I wasn't sure if it was the same, but I'm always game to try someone's mama's comfort food. Literally a blast from the past. And when I say comfort, I'm saying I am crying uncontrollably every 10-15 minutes and this congee was so good I haven't shed a tear! Service is quick and tidy, and like most congee places this is for the food, you don't come here for decor. If you need a good place to get some comfort food, this is the place to go! On a cold blustery afternoon soup was on my mind and I remembered wanting to try this place out- we frequent happy lemon next door so we've passed by Canton Noodle House more than a few times. Was greeted and seated immediately with a welcome cup of hot tea and eating utensils. It was around 2pm so the dining room was quiet- I like the vibe it feels very familiar and welcoming even though it was the first time here. I went with the wonton and brisket soup and as the staff brought the bowl to the table the sun broke through the clouds like a SOUP MIRACLE omg. Anyway the broth was nice and light and with some chili I added to my satisfaction nicely spicy. The light broth and thin noodles really set the stage for the well seasoned brisket and amazing shrimp/pork wontons to shine. Green onions and broccoli brought the freshness. A go-to whenever I'm nearby and want something soupy during Seattle's rainy season. My typical order is a 馄饨水饺面 and 椒盐鱿鱼, which comes out pretty quick and hot. The broth is a bit salty, which I prefer my soups to be, and it was a good breakfast to have. The squid always hits the spot and is loaded with flavor and spice. The location is in a plaza with other restaurants so it's easy to park... unless it's peak dim sum hours on the weekends. read more

This was my first stop after landing in Seattle, and I'm glad I tried this place for lunch. I love noodles anytime, but especially on a cold and rainy day. I ordered the wonton and beef tendon combo, which came steaming hot in a delicious broth. They have both regular and large sizes. The noodles were cooked just right, and I kind of regret I didn't get a larger size - though I did get a sesame ball for dessert that was also quite tasty! The restaurant is easy to find in a big strip mall with other (mostly Asian) establishments, and there's plenty of parking for anyone driving. Located near several bus stops as well. Updating a review on their chicken wings: Recommend the salt and pepper chicken wings! They come out piping hot, crispy, and juicy. Has the crispy garlic and jalapeno on top. Yet another place I've never been to despite living in this city my whole life... until now. This place shares parking with places like Ding Feng and Happy Lemon. As most likely stated in other reviews, make sure your parking is near-perfect in this strict rule-enforced area or you will get ticketed. Passing that, the place feels somewhat intimate and homely, with the feel of the tables and chairs resembling most Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and bright incandescent lights above the tables. You get a menu and servers take your order. There's a ton of noodle soups here but they also serve congee, salt and pepper dishes, claypot dishes and other things. Before going on, I've personally had less-than-great experiences eating wonton noodle soups, in particular at one place that everyone seems to like and rave about in Seattle's Chinatown... having said that, I got the wonton and beef brisket noodle soup through my friend's recommendation, and man it was really good especially when you add in chili oil! Soup was fresh, wontons were perfect and the noodles didn't over- or underpower the soup like it does for other places I've had wonton noodle soups at. Beef briskets were tender and flavored well. Found this place on Yelp as my husband was looking for a place with some authentic congee. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly busy. I ordered the clay pot, spicy, with beef brisket and rice noodles. We ordered our kids the dumpling and beef brisket noodle soup, and the mister ordered chicken congee with a side of Chinese donuts. We also ordered the steamed veggies with oyster sauce (Chinese broccoli). I love spicy and my spicy clay pot was spicy for sure. I didn't expect it to be that spicy but it was very flavorful and the amount of items in it was a lot. My kids wonton and beef brisket noodle soup was way too salty to be honest. A lot of noodles in it and not much other stuff. Hubby's chicken congee was delicious. My kids wanted more Chinese donut so we ordered another extra side of that. Total was $80ish with tip which was rather pricey in my opinion. We left half the wonton and beef brisket soup as the kids didn't want it. I'd come back for the congee and clay pot but probably not the noodle soup dishes. read more

This place hits the spot! I saw this place 10 months ago from the light rail and passed it many times driving along MLK. Finally gave it try. No regrets. I had a small wonton noodle soup with beef brisket and couple of fried chicken wing sections. Perfect amount of food for just one person. Wonton are plump and juicy. Brisket had great flavor. Super tender choy sum in the soup. Wings were crispy and juicy. No wonder some people just come here for the fried chicken. my only note on the wonton noodle soup: great flavor for he soup itself, but itwas just a teeny bit on the salty side, I think because it was already about 2pm. I know from my own experience on the kitchen side of things in a restaurant, as the day goes on big stockpots of soup or broth that are going all day tend to get saltier as the day goes on as the liquid evaporates. Great, super friendly service. I'll be back to try the congee, for sure. the best compliment I can give? I would take my mom here without hesitation. Comforting, classic mom and pop restaurant that you shouldn't pass on! We stopped by for a low key brunch. Dishes were very well seasoned and prepared, with nice portions and reasonable prices. My coworker took me here and we got some wonton noodle soup. It was the best soup ever the noodles were so good and delicious. The wontons were filled with pork and shrimp and it was so good and I added chili oil to it. Their servers was so good they gave us Hot water or hot tea. I got regular water because it was kind of hot that day, but it was delicious and I enjoyed it so much and they only take cash which I like and I will come back again. Cute mom & pop sort of restaurant. I ordered the wonton & sui-kau noodles with thin noodle. I thought the serving was very filling and it came with so many wontons and sui-kau. Honestly I wasn't super sure of the difference between the two dumplings. One kind of dumpling had shrimp and pork and a silkier wrapper, and the other was pork only with wood ear mushroom and a different wrapper. The soup was a little salty for me but otherwise delicious. We also got the crispy fried wontons (8). It was freshly fried and piping hot. I think these were ok. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce. read more

We were looking for a quick bite to eat while our baby slept and pleasantly came across this noodle house. Inside was clean and had ample seating for lunch on a weekday. Didn't wait long for our food to come out piping hot. The noodle soups were comforting and had lots of flavor. The "regular" is the perfect portion size to feel full but not over-stuffed. Salt and pepper squid had a light crispy batter with delicious bits of crispy fried garlic and chopped jalapeños on top. I liked that it wasn't overly salty. We ordered a fish congee to go so am looking forward to trying that out too. Don't forget to check out the fried goodies in the case at the front on your way out. Don't judge a book by its cover! This little Rainier Valley gem is a must-visit! THE ROSES: Easy to find and ample parking. Pleasant staff. Very clean. The cuisine is authentic Chinese; no 'American-Chinese', so no 'General Tso's' this or any other Panda Express abomination - this is the Real Deal. Excellent noodle soups and rice dishes. Reasonable prices and generous portions. THE THORNS: The neighborhood is a bit on the sketchy side, with a number of vagrants and drug zombies shuffling about. The merchants in this strip mall seem to do a good job of keeping them moving, though - but be sure to lock your car: I saw one vagrant peering in windows (looking for 'smash and grab' possibilities?). NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: When I came in and saw I was the only white person in the place, I knew the food was going to be authentic and really good - and I was not wrong! CNH caters to discriminating diners who know what they want and appreciate quality Chinese cuisine! THE VERDICT: Canton Noodle House is a place you go when you're SERIOUS about great Chinese soups and noodle dishes. It's not a hipster, 'see and be seen' kind of place. Our first Cantonese food/noodle joint on our Seattle adventure. 4.5 stars for flavor, 3 stars for value, and 3.5 stars for portion size.....so that averages out to 4. We stopped at 3 of the top Cantonese-style noodle houses in Seattle and ordered beef brisket and wonton noodle soup (it's like a go-to dish at these simple Chinese diners) at each place. Finding ourselves in South Seattle, this shop was convenient. It was pricier than the places in International District which was surprising since you'd think rent would've been less. The noodle was spot-on though a bit skimpy for the large bowl. A total of 9 large won ton/ siu kau came with the large bowl, and 8-9 pieces of beef brisket were in the large bowl of noodle soup. The beef brisket was lean and lacked deep flavor. The noodle soups were good, not great and we were still hungry afterwards, so not a good value. The mall where this diner was located is looking run down and uninviting. If you're in the area, and hankering chinese noodle soup, maybe stop by, but not my first choice in Seattle. read more

Food: Wonton noodle: 5/5 everything was juicy and the size of the wonton was perfect Shui gao noodle: 5/5 if you like that mushroom taste, you will like this more than the wontons. I am writing this review after trying the same noodle bowls at multiple noodle restaurants in the Seattle area. I tried a large bowl of wonton & sui kau noodle soup and a large bowl of beef brisket noodle soup. Let me first say that both broths were super tasty. The wonton broth was strong in seafood flavor. Broth flavor is definitely their strength. In fact, their broth was the best amongst all the noodle houses I visited. I got 3 wontons and 2 sui kaus. I still don't know the difference between sui kau and wonton. I think sui kau is really slightly larger than wonton but they are the same thing. The sim kau at this place is just slightly larger than wonton. Other than that they have the same filling and taste the same as wonton. And for that reasons I don't think it was worth extra for sui kau. However I visited another restaurant in Seattle, their sui kaus were much larger than wontons. Also their sui kaus had extra fillings like real chinese mushrooms. So I would suggest skipping the sui kau and stick with plain wontons. You save $2.25 and they may give you more wontons. As for the beef brisket, they were tender and flavor was right on. Both bowls come with chinese brocolli which was a good touch. The noodle was great but I won't say that there was that much even for large bowl. I hate to imagine how little you get for regular bowl. You know how you get this feeling as you are slurping down these delicious noodle and the noodle just keep growing? Well you won't get that feeling here. The pricing is also highest amongst the noodle houses I did my comparision. And for the higher pricing and lack of noodle, I knocked down 2 stars. read more

Yummy food and generous portions! We came to this place around noon on a Sunday. We ordered claypot spicy beef rice noodle, wonton Sui-Kau Noodle soup, and Salt Pepper fried chicken. All tatses pretty good and homey! I'd recommend trying the claypot noodle if you want to try something more flavorful beyond the general canton dishes. This review occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic and is for in-house dining. This is located in an unassuming strip mall next to a laundromat. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall mom and pop kind of place. Definitely not glamorous. Social distancing is enforced and masks are required. It's nice to have in this neighborhood I grew up in my dad still leaves close and it's nice to have this option since the majority of noodle houses in the area are pho. We dined in one if the first places we done in a long time. It wasn't busy inside so we felt comfortable and tables seating is well placed and clean. Service was friendly. Dad and I both had the Sui-Kao Beef Brisket Noodle soup. The bowl was deep and chock full of sui-kao and brisket I also enjoyed the vegetable in the dish think it ws Chinese Broccoli. Ultimate comfort food spot. I had the wonton noodle soup and my friend had the roast duck noodle soup with thin noodles. Both were flavorful without being overly salty. Decently priced for the portions as well. We also had fried chicken wings which were well-crisped and juicy. I can't wait to return to try their congee and claypot noodles. read more

I still come here regularly and love the food here. It's comfort for me, love their congee, wontons, egg noodles and rice noodles. As well as the Chinese donuts still! Prices have gone up and it's completely reasonable, please don't complain about prices, feel free to make your own noodle soup at home for $15 or less. I mean McDonald's sells $2.xx mcdoubles....it's across the street....so.... I'm happy to pay any price, i actually cook a lot so I know how much prep work goes into preparing food, I work in the industry from the front to the back for almost 20 years, I respect the work that goes into running these restaurants. There's so many moving parts to it rather than just a $15-20 bowl, there's the preparation, the meat cost, ingredients, labor, insurance, the cleaning, the setting up, closing down, etc. It's en endless cycle. This is your standard Hong Kong style noodle house. The interior of the restaurant is pretty basic, but you go for the food, not the atmosphere. There's one woman basically running the front end of the shop--taking orders, answering the phone, bringing out your food, and ringing up the bill--so sometimes there's a little bit of a wait if there's a lot of people, but don't worry, the woman's a hustler. I ordered the wonton noodle soup and subbed the standard noodles (which are like thin chow mein noodles) for the wide noodles (which are like the same consistency as the wonton wrapper). There's also an option to sub for rice noodles, which I've also done before. The wontons are made in-house (I've also seen the one woman running the show make them in her spare time) and are shrimp and pork and definitely taste homemade. They are so delicious and there are never enough in my bowl (I could honestly just eat a whole bowl of wontons and soup), but that's how they keep me coming back. They do ask that credit/debit card charges have a min of $10, so either bring cash to support this small business or be prepared to spend over that much! read more
