My husband celebrating his 60th birthday
    Tsuelin Y.

Celebrated my husband's 60th at Golden Palace. The ginger‑scallion lobster with E‑fu noodles was spot‑on, the cold Royal Chicken was tender, and those garlic scallops disappeared fast. Snow pea leaves were fresh and simple. The crabmeat + fish maw soup hit even better after I added red vinegar. Hot jasmine tea kept us going. Simple, delicious, great service -- and for a Thursday around 8 PM, there were about five tables including us, which isn't bad at all.

Forgot to take a pic before I started eating! Came with a friend and my husband today and this is still the best dim sum place in Austin hands down! For the record, my husband and I are Cantonese and have had dim sum all over the world so we know what dim sum is supposed to taste like. They have squid ink hargow (shrimp dumpling) too! This is an elevated form of hargow that not all dim sum places have. Everything tastes really good. No wait when we went for Sunday lunch. There aren't a lot of carts but the staff are attentive in getting us tea/water. We got a high chair for my friend's baby who ended up falling asleep and didnt need it anymore lol. Conveniently located in Austin's Chinatown so there is plenty of parking.

A very solid dim sum location recommended by our friends. So glad we came and checked it out for ourselves, it was all so tasty! No complaints here. Plenty of parking in the parking lot, while it looked busy , we had no wait time, we were seated immediately as a family of 5. So many tables inside. We ordered half a Peking duck, combination fried rice, dim sum (xlb, shu mai, hargow) salt and pepper cod fish, green beans, pork ribs, all tasted great!

Authentic and great bang for your buck. It located in a bigger plaza of a bunch of Asian spots too. We ordered two dim sum dishes, green beans, spicy fish, and whole duck for 5 people - only $30 a person! The service is awesome and they apparently have dim sum carts during the weekend morning until 2 pm. Can't wait to come back!

A friend was in town from Houston and pinged several of us to see if we were available for brunch this past Sunday and we decided on dim sum. Golden Palace popped up as a good suggestion, so we met here. Fortunately, someone got there a bit earlier and got our name on the list because they don't take reservations. There was a long line of people waiting but we were seated within 15-20 minutes of putting our name on the list. There was some confusion as to best place to sit at the table to see the carts so we moved around a couple of times. The food was really good but ordering was confusing. The carts didn't come around that often and we had to flag our server down several times for the tea we ordered, cups, water, and questions on how we could order when the carts weren't coming around and we were hungry. They should have labels on their dim sum as the menu didn't always show the best photos of what was actually in the carts and it was not clear which carts had what items. Overall, we had a good time, the food was good, and the price was reasonable when split 6 ways! I wouldn't mind going back here again but maybe when it's not so busy and it's easier to get someone's attention and understand the multiple food options!

I didn't know austin had a legit asian town!! Do you want traditional push-cart dimsum? Golden palace is your spot. I went 30min before closing and there was STILL A WAIT!! Such a hot spot! I was worried there wasnt goingnto be food left but there were tons to pick from. I would like to go earlier next time because i felt like some of the dishes have been sitting for too long. Everything was still so yhmmy tho!

I went here with a few friends and right away appreciated how big the inside is. It's spacious and beautiful! Also, love the family style tables, makes it so much easier to share. We ordered a few items. The spicy chicken was solid! The breading wasn't too thick and the chicken was moist. The stir fried beef was really good. It was super tender and the flavor on it was fantastic! The lobster fried rice confused me a bit. The fried was amazing from the textured crisps in there. It was a game changer! The lobster pieces were a bit difficult to open and get the meat out though, it was a bit frustrating. Overall, it was a pretty great meal and I'd recommend giving it a shot.

Golden Palace is a great Dim Sum restaurant! Located in the exact same building as the previous New Fortune restaurant in the China Town Center. Spacious, friendly service, and delicious food. They offer cart services on the weekends, but "order by each item" on weekdays. The wait for these orders during the weekday is about 30 minutes, something to be cognizant of if you're on a time constraint. This place is very comparable to New Fortune 2. Both the gold standard of Dim Sum here in Austin!

We were craving dim sum and stopped by Tian Tian Golden Palace on a Sunday night. Part of the restaurant was closed off for an 8th-anniversary company event, so the noise level was much louder than usual. Checking in on the iPad made the process quick and we were seated within 5 minutes. The menu was a bit more limited than other dim sum spots I've been to, but what we ordered was solid. The wait for the food though was understandably long. The sticky rice in lotus leaf was the standout. They're stuff with minced meat, Chinese sausage and egg yolk. So yummy! The siu mai and dumplings tasted fresh and flavorful as well. Our server, Sean was really nice and attentive! Overall, it was a good visit despite the chaos from the event. I'd like to come back on a normal night to get the full experience and try their other dishes.

Consistently a good dim sum spot with push cart service. There is good variety. Service is fast and there's lots of seating inside.

This is such a cool experience. Dim sum served by carts is apparently the way it's supposed to be done, so it's great to have another spot in Austin where you can get that experience. If you don't know what you're being offered, it might make this type of dining a little intimidating. But if you either know the food or go with someone who does, then it's fantastic. Servers come around with all types of different dishes regularly and you just choose what you want. Everything untied was delicious. I really enjoyed their egg tart, which is not at all what I expected. It's dessert, but I wanted to pretend it was like quiche and eat it for my meal. The dining area is a huge unobstructed room, probably to make the cart service efficient. It got a little loud when they did birthdays, but a fun family atmosphere.

I really wanted to love this place. We love dim sum and we loved New Fortune when it was here at this location. We still like Shanghai and the new New fortune and I heard about this place and we had to try it. Our high school's Chinese class took a little field trip to this area which gave me the opportunity to try this place during a weekday lunch so there are no carts during the weekday lunch so slightly disappointed about that but not many places do that anymore unless you're in Houston, but I was still excited to try this place. It is beautiful once you go in. It is spacious! Truly a place where you can do weddings. It was really pretty and elegant so we really like that. However, the menu for dim sum for lunch is simple and we noticed it was very pricey. I think we're not used to that. Just having lunch at dim sum in Houston a month ago in comparison but if it was good, I wouldn't have minded and I really wanted to give more stars to this place and I will explain why I knocked off one star. I was gonna give it four stars because things were going pretty well even though it was pricey we decided to try out the things that we like at most dim sum places. The most basic things we wanted like the porridge and that came out first and it was good. We got the Hargow, Shumai, the shrimp rice roll, chicken feet, of course and our favorite. Ham shui gok. One thing that's good and also bad is that it came out one at a time. We are not used to that because most dimsum places have them come out all together especially if you're pushing a cart but here it came out one at a time so you get to enjoy it one at a time. A positive which I would have given more stars is that it comes out piping hot and I love that for dim sum. I also noticed that they use huge shrimp. They don't mince the shrimp. They stick it in there really big, but that does mess with the texture like for the shrimp roll the skin fell apart the Hargow, the skin fell apart, and I'm not sure if that's just a consistency of the rice paper or because they use whole shrimp. Not that I'm complaining it was good did enjoy it. It took some getting used to though because it wasn't as authentic that way but not bad. The chicken feet was OK. It wasn't the best I've had but it wasn't bad. A big reason I knocked out one star here was our favorite dim sum Ham shui gok, a chewy fried ball filled with meat came out raw. I know it's not easy to make, but it isn't hard for a good dimsum chef however it came out not done. It was not right. The texture was wrong. I took a picture of that. It wasn't even done and it was just not good and that is something for a good dim sum place to really get right cause even 99 ranch gets it right. Besides of that I deducted a star because it seems so odd they would mess up in that plus the waiters didn't seem like they really knew what they're doing. Not sure if they spoke Chinese or not. I asked for a certain tea in Chinese. They didn't really understand what it was and we settled on puer and that was fine. However, the whole experience was just dimmed because of that last dish that came out not done and for the price it has to be done. Other than that not sure I will come back here for dim sum because there's other places in Austin that are better consistently which is important. We really wanted to like this place. I might come back if friends are coming back so we can try again, especially their dishes which I'm sure they're fine, especially wedding events food which I'm sure is fine too. So this review is solely for their dim sum and the whole weekday experience too. On top of that I saw a kid just go around and licked chopsticks besides their table and they just left it there. I was wondering if the wait staff would do something about it and I was gonna say something but they just left it there ready for the next table yikes. So that was another negative for me even though this place is so elegant and pretty inside. Overall that is my assessment and I wish it could be more positive sorry.

They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. I ordered the Orange Peel Akashi Beef with a side of brown rice, and honestly, it is some of the best Asian cuisine I've ever had. I've seen reviews complaining about the price point, but you can't compare a wagyu steak to Texas Roadhouse, and you can't compare a sit-down Asian restaurant to a Chinese buffet. This is clearly a step above. You don't have to fully dress the part, but this is practically fine dining. Top tier service, top tier atmosphere, and top tier food. This isn't a casual noodle shop, buddy. Overall, it's an excellent experience and definitely worth the steeper price tag. I recommend Ling Wu if you understand that sometimes you have to pay more for a higher quality meal. If you're not that type of person, grow up, because you're missing out on some of the best Asian food Austin has to offer. RIYL: A great meal with a great atmosphere

We had reservation for an outside table but it was raining so they put us upstairs in the communal dining room. The room was beautiful with red lanterns and a giant one-piece wood table! Food was contemporary Chinese with American adaptation - but nevertheless well prepared and tasty! We had Peking Duck - ***** Pecan Shrimp ***** Sesame Chicken **** Beef with shishito pepper **** Green beans with garlic ***** Lychee mocktail ***** Service was superb! Prices are super reasonable for the quality of food!

I ordered hot and sour pork soup. I had never had hot and sour soup with meat. Portions were generous, ingredients fresh, and the food arrived smoking hot. The noodles were soft, smooth and flavorful. The pork inside looked like tiny meatballs. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. Because the restaurant is rather small, I had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. Jim, one of the owners, said if I had ordered 3 items it would take about 45 minutes, that's why I went with one. You could easily tell that many folks at the restaurant were regulars, which means the food, service or both were exceptional. Definitely will be returning to Three Gorges...

Family…read morestyle, big portions at a good price point. - Cumin Lamb: A heaping pile of thinly sliced lamb that is tender mixed in with cumin seeds, sichuan peppercorns, fresh cilantro, and red chilis. The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.
