Came to Geraldines for breakfast with some friends with a party of 6 on a Thursday morning. 4 adults and 2 kids. We waited about 15 minutes while they set our table up. This place is COZY. Meaning, be prepared to be pretty snug with everyone at the table. The service was lightning quick and the waiter was very busy. So there wasn't much more than a "hello"and "can I take your order?" But like I said, it's busy, and being from out of state, I hear that Geraldine's is always busy. I ended up ordering an something similar to a Mexican omelette. Stuffed with avacado and topped with Pico de gallo and sour cream, with hash browns and English muffin all included in one order. It was fair, omelette was nothing to rave about. Now the French toast on the flip side is absolutely something to rave about! Crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside. This months topping was a blueberry compote and the maple syrup was great! I highly recommend getting the French toast!! Oh and can't forget the truffle Tater tots. Nom nom. I would definitely come back for the French toast! read more

Coming to Geraldine's every time I'm in south Seattle is a must! We came in on a Thursday for lunch and didn't have to wait at all, but I know it gets crowded on the weekend mornings-- and for a good reason! We got the biscuits and gravy and an order of the chicken fried steak with gravy. Amazing and quick service, huge portions, and tasty food! A true Seattle staple read more

The food is delicious and the service is excellent. First time here and I will definitely come back. I came here on a Saturday, and the wait for two was about thirty minutes. Worth the wait! read more

My daughter decided that morning she wanted brunch. Ok it's her birthday and she lives an hour away. So we used Siri for directions and it took us on an adventure to get there. Our daughter and family had arrived and call us there was an 45 minute wait. Sure that was a long 45 minute wait more like 2 hours because it 5 adults and 2 children. Now let's talk food I ordered the burger which was different not a traditional hamburger. The flavor of the meat was good but the condiments used was not expected and not good. The bun seemed to fall apart as I ate. I did not finish my sandwich. I did enjoy my country biscuits and jam was very good yes. read more

Biscuits and gravy, side of apple sauce pancakes and side of hash browns. Average food. Excellent customer service. This place is a cute little side restaurant that seems always busy. I only waited 5min because I opted for breakfast at the bar. The Apple pancakes were great and it was the highlight of the 3 things we ordered. read more

Oh my! We got there right at opening so we didn't have to wait! Ordered the small french toast for a taste. Next time - I'll get the big one! Sooooooo good! I see why people are willing to wait! read more

I love this little neighborhood diner for brunch. I always go for the corned beef hash with eggs fried over medium. If you're lucky, you can sit at the counter and peek into the kitchen and watch the chefs cook. This place gets packed over the weekend, so come early and be prepared to wait! read more

Wow their brunch is amazing! I didn't think breakfast food could taste so good! Came during a weekday and got seated pretty quickly. The biscuits and gravy are a hearty meal - the meat in the gravy and the deliciousness of the sauce.... I could order this everyday! The Emerald City Scramble was a lighter option that was great too - pour on the hot sauce and clean the plate! Love the diner vibe of this place, and the workers are welcoming. read more

prepare to wait if you're coming here for brunch on a weekend! cute little neighborhood spot that serves your typical brunch menu. I've had their bacon, egg, and arugula sandwhich and that was good but it wasn't anything spectacular. Their chili here is probably my favorite thing. Good ol' hearty cup of chili with all the fixins (cheese, scallions, etc) and it comes out piping hot and super filling! read more

Great vibes on Saturday, there are a bunch if jazz bands playing in the area! The line can be long, so I highly recommend to try get in line early :) I had the spinach feta omelette. To be very honest, I think the food itself was just okay. Maybe it's because I didn't try their popular ones. I am giving four stars for the good brunch vibes read more

I'm so frustrated. I LOVE this place and food. Today I had to ordered to go, but it was supposed to be a very special breakfast but for the order of Biscuits and Gravy wasn't so good. There was no enough gravy for the biscuits, and I thought about ordering a side of it in case this happened and it came a total of 3/4 cup of gravy. When dining in, you'll have a load of gravy to eat with your Biscuits and this is so good! It definitely makes a difference and if you're considering ordering Biscuits and Gravy to go, I don't recommend. read more

Parking was hard to find. We were seated immediately which was nice since it was packed inside. The specials of the day were on point. Everything we ate, we were super happy with. Service (5/5 stars) - Arrived at 8am Friday morning - Seated immediately - Never saw the bottom of my coffee mug - Checked on a couple of times never with a mouth full of food lol The place got completely packed by 8:30-9am but that should be the time when the first round of customers are finishing. The restaurant was located in a cute little downtown neighborhood. Most places were closed but it's nice to stroll down the street. Lots of brick buildings and trees. F O O D Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy (5/5 stars) - I came in tired after just arriving to Seattle with barely any sleep. Didn't think I'd have an appetite until I had my first bite. I finished about half of it which is still pretty good. The portion was pretty big. The steak came drenched in meat gravy sauce ! So gooood ! It wasn't too salty or lacking. It was just right. read more

very over hyped restaurant with mediocre food at best. i can't believe the sheer amount of people waiting so long for this as the food is so over priced for breakfast. i would rather go to an ihop than wait in that line as seattle had so many other breakfast places to offer with spectacular food that won't hurt your wallet. read more

Geraldine's is my favorite breakfast spot in the city. I've been here countless times, but I've never ordered anything off their lunch menu because their breakfast options are just that good. WAIT Geraldine's definitely gets busy weekend mornings, so come in the afternoon on a weekday if you don't want to wait in line. AMBIANCE Local art on the walls, friendly wait staff, fast service. Not much to complain about here. Their colorful plates are iconic. FOOD The French Toast is by far the best in Seattle. The fresh fruit toppings rotate every day, but this is a must try. It's hard to come by a French toast that is both crunchy and flufffy with that much flavor. The Emerald City Scramble is my go to savory option. It's everything you'd want in a scramble. Nothing crazy about the dish, but it's just done really well. Every ingredient plays its role in making a balanced and delicious bite. OVERALL My favorite breakfast/brunch experience in Seattle. No complaints. Quick tip: if you pay cash they give you a $1 Geraldine's Voucher for every $10 spent. read more

Does place has the best French toast in the world. There's nothing else to say about it but I also like the country fried steak

Solid brunch fare, very popular, expect a wait. Food: working on some health goals so decided on a savory dish for brunch. I got to the casserole dish and hubby got the emerald city scramble. While my dish was good, like other reviewers, I wasn't able to really make out the hash browns or sausage that was apparently in the casserole. It just tasted like an egg and cheese dish with Pico for the most part. Good but not as good as it should've been IMO. I feel like it needed more kick. Seems like Geraldines is most known for their French toast... I can't eat that many carbs for brunch so sadly I don't think I'll get to experience the full glory that is Geraldines. Service: there were so many people working! Lots of servers, cooks etc which made for very attentive and prompt service which was much appreciated! Atmosphere: this restaurant is live and vibey, right in the heart of Columbia city. My party of 2 waited for about 15-20 min for a seat at the counter. A table would've probably taken twice as long. This isn't a place I would want to come in a large group just given its popularity. Overall: decent, go all out with carbs for brunch or pass. read more

I wanted to see what all the hype was about, so I did what everyone else was doing and put my name on the list and got in line. 1 hour later...my table was ready. I wasn't sure if the wait was worth it, but I played along and ordered the FAMOUS French Toast. You know...the french toast people from all over Seattle come to try....well the day I was there the daily topping was vanilla glazed pears...HOLY CRAP, HOLY CRAP, HOLY CRAP....THE BEST FRENCH TOAST I'VE EVER HAD, AND I'VE BEEN TO FRANCE!!! Its crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft in the middle. Oh ya and the maple syrup is made from scratch too, let's just say I was licking the plate when it was all over...that's how good it was. I'm not even a french toast fan, but get your butt over here and put it in your mouth IMMEDIATELY!!! My work is done here...drop the mic! read more

It was not for me. Maybe a younger generation. Yea and bacon well done and eggs great

Outstanding food. With the wait. Tight quarters though so be comfortable with your class many - lol.

Ummmm okay I LOVE this place. Big BIG portions for a good price - the kind that I used to see in Texas but never here within the city of Seattle. I've come twice, and the food has been stellar both times. I have tried the breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy, chili, tater tots, sweet potato fries, and the French toast. I highly recommend the truffle tots - each tot was crispier that one could imagine with a slight hint of truffle. Seriously, tots are hard to get wrong but to get them to be excellent is very hard to do and Geraldine's somehow does it beyond excellent. The other bomb ass thing you must try here is the French toast. I'm not a huge French toast/waffles/pancakes person but decided to order it one day to share with my hubs and O M F G. Again- the texture of the French toast was spot on. Soooo amazingly crispy on the outside and soft and yummy on the inside. Like another decadent paradox, not sure how they managed to achieve this but has me thinking about coming back for more and more. Service both times has been stellar as well. This place doesn't feel like a lot of other places do, which is Seattle Freeze-y; nope, quite the opposite. The only downside as others have mentioned is long wait times on the weekend - but it's worth it, so not really a minus star here. read more

+ Best french toast!!! + Thick cut bacon yessss + Can't go wrong with any dish choice imo + Local business + Friendly staff + Clean space Can get super busy and have a wait (up to an hour) on the weekends but had no wait when I went on a weekday. Thank you for such a delicious breakfast!! read more

This is a very cute neighborhood spot that serves delicious breakfast. I have been here a few times now and the biscuits are a must as they taste sensational with their homemade jam. The Geraldine's Casserole is my favorite thing I have gotten as a main entree here as the eggs are cooked perfectly and it has a lot of flavor with the sausage, cheese and pico. I would recommend sticking to the breakfast menu as that is what has made this place a popular spot and it tastes better than the lunch options. Good news is that they always serve their breakfast menu so that is easy to do! On weekends the wait time can get pretty crazy in the mornings so if possible try to go on a weekday or later during their service on a weekend. Everyone who works here is always very kind so if you have the chance this is a spot you should definitely try out for a good breakfast! read more

Great local breakfast spot! Our server was Angie and she was awesome!! Food and vibes A+

Very good breakfast at Geraldine's. I was told this place is always crazy packed but we went on a Friday at 8:30 am and got seated right away which was nice. The service is great with extremely friendly hosts and servers. I got the sweet corn and havarti scramble which was very tasty but quite sweet (FYI if that's not what you're into). The hash browns are good and they have a good selection of salsas. Good sourdough accompaniment as well. My friend has the Emerald City scramble and I liked hers better, but the sweet corn is more unique for sure. We also split a lemon ricotta pancake which had a great taste. Would definitely return! read more

My favorite breakfast in Seattle! I typically get the Chicken Fried Steak with scrambled eggs and a side of delicious thick sourdough toast. Definitely need to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns. If you're not the type to eat your breakfast with ketchup and hot sauce (they have regular and green Tabasco), then I could imagine this meal being bland. The Chicken Fried Steak is good and I like how the gravy is mostly sausage. Overall, good comfort food. Known for their French Toast, I was always hesitant because I never liked French Toast. But I finally decided to listen to my friends recommendation and it's the best I've ever had! I never liked it before because I've always had wet, soggy, eggy French Toast. But the French Toast here is crispy yet soft in the middle and rich in flavor. The Jam in the jar is delicious, and I like spreading it on my French Toast. To be honest, I don't always eat the (canned?) fruit that is served with the French toast. I prefer the combination of the jam and maple syrup! They also have rotating pancakes, and I got to try their Honey Orange pancakes. They were so good and the best pancakes I've ever had! The orange flavor is definitely there. Service is usually friendly and attentive. The ambiance is bright, clean, and colorful. Almost always busy. There is free parking in the neighborhood if you're willing to walk a bit. I find portions filling and prices reasonable. Don't forget to order French Toast! read more

On an unplanned adventure through the city, we stopped by Geraldine's Counter to fill our bellies with something good. And what we got didn't disappoint! It was pretty crowded with all kinds of people and many families. We put our names on the list and were seated at the counter after a short wait. The wait staff was wonderful and very well organized, the menu clear and full of delicious things and the people overall happy. We got hot chocolate, orange juice, a cup of coffee (they will refill until it comes out of your ears!), an avocado egg sandwich with hashbrowns, and a chicken sandwich with truffled tater tots. We didn't have to wait long to get our order and we enjoyed it all. The portion size was too generous for our early morning stomachs, so we each took a half home (hmmm, heated up as dinner, so good). I definitely want to come back soon! read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Although, why put something on the menu if it's not going to be good? I've been recommended this place profusely and maybe I had high expectations. I ordered the Huevos a la Mexicana, and of course this isn't a Mexican restaurant so what did I expect, however, my favorite dish at Black Bear Diner is their Mexican breakfast. Regardless, it was a big upset. Tortillas, store bought, overdue. Eggs, lame. Beans, canned, tasted like aluminum, and were dead cold. Salsa was ok. Then the audacity to put a poor slice of grapefruit in there and call that the "served with fresh fruit" get out of here. To top it all off it was $15 worth of disappointment. My husband ordered the "something" burger with fries. Decent burger, fries were delicious. Friend with us ordered biscuits and gravy, it was ok, lacked flavor. If you want breakfast you have to order everything separately, and it will be $20+ plate per person. Personally, I'd rather drive down to Federal Way for a great breakfast rather than walk down to here. It's a really cute place, it's painted nicely and has its whole feel going for it, if only the food did too. read more
