Normally , I've had good experiences here but not tonight. I placed an online order through toast however, when I got there about an hour and a half later, the manager who was the only one working, said that I did not have an order so there was another 3 to 4 minutes wasted while I was on a tight break already. Granted I did have it as a pick up order, but I can't actually do a dine in because there is not enough time. I've never had an issue doing pick up and eating it at the restaurant however, this time I did, the manager was hesitant to give me silverware because there wasn't any in the bag and no sauces either previous occasions they've included both. I later asked her for pico de gallo and she totally blew me off when I asked her why she said because I did a to go order. Her attitude was very off and might not go there again. read more

My friends and I tried this place because it was one of the restaurants participating in Plate of Nations. We came in and the restaurant was pretty empty - which was a bummer because the food was delicious and the space inside was so pretty and bright. We shared the chicken nachos and an array of tacos, steak and Al pastor. The food was delicious! I got a margarita and that was also tasty. This was our first stop on our Seattle trip. We had a really great server who brought us spicy but tasty salsa with our beer and jalapeno margaritas. Really good marg, btw. The interior is cool and the tv was showing the MNF preview. It's a very chill vibe here, friendly and peaceful. This place gets like 100/10 just for their service. We went there after a long day, super tired, with a toddler who was obviously very hungry. The server went out of his way in making us feel comfortable and quickly getting a plate of rice and beans for the kiddo so he could eat while we ordered. I wanted to hit another spot I like, but they are closer to North Seattle and with 405 closed from Renton to Bellevue, traffic just was a mess for anyone trying to go north from South Seattle. That said, I decided to get a tank of gas and carwash from Costco and that helped to break up the drive as you can reach Costco on surface streets once you clear Boeing, and that is basically where the backup began. My sister, R.I.P. lived in this neighborhood for decades and I think the closest place to eat in the 90's was Georgetown. The only stop we made in this neighborhood was the Shell station which is still standing. Baja Bistro, was modern, and a nice size for the area. Big enough to host a crowd, but not so big that the price per square foot puts you out of business. The menu was decent. You will find some favorites and variations of favorites. So I wouldn't worry about finding something to try. I had two things in mind. 1) Carnitas 2) Carne Asada., They didn't have either, but they had steak tacos, and pork in Verde sauce. I decided to try the pork in Verde sauce. Before we get to that, I need to talk about the chips and salsa. The chips, were light and crisp and the salsa was flat out life changing. Without hesitation the best salsa I've ever had. This is important and I'll circle back later in my review. My issue with Verde sauce is it tends to be tart, if not bitter and for me, meat should be two things, savory and salty. Anything else and I'm really not interested. The sauce was better than expected, but it had a tang that I really didn't like. That said, above average for most Mexican meals, but traditional Carnitas would have been better. Last week I wrote a review about another place. The food was about average, but the hot sauces were weak and it ruined the meal. Here, the salsa breathed new life into this meal. The spice and heat of the salsa, overtook the tang and I enjoyed my plate thoroughly! No ground beef here and they do have a large meat selection, but oddly enough, all meats are not advertised with all items, but the server told me you can always ask, so even though the nachos say shredded chicken or shredded beef, maybe you can add steak or chorizo? Prices were fair, service was flawless and the portion was on point for the price paid. My meal was probably 3.5/5, but that salsa was 10/5 making this a 5/5 experience. Before you come, that salsa has more kick than a Kung Fu contest, so if you like ketchup on your tacos, don't play with this salsa, you'll be dancing like P Diddy in prison! read more

I really wanted to like this neighborhood spot after they moved, but something is lacking. It's not quite like it used to be. Got the chicken burrito and it was all chicken breast and super dry. They did give a small sauce container of salsa, but it wasn't enough to save it. I wish there was sour cream or guac or something to make the burrito less dry. Flavor wasn't there, either. I was meeting my bf for a night of dancing at Clock-out. I had taken the Light Rail to Beacon Hill, and had a big-time blood sugar crash, and there like a beacon out of the dark night skies appeared a lil LGBTQ+ taco place. I was greeted by the amazing bar tender who immediately served me strawberry lemonade and some chips & salsa. Boy howdy, that was some of the best salsa I'd ever tasted in my whole life. I don't know what the chef puts in there, but it's got such an amazing balance of flavors and the perfect little kick. I ended up ordering the Torta, which was the least messy sandwich I've ever had the pleasure of feeding to my face. I saw flyers for a drag brunch that occurs a couple times a month, and I am so excited to be able to attend. In conclusion, the vibe and friendliness of this place is amazing. Decent Mexican restaurant in Beacon Hill. I never went to their old location so I did not know what to expect. I tried the chicken mole enchiladas and it was pretty good! Reviewing for: After work snacks Super excited to see the new space they redesigned (with the support of La Union!) and grab some after work snacks on a friday. Location: easy to get to and accessible via light rail- there's street parking as well but it's become more limited with restaurants open so go early to find a spot on the street. Food: My friend and I ordered the fish tacos and the rockfish ceviche. The ceviche was my favorite of the two and would definitely have it again. We weren't drinking but they did have drink specials- $ off wells and beers. Space + Service: Loved that they had two spaces that joined together- there's a bar 21+ and then a restaurant area where the restrooms are located. Although we weren't drinking, we opted for bar to avoid kids. Plenty of seating and can't wait to be back for their drag performances on Fridays! Bathrooms were superb- two gender neutral bathrooms and perfect for bathroom photos. Service was great- bartender was patient as we chose and we hung around well after we finished our food. Overall: This place feels like a community restaurant/locals spot. It was nice to see owners and locals convene for a few shots after work and can't wait to be back! Great job, baja! read more

It's very light and colorful, lots of cool art and fun music. I came on a Saturday for brunch, got the breakfast burrito $12 and a bloody Mary $13. The burrito was big and delicious. Same with the Bloody Mary. Good for kids and for adults. There's a bar section and a family dining section. Very inviting ambiance. Gotta go, peace out and party on my fellow Yelpians. Popped in late after a soccer game--first time ever. Bartender was awesome! Drinks were tasty and strong. Guy super friendly! The chips and salsas, sauces, and guacamole--so yummy with just the right amount of heat. Tortilla shells were homemade! Apparently everything is made in-house! Nice!!! We sat in the front bar area and I had the fish tacos which were pretty good! Nice open bar area with high ceilings but more importantly, our house margs were refreshing on a hot, Seattle Summer day. I also really liked the corn tortillas that were were grilled just right...they were bliss! Where we sat in the front allowed us to enjoy watching people walk by outside through the western facing, big windows. It was fun to see Beacon Hill thrive more. Ambience is great! Our server was delightful even though there was absolutely no diet soda. None. That's pretty unusual. He was very gracious about it, but he said someone forgot to order it. ? I took my 75-year-old Chinese mother-in-law to this place to have her first Mexican meal, needless to say she didn't like it. That said, Baja Bistro was very accommodating and understanding of this adventurous woman and specially cooked her two eggs to supplant for the enchiladas that she was unaccustomed to eating and unable to finish. My fiancé also tried her first enchiladas and she did not like them either so they switched her meal out, no charge, and gave her the Puerco Salsa Verde, again they were very accommodating. I ordered a red wine and they brought it to me in a stemless glass which I cannot stand. Again, they were very accommodating and brought me a stemmed wine glass. The ambience was great being well placed for plenty of natural sunlight and the music was upbeat and the artwork on the walls is beautiful. Mauricio, our waiter, was very friendly and super helpful and understanding. We will definitely be back, well, ok, I will definitely be back, not sure about Mom or my girl. The restaurant is in my neighborhood so I went last night to support and the food was OK. I finished dinner and sat for 25 minutes waiting for someone to stop by the table and bring my bill. When that didn't happen, I walked to the register in the bar and the owner snapped at me very angrily "just give me a minute!" When, to be fair - I had just walked up and wasn't interrupting or anything - went back to my table, and when he finally came with the bill told him I didn't think it was OK and he was rude to me yet again - so I won't go back. Yes! I hardly remember to update reviews, but I just had to with Baja Bistro! This place is awesome and you should eat and hang out here. Since Baja Bistro is close to where my bestie lives, he likes to come here and watch sports and get a bloody maria. He's a regular here. So when he wanted to meet here again and watch part of the game here I thought, why not? Maybe the dine-in experience will be way better than when we picked up food the last time. We ordered margaritas and for food, I ordered the Chilaquiles because someone sitting nearby ordered it and I was drunk enough to wrap my arm around the guy and ask, "WHAT IS THAT? It looks amazing!" Sure enough, he told me it was the chilaquiles and confessed that he ate it every week. How convincing is that? The chilaquiles dish was fantastic! I've never had this dish before, so was surprised to learn how yummy chips soaked in a tomato base with scrambled eggs and for an additional fee, chorizo could be! I've been missing out on a lot. It was a delicious brunch, that had awesome flavor and a good spicy kick. And I would be remissed if I didn't tell you how sweet and friendly the owner and staff are here? The employees are awesome, engage with the customers and love the Seahawks so much that they literally jump up and down at every touchdown. How freakin' cool are they? The mushy rice and salty refried pinto beans were off putting, and the enchiladas consisted of 3 soft tacos with a flavorless salsa poured on top. This place has a lot going for it: a bright and spacious interior, although a bit cacophonous when busy; a fun bar; a friendly serving staff; and a great location for people-watching as folks head to and from the Beacon Hill Link Station. However, it badly needs a kitchen rescue! We have visited for dinner at least a half-dozen times and each time I've tried a different entree. The food is edible but the flavors range from bland to boring. I can find more imaginative cooking at my mom's nursing-home dining room. I want to support this LGBTQ-friendly neighborhood business, so I might stop in for a cocktail and plate of nachos, now and then. Full disclosure, I've been a Baja Bistro fan for a long time. I loved the old place and am happy to have the new space to enjoy the food, drinks and good company. I love the atmosphere and drop by often! I've had most of the items on the menu. It's legit Baja food, cooked by the owner's sister, with their grandmother's recipes. My favorite is the Chili Relleno with salsa verde. I love the ceviche and shimp cocktail too. Don't be afraid to ask for a variety of salsas and extra home made tortillas! I used to love this place in the old location. I had high hopes for the re-opening, but after a second visit I can't justify going back with so many better options nearby. Staff was nice and friendly. The ambience was weird. Tables oddly spaced and layout just a bit off. It's a little too bright and is not comfortable. We ordered fish tacos. They were OK. The tortilla was nice. The fish was nicely fried with a light batter. It was topped with chopped green cabbage. That's it! No pico, no cilantro, nothing else. The 'sauce' on the side was ketchup and mayonnaise mixed. The salsa was tasty. The whole thing looked sad and tasted a bit better, but for the price it was disappointing. El Qetzal down the street was better and less expensive with stiffer drinks. read more

I came here at 3pm for Happy Hour and the restaurant was empty. So I got to sit anywhere I wanted. It started to pick up near 3:45pm. Right when we sat down, the kind waiter gave us ice water and offered us chips & salsa. I ordered Steak Tacos off the menu and not from the $2.00 Happy Hour tacos because I like my tacos with refried beans and rice. The food portion is generous and hot! So I know it is fresh. I wish the steak had more flavor to it though! So next time, I'll try the burrito and check out the bar! Or breakfast food (but you must come before 3pm). Haven't been here since the old location. The new spot is bright and friendly. We were greeted quickly and offered a spot. Chips and a very tasty salsa were provided. The place has a restaurant side and a bar side. It wasn't crazy busy, but there were people hanging out. I liked how relaxed it was. Our server was very friendly and attentive! The menu had a great selection of tacos, burritos, and more traditional plates. I ordered the mole enchiladas and my husband got a pork verdes dish. We also ordered a couple of margaritas (they were good). The chicken mole was ok. I liked the sauce but the chicken was very dry. there was plenty of sauce though so it was fine. The rice and beans were a great addition. My husband's pork verde dish was really great! The pork was very moist. He liked the homemade type tortillas.
