salt on mine. Emma had the same thing and her eggs were fine. I'm guessing a little over salting fluke. Definitely worth the go. Oh and a Local Strawberry salad walked by me and oh yes - that'll be my next try!!! #tysroadside #sundaybrunch #charlestonfoodandwine

Double Smashburger and Grilled Street Corn

Back in Charleston = back at Ty's! I enjoyed the crab cakes so much! And I'm very picky with crab cakes but I cleaned my plate immediately. My husband got the grilled half chicken and that was a hit as well. The street corn and the hush puppies have been a hit every time. I sipped on an orange crush (not on the drink menu, I requested) and it was great! Another 10/10 service at Ty's!

It's now our local. Consistently good food and friendly service. Wood fired pizzas are wonderful. Need to call out fudge brownie ice cream sundae with caramel and nuts - one of the best anywhere.

What a beautiful evening at The Shellmore. A later evening…read moredinner gave the already intimate setting that much more ambiance. Starting dinner off right with some deliciously fresh raw oysters complete with a traditional "onion" mignonette, and then Chef Eric brought out a little special treat....the base was fresh lump crab meat topped with some chunked watermelon and the most light, fresh, delicious dressing & crunch. WOW. I could eat that all summer. Moving onto the main courses, a perfectly cooked NY strip & root veggies with a love boat of fresh sauces. Chimi, steak butter, and a horseradish crema. As if the steak needed any sauce, but with that trifecta?? I couldn't help myself. Incredible. The other entree, a risotto and shrimp. Incredibly flavorful, complete with crisp English peas. As I write this, I wish I had another plateful. The bartender is the Chef's little lady, & she was a GEM! I cannot remember her name, but she goes to estate sales, and thrifts the beautiful dishes and glassware that they use in the restaurant, which I thought was so neat! These two truly have put their heart and soul into this little place and you can tell. The menu is of a smaller variety, but variety for sure. Chef Eric changes the menu up daily/weekly, so you never know what you may get, and I think that is honestly one of the best parts about this place. You can tell they care, from the food to the atmosphere they have created. This one deserves all the 5 stars.

Even stranger, is that the restaurant was dead when we arrived. Our server dropped menus and asked what we'd like to drink. When we asked for a minute to review the wine list, she took that as 10 minutes to return. The burrata was a great starter even though it was served with an inadequate amount of toast points. No offer was made to bring more, even though there was an obvious need. The arugula Caesar was extremely salty. We liked the sardines throughout but there was no reason to add additional salt. The shrimp and lobster pasta dish was fine, nothing more. The Shellmore is in a nice little space at the front of I'on. Outdoor seating on the sidewalk or indoor seating at tables or the bar is offered.

I've been dining at Red Drum for over twenty years, long enough to remember when a last-minute…read morereservation on a Tuesday felt like winning the lottery. So when my family and I received some truly remarkable medical news this week, the kind of victory you save for a proper toast, Red Drum was the obvious choice. What better place to celebrate a long-awaited milestone than with familiar faces and a pork chop I've trusted since the era of dial-up internet? Well. About that pork chop. Two of us ordered the longtime menu staple. We expected the same giant, butcher's-best chop that has anchored the plate forever. What arrived instead felt like someone had rewritten a classic without reading the original. Gone were the lovely fresh tomatoes and potatoes, the bright bites that used to sing alongside the chop, along with the subtle demi that once tied everything together. In their place, Brussels sprouts were doing a full backstroke in an acid bath. And not, unfortunately, the fun kind of acid bath. I would have been fine with the sprouts but this sauce... The sauce was so sharp and dominant that it steamrolled the pork entirely. Since it made up the entire base of the dish, there was no escaping it. I later learned there were supposed to be potatoes mixed in, hash-style, but my portion must have pulled a vanishing act because not a single potato was found. My dining partner fared no better. Between the two of us, the equivalent of an entire pork chop went back to the kitchen. When we told our server the sauce tasted "off," she reacted with all the urgency of someone being told their shoelace is untied. There was no concern, no apology, and no curiosity. Our third diner ordered the salmon. He said it was very good, and the corn pudding was too, but even he missed the potato that used to round out the plate. For forty-one dollars, he said the meal felt "undercut," and I agree. When the most satisfied person at the table feels shorted, that is not great. Dessert was a bright spot. The hot butter rum toffee and the doughnuts hit the mark. By then, however, I was too busy fuming, more effectively than the pork, over the indifference that hung over the whole evening. No manager ever came by. I am not convinced our feedback reached anyone. By the time the bill arrived, it felt like our waitress wanted us to pay, smile, and scurry along. This was when the night took another strange turn. As she handed me the check, I asked about a familiar husband and wife duo who had served at Red Drum for years. They were beloved, memorable, and unmistakably professional. Anyone who has eaten at Red Drum even semi-regularly knows exactly who I mean. They were fixtures. I asked if they were working that night so I could say hello. The waitress casually told me they had been gone for some time and had left under "not good circumstances." That was when my eyebrows reached escape velocity. If you know Red Drum, the Red Drum of years past, you know that couple. You know the level of professionalism, the consistency, and the connection they brought to the room. You know they were not the "leave under not good circumstances" type. The comment felt off, unnecessary, and frankly a little concerning. It made me wonder what has really changed behind the scenes and what regulars will think when they read this. By then, curiosity pushed me to look around the room. It was nearly empty. It was 6:45 p.m. on a Tuesday. Yes, a weeknight, but dinner hour all the same. In years past, this place buzzed no matter the night. You could not get a last-minute reservation without divine intervention. Suddenly the ease of getting one this time made a whole lot more sense. I genuinely wanted this to be a triumphant return, a full-circle moment after a long illness and a day of wonderful news. Instead, it was a sobering reminder that somewhere along the way, Red Drum lost the plot, and maybe a lot more than its potatoes. After reflecting on our experience, I called the restaurant to share my concerns, but three business days have passed without a return call.
