Lovin' Lottie's Lounge... that's what I was doing last weekend. I unexpectedly ended up there two days in a row. Saturday night I met some people and enjoyed reasonably priced yet quite stiff drinks and the company of friends. Taking a break from my aforementioned quite stiff yet reasonably priced drinks I sampled one of their signature Golden Girls themed drinks, the Bea Arthur if I remember correctly. Incredibly sweet, but interesting flavors like elderberry make it worth tasting. Sunday morning I ended up back at their Bloody Mary Brunch, not because of how fantastic and delicious it sounds, but because I consumed a few too many beverages and left my camera at the bar. Luckily they snagged it for me the previous night and I was able to smile at my Cool as a ... Mary (bloody mary with cucumber infused vodka) and not drip tears into it. Had a little breakfast while I was there. Bagel with a nice spread of cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, and capers. I'm not sure if it's every morning or just the one that I was there for, but by 1:30 they were out of quite a few menu options. I left with a good meal in my stomach, the spice of a bloody mary still kicking around in my mouth, my camera in my hand, and the smell of their kitchen on my clothes. I don't know why crowds stand outside Geraldine's across the street, Lottie's has everything you need for breakfast: coffee, vegetarian biscuits & gravy, and a side of roma tomatoes with fresh basil. You can order regular biscuits & gravy, along with other breakfast dishes made with eggs, meat and cheese, but I don't eat any of those food groups. Thus, I don't care. The staff is still learning how to find its synergy, but that's easy to forgive. After all, these things take time. read more

The french 77. Most DELICIOUS cocktail ever!!!!!!! It's crushed lemons with ice, strawberry vodka, some syrup, and champagne.... served super chilled in a martini glass. It tastes like strawberry lemonade at its best. My friend had the watermelon martini. It was not fake nasty watermelon... it was actual watermelon puree and it was very yummy as well. The art in there currently is a bunch of these octopus paintings.. they are so fucking cool! You would have to see them to really appreciate how creative and amazing they are. The bartender was lacking in the personality department.. but he did make a mean drink! That for surely makes up for it. The overall vibe of this lounge is very chill. There is a little bit of room out front for outside seating. Good for smokers. Or non smokers. I will be back! read more

Lotties is in my neigborhood so I end up there quite a bit. Their brunch is really delicious. They have a different theme every weekend so its always a pleasant surprise to see what you'll get to feast on. Their infused vodkas are also quite delicious. Finally, I have to say that as a woman, there are very few bars in the world that I feel comfortable to walk into by myself and enjoy a solo meal or cocktail. Lotties feels very safe and comfortable and I really respect the owner and staff for creating that type of vibe. read more

I wish I could be less ambivalent about this place. The food I had for brunch was great: fresh, beautifully buttery hollandaise sauce topping my eggs benedict; cheesy grits, and a bloody mary that would put a spring in the step and a smile to anyone's face (even if it was a notch too salty). On the other hand, the service stunk on the Sunday noon-ish that I went. There appeared to be only one server for the entire joint, and though he was really apologetic, it was still annoying to receive my eggs nearly 40 minutes after my dining companions received their food. (You know what's awkward? Having your friends' entrees get cold because they're being polite and not eating because your food hasn't arrived yet.) My companion's poached eggs cooked themselves in the 30 minutes it took her toast to arrive. Not really the server's fault (he was decent with the status updates and drink refills), I think it's the slow kitchen with a poor sense of timing. It's too bad the food was good and so reasonably priced, because I'd definitely be back if the service were better. read more

After the dinner that we had there this past Sunday evening, I HAVE to give 5 stars. At first I was a little unsure that I'd like this place, but we met our really good friend there. She's been going to Lottie's Lounge for a long time, and goes to their brunch many Sundays. So, I was willing to give it a try. The place was packed, but we managed to snag a table that had just been vacated. We were greeted upon sitting, and the waitress was prompt on wiping down the table, giving us menus and getting our drink order. My wife and I both had an alcoholic beverage. I got a Stoli and cranberry, which was a good amount of vodka, without being too much. I was quite pleased. When a drink isn't strong, I tend to down it like it's water. When it's just right, I savor the drink, and take my time with it. My wife ordered an applitini, and she was pleased with her drink as well. For dinner, we both ended up deciding on the same thing.... Roast Turkey & Pesto Cream Cheese sandwich. It was, simply, wonderful. The roasted red peppers were the perfect fit for this sandwich, and it had such a blast of flavors. We also got the house salads with our sandwiches. OMG, it about all I can say. The flavors of this salad were beyond amazing. There were blueberries, roasted walnuts, blue cheese, cucumbers and a dressing that had us both in orgasmic states for our meal. This meal blew us both away.... especially when we were just expecting pub food. No, this wasn't just anything, except for just short of amazing. I am looking forward to returning to Lottie's again, to try something else on the menu, and see if they can wow my picky palette. read more

Columbia City needs more bars like Lottie's. Ok, well more bars in general, but Lottie's is a great local. It's not huge, so a couple of times we weren't able to get a seat and there isn't anywhere to stand and have a drink. Like Dave S. mentioned, there are people of all types here. After all, Columbia City is the most diverse zip code in the country (No kidding.) Happy hour goes to 7, and the sandwiches are good. The roast beef in w/ au jus is my favorite! Get the salad with your sandwich. It's one of the best side salad's I've had in Seattle. The soups are hit or miss, but it's summer, so you don't want soup anyway. They make good mixed drinks. Their house cocktails are a little strange (usually not in a delicious way) so stick to the basics here. Service is usually great, but if it is busy you may have to wait more than you want. Brunch is quite slow here, especially if it is busy since their kitchen is itty bitty. Lotties is under new ownership, and they have already made some cosmetic changes, so I am very interested to see what else they do! read more

One of our favorites for weekend brunch. Trim menu with consistently good eggs benedict and an assortment of bloody mary flavors. Great grits, amaretto french toast, there's usually a special or two--it's all been tasty. Like Todd below, we always find it funny that we can walk right in, sit right down, and generally be served within 10 minutes of ordering, while we observe the drizzled-upon crowd across the street, waiting for a seat. There might even be some guffawing, some eye-rolling at the poor, blindered, milling masses. Lottie's is a darker, smaller, pubby kinda place, but still quite family-friendly (I've seen little people happily toddling about on several occasions). It's Geraldine's grittier neighbor. Next time they're backed up across the street, give it a try. You'll feel so much cooler. read more

Oh Lottie's. How I really do love you guys. Your yummy soups. Your cozy, homey seating. I read in Seattle Weekly that you were voted Best New Neighborhood bar last year. But your service... ugh. Every time one of my friends mentions going to Lottie's, I immediately gasp with excitement. Only to recoil, as I remember how horribly slow your service is. Even when it's not busy, it should never ever take 15 minutes for 2 drinks to be delivered. And then there's the process of getting and paying the bill. Holy ish. No joke. It's a process. I want to love Lottie's, I really do. There's a cool vibe, great drinks and decent food, and it's close. But the service just BLOWS. It's so, so bad. The service was good the first couple times, but every single time I've gone after that (3-4 times) has been a pain just to get a drink order in. My last visit was the last straw. Had to grab our own menus, took forever for the waitress to even come to the table. Slightly annoyed, she asked us if we were ready to order, like she'd been waiting on us to figure it out forever. What they say about a long wait is true. I have tried this place numerous times. The server that's usually there looks like a pinup model. It's nice to have eye-candy around while drinking. One Star for that. An example of our typical experience at Lottie's: My lady and I went to meet a friend and while waiting we ordered bread and butter. Our friend arrived and we had our drinks and around an hour later our food order arrives... I wondered, do they make the butter themselves? That wasn't possible because the butter was borderline rancid. We decided to order another round of beers since the food came so late. 25 min go by, no beer. We canceled our order and left. Another example was a going away party for a friend. He loved Lottie's and we obliged him despite our previous experiences. After many drinks with our group of friends the bill was piecemealed as people came and went. Upon reviewing the bills with a clearer mind it turned out we were overcharged more than $20. How I heard of this place: My friend Sadiq used to frequent Lottie Mots when it was a coffee shop about eight years ago. I found out that it became Lottie's Lounge about seveb months ago while house-sitting in the area. After trying it once just a few months ago, I had to find another opportunity to go back. Type of cuisine: Soup, salads and sandwiches. Ambiance: Pub-style settings with bar seating and tables and chairs crowded together in close proximity in a small, dark space. The windows surrounding the restaurant help to let in daylight, without having to avert your eyes due to the brightness of the light. What I ordered: On my recent trip in May, my dining companion and I ordered the baked brie ($8.50) with the addition of sausage on the side ($2). For our late night dinners, I ordered the B.A.T. ($8.50) - crispy smoked bacon, arugula and tomato with garlic-shallot-sage butter on Columbia City Bakery bread and my dining companion went with the roast beef dip with provolone ($8.75) - thinly sliced roast beef with melted provolone and grilled onions, accompanied by a mushroom au jus for dipping. We were each offered a side selection of which I chose the five pepper veggie chili and my dining companion went for the pasta salad. On this occasion, we had seven diners. Our youngest diner went with the bowl ($5.50) of five pepper vegetarian chili. Two couldn't take their eyes off of the ham, brie and apple sandwich ($9.50 each) - only one had to substitute turkey for the ham. Both ordered a side green salad, one with green goddess dressing and the other with balsamic dressing (normally $1 extra, but since they were out of pasta salad it was a free side!). Two others ordered the B.A.T. ($8.50 each) I so thoroughly enjoyed on my last visit. One opted for the side of mixed greens with blueberries, blue cheese crumbles and candied walnuts. The other selected the potato-sausage soup of the day with crostini. The last two of us ordered the turkey and bacon sandwich ($8.75 each) with herbed chevre cream cheese. I ordered the plentiful and beautiful mixed greens with green goddess dressing and my compatriot ordered the tomato-basil soup of the day with crostini. What I loved: On this occasion, I loved the mixed green salad the most! The blueberries were a smashing hit! The candied walnuts and fresh blue cheese crumbles perfectly complemented the green goddess dressing. It was a perfect end meal to a gorgeous Seattle summer day. Why I loved it: The space is great for dinner or a late-night snack (full menu served until 11:00 p.m. daily) that satisfies, while you are served by friendly staff and entertained by passerby and handfuls of people streaming into and out of the lounge. While everyone else seemed to be hitting the sports bars to check out the current World Cup game, my friend and I were just meeting up since it had been a while. We wanted somewhere quiet so we could talk, preferably with decent drinks and food. There's no controlling the cheers from down the street, but we were generally able to carry on a decent conversation while sitting outside. Our server was quite attentive and checked to see whether the pita on the Mediterranean platter had egg for my friend, who has an allergy. We split the platter, and we both ordered a rhubarb/strawberry cocktail. The platter was decent, but the drink seemed diluted. I wouldn't mind going back and trying something else, but overall I didn't find Lottie's Lounge to be especially impressive. read more

Lotties Lounge is a hip Columbia City venture that offers some great sandwiches. The restaurant features a quaint patio section on Ranier Ave and is most famous for it's Sunday brunch and bloody marry selection. Lotties, however, does have some weaknesses that turned me off. ABOUT THE PLACE: The restaurant is staged in an old (perhaps historic) building in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood. The bar section has a great feel to it, however, the dining area has limited seating and tends to feel a little cramped when it gets busy. After being in the space for a while and putting my drink order in, I gave Lotties a closer inspection. What I found was that the restaurant could really use a top-to-bottom cleaning. Dust is piled up on all the fixtures, the floors were dingy and items near the kitchen area (which is open to the dining room) like the speakers were coated in a fine film of yellow grease. Lotties is certainly home to many regulars which in most cases is a good sign, however, I did find myself wanting a higher level of service from the wait staff who spent a fair amount of time chit-chatting with the regulars. THE FOOD: I ordered up the Turkey & Bacon sandwich with Chevre Cream Cheese and opted for the side Cesare Salad for $1 extra. Just when I started to feel like my food was taking a while to come to the table, I saw it hit the window and to the wait staff's credit, they don't let food sit long in the window. If it's ready, they're serving it. The plated presentation was nothing to rave about but the sandwich did look great on it's local Columbia City Bakery roll and the salad looked as it should. I started with the salad and unfortunately didn't make it past the first bite. The lettuce was wilted as though it had been in dressing for too long and I was put-off to find that the dressing contained anchovy paste. While I understand that anchovy isn't uncommon in a Caesar salad, if it's going to be included it absolutely should be printed on the menu. I'm a person who's extremely sensitive to fishy taste so this was not a great way to start my meal. Things took a turn for the better when I started in on my sandwich, however. The bun was crisp on the outside and soft in the center, the lettuce was fresh and crisp, the meat was prepared perfectly and the Chevre cream cheese set the sandwich off nicely without too strong of a goat milk flavor. When I brought my complaints about the anchovy paste in the salad to the server's attention, she was kind enough to knock off the extra $1 charge for the salad. THE GREAT: * The menu offers many selections of great sounding sandwiches * Food doesn't sit around the window once it's ready * The bar staff is friendly and they do serve up several varieties of awesome bloody marrys * The patio section is a great place to enjoy the nice weather for an evening meal THE NOT SO GREAT: * The management needs to drill down on the staff and get the restaurant cleaned up. The dust (think fuzzy cling-ons) is really thick and is hard to ignore * Please include anchovy paste as an ingredient on your menu if you're going to include it in foods * It would be nice if the wait staff offered the same level of service to newbies and regulars alike IN CONCLUSION: If you're looking for a good sandwich I wouldn't let the down sides to this place stop you from trying Lotties, however, you may want to order to-go. read more

Gleaming Gem of Columbia City Morning, Noon, and Night Lottie's has something to offer you. From Bloody Mary Brunch to the DJ filled nights this place will have you fully satisfied. The food is fresh and vibrant and the cocktails are spectacular. The owner and operator Josh creates infused vodkas and special drink features every night. Check out the chalkboard for tonight's featured drink specials. The drink menu is not limited and the tenders here can create just about anything you want to imbibe in. For food the menu is temptingly yummy for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a little snack. The atmosphere is warm and inviting coupled with the great staff and friendly locals, this place can't be beat. Lotties and I have a love love relationship. The staff, the drinks, the patrons are all top notch. I'm timid in even reviewing it as highly as I am as it wouldn't be the same if the Ballard crew moved in on my favorite drinking spot. Josh the owner and his lovely wife Linda "spin" some of the greatest music on Monday nights. Be prepared to rock your wicked 80s sweater or feel out of place. Food is good considering the circumstances. The kitchen is about the size of a shoe box and only one cook on staff at any given time. Did brunch on a Sunday. First strike: on their rotating menu (which is pretty small to begin with), they were out of about 1/3 of it. And they only told us when they came to take the order, rather than when they gave us menus, so we had to make a series of gametime decisions. Second strike: they came back and said in addition to all the other outages, they were out of potatoes, which were the side for two out of our three orders. "We can only do what we can do" said the not-at-all-apologetic, very inattentive waiter. Third strike: portions were small and only arrived after someone walked in with bagels and bacon - that's right, to even make some of the few not-sold-out dishes, they had to go grocery shopping. I really wanted to like this place because it is small and local and I like supporting the small and local places. But, after more than one visit, the best I can say is, "eh." Food is ok, but nothing to go running back for. Service can be aloof. The last time I went, I ordered the soup and salad combo, which is supposed to be served with bread, but was not. When I asked the waitress if I was supposed to get bread with my meal, she quickly said "no," which is just not true. She did offer to bring me a "side" of bread and we were not charged for that. I am new to Columbia City - new to Seattle overall. I have been looking for a neighborhood spot where I can sit at the bar, eat, have a drink and read. I found the place. I really like the quirky ambience in Lottie's. Patrons were friendly without being intrusive and many seemed to know the staff. I had their take on a veggie burger which is sweet potato chick pea patty. I ate it with only some sliced cucumber and their chipotle mayo. Came with a side of terrific salt and vinegar chips. I thought the burger was really, really good though next time i MIGHT put cheese on it. But man, the sliced cucumber on it really worked. I bet it would be killer with sliced avocado. Great food, drink and vibe though I still can't get over the Seattle rule against buying bartenders drinks. read more

I'm a big brunch fan - sort of a "thing" in Seattle. And its a good excuse to try new places and explore different neighborhoods. Anyway, I kept hearing about Geraldine's and hadn't been to Columbia City in ages. But I won't wait in line for breakfast so when a friend mentioned Lottie's was across the street, had killer Bloodies and some friends had recently bought the joint, I raced on down there. The three of us sat immediately and watched the around the corner line at Geraldine's. Within minutes we had some kick ass Bloodies in front of us. Bo the waiter/bartender (as opposed to Bo the owner) was awesome, made some great suggestions and my two companions and I settled in. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Chilaquiles...all 3 were FABULOUS!!! The Chardonnay Hollandaise had that nice little tang of a good hollandaise and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The French Toast was a great combo of flavors with nice browning on the outside and creamy deliciousness on the inside. I think I died and went to heaven when I bit into the Chilaquiles...I'm a sucker for authentic and faux Mexican food. This reminded me of an amazing breakfast I'd had in Mazatlan's market ages ago. Bo kept the drinks rolling and we sat and got all caught up with one another as the place filled up. Never felt rushed and had great attentive service. Since our friend, the owner, wasn't there and it was our first time, we didn't get - or expect - preferential treatment. We got good service, excellent food and killer drinks for a reasonable price in a fun funky atmosphere with a little local history. Can't ask for more than that at brunch. Cocktails made the way they're supposed to be! For craft cocktails in Columbia City I've found that this is the place to go. If you're scared by the small selection of draft beer, ask to see a bottle list. Usually the taps only include Rogers Pilsner, Schooner Exact IPA, and one rotator, (but there are a bunch of bottles of beer and hard cider stashed below if you ask). Their cocktail cherries are the real deal - try them, ask for two - they're not those maraschino typical ones with the formaldehyde that most bars serve. The food is definitely solid; stellar bread crusted Mac and Cheese, as well as some healthy light options liked baked rosemary cashews, etc. but the reasons to come to Lottie's are the craft cocktails and the atmosphere. Friendly locals fill this place with laughter and will probably actually talk to you when you're at the bar. Actually, I like that there is usually an open space at the bar... Maybe I shouldn't be writing this good of a review... If people start to figure out how good this place is, it might get hard to find a spot... Oh well, need to be honest. See you at Lottie's! In an attempt to be less fremont/ballard-centric, we ventured way cross town to Columbia City last Thursday. I loved the creative cocktail selection, focusing on new twists on the classics. If you like Manhattans, try the Sazerac...think Manhattan with Absinthe...watch out! Lottie's has a laid back lounge feel and the Thursday night Dj spun pretty chill beats, but don't expect to be able to seat a large group as the tables are small and the space is a bit cramped. I went here for brunch with my ladies when I was in town last. It's a great space with interesting tarot-themed artwork, brunch food, and a full bar. You can't go too wrong here! I had the amaretto french toast and a mimosa. Both were good, but nothing to do backflips over. A few others had the french toast, some had eggs benny, and one branched out with what was basically a Mexican breakfast lasagna type thing. It was recommended by the waiter who when asked for a suggestion said he never eats there. Hmmm... Okay, let's ignore that for now... Needless to say, it wasn't a great suggestion. A few of the other gals did take advantage of their different types of bloody marys. Jury ruled for the classic and the one with cucumber vodka. I don't know if I would seek this place out, but the neighborhood is really cool so I wouldn't mind stopping in if I was in the area. Wow - what a disaster. We really wanted to like this place and read the 4-star reviews thinking that brunch would be a sure bet. Boy, were we wrong. Like Libby C. (reviewer) I too live near Columbia City and have been to Lottie's for lunch which is much better than their brunch. This review is only for their brunch. (1) It all started when we got a nice seat without waiting as next door with Geraldine's. I really like not having to wait for brunch (but sometime you have to if the food is good). That should have been a warning sign that this place was probably overflow from Geraldine's (2) We ordered some excellent bloody marys (wasabi and hellfire) and mimosas. If we would have stopped the review here, this place gets a 5. (3) enter the food: chilaquiles and their legendary chicken and biscuits ("back by popular demand"). Really the reason why you go for brunch in Seattle is for the food and drinks. Brunch is serious business here and there are so many possibilities that the Stranger does their "Brunch Bible" every year. The brunch here was not good and does not deserve a good review, even one in the 3-range. (3a) The chilaquiles were terrible. Served lasagna style and they looked like they were reheated. How hard is it to make these - I've done it before and it's not hard to do a nice chilaquiles in a quick amount of time. The black beans looked like they were abandoned on the plate and marooned to blandness. Unfortunately, my partner had the misfortune of getting this thinking that we would enjoy some nice fresh made ones, but alas nothing but old tires on this one. Go to Skillet for these - yes, it's a long line and yes the seating is bad, but you will at least get something worth paying for. We had the waiter remove this terrible meal - he was nice so he got a good tip. (3b) I ordered the Chicken and Biscuits. So I have a good imagination - really I do, especially about biscuits and gravy. So this is Chicken and Biscuits, I'm excited. Another disappointment: the biscuits are not fluffy kind you are thinking of and they are smallish. Light on the chicken mix and bland. They even had the audacity to throw two slices of pineapple (...pineapple?) on this plate. If you were any good Lottie's, i get it: we are so cool that we throw pineapple on a plate to make it special or different. Luckily the pineapple was fresh and i really liked it. 5-stars on the pineapple. Wait... I'm reviewing the Chicken and Biscuits here. OK - back to this bad memory... Do yourself a favor and avoid this. (4) So all in all this place was not up to what I expect from any kind of decent brunch place in Seattle. They tried. Kudos to them, but seriously, Lottie's you will need to do better than this. A great and very tasty brunch place is next door to you. I would have much preferred waiting in line at Geraldine's than to go here. I originally gave this place a 1-star but changed to 2-star just out of niceness. My kind of bar: small, laid back, variety of music, has style without being stylish, not too loud. Service was a little slow, but it was an hour before closing on a Sunday night, and I know what that's like. I had a BLT, and it was pretty good, just a little lightweight. The happy hour menu looked intriguing, so I might swing by there after work one of these days. All in all, I see myself going back here at least a couple of times as long as I'm living in CC. read more

I used to live right around the corner from this place. Since then it's blown up which is great for its profits but terrible for finding a seat! Seriously though, there isn't a better bar in the Rainier Valley. It's drinks are good, the food is great (sub Field Roast for free and try their amazing pasta salad) and the vibe is genuine. This place has the best brunch in Seattle, hands down. We first tried it out on our friend Ben's recommendation. I like Columbia City, but hadn't checked anything out there, since it looked kind of pricey. But, you know what? For Lottie's White Wine Hollandaise Sauce, I'd pay more. It's really friggin' good. Probably the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had; better'n The Bongo Room in Chicago (sorry, dudes!), better'n Cafe Zola in Ann Arbor (yeah, I went there), and better'n B&O in Capitol Hill (although B&O's still got mad good corned beef hash). BEST. I think the prices are totally decent for what you're getting: high quality, local-if-you-got-'em, tasty-as-all-get-out brunchfast. Nix that. I meant, "BRUNCHFEST." Go early if you want Chilequiles, as they tend to sell out. There's a wee Bloody Marys menu, if you're into that. We've had them all. It's a tie between the Godzilla (wasabi!) Mary and the house-infused Pepper Vodka one. I'm kind of in love with the Bloody Mary selection. Can't wait to try Lottie's as a night-time drinking bar. Their drink menu looks impressive, beside all the house-infused liquors and old-fashioned swank that's served in buckets (!?) there's a real appeal to a place that is a classy, adult drinking establishment that's not at all fussy or stuffed-up. read more

I felt compelled to give an update to my review, after having visited several more times since my original review. I still like Lottie's, but sadly, not as much. Overall, the service does get really backed up -- right, there's a small kitchen, I get that part. Well, I'm also referring to just getting *anything* -- drinks, food, water, condiments... I went for brunch with my mother recently, I ordered my usual (the savory scramble) and it was cold (which I said nothing about) and I received my biscuit with a garlic/ Italian style schmear (they had an Italian theme that weekend). Usually when you order a biscuit with a non-Italian style meal, you get a plain biscuit, sometimes with jam or butter, but not garlic and whatever else. Talk about bizarro. I asked for a plain biscuit, which I didn't get to the end of my meal, which by that time, I wasn't even interested (oh, I couldn't get butter or jam to save my life). Ack. Then, most recently, I visited with two friends (we had a show at the CC Theater), I went to order my usual fave sandwich (brie, apples, field roast). They discontinued the sandwich. The time I had a sandwich before that, they were out of apples and brie (huh?!). Anyhoo, in addition to them not having my go-to sammich, we were over charged quite a bit for drinks -- we had 3 beers, we were charged for 5, and charged for a cocktail that my friend sent back, because it was so bad she couldn't drink it. I asked multiple times for an extra beer, which never seem to come, and when I finally did get my beer, it was warm (as was my friend's). Typically, they have crisp, cold beer, and the sammich'es are awesome. What the heck has happened in the past month of my visits?! As a previous New Yorker of 16+ years, I get inconsistency. One of my fave places was like this, but we still went, because we loved it so. Lottie's just is getting on my nerves a little too much to care enough to go back now. Getting charged for 5 beers when you had three (and, I had to defend myself, my friend was like -- "there are 3 bottles on the table, just count them!") and the whole PIA about getting what you ordered -- I dunno, I think it's time to find a new dive. read more

My boyfriend and I attempted to have a late lunch at Lotties this last Sat, say around 3pm or so. It wasn't incredibly busy, but up at the bar it was full, so we just seated ourselves at a table by the window. You know when you're hungry and the server takes awhile and it seems like eternity if they don't swing by your table? Well, after waiting what seemed like FOREVER, when in reality it was probably about 10min, we decided to just get up and leave. There was no greeting when we walked in, no "I'll be right with you" or anything. And I completely understand if the bartender/server was all alone, but honestly any type of acknowledgment of our presence would have improved the situation. And I think even having to wait 5 min without being greeted is unacceptable, and I don't have impeccably high standards. You're a freakin' business establishment!!! When people walk through the frontdoor for god's sakes SAY HELLO!! This place is small enough and definitely has a dive-feel to it, that it's perfectly acceptable to just yell over from the bar, "hey sorry I'll be right with you!". Definitely not ever going to come back. Gave it 1 star just for the hell of it really... atmosphere seemed chill and I like how there's an outdoor patio, plus it's literally 5min from our house. I don't think we'll ever be back and I would never recommend this place. It's a shame b/c everyone else seems to love it and there are no decent bars in Columbia City. UGH. read more

Stopped in for a glass of wine. The service was REALLY slow, and not too friendly. I asked to see a menu, never got one. When my boyfriend asked for a refill on his coffee, the server took his mug, and never brought it back. Needless to say, we were not impressed. However, we will probably give it a second chance - everyone is bound to have a bad day, and we would like to try the food before officially dismissing a place. read more
