What you see is what you get - an honest spot with good dim sum and bbq pork and duck. Was put grocery shopping which generally makes me hungry. This is a review after 3 different visits to the store to provide more completeness. The 3 vists were on different days too (Wed., Sat., & Mon.) to gauge service and food quality at different times. The review is also limited to foods tasted from the roast meats and Dim Sum only. I have included prices lists as of Feb. 2022. As of this writing in April 2022, the place only offers take-out. Service is fine for a mom and pop place. CASH only please. Dim Sum - Not all Dim Sum are created equal. There's the higher end high-end restaurant qaulity, and "Street Food" level of quality. Golden Daisy falls in the latter category. Having said that, the food ingredientss were fresh, though may be of a lesser quality. For example, the shrimp in the Shrimp Dumplings were very small (though there were many!) compared to larger shrimp in higher quality places. Shu Mai was mainly pork with no visable shrimp. There may be chopped shrimp in them but I can't tell nor am able to taste from the samples. The item size was large for these items. The overall quality and taste of these items were consistent over the 3 I was times there. The standouts for me are the deep fried dumplings, the Bean Curd Rolls (Slight quality consistentcy issues on this one.), and the rice dumpling ("Jung", not on menu.). The Bao dough and taste were very good, though there's way too little stuffing in them. The pricing was very good compared to other Dim Sum places, which I believe makes this place worth visiting especially. Roasts meats - Only tried the Char Siew and the Roast Pork so far. The former is nothing to write about. The latter had some quality issues, but the taste is actually pretty good. (The last time, the lady dripped sauce on the crispy skin of the roast pork, negating the crispy skin texture { SIN! ], and was drier than the previous 2 times.) Overall, I am pleased to have tried out this place, and will very likely visit frequently compared to other places for the Dim Sum. I believe there are places offering better Roast Meats however. Regardles, this place offers a better bang for the buck for the cost conscious. read more

Love this little gem on Beacon Hill! Don't let the unassuming and somewhat shabby exterior fool you. Inside you will find sublime BBQ pork, duck and crispy roast pork. The BBQ pork is lean, tasty and at $7 a pound, a real bargain. For around $300 you can purchase a whole crispy pig. This family run restaurant has friendly and attentive service. The portions are large and the prices are more than reasonable. Four of us could barely finish two dishes. Stop in and you will be sure to become a regular. read more

Review is only for catering experience - namely BBQ whole pig! In terms of presentation, serving the whole animal will surely make an impression on guests! We got a 30 lb piggie for hosting a wedding party for my sister. The restaurant is mostly BBQ takeout and they do have dim sum to go. It's really tiny and parking is virtually non-existent. The good news is that they will help you haul out the pig to your trunk if you park in the loading zone. As for the pig itself - amazing! Crispy skin and some if the most juiciest meat imaginable. All the guests enjoyed it and my uncle commented it was better than versions he had in San Francisco! 30 lbs of pig was quickly chopped up and distributed to the various families by the end of the day. Shumai, fried noodles, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, and puto are so delicious and quality (portions and cost) hasn't changed much since e COVID and recent price gouging months of 'supply chain shortage, gas supply shortages, inflation, greedy organizations & folks'. Always fast, always delicious, and such a good deal - $20 will usually feed 2 of us, often with leftovers. I get takeout from here at least once a week. It's been my experience that some of the best food comes from the unlikeliest of sources. Golden Daisy falls neatly into that category. Seriously great dim sum. Probably the best shui mai in town. The bbq duck & pork are stellar and fresh. And the prices? Like a budgie: cheap!!! The staff is sweet and accommodating in a gruff way. Again, you'll either love it or hate it. Solid lunch box for Chinese BBQ, Cantonese Chinese Food, and Dim Sum in the Beacon Hill area. I love supporting our local business in my hood. I usually get the BBQ Char Siew and Dim Sum when I do not want to drive to Chinatown. A hole in the wall small location with a big window displaying all the Chinese BBQ. They have a few tables if you want to dine in but I normally do take out from here. My daughter enjoys staring at the fish tank. The Char Siew is pretty tasty with good flavor and not too fatty. The Dim Sum are simple selection of har gao, siu mai, lotus leaf sticky rice, steam char siew bao, chicken feet, spareribs, rice noodles with standard beef or shrimp, sesame ball, and fried pork ball. Nothing really stand out but the chicken feet are pretty good and fried pork ball was also delicious for the price. I like that the har gao and siu mai are larger size portions. I didn't like the lotus leaf sticky rice, it has hard texture rice with peanuts...yuk. The prices were inexpensive to standard price range and the customer service is slow but it is a family owned business so I let that go because of the convenience factor. read more

Finally got to a dim sum breakfast here this morning. We have tried take out BBQ pork before (excellent) but this is the first time we had their dim sum. We ordered a lot of stuff for $1 or $2 and most of it was pretty good. Not super hot but it all came out fast. breakfast came to $17 for 2 and we couldn't eat it all. It is a such a small place that they can't do the cart thing like the big places which allows you to choose by just pointing. We were the only ones in there that ordered in English. A few people came in to order a duck or hunk of roasted pork to go. We gotta try that sometime. We also need to get their takeout chinese dishes sometime. The restaurant itself is small and I often see it full with big Chinese families or groups of old men. Way cool! The room is a bit tired with a weird half done painting on one wall, dirty windows, and a very sad fish tank that was only half filled with cloudy water. read more

This is probably the best place to get Dim Sum and Roast Pork in Seattle. Make sure you go there early or food sold out fast. Even though there isn't much choice of Dim Sum, but they only sell the classics and made in-house. Roast Pork is their signature, sometimes it just come out from the oven and you can still see smoke coming out. The exterior may not seem welcoming, but they have the best food there! read more

I live two blocks away and have lost count of the number of times I've eaten there. Their roast pig, duck and chicken are the best and cheaper than anything in Chinatown. Saturday mornings can be hectic with some items running out by noon. Dim sum selection is rather limited; I love the bean curd roll and beef tripe. I agree with other Yelpers that this place is a hole in a wall! They have BBQ meats that you can buy per pounds and variety of dim sum! I bought a pound of BBQ pork before (you can pick your piece or ask for how many pounds you want) and it was delicious!! Make sure you ask for a bit of extra sauce for the BBQ pork. For dimsum, my favorite would have to be shu mai (pork dumplings) and the big steamed hum baos (meat, egg, chinese sauage)! I think they raised their prices a bit, but it's still very afforable! The shu mai for $2.50 (4 shu mai - per order)! Hum baos are $1! Mini bbq porks are $1 for 3! Steamed rice noodle dishes varying from meat and veggie options for only a $1 a plate! Sticky rice buns wrapped in bamboo leaves for $1 each! I love that this place is very afforable. It's not really a place I would dine in (although there are tables for you to dine), since I always get a lot and bring it to go to share. I haven't tried any of the other entrees like the stir fried entrees with rice but I imagine them being very big fulfilling lunch plates! read more

The restaurant was mostly empty except for 1 person dining but a lot of people came in for to go orders. The lady told us we could sit down wherever and brought out plates and tea right as we sat. We ordered the typical dim sum- chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, and shu mai. Then we also got honey walnut shrimp and roast pork with a side of white rice. Everything was so cheap! We got our food pretty fast and we didn't really expect much since most of our dishes were only $1-$2. The shu mai to me was kind of dry but my boyfriend liked it. The shrimp dumplings were kind of bland but we liked it regardless. The chicken feet were under flavored which I enjoyed because I don't like how heavy other restaurants season their chicken feet. The roast pork was cut fresh but when she brought it out to us, it was...cold? We were confused but the skin was crispy so that was all that mattered. The last thing we got was the honey walnut shrimp which they deep fried with tempura batter (never seen before but pretty good). The sauce wasn't the usual sauce but it was still sweet and tasted good, and the walnuts weren't candied like they usually are at other places. I don't like honey walnut shrimp anyways, so I didn't mind it, but my boyfriend liked. Our meal came out to be about $27 which is not bad at all. It seems like this place has been here forever. They have good BBQ lunch boxes and cheap dim sum. They have siu mai, har gau, mushroom, shrimp and beef rice rolls, chicken feet, pork spare ribs, gin duey, bok hong tay and malaysia cake for dim sum. Most are priced at $2. The bbq lunch boxes come with stir fried cabbage. Sometimes I just eat a few pieces of the bbq pork or roast pig and just end up eating all the rice and cabbage cause it is just that good. Yummy. I had ordered their chicken and shrimp chow mein and honey walnut shrimp and they were all yummy. The chow mein can get a little too oily sometimes though. I've mainly have gotten my orders to go. I ordered some bbq pork for take out and they pulled it out of the warming-drawer below the heat-lamp case where they hang ducks, pork, etc. It was stored in a rubber maid tote. That is to say, the warming drawer they pulled the bbq pork out from was a rubber maid tote. Non-food grade plastic food storage just creeps me out.
