    Bugs floating in the soup
    Brian T.

Do you like bugs in your soup or congee, just floating around like it's enjoying its little spa? Yea, me neither. My wife and I caught COVID and we got a DoorDash from 663 Bistro. Upon pouring out the contents of the soup, my wife found bugs floating around. That's abhorrently disgusting and appalling. We're trying to recover from our sickness, not trying to get worse. Wash your vegetables please. Or just have a little bit of quality control for Pete's sake. If I could give this a 0 star, I would. Unless you want some special bites of unwanted bug protein, stay away!

In A Nutshell: -663 Bistro is a lovely Chinese BBQ joint. -This non-descript store offers up some hot & oily Peking duck (whole for $32 or 1/2 for $16.50). -They also sell pork. -The Peking duck can be chopped up into pieces w/ or w/out the head & packed to-go. -They accept cash or credit card. -Due to the popularity of this place by OG Cantonese speaking locals, you might have to wait a little bit while your ducks are cooked & cooled down. Overall, the Peking duck was very delicious, definitely worth the price & the wait.

2 Choice of Signature Chinese Style Barbecue Combo

We got their 2 combo box with crispy pork belly and roast duck and it was some of the best pork and duck we've ever had. The meat was cut right in front of us, and it was incredibly juicy and tender. Wish there was a place to sit, but we just ate in the car. Such great value, go support this business!

I been seeing this place pop up on instagram and Yelp for their bbq so I decided to give them a try. We got the 4 meat combo, which we got the roast duck, the roast pork, the bbq pork and the pork spare ribs. First off, the portion was very generous. That alone can feed probably 2-3 people. Roast pork: omg the skin is soooooo crispy. We didn't eat the food until 30 minutes later and the skin was still crispy. The meat was also juicy and there was definitely chunks of fat on them. Bbq and ribs: pretty standard. Not super tender, bit very flavorful. I think they are on par with Kau Kau Roast duck: I like that some of the skin has a subtle crispiness taste to them and was still juicy. Overall, it's a hole in the wall and it was delicious. I can see myself coming back to try their other food as well as their bbq. Their menu is extensive!

Roast Pork with Tofu over Rice

I've been coming to 663 Bistro for several years now, maybe near the time they first opened. This is a very honest assessment. I like their food. 5 Stars! I don't like their service, even at a "local Chinese" level. Yikes. In the past, when I had dine-in service, it was 'ok', depends on who's there. Today's take-out - very cranky people, just mostly stared at us. 2 stars. Their restaurant - it's a dump. 2 stars. Prices - 5 stars. Seriously. One of the best bargains and almost a secret. Even within the ID, their prices are amongst the best deals and portions are generous! Today's take-out: - Roasted Pork with Tofu over Rice - Large portion, delicious, lots of goodies. - Seafood Pan Fried Vermicelli - Large portion, this is my favorite dish in the entire menu. Great Chinese food has that wok 'scent'. This dish has it! - Curry Seafood, HK Style - Also generous portion with lots of seafood! I eat this over a serving of broccoli to make this healthier! During this COVID-19 period, please help out the ID and buy from one of these restaurants that are still open. 663 Bistro is one of them!

House chow mein with crunchy noodles

This restaurant needs a face lift and a deep clean that is for sure. So my review is based on 2 experiences, first experience is dining in at the restaurant, and 2nd experience is their Peking Turkey. Experience 1: 3 of us stopped in on a Sunday evening for dinner. The place was empty. We ordered: - House Crispy Chow Mein - 1/2 Peking Duck - Cha Sui Pork - Walnut Shrimp The Cha Sui Pork was a little different tasting than what I was used too. The duck was also just alright. I enjoyed the crispy noodles, Cody was not a fan. I enjoyed the shrimp but i have had better. Price wise, very affordable meal! So with experience 1, I would give it 3 stars. BUT.... Experience 2: This restaurant does this thing, where if you bring in your own frozen turkey ahead of time, they will cook it Peking Duck style for $1.50/lb and it is amazing! My friend has done it before and they said it was delicious. So we needed food for Christmas dinner and since we were flying in morning of Christmas and hosting Christmas Dinner that night at our house, we thought it be a good idea to order take out and the turkey for dinner! We brought in the frozen turkey a week before Christmas, place a few orders of other dishes, and they handed us a slip for day of pick up. You can either pay early or pay day of. We picked up the turkey day of Christmas. We cut into the turkey that night and it was so juicy! The meat was delicious. I highly recommend doing this if you don't have time to cook. It was so good. So 5 stars for experience 2, which evens this restaurant out to 4 stars for me!

Gotta write an update to my review because 663 Bistro came through for me on Christmas Day. Did you know that you can bring store-bought seafood to them and they will cook it for you? They cooked a 2.3 lb live lobster for me, just perfect for a pandemic Christmas dinner for two. I chose the ginger scallion sauce over a bed of yee mein noodles, and it was phenomenal. To go with the lobster and noodles, I also got the Fuzhou tofu topped with seafood sauce, and they have one of the best garlic green beans in all of Seattle. I always thought they were mostly a Chinese BBQ shop, but their seafood preparation rivals all the other Chinese seafood restaurants in the ID. Highly recommend! If you do decide to bring in your own seafood for 663 Bistro to cook, here are a few tips: 1. Call ahead and make sure they have availability to do it. Be prepared to wait patiently for them to have a break in other orders to clean and cook your seafood. 2. Make sure you buy a few other dishes from them to make it worth their while. They are doing it as a favor / customer service, so make sure you tip generously to reciprocate. Here's my updated rating of all the dishes we've tried as pandemic takeout so far: - Fresh lobster (store-bought) in garlic scallion sauce over yee mein noodles, 5/5 (I'd give it a 6/5 if I could!) - Fuzhou tofu topped with seafood sauce, 5/5 - Roast pork, 5/5 - BBQ pork jowl, 4/5 (tip: eat it before it gets cold otherwise it turns into jerky) - BBQ pork, 4/5 - Roast duck, 4/5 - Braised crab and dried scallops yee noodles, 5/5 - Garlic green beans, 5/5

They have some nice lunch combos, but sucks that they don't provide soup for takeout. Could substitute with a rice or something! I did get a chance to sample the delicate pork pieces and the flavorful rice. The slightly crispy rice at the bottom of the pot were so delicious. I had the Singapore style fried noodles. Really tasty. The noodles had so many flavors from the vegetables to the meats (shrimp, chicken meat & egg, and pork) and the sauce. Also, when did we start calling it, "The International District". If we had Mexican, Italian and other ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood, I'd get on board, but not only do San Francisco, New York and L. A. have the biggest Chinatowns, cities also have Barrio's and Little Italy's, so clearly cultures are ok with us specifying. A friend brought up Scallion Beef, so I did a search, Scallion Beef is sometimes called Ginger Beef, so H Bistro came up in my results. Initially, I wondered if H Bistro was Hong Kong Bistro and they rebranded, but HKB is still in business and around the corner and not very good mind you. Reviews for H Bistro are strong and the photo's convinced me that this should be a better than average meal. People talked about the lunch special and since I had a meeting downtown in the afternoon, I thought I could pop in here before my meeting. Once there I was sat. I didn't see lunch on the menu, so I asked and was told, lunch was no longer offered. Again, with no website, I had to rely on Yelp so despite reviews from 2024 talking about lunch, it's not longer offered. I got the Ginger Beef and asked if they did soup by the cup and was also told no. That is why Chinese Lunch is so popular, you typically get soup, rice, entrée and even an appetizer. That is a full meal. I just had my entrée and rice. I asked for chili oil and was brought a very small portion, It had good flavor, but no heat. The entree was good, but without soup and appetizer it just wasn't well rounded. Also, the food would have benefited from being served on a hot iron plate. Not only does it add sear, but it keeps the dish hot. Post meal, I had hoped for a cookie and despite being a block from the fortune cookie factory, no cookie was served. Would I return, sure, with a large group, that would be the only way to truly experience the menu. With 2 people I could have added soup and appetizer as the entrée is also large enough for 2. That said, this was one the cleaner places in Chinatown. That is not to say Chinatown is dirty, but many restaurants need paint, have old furniture or have water stains. This place was fairly nice inside and could be classy with a few more bucks invested. This place really shot itself in the foot by discontinuing lunch, despite being decent, there was just too much disappointment today.
