Wanted to continue our day drinking! Stopped by This place for some drinks. Order some drinks, and some poutine . Poutine had a gravy with something sweet, wasn't a fan.

I stopped by Lottie's Lounge with friends & got a lemon drop. It wasn't bad. The place is dark and intimate. Not good for large groups. Service was friendly and prompt.

arugula salad w/ turkey, drink, outside late nite.

I really enjoyed my food choices of late: the arugula salad with added turkey, the cheese bread and... something else I forgot. =X Service is notoriously slow late nite, so prepare to use them wisely when they come around to you. =P A waitress I've not had before said the Pink Russian was delicious... *orders Pink Russian*... it was delicious but I wouldn't have guessed any alcohol in it otherwise. She comes back and says I could try The Beast for something stronger... hm, maybe next time. Also, if the inside is crowded and it's not raining outside, don't be shy and feel free to sit outside.

I lived in Columbia City when I was 18-20 and I was frequently a little annoyed that I was too young to go to Lottie's to relax with a cocktail and meet someone from the neighborhood. I've been "of age" for almost half a year now and finally made it over there this evening. First impression: I was surprised at how busy it was! The bar was full and at first all the tables were also full. I guess it makes sense, though, because there are plenty of homes within walking distance AND it was cold outside (with snow on the ground). So I got myself a kamikaze because that was the first drink Josh came up with when I said I wanted to try their cucumber-infused vodka(?). It was tasty and the lemon garnish had the drink tasting a bit like lemon tea. Mmmm. What a wonderful place for cocktails! Random tid-bit: One time when the man got locked out, he went to Lottie's for a couple beers while he waited for me to get home. He ended up talking to a guy at the bar, who happened to run a company doing exactly what he wanted to be doing (and happened to be looking for a new employee), and he got a new job. Pretty darn sweet if you ask me! I hope to go back someday when I've got more time to hang out and there's not such a high risk of slipping on compacted ice (in front of the door) and falling on my ass. It didn't happen this time, but it would have been likely if I stayed for another drink or two.

Our favorite neighborhood bar. The brunch is fantastic, I still can't figure out why people stand around waiting for brunch at Geraldine's... Menu is very vegetarian friendly, you can substitute field roast on everything. I recommend the pasta salad as a side over the chips. Happy hour offers $1 off all food & signature drinks, as well as $5 well drinks...and the pours are strong. Beer selection is pretty typical for this area: 3 Grid IPA and Roger's Pils are always on draft, as well as a rotating handle. Bottled beers include Old Rasputin, Racer 5, and PBR. But the cocktails, oh the cocktails...they infuse their own vodkas (ginger, wasabi, cucumber, etc) and have fresh juices from Juiceworks. The mojito with watermelon infused rum is fantastic. Also try the ginger vodka with strawberry lemonade. And the ginger vodka Bloody...actually, just make sure to try the ginger vodka.

    Blood-orange mimosa. Yum.

I haven't been to many clubs over the last few years but my sister was singing last night for…read moreGlimmer, so I went over. It was a really pleasant show. We had a reserved table, and the food was pretty good. It wasn't just bar food, but they 'had decent salads and a nice variety to choose from on their menu. The waitress was pleasant and served without being intrusive during the show. The Royal Room is really nice on the inside. They do a lot of swing and jazz there, but it's a pretty small venue. I'ld call it more comfortable than quaint. Parking was a total pita, but the sound mixer was on point and the music was clear for every instrument with nothing over-riding anything else unnecessarily.

One process improvement since I last came for a show here is that instead of having the host check…read moreevery person in and then lead them to their seat (if reserved), they now put up name placards on the tables and let you find your own seat so the host can keep checking people in. This makes the queue run MUCH more efficiently. However, overall this place has actually gotten worse since my last review. Now, if you make a reservation (necessary for guaranteeing a chair) for only 1 person, they seat you at a high top that faces AWAY from the stage. As in, literally your back is towards the stage. If you rotate your chair, you face an aisle between you and the stage. The aisle is supposed to remain clear, but there is no real way for the staff to keep the area clear from standing-room-only attendees other than nicely asking people to move, with varying success. The venue's suggested solution is a small bench to the side of the stage, which they say you're welcome to move to if you can't see. Problem is, it seats 4-5 people max (fewer if anyone is manspreading) and is open to anyone in the room. The tables are moveable, so at minimum the venue could point them towards the stage. Fwiw none of this is the restaurant /barstaff 's fault. If anything, they seemed to agree that this is not a good setup. (Don't want to go into specifics to avoid getting any employees into trouble) A second issue with the seating is that once you sit down, the staff removes the reservation cards. This means that if you're at one of the high tops, walk in guests will ask you to trade/move spots. Don't agree to move unless you're ok with possibly ending up with no seat at all because it may be that you end up sitting in a seat that was actually reserved by a different person, from which you will be removed when they arrive. It's then up to the person with whom you traded whether or not they're feeling charitable enough to cede back your original seat. Other than the seating problems, I'd give this a 3/5 for acoustics and sound design (accounting for the fact that it's a small converted venue) and a 4/5 for the food (actually pretty good considering that it's a captive audience) TL;DR: Don't bother coming here as a single person unless you completely don't care about the artist at all, or you love the artist so much that you're willing to do anything to see them

They're basic bar drinks, and while they do have unique names, they're not original and just taste of cheap liquor and mixers. (Do they not squeeze their own limes?) Looking at their liquor bar, it's all bottom shelf stuff anyways, so don't expect to be wowed. It's basically a dressed up college bar, for wanna be influencers who think that paying for a 24 dollar drink gets them clout.
