So I'm moving out of burien in a week and doing a solo bar hop to try out a bunch of burien bars I never tried yet before I go and I started tonight with a bar I'd heard about a few times. The female bartender was super sweet, poured me 2 whiskey cokes that tasted like personal welcome home gifts and honestly, I almost wanted to make this my close out bar right then and there. The nice fella next to me, a regular named matt gave me pointers for the rest of my night, and I may find that tonight's barhop needn't any more hop. I'll be back here for sure. No pool tables but pull tabs and good people (and strong drinks) deserve more of my time. read more

I'm conflicted on how to rate a dive bar. It would stand to reason that a mediocre rating, say three stars, would be an equivalent to five stars at any other establishment that wasn't dive-y. So with that preface established, here we go. This place is a top notch dive bar, so good that it could slide right into the dreary winter time waterfront in Westport and the fisherman would pile right in just like it was opening day on the Nushagak in Bristol Bay. No hipsters, mostly locals, and plenty of cold beer, almost average bar food, and bartenders that are top notch. When you come in find the high energy Pat Benatar looking chick behind the bar who slings gin with the best of 'em, plant yourself on a vinyl bar stool, order some bar nachos, watch the game, or talk trash with your new bar friends because it's that kinda place. Great local bar filled with lots of friendly regulars and reasonable priced drinks. The same owners also own the very popular Hooverville Bar in SODO near the sport stadiums. The only downside is they don't have a real kitchen, so the food section is very limited with just basic tacos and nachos. Customers are allowed to bring in outside food. read more

An old dreary neighborhood tavern that's evolved into more of a kitschy spot. The location used to have a bad reputation of attracting the elderly, angry right wing crowd. But the new demographic is typical of the local 30-60 year old office worker set. What remains is an approachable pub catering to heavy drinkers. Pretty standard booze and beer selections. Go elsewhere if fancy cocktails, decent wine or a broad beer list is desired - Smarty Pants probably a better close by choice. Does not seem they have a Happy Hour. read more

I refuse to go back to the Hobnobber, even though it is within walking distance of my house and I actually LIKE the place. But when you spent $1 per square ($3 max), on the football card, then cover your roommate's 3 squares, and go back on Monday to find out how well you did only to discover that Jack the owner had whited out your names and resold the squares to his regulars.... sorry, but that's just disgraceful. The name alone says you have to at least stop by once. It's dark, wooden paneled walls, three pool tables, beer and wine only. They do not offer food and the bags of chips are limited at that. The stars are for the fact that any time I have been there I meet someone new, really local and interesting and feel like Norm from cheers. read more

Stopped in from time to time when Jack still owned it and always had a good time. New owners (same as Hooverville in SoDo) bought it about a year and a half ago and added cocktails. Went in on Saturday afternoon/evening to play some pull tabs and have a couple of drinks. Had so much fun we went back over on Sunday afternoon! Bartenders were sassy and fun. Wish there was a bit more food options, but they will let you have food delivered from elsewhere. Nice cozy little fireplace in the corner is perfect for these dreary winter days. Met some new fun people and will definitely be back. Best part is that it's within walking distance from my house ! If you haven't been there lately, give it a try. read more

We went to their grand "re-opening" night last night and the place looks GREAT! Just enough updates but kept the feel of the original bar. The new owners also own Hooverville in SODO and I couldn't be happier that they have put their touch on the Hobnobber Tavern. Great 60s-70s vibe in the tavern, pull tabs, new pool tables, full bar and they serve the yummy personal pizzas like at Hooverville. 6 or so varieties from meat lovers to veggies and a Greek! The tavern is also dog friendly so that is a huge plus in my book!! Definitely check out this gem in Burien. read more

Stopped here to kill a little time and shoot a little pool. Pool tables aren't great BUT there aren't very many 50 cent tables around anymore so THAT'S great. Plus the daytime bartender (the blonde with the cute butt) has AMAZING customer service. I can't believe I have not been here before. Definitely not my last time. Next time I will try the food. If Your tired of all the drama you get from most bars and lounges, then " don`t be a snob and hobnob" This is a great place to watch sporting events , get your pull tab groove on, or hobnob with the locals. I went to The Hobnobber to watch the Seahawks game and I had a great time. There were a group of regulars at the bar and two women setting up Christmas decorations when I walked in. There was a crockpot in the corner and by the time we left, we were offered and enjoyed a bowl of turkey stew, a bowl of pretzel snacks and a choc chip cookie. Very inviting place. The price of the pitchers were a bit steep but I'm happy to support a great dive bar. I will be back. read more
