We came to Shadowland on Friday at 10:15 PM for a drink and a snack. We were able to be seated right away. I got a kick out of both Star Wars and SpongeBob being played on the bar TVs while we decided on our order! Loved the chill vibe here. We ordered pickle chips to split-these were INCREDIBLE-they came with ranch, and they were crispy and chewy. They were addicting, and not greasy, oily or heavy in the batter they used to fry them. These managed to be both filling and light. Absolute win. I ordered an ABV free drink, True North. This was one of my favorite drinks I have ever had. I loved this combination of lime, ginger beer, hibiscus and the Pathfinder Hemp & Root. This was my first time trying this line of ABV free spirit, and I was blown away. True North was refreshing, not too sweet, bubbly and bright. We will definitely be coming back-there were lots of foods and cocktails we wanted to try. read more

Drinks for the drinkers. A decent food menu, but I'll get into that more in a bit. It has a nice atmosphere, but wait staff can be hit or miss. You might have to wait for them to remember what they are selling, or flag them down for a check. If there were drink specials that made more sense, I could see a legitimate reason to spend time here drinking. This Goblin would pass on the food. I don't come here to eat. The food: expensive for what it is. Long ago dear reader, this Goblin worked in food service. He can spot "ready-made foods" from a mile away. This place leans more "eating to satiate", than "eating to satisfy", no matter how hard I fight my Goblin brain. Each meal, I come to terms with the sucker I am for eating a $27 omelette before tip. Herein lies our problem dear reader. Do I want a hummus plate for $12-15, that is essentially a disassembled and then reassembled menagerie of pre-made product on a plate? Or how about a cup of some mid-gumbo for $8? As a Goblin I have eaten many old soups out of a dirty cauldron, but Mid-Gumbo tastes like how Jack Harlow must feel waking up and telling himself he got blacker. God their steak is so terrible. I got their steak and fries and I have never had steak so tough. I wanted to make sure it was not just me and my partner who got a salad with steak sad the same thing. The steak was dry and tough to chew on. On top of that the fries are a huge salt bomb and mostly ends. No potato. Save yourself some money and just buy a beer. read more

I love this place so much. It's been awhile since I've been here but I stopped for a late lunch with my bf and food was so good. We both got the cheesesteak and fried pickles. I wish my bf got fries but he wanted his own plate of fried pickles so we had twice the serving for any person haha. Service was great. The staff was so friendly. Two friends and I came here for brunch this morning. The waiter/bartender was super friendly and attentive. We each decided to get scrambles, I opted for the gardener, which was served on top of breakfast potatoes. The portions were huge and although I found the potatoes to be very salty on their own, they were much better when eaten together with the eggs and veggies. Me and my girlfriend came here tonight and the server who's blonde was amazing can't remember his name !! Super attentive and sweet he was amazing ! The only thing i would say was about food we ordered the shrimp skewers they were really good! But we also got the hummus plate and sadly the hummus was just really bland for $18$ not worth it! I also ordered a dirty martini and my best friend's Cosmo. We're both great. Everything overall is good. Just don't order the hummus plate for the price not worth it ! read more

Have never had a good experience here. Most recently I was charged $22 for a middling non-fancy cocktail, which was a nasty surprise. I really didn't expect a $50 bill for one drink and an entree, especially when I explicitly asked for well liquor. The staff are always friendly, service is decent, the food tastes okay. Even the exorbitant prices aren't (usually) too far beyond what might be expected of Seattle food these days. As a whole, though, I have never left Shadowland feeling like it was worth my time or money. I've just never felt good being here. The vibes are bad. I don't know how else to explain it. We have been regulars at this restaurant for 15 years and we have always brought our service dog with us in a closed Sherpa bag. We have never been confronted by any staff member before and we've seen the parade of staff come and go quite frequently, with the exception of our favorite bartender, who is the one constant and is amazing. She has a loyal following of regulars and we will miss her. We love the food and the fact that it is 21 and older and tried to go there at least once a week when they were open during Covid-19, but we won't be back and we will make sure that our family and friends won't be either. It was a week yesterday when we went in for happy hour and I was hassled immediately by the latest "newbie" who probably was 5 when this restaurant opened. He immediately started hassling me about "the dog" in the bag and wanted me to open it, it didn't matter that she is a service dog and it is against the law to hassle people with service animals or demand that we show you proof, but that didn't stop this bartender on a power trip. What kills me is that he was bartending the last time we were in and didn't say a word about "our bag" and the owner who he used as a scapegoat has never said a word either. Maybe he was all jacked up because it was the beginning of pride month or he thought he would be a hero and try and earn brownie points with his new boss. But he just pissed off and lost two regular customers for this establishment and I guarantee that his tenure at Shadowland will not last the 15 years we've been patrons. read more

I have been to Shadowland a couple of times, and it has been okay. The prior reviews seem to discuss poor service. I wanted to go somewhere where I could walk to, and after looking at the menu, I decided to try Shadowland again. I had already decided before entering that I was going to have the Nurse Pattie's Melt, their version of a patty melt. It was very good. The caramelized onions, Russian dressing, and the cheese, made the burger to be above average. The meat itself could use more seasoning, but overall it was excellent. The French fries that the burger was served on top of were hot, crisp, but the majority of the fries consisted of small pieces as the picture depicts. The issue is the service. There were no more than ten other guests in the restaurant, but it took too long to be greeted. I asked what red wines were available or what did the server suggest. He just didn't know what was being served, but after I asked for a Pinot Noir or a nice blend, he came back with a very nice Pinot Noir. He did not know it was, but said he would check. It was Violet Hills, from Rogue Valley in Oregon. It was $12 a glass, and well worth it. The oddity is that the receipt stated Foris as the Pinot Noir being rung in. I watched a nearby couple come in, and they waited for over five minutes to being greeted. Again, only about a dozen other guests in the restaurant. The couple asked about which IPA's available, but again, the server had no idea. He did point out the beers being written on a board in the restaurant. I just can't figure out what Shadowland is trying to be. The previous night I went to a restaurant that was less than a mile away, and they had a 45 minute wait. Shadowland has a nice menu, but more focus on all of the food and the service is critical if Shadowland desires more volume. read more

Went to Shadowland West - my understanding is this place is hot again and cold again. I see kind of the same with the reviews here. Well I can say the food was 5 stars when I went there and there was a small crowd so these people must know something. Service was mostly good sometimes had to wave someone down but the food was 5 stars. Chicken Fried steak was money the corned beef has was beautiful. Bloody Mary's spicy and a good pour I was buzzing on one which is great! If this place is hot and cold it's definitely hot right now!! read more

dined in here once about a year ago, was not impressed by any means. barely passable bar food and that's being pretty generous. tonight i placed a takeout order. not only was there a hair in the burger, there appears to have been a bite taken out of it. disgusting. upon realizing this, i called the restaurant. the bar tender who answered the phone was dismissive, rude, and laughed and said it wasn't a bite taken out of it, but if i brought the burger back they would refund the burger (not the entire order). wouldn't take care of this issue over the phone. or i could dm them about it on instagram and they'd get back to me in two days. i returned the entire order to the restaurant. 2 minutes later the manager called me, very apologetic. refunded the full order. TLDR: food sucks. it will come with hairs and be partially eaten. and the service and people who work there don't understand basic customer service. will never go back. honestly shocked they are still in business. read more

The food was very good, and fairly priced considering it is in West Seattle. The patty melt was amazing!! The french dip was very good, the poutine was perfect, and the broccoli was fantastic. We went to Shadowland one Sunday morning for lunch. Everywhere else was busy, but this ended up being a pretty open and very wonderful choice after all! My mom and I had some lavender gin drinks. They were so delicate and lovely! We also got salads and they were HUGE. I love a big salad, so this was right up my alley. My mom has been back a few times after our visit and always has positive reviews of her meals here. I have to admit that it looks dark and a little questionable from the outside, but Shadowland is a solid choice for lunch! read more

Good stop for weekend brunch. Good variety on the menu. Hash was tasty and filling but the veg kept it from being a total gut buster. I am not sure why this place has 3.5 stars. The food was very good and I would come back again. The service was also good, not super fast but the servers were polite, kind and friendly, and I didn't feel rushed which is ideal for brunch. The brunch menu, drinks/cocktail selection was great. As someone who's eaten in major cities like Los Angeles, etc. this is definitely a great brunch spot. Great for a day date or just a place to try new food and drinks solo. Tables are big and it wasn't so crowded it felt loud or uncomfortable - I actually can't believe it wasn't more busy on a Saturday. Don't want to gate keep tho. We went in for brunch this morning, after a lot of a week for all of us. The server was Fantastic, clever, funny, thoughtful and had put on cute animal videos on the screens which was beyond fantastic. They should probably mention their cheesesteak is just ground beef, and is just a flavorless dry sloppy joe on a hoagie. Couldn't tell you how the caramelized onions and whiz tasted because (as you can see) there was none! I was hoping I could salvage it with their homemade ranch, but the ranch was completely watered down. My partner had the Mac and cheese that was covered with a burned layer of cheese on top and raw bacon inside ,which was a $2 add on that we did not ask for.
