We went on a Sunday night with the sole intention of getting a burger. We got two smash burgers, and some fries and mozzarella sticks. The burgers were super good! Fries were skinny which is a personal favorite of mine, and the mozzarella sticks were in point. Nothing crazy for the sticks, but they were fried just right. I think they have different chefs but I believe the head chef is there Sunday nights. I highly recommend going in for a smash burger! read more

Was so so excited to come here on Valentine's Day with my partner. We got there around 7 pm and put our name into the pool queue. A couple on one of the tables only played one game over the course of the 3 ish hours we waited for a table (they spent the rest of the time making out in the corner) and the staff didn't care. We ended up waiting for a table to open up for more than 3 hours. Bummer for our Valentine's Day. I figured because this place is designated for games and pool they would put in the slightest effort to keep things moving and keep people playing but it seems they have no protocol for that. Don't come here if you want to get a quick game of pool unless you're there when it's dead. read more

Excellent for Pinball. Good value pinball. Food, decent. Beer, plentiful. Bartenders, friendly enough. It's still got a bad rep for old events but give em a chance. They have decent food but it could be better, beer selection is very good. Pool and darts as well. I wish they played closed captions on the television especially cause they got some good shows playing but like the sounds off sooo you're just watching it. What a fun spot! I don't get out much in West Seattle, but really glad we decided to check this place out. A group of us got together for my 30th birthday and hit up brunch in the area. We were eager to keep spending time together and a local suggested the Corner Pocket. I'm sure the vibe is much different when it's the evening time and full of people. But for a first experience, it was so much fun being the only ones in the venue! Imagine a cool underground dive bar and this is the place. You take an eerie and steep staircase downstairs and you arrive inside. There's poop tables, darts, skee ball, pinball! Even the juke box machines you load up from your app. Bartender made some strong drinks! They apparently also have food, but we didn't check that out since we had just eaten. It's a bit of a stretch to call this place a dive. It has the same funky charm that a good dive should, and it's a bit off the radar for most folks, even in the neighborhood. But it's a slice above dive status. Maybe a small slice, but it still counts. First of all, just finding this place was like finding buried treasure. It's down a flight of stairs I've walked past dozens of times and never noticed before. It's right under Easy Street, so odds are you've been by here yourself plenty of times, too. You walk in and it's pretty much a pool hall. There's a fully functional bar to your right, where you also get a rack of balls. The tap list is alright, and the top shelves actually have a few of the more common top shelf liquors. The tables are straight, if not immaculately felted. The sticks are pretty straight for the most part, and there's chalk out. Around past the bar, there's a viewing lounge with tables and chairs and TVs; clearly they show some sports here, though we were here late to shoot stick. Bottom line, this is a fairly clean, very comfortably lived-in bar where you could easily hang out for hours. I loved finding it and I will definitely be back. read more

Corner Pocket is a totally different place now that it has new ownership and the owners/bartenders aren't engaged in illegal activities. The new owners, in fact, also are involved with the Local 907 and the arcade, 8 Bit, across the street from each other in Renton. First of all, for the uninitiated, CP is located underneath, in the basement, of Easy Street Records and you could easily miss the entry door if you're not paying attention. From California Ave, you immediately start walking down a fairly dark and somewhat steep staircase before you reach the door. The pool table area is cleaned up, upgraded and has a nice new coat of paint. They have dart boards, Skee Ball and a number of pinball machines. There are plenty of TVs around so you can watch the game while you sip your drink or between your turns at the pool tables. They have a nice selection of 6-7 beers on tap, most of which are Seattle area microbreweries. I've never had any of the food here, so I can't comment on that, but I imagine their food menu consists primarily of fried bar food. Corner Pocket is a good place to have a few drinks and play some pool or bar games and hang out with friends after work. read more

So, a friend and I are out last night and we have a post-dinner hankering for some pool sharkin'. We start running through our options - Temple is too expensive on the weekends, the Canterbury is down to one table now and full of brogrammers these days, it's impossible to park around the Summit Pub, Dante's burned down... options are slim. Then the internet tells us about the existence of Corner Pocket, so we say to hell with it and drive on over. It's a little hard to find - the address is on Alaska but the entrance is on California... okay. We locate it, descend the stairs, scope out the situation and order up a couple of drinks. The bartender gets my drink wrong, but he's super nice about it, so it's fine. We wait a few minutes for a couple to finish their game and turn in the rack of pool balls to the bartender, at which point I go up to the bar and ask if I can grab the table after them. There's no waiting list, so the bartender hands me the rack and asks for a credit card or ID to hold the table. I say sure, and hand over my card since I'm drinking and have a tab going anyway. Keep in mind that this is the extent of our interaction about the pool tables. Another friends comes to meet us, we play a few games of pool, have a few drinks, chat and people watch. Everything is fine. The bar is fine. The bartenders are nice, the ambiance is that of your standard subterranean dive, the crowd is a typical mix of grizzled barflies, frat bro-types and hipster couples on their first Tinder dates. There's a juke box that plays anything from Rammstein to Danzig to Queen (our soundtrack of the night). The only thing that slightly concerns me is an incredibly intoxicated man that somehow keeps getting served at the bar. He is literally dozing off on his feet in between incoherently attempting to hit on several of the women in the place, and yet, for some reason, one of the bartenders still served him a drink. After a minute or so of swaying on his feet at the bar, his half-empty drink is finally taken away, he stumbles away to the back of the bar (presumably, the bathroom) and disappears for a good thirty minutes. Eventually, he returns and stumbles out of the bar. The bartenders cheer quietly as he leaves - yet no one attempted to cut him off, check up on him or send him home. Shortly after, we're all pooled out and ready to leave. I go to close my tab, and am presented with a bill of $31 - for two ciders and a vodka red bull. I ask for an itemized receipt, and one of the bartenders explains to me that it's $5/beer, however much for the vodka red bull - and $15 for an hour and a half of pool. I am stunned, because there is not a single sign in the joint that mentions a charge for the pool tables, and the bartender didn't mention it when I went to ask for the rack. I think it's a safe bet to assume that, if I'm not informed of a charge, there isn't one. I'm pissed, but I pay, because what choice do I have? And we leave. It feels incredibly dishonest to charge for pool without disclosing the charge upfront. If we'd known there was a cost, we would have been fine with paying and might have known to be conscious of our time. But with no signs, none of the bartenders mentioning the hourly rate (and honestly, $10/hour is rather steep for their mediocre tables) and no itemized bill (and I had to ask for a copy of my credit card receipt) it feels like I've been tricked and I'm still super salty about it. This bait-and-switch, combined with the fact that they don't seem to cut people off, has completely turned me off of what otherwise might have been a solid dive bar option. read more

The Corner Pocket. A hidden dive-ish bar beneath Easy Street Records on California in West Seattle and the scene of a recent birthday juke-jacking. Oh yes. A group of 8 or so folks, still reeling from fried chicken overload at Ma Ono's, roving the streets of West Seattle in search of after-dinner drinks, stumbles upon the Corner Pocket after various failed attempts to get drinks at other area bars. Yeah, West 5 had no space for us and Shadow House smelled so bad inside we couldn't even stay long enough to order a drink. But Corner Pocket was there for us, waiting to offer up a decent beer selection, friendly bartenders, stiff drinks, the Timbers (you cannot stop us) on the telly and to my great enjoyment, a TouchTunes jukebox. A jukebox that was, at the time, playing some seriously bad butt-rock (Bon Jovi anyone?). We snagged a table in the back and I immediately took stock of the situation. Our last bearable bar option in West Seattle and no chance were we going to stay for more than one drink in the currently grim musical environment. That's when I learned up my group on how to successfully jack the vibe at a bar via the TouchTunes app on iPhone. We went from shouting over country music to enjoying a few drinks over the likes of Outkast, Broken Bells, Mayer Hawthorne, Souls of Michief, People Under The Stairs and various other quality tunes. Now with these jams in effect, the Corner Pocket is a pretty solid place to spend some time. Cheap drinks, way nice bartenders, sports on TV, pool tables, darts and a bottle of Fernet on the shelf. Many of the elements I'd enjoy in a dive. It's a little bright in there, but I could get over that. And the crowd? Mostly folks keeping to themselves and having a good time. However if I weren't in the mood to drop some coin to jack the juke here, I wouldn't be in to hanging with the kind of music that some of the other folks were playing (Georgia On My Mind? At midnight on a Saturday? Seriously? You want everyone in the bar to fall asleep or something?). Anyway, I'm not sure if the other folks/regulars in there were super stoked on our music choices, but it really did make the whole experience that much more enjoyable for us, and with our dominance in place, I'd say that it was a positive experience. read more

Dark, hidden, stinky, strong drinks hole in the wall dive bar. This is the kinda bar you go to with a group of friends. Because friends make even the weirdest places fun! The drinks were strong, not bad can't drink strong but you could really taste the booze. Service wasn't the best. Waited for what felt like forever to not be noticed. Service wasn't the best. Get there early if want a table the places get crowded as the night goes on. read more

What a shock! This underground pool hall below Easy Street Records at the Alaska Junction looks shady if you were to walk by the entrance, but as you enter, you find this is actually a state of the art bar hosting new pool tables, flat screens and top notch bar. I brought a dozen of my friends over to play some billiards a couple weekends ago, and I'm looking to bring my friends back for a little Corner Pocket sequel. Good times! read more

The Corner Pocket is one of my favorite dive bars. Conveniently located beneath Easy Street Records in West Seattle, the Corner Pocket doesn't pretend to be anything but a dive bar/pool hall. The drinks are strong and inexpensive, but beware of the tipping chairs. We usually average 3-5 tipped chairs a night. I also think it's fun to return to the scene of the crime the next morning and have your hangover breakfast in Easy Street, ten or twelve feet above where you acquired said hangover. read more

This is the only place I know in West Seattle that has several full-sized pool tables, as opposed to the almost toy-sized ones you'll find at Admiral Pub up the street. And since most of the folks in there seem more interested in drinking and talking than playing pool, getting a table is usually no issue. I think the description "dive bar" is a little off, considering there's no creepy vibe in there at all. The bartenders are all cool, and the drinks are strong and inexpensive, but it's not full of career alchoholics. Drinkers, for sure, but no lowlifes that I've seen. read more

The small backlight sign with martini glass and pool cue screams old school. Unfortunately upon walking into the space the only old school I was transported to felt like the basement of a friend's house in high school. There are three tables, a few flat screens, and a bar, but I couldn't get over the feeling like I was in someone's converted basement. Seriously, the décor was straight out of a garage sale screaming (my husband's mid-life crisis is collecting billiards and beer memorabilia to hang on the wall). I was waiting for my friend's mom to come down the back staircase and offer us some sandwiches and soda. Around the back there were a few bar staples such as Golden Tee, Darts, and Area 51, all of which proceeded to eat my quarters. I guess if you want a no frills place to play pool, this place is ok, but for a chill place to grab a drink, I would pass. read more

Dive bar to the tee! We were walking around West Seattle not knowing where to go. I was intrigued by how this place was underground. Glad we went. As we were walking down the steps someone was coming up saying how stuffy it was. Well we walked in and yes it almost had a smoky quality to it. We go up to the bar only to be beckoned by a extremely drunk "regular" asking us to sit next to him. What an experience he made it! LOL We had a blast! They do pour pretty heavy and drinks are cheap. We didn't eat anything, so no clue how food is. We defintley will be back. read more

I was very excited to see The Corner Pocket open. It's a downstairs bar that has been recently given a face lift. There are pool tables (free pool on Sundays), darts and pin ball machines too. The service is always friendly and comes with a smile. I would not recommend the food tho. The burger was flavorless and the hummus plate left a lot to be desired. They're still getting in the groove and were very open to constructive criticism when they saw we didn't eat the food. I have no doubt the food will improve and plan on giving it another shot soon. But in the meanwhile the beer is nice and cold and the pinball games are good. It's a nice escape from the heat because it's underground. I love that. read more

My favorite place to drink, shoot pool and yell at the TV when my English Premier League team is on. They open early most weekend mornings so you can watch your team LIVE! Pool tables are top notch, bartenders are second to none, when ladies do stumble down the stairs they tend to have most of their teeth, and their door guy does a superb job keeping the d-bags and jackasses out. Cannot believe how rude people can be... My friends and I are looking to find a place to watch a couple different football games today. I have been calling around in West Seattle and came across the Corner Pocket on Yelp and saw the high rating so figured I would give them a call. This is how the conversation went: Ring Ring CP: "what the f*ck?" Me: "umm hello?" CP: "what can I do for you?" At this point I'm thinking its maybe a bar that messes with you?!... Me: "I was just wondering if you are playing the Saints game today?" CP: "ya we are playing the games, we are so busy, that's why I don't want to answer the freaking phone." Me: "so you answer and say "what the f*ck?'?" CP: "yes" Enough said. I can't believe people can get away with being that rude. Needless to say we aren't watching any game there. read more

First of all, the bartender is THE WORST. He's super slow and rude. Next comes the wannabe bouncer. All he does is stand there and flirt with cute girls. Also, I think he was secretly drinking because he was acting pretty drunk. He was tasked with asking an overly intoxicated patron to leave and he could barely manage that. The best way I could describe this place is a dive bar, only with cool people. It's got the casual atmosphere, dim lighting, and abundance of pool tables and dart boards that's so appealing about a dive bar-- but everyone there was youngish, fun and laid back. A dive bar that gets a nice dose of English football on the weekends. The staff is amazing. The bartender Tom (the older, Scottish one) is one of my favorite bartenders in Seattle, always good for an off-color joke and a stiff drink. He even made us homemade spaghetti one night. What a cool little place! It is a little hard to find but totally worth it. Pool is $8/hour and the drink prices are great! They have a great beer selection on tap and the pool tables are in really good condition. Only problem was that they didn't have the chalk for your hands, and I would think a place like this would have it. But regardless of that we will definitely be back! read more

I'll be back! Went here for a Sunday morning hangover breakfast and football. They have good breakfast and bloody marys/mimosas! It was the day after my friend's birthday so the cook put a bday candle in her breakfast and the bartender hooked her up with a really yummy cocktail (Washington apple with a twist)!! Best bar in the West hands down, well priced drinks, pool tables are fair, bartenders kick major ass. Location is perfect, everyone knows where easy Street is so it's super easy to find.
