Had a great night out at Heyday last weekend. We were looking forward to their fries, specialty burgers, and unique list of starter plates. This restaurant can get a little busy in the evenings but we arrived around 4:30pm for that reason. The spicy pickle starter was fun and had a lot of variety to the vegetables- went well with our cocktails as well. The Saigon Burger is a full commitment to its inspiration. The blend of meats, pickled radish/carrots, fresh jalapeño, and cilantro was delicious. We split our large order of fries which apparently use a special potato which makes sense because I've only had fries like these here at this restaurant. Service was great- plenty attentive without feeling pressure to zoom through our meal. read more

I like coming to Heyday for a nice casual meal where the staff is friendly and the burgers are good. Dang and his crew are wonderful and I always enjoy my meal when I come. I had the tacos this time while my friends had the jerk chicken burger and the lamb burger. My friend who ate the lamb burger said she would've licked the plate if she could. We also shared the large tots which hit the spot. I also had the salted caramel which was dessert but then, we had surprise dessert of the chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron skillet with ice cream on top. Can't go wrong with cookies and ice cream! We came here on a whim on a weekday evening. It's a relatively small place but we were seated right away. It wasn't empty by any means but there were still a number of open tables. The food was above average but nothing mind-blowing. I had a codwich, my partner had fish and chips, and we shared a Mac and cheese special and Marion berry pie. My husband wanted Manny's since it was our last night in Seattle before moving away but unfortunately they were out. The service was pretty slow despite it not being super busy. It took a long time in particular to get our dessert and our check. I was seated facing the street but my partner said that the staff weren't busy tending to tables, just chatting with each other or with people at the bar. Loved the experience bringing my kids here. Super kid friendly and quality food. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday, no reservation. We were told about a 10 min wait and their timing tracked. There were lots of seats at the bar and every table in the dining room had kids, which is why we had to wait. Menu and drinks were super straightforward. We both got burgers. I loved the bacon bleu burger, the bacon jam was very flavorful. My husband got the Saigon burger. If you're looking for a non traditional burger, this is it! The space is on the smaller side but it feels very open and big, they do a good job with spacing between tables, they also seem very accommodating to larger groups. I've been coming here for many years. The food has always been good, but it has definitely gotten even better. I got the bacon bleu burger this time and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I also got a side of fries. The burger was delicious. The flavor of the bacon jam and the blue cheese really came through. It was sweet, salty, and had that indescribable blue cheese flavor. The burger patty was not very thick, but I did not mind. The meat tasted good as well. The fries were also delicious, medium thickness. The aioli that it came with was also great! The inside of the restaurant has a family-vibe in the seating area. There is also a bar, but it seems very grownup as this restaurant is in a neighborhood. Came for Brunch! Little bit of a wait - they are busy! And make sure you have a proof of vax! Got a short stack of Johny Cakes ($7) and added two poached eggs (+$3.5). Eggs were perfectly cooked and the Johny cakes were like eating two very fluffy rounds of cornbread - cheese curds in the middle were a nice touch! Friends got the BEC ($14) and the Heyday Breakfast ($10.5) which looked amazing!! Coffee comes from QED from down the street and is great! Definitely need to come again and try more things. A few weeks ago I came here for the second time in about a year. The first time I went I ordered the fish and chips and I was disappointed. That was my bad since I already knew they were known for their burgers. For some reason I can't resist ordering fish and chips no matter where I go. Anyway, this time I ordered the bison burger and it was very delicious along with the crispy tots. We ordered the brussels sprouts again and they were also delicious. Great place to hang out. Wow was this a hidden gem. It was too busy in downtown so we looked elsewhere and this looked good. So glad we tried it. It's got a low key vibe with tables inside and out. The servers are kind and the food comes out quickly. And the food is FANTASTIC! We got burgers and chicken sandwiches and you think that's safe and should be good. But they were great. We ordered: Pork belly barley bowl: love the flavor and texture of Everything besides the pork belly. It should have been cooked longer cause it was just mushy and soft Lamb baked eggs: the eggs was overdone and the lamb was too fine that I couldn't tell. Bread was good though. Shortstack of Johnnycakes: first time having it and it was like a savory piece of bread. Goes pretty well with the syrup. Special of the day: lamb sausage with babaghanoush, olive tapanande, pita bread and golden beet slaw. This was soooooo good. I love everything except for the lamb sausage, a little too soft for my taste. But everything else was super good. Service was a little off, feels a little rush from one of the waiter. We came in on a Sunday with the family for brunch. There was a short wait for a table but everything worked out very nice. Area: Located in a neighborhood area. Seemed to be very popular on the weekend of breakfast/brunch. Street parking nearby in a very walkable neighborhood. Streets felt safe and clean. Environment: Very nice interior dining area with a full bar and selection of beers & cocktails. Clean and tastefully decorated. Restaurant was brightly lit with a lot of natural light. Customer base was a good mix of families and adults with no children. If there is a wait and if you have no children, sitting at the bar is a nice option. Food: We ordered 4 different dishes to share. Everything was fresh & tasty. Our server made several recommendations which we tried and were very happy with our choices. Service: From start to finish the whole staff was very nice. Service was prompt and efficient which made waiting for a table go relatively quickly, since they are able to turnover the tables after guests leave fast. Overall, great experience. 3.5 stars. Was super excited about this place after seeing lots of good reviews recently. I don't venture south too often but it was a good in between spot for a girls' brunch. We went a few weeks back on a Sunday around 12:30 and there was about a 20 minute wait for a table -- the place was busy! I don't believe they take reservations (at least they don't for 4 people). I wish I had more positives to say about this place b/c it has potential! Let's start w/ the positives: Pros: neighborhood parking, unique dishes on the menu like johnny cakes, lamb baked eggs, etc. (a nice deviation from the normal sausage and eggs, eggs bene, etc.), casual neighborhoody vibes. The Johnny Cakes were a highlight and I highly recommend them! They are pancakes filled w/ beecher's cheese and scallions (and then served w/ maple syrup). So, savory AND sweet - the perfect combo! We got a short stack to share :) I had the grapefruit and mint mojito and it was pretty small and average tasting ($8). I expected more of a mint flavor but the mint was just a garnish and the drink just tasted like grapefruit juice for the most part. Kind of disappointing.. I would not order this again. I had the smoky lamb baked eggs after the server recommended it as a top dish. At $13.50, this dish was pretty small. It was also not what I thought it would be -- the server described it as like a quiche -- but it was not fluffy at all nor runny (like baked eggs usually are). The egg yolk was light light yellow, like when you completely overcook an egg. ugh. The bits of lamb were fairly small too. It was also strange that the dish is served with grilled bread. Usually you use the bread to dip into the eggs or to put the somewhat runny/liquidy eggs on top of the bread. In this case, the eggs/lamb were dry/crumbly that it seemed weird to eat it with bread. It wasn't terrible but definitely small and not what I expected. :( Maybe this dish is usually better and I just got a not so good batch? I didn't get to ask my friends what they thought of their dishes, but I'd come back just for the johnny cakes and maybe would try a different entree as well... this place has potential and others seem to love it so I'd give them another chance... read more

This neighborhood burger joint features the best selections of burgers and seasonal salads! I was thrilled to see not only one but two vegetarian burger options on the menu! And the special of the night was crispy tofu salad! We ordered the bacon bleu, BYO and beety bean burgers. They were all fantastic! My bean burger was especially delicious! Loved all the toppings! Definitely one of the best burgers on Seattle. Haven't eaten here in person as we discovered them after COVID. They don't overcook and seem to hit the temperature we ask for. The bun is also good not too this or that. Other big bonus is they offer tots as that has been very hard to find in Seattle. Please help keep them in business! Simple and delicious! Came in for a quick dinner and saw they had a happy hour until 6 so we hopped in the car and headed over. Happy hour was worthy of our attention so although the regular menu looked inviting, the deals were more luring. We opted for the BYOB BURGER, shareable happy hour tots and a couple vodka tonics. When the burger came out, my first impressing was..It's kind of small. But once I took my first bite, the juiciness of the meat, the softness of the ciabata bun and creaminess of the fontina cheese had me singing a new song. With each bite l savored the amazing awesomeness that was happening in my mouth. Then popped a few tots with a dab of aioli in my mouth and I was singing with the choir! Tots were crispy and delicious. Drinks were simple but well made and a deal at $6! We ended up speaking with the owner for a short bit and he was a super friendly guy. We walked here for brunch and had a great time! I will say it does get pretty busy so prepare for a little wait during the weekend. The place was very nice on a summer Saturday at 1pm. The restaurant was 2/3 full but the staff were not very attentive and the food took a while. As in we sat down, for some reason no one decided to check on us after. I had to grab someone's attention eventually to put an order in. Not sure why this was since it didn't appear very busy. Chocolate shake was good. Veggie baked eggs was ok and was quite filling. If that's all I had I could prob have just a bit more than half for brunch/lunch. The johnny cakes tasted kinda like if pancakes were made of cornbread. Wanted to try it, not bad, but not a must get again. We ordered one more thing and now I barely remember it. We've tried several of the burgers over several visits, and each was tasty. My favorite was the bacon bleu and my partner really enjoyed the bison. The beer and cider selection is also great. My first time at HeyDay 8 months ago had me wanting to come back for another date night dinner. However, our revisit here was unfortunately not as good as our first. I'm not sure, but the quality and finesse of the food seems to have downgraded since my first visit here. My partner ordered two different burgers than our first visit, and onion rings and tater tots like before. We tried the lamb burger and the bacon bleu burger this time. Both we're decent, but I was feeling really overwhelmed by the flavor. There are so many strong flavors going on that each flavor is no longer complimenting each other. Instead, they're all yelling and shouting over one another at the same time. The result is a burger that has overpowering flavors stacked on each other. It's really hard to appreciate the quality of the meat and it's side components when there are explosive flavors competing one another. In terms of our sides, the onion rings seemed to have been prepared with less attention now. Compared to my photo from our first visit, the onion rings are primarily oily, greasy batter now. The onion ring itself is very thick, and puffy. One of the reasons I liked HeyDay so much on our first visit was because of the light, thin coating of batter on the onion rings. This doesn't seem to be the way they're prepping it now. Furthermore, I felt like their tater tots didn't dazzle anymore. Honestly these tasted similar to the ones that you buy frozen at the grocery store. I was pretty unhappy that they weren't delicious like before. The place gets busy and it leaves servers moving around left and right. Service was great before, but my last visit left me feeling pretty standard about service. Overall, I was sad to leave HeyDay feeling like it didn't live up to its expectations from the first time I came. I'm on the fence about returning, especially because the place is bit on the higher end of price. PROS: Clean attractive restaurant. Plenty of interesting choices on the menu. Bleu Cheese Burger was cooked to order. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich had plenty of flavor. The tater tots were hot and crispy. CONS: Avoid the greasy, heavily battered, tasteless onion rings. They were just plain awful, even after I added more salt. The buns on both the burger and sandwich were way to wimpy to support all the drippy goopy toppings. It literally fell apart before 1/2 done eating it. The potato chips weren't fresh. The caramel boozy milkshake had very little alcohol in it. I could hardly taste the bourbon or the walnut liquor. The service was lacking, and generally rather cheerless. I absolutely love coming here for their brunch and I almost always have to have their delicious Johnny Cakes! Another favorite is their Quinoa Crunch that's full of amazing flavor and textures. I have tried all their baked egg dishes and they seem to come different each time with either the egg being over cooked and no yolk oozing, or the yolk cooked just right eith the ooze (my preference). We had a $60 lunch - it was good, but pricey for what we got. This is a cute neighborhood restaurant on the ridge above Leschi / I-90. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and they have a good beer selection. The Two Towns ginger cider was tasty but not too sweet. The White Bluffs IPA was a good IPA. The veggie burger was good. The Caesar salad came with two fresh anchovies (yay!) and the added chicken was succulent and flavorful thigh meat (unusual, but actually better than the usual chicken breast). The dressing had plenty of garlic, but was a vinaigrette based dressing rather than the usual creamy caesar salad. My one complaint about Heyday is a significant one - everything is à la carte. The veggie burger was $8.50 -- but with tomato, cheddar, avocado and fries (the kinds of things that should be standard with a burger in a high-end restaurant), the burger came to $15.50 - almost double the price! The large Caesar salad was $10, and the chicken added another $5. I find this kind of nickel-and-diming type of pricing really annoying - it may draw you in, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. read more

A trendy, upbeat, modern and hip eatery, with lots of kids? More on that soon. Upon walking in, it's like, okay, 8oz burger bar feeling, wood and metal abounds. It's warmly woody and dimly lit, but spacious and clean. They have a menu that rivals any burger place, because of the addition of skakes, drinks, and things like pork belly. It was a date night for us, but I think this is really the neighborhood family eatery. I enjoyed the fries there, they were nicely cooked, and seasoned nicely. I wished they came with the burger I ordered, but it's a la carte here, so a burger with fries is well past $18 bucks. I'm not a particularly cheap person, but I appreciate a good value. I think their pretty ambitious menu of Bison (which is already $17 if you include bacon), Jerk chicken, or even Cod for burger meats is pretty awesome. The Pork Belly was a nice welcome dish, while small plate, still tasty. So when I was there, we were at a booth (thankfully) but every table around us, has kids, and I wondered if that was the idea of this place, a nice, modern, family friend bar. When all is said and done, Heyday is a smartly decorated bar with burgers and salads plus some interesting appetizers. Sitting atop Mount Baker Ridge, many table offer a view (from where I was sitting, I was able to see the iconic Pac Med Center over on Beacon Hill). From home, we hiked up Mount Baker Ridge to Heyday early this past Wednesday evening (OK, so actually we just walked up some stairs). Heyday was hopping with nearly all the tables taken. Service was friendly and quite good, though there was a rather long lapse between when we finished eating and when we were able to get check. Perhaps in keeping with the name Heyday, the eatery was playing an abundance of old music (including from the fifties). That's fine (each to his own), but the music was too loud, making conversation difficult to maintain in the din. We started out with the house-made Kennebec chips that came with a thick green onion dip. The not-exactly-but-kinda-sorta-kettle-cooked chips were excellent. We really liked the tasty dip and Heyday provided the just the right amount of dip (but certainly, none was left over). JP ordered a lamb burger and I went with an $8 BYOB (build your own burger), where I had a tomato ($1) added. The burgers don't come with fries, but do come with a little bowl that contains pickled kale. I'd never had pickled kale before and it's something I've discovered that I quite like. We were excited to try the burgers because the menu stated that Heyday used potato buns. As a personal preference, I have to say I like potato buns the best. The fixings inside the burgers were tasty. The lamb and beef meats were high quality. But the Macrina-supplied buns themselves, well... My bun looked like a tire with half the air let out; one side of it had completely collapsed. The bun was a fragile thing too; it fell into pieces before I was done eating the burger, requiring a fork to finish up. Are we sure these weren't the dreaded Brioche buns? Oh, we also ordered a side of tater tots and they were perfectly decent. Would we come back? Maybe. Like I said, the starter menu looked good, and we would consider the chicken wings (if we can get them without the by-default cilantro). But the too-loud music and poor hamburger buns give me pause. Friend and I decided to try this place on a recommendation. Nice place, they have a bar and a couple of TV screens. Service was okay. I got the Verde Burger and some onion rings. My friend got the Saigon Burger. She said hers was good. She got French fries that were done well. The Verde Burger was juicy but rather bland. The Anaheim chiles were extremely mild and the green Poblano peppers did not add much taste. The onion rings were excellent. Plan to try some of their other burgers. Its a decent burger place. We came here because it was in the neighborhood. In the middle of the Leshi neighborhood, Heyday sits in a block of retailers and coffee shops. When we got there it was pretty full. We had no problem getting a seat. The inside is much bigger then it looks from the outside. After looking through the menu I landed on the veggie burger. The waitress kindly let me know that there is cheese in the patty after I had requested for no cheese. After looking further at the menu there was no vegan option for me. But I saw that they had the impossible burger patty on the special menu. I was able to order the Saigon burger with picked veggies, jalapeño and added avocado, minus the aioli. Order half fries and half tots. I loved. The burger. It was flavorful. Only thing is still paying $15 dollars for a burger with out fries is kinda pricey.
