Cheese steak with wayy too much fried pickle chips.
Linh N.

I love this place so much. It's been awhile since I've been here but I stopped for a late lunch with my bf and food was so good. We both got the cheesesteak and fried pickles. I wish my bf got fries but he wanted his own plate of fried pickles so we had twice the serving for any person haha. Service was great. The staff was so friendly. It's a lot brighter in here than I remember but decor and environemt was great. Definitely my favorite gem of a place.

Gardener scramble

Two friends and I came here for brunch this morning. The waiter/bartender was super friendly and attentive. We each decided to get scrambles, I opted for the gardener, which was served on top of breakfast potatoes. The portions were huge and although I found the potatoes to be very salty on their own, they were much better when eaten together with the eggs and veggies. I'd definitely recommend considering Shadowland if you're looking for a good weekend brunch in West Seattle.

Super chill bar that has the open vibe feel to it. This was our last stop for the evening, and we ended up with some good drinks and also a snack.

I have been to Shadowland a couple of times, and it has been okay. The prior reviews seem to discuss poor service. I wanted to go somewhere where I could walk to, and after looking at the menu, I decided to try Shadowland again. I had already decided before entering that I was going to have the Nurse Pattie's Melt, their version of a patty melt. It was very good. The caramelized onions, Russian dressing, and the cheese, made the burger to be above average. The meat itself could use more seasoning, but overall it was excellent. The French fries that the burger was served on top of were hot, crisp, but the majority of the fries consisted of small pieces as the picture depicts. The issue is the service. There were no more than ten other guests in the restaurant, but it took too long to be greeted. I asked what red wines were available or what did the server suggest. He just didn't know what was being served, but after I asked for a Pinot Noir or a nice blend, he came back with a very nice Pinot Noir. He did not know it was, but said he would check. It was Violet Hills, from Rogue Valley in Oregon. It was $12 a glass, and well worth it. The oddity is that the receipt stated Foris as the Pinot Noir being rung in. I watched a nearby couple come in, and they waited for over five minutes to being greeted. Again, only about a dozen other guests in the restaurant. The couple asked about which IPA's available, but again, the server had no idea. He did point out the beers being written on a board in the restaurant. I just can't figure out what Shadowland is trying to be. The previous night I went to a restaurant that was less than a mile away, and they had a 45 minute wait. Shadowland has a nice menu, but more focus on all of the food and the service is critical if Shadowland desires more volume.

Went to Shadowland West - my understanding is this place is hot again and cold again. I see kind of the same with the reviews here. Well I can say the food was 5 stars when I went there and there was a small crowd so these people must know something. Service was mostly good sometimes had to wave someone down but the food was 5 stars. Chicken Fried steak was money the corned beef has was beautiful. Bloody Mary's spicy and a good pour I was buzzing on one which is great! If this place is hot and cold it's definitely hot right now!!

Super cool energetic atmosphere here! Visited Shadowland briefly while waiting for our dinner reservation close by. This is a very casual and lively bar serving good cocktails. From observing the food scene here, I could tell they serve up DELICIOUS bar food. Everyone seem to be enjoying their meal. i'm so glad I stumbled upon this bar, will definitely visit again!

dined in here once about a year ago, was not impressed by any means. barely passable bar food and that's being pretty generous. tonight i placed a takeout order. not only was there a hair in the burger, there appears to have been a bite taken out of it. disgusting. upon realizing this, i called the restaurant. the bar tender who answered the phone was dismissive, rude, and laughed and said it wasn't a bite taken out of it, but if i brought the burger back they would refund the burger (not the entire order). wouldn't take care of this issue over the phone. or i could dm them about it on instagram and they'd get back to me in two days. i returned the entire order to the restaurant. 2 minutes later the manager called me, very apologetic. refunded the full order. TLDR: food sucks. it will come with hairs and be partially eaten. and the service and people who work there don't understand basic customer service. will never go back. honestly shocked they are still in business.

The food was very good, and fairly priced considering it is in West Seattle. The patty melt was amazing!! The french dip was very good, the poutine was perfect, and the broccoli was fantastic. I also got a Shirley Temple and the waiter bought me a free refill without even having to ask! They also played some very good music! Will definitely be coming back.

I've tried the big names like Metropolitan, Capital Grille, John Howie, and The Butcher's Table, but this place remains my favorite for a true American steakhouse experience. We actually drove to the old location first, saw the sign, and then headed over to the new spot just a short distance away. I usually go to the Issaquah location, but this time we visited West Seattle. The old space had a cozy charm, while the new one feels much more modern. The happy hour menu has changed a bit, but we still enjoyed a glass of house red, mac & cheese, and a Caesar salad before sharing a 14oz ribeye. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium‑rare, and the bartender was genuinely friendly. Even the house red was better than expected. Issaquah still wins for me but we still had a great night eating, laughing, and catching up. Happy hour runs 4-6pm at the bar only, and our ribeye came with one side for $68. And if you haven't tried their brunch yet, it's surprisingly good.

It makes me rethink all the fries that I've had lately. I don't even know why I've bothered, they've just filled my tummy. These fries were delicious. We enjoyed a couple great cocktails and I had a yummy nut brown ale that was made in a healthy way I guess so I didn't get the headache that beers usually give me. The steak salad dressing was really good. The steak was a little chewy but otherwise the portion was fair and it was tasty. I decided on the Veggie Monster omelet, which came with a choice of grits or hash browns and toast. I opted for the hash browns, and asked for them to be well done, because in Seattle, they serve hash browns undercooked. The omelet was good, though it lacked flavor and was a little light on cheese. The hash browns were crispy on the top, and raw underneath. Tip: if you ever order breakfast in Seattle, ask for the hash browns to be cooked on both sides. The meal was filling and was accompanied by a cup of good coffee. The waitress was super friendly and came by often to refill my coffee. Overall, this is a decent place to grab breakfast, and I'd recommend it to anyone in West Seattle.

He pointed to a water dispenser with lukewarm water and plastic cups. He gave us a few minutes then returned to take our order. The menu was small but it did have some healthy options. Not just typical bar food. It seemed like the perfect happy hour place! I had some questions about spiciness of one of the entrees. But he didn't seem to know much about feedback about it. I ordered it anyway. It was a little more spicy than I'm used to but it was delicious. He stopped by to check on us more than halfway through the meal. I asked him for some ice and he promptly brought two cups. The patio was lovely! Not much of a view as they had a big fence blocking it, but it still felt very open and breezy. Very intimate and nicely decorated. I would have given five stars had the waiter been a little more welcoming and there were a few more dishes offered. The menu was paper and a bit worn. It made me wonder how many had touched it. Perhaps a QR code would work for them if they don't wish to laminate their menu. Or just put specials on a blackboard. Not just drinks.

These are the best cheese curds ever bc the batter isn't heavy like other cheese curds I've had. It's tempura battered so it's light and you can taste the cheese more. The jalapeño strawberry dip and ranch are good dips, but try them together and it will blow your mind. The fried green beans were okay. They did have a heavier batter on them and I wish they had the same batter the cheese curds had. The spicy dip was good! The rosemary popcorn was delicious! It had just enough butter and the perfect amount of rosemary where it's not overpowering. Once you get to the bottom, there's tons of butter and you just dip and soak it up with the popcorn. The hosts were very welcoming and go us seated at the bar when it was only two of us. When we informed them about an hour prior to kick off that we needed two more seats, they did their best to get us seated. It was very kind of them to even look around, let alone actually find us space. This was very much appreciated. The first hour or so, when there was only two of us, we had a few beers, the cheese curds and the chicken fried steak with potatoes. The beers were exactly what you think they would taste like and they weren't terribly expensive which was nice. The cheese curds were a great shareable item, good flavor and a fair amount of them. The chicken fried steak was good, nothing crazy, but not below average. Portion was good sand it was cooked right to have that nice crips on the outside with the gravy poured over top. I think the only thing I wasn't that big of a fan of was the potatoes, I should've opted for the tots or hash potatoes instead, but I'll have to try it again. Yes, I would recommend this place. Truthfully I had never heard of it but the menu sounded delicious so we gave the go ahead. It's in a cute area of West Seattle that I haven't really explored much. It was easy to find and there was ample parking around the building. We also discovered the cutest bar across the street afterwards (shoutout West Admiral Pub!) after, so it was the perfect spot for a leisurely Sunday brunch. The inside is light, bright, and airy. Natural light made it feel really refreshing and welcoming. I loved all of the plants too!
