I had the Reuben, it was delicious. like really good. The rye bread, the amount of meat, everything about it. Ordered dry rub wings here to-go. The employee who took my order was very nice and inside the restaurant was nicely decorated. The wings were cooked well but had NO flavor. I was so disappointed because it had so much potential. There was barely any dry rub on it and the chicken itself could be so much better if they brined their wings. It was flavorless down to the bone. It came with a jazzed up ranch which was also good but not good enough to carry the lack of flavor from the wings. The sandwich was good and I enjoyed the meat very much! The wedge, just "ok" and I think, after talking with others at the table, the reason it wasn't as good as I have had before was the dressing. While the lettuce was fresh and all the toppings were as expected, the dressing could have been thicker. I would also say quarter the tomatoes. Came in for the happy hour as needed an old fashioned cocktail. We remember it being real good and headed to Fireside. Definitely can tell that there is a vibe of regulars from how the staff reacted to regular patrons. My wife ordered an old fashioned, and I got a manhattan (both made with the same Nickel Rye). Neither drink hit the mark, and honestly, both were pretty weak. I've had dozens of each around town, and these felt way lighter on the whiskey than most places. I don't get why some spots short-pour the spirits. The better bars make them strong and let a big rock slowly open them up, but these came out already watered down--like they'd been shaken with crushed ice or something. Service and ambience were great. The drinks were great as well.. BUT: I have had plantain a lot because I really like them . One of the more common types that I've had is the Tostones style: fried and crispy with some sort of dipping sauce or salsa. I also love Peruvian ceviche with very thin fried plantain chips. My favorite kind by far are maduros style plantain, which are very ripe, very sweet.  And then fried until they are crispy just on the outside and maybe even a little greasy and generally served with with honey and sugar. All of that said, I think the ones you're serving with the mahi-mahi are prepared very differently than anything I've encountered before .They almost look like Maduros, but are dry, chalky and unpalatable. Just a suggestion that perhaps if your Chef isn't familiar with how to prepare plantains that they do a little further investigation and how these are prepared across different cultures. read more

We went here's to enjoy my last couple hrs in Seattle with a friend and games of gin before my flight back to home. The drinks are fantastic with decent price. Had some time to kill before heading to the airport so decided to get something to eat. This was actually one of the few places open at 9pm on a Tuesday in this area. Bar atmosphere. Dim ambient lighting. They had some TV's with the MLB playoffs playing. No audio though. Decent table sizes. Fit our party of 7 no problem. Service was friendly and great. They had a few beers of draft. I got the fireside IPA. It was decent. Double smash (3): Not much to this one. Couple patties with cheese. Bun was soft. That's all it was. Patties were decent, but nothing to write home about. Got a side salad with it which was decent. Oklahoma Onion Burger (4): This was better than the smash burger! The onions gave it a very nice flavor. That smash burger was simply meat and cheese. They charred this one the same way too. Skip the smash and get the oklahoma. Chicken Pot Pie (4): This was decently sized and flavorful. Crust was nice. Entire table shared this and everyone enjoyed it. Kids plain cheeseburger (4): I was amazed that my daughters burger was basically the same size as my smash burger at half the cost! Same ingredients too. I'm getting the kids burger next time. I've been here a couple of times now. It's better than average. The smashburger and tater tots are the reason I've been back more than once. The rest of the menu is okay, but nothing to write home about. It's a little on the spendy side for what it is. The rotating taps usually have something pretty decent on them. I had a strawberry stout the last time I was in. I was tastier than it had any right to be. The rotating alcoholic slushie is usually a good bet as well. I really liked the Dark And Stormy one. Service can be hit or miss, but is generally a little on the slow side. I really like the ambiance and decoration of the place, but I always like the dark wood study vibe. read more

My daughter invited us to join them for my grandson's birthday so we were a party of 6. Everything they ordered looked great and they raved about the taste, I enjoyed the meatball appetizer. I ordered Cincinnati Chili because after living there for 44 years, I had only enjoyed it a few times since moving to Seattle 11 years ago and those times, I made it myself. The flavor of the chili was right but it was a bit thick, almost like it needed to be cooked longer to become almost a fluid sauce. In Cincinnati, the underlying spaghetti is regular size and here they used very thick round noodles like you would see in Asian dishes. In Cincinnati, the dish is topped with a huge amount of shredded cheddar that looks like an afro but here the cheese was sparse and kind of flat. Spaghetti, chili and cheese is called a 3 way and if you added diced raw onions under the cheese, it is a 4 way. They added sliced green onions stems instead, which I have never seen before. In Cincinnati, where the sauce is more liquid and watery, it is always served with oyster crackers that are then mixed in to soak up the excess juice. Bottom line is the dish tasted good but was only remotely like real Cincinnati chili. Every other dish looked so good that we will definitely be back. read more

First time visit for me and two others and we fell in love. This is a Midwestern theme restaurant or bar and that has the feel of a low lit romantic supper club. We were there on super bowl Sunday and we had perfect service. The food was delicious and comforting. We tried one of the specials which was a creole shrimp dip with pita bread. We also tried the swedish meatballs which will be a must every time I visit. I had the French onion soup which was a little different for me and that it didn't have as much of a beefy broth flavor so much as possibly a red wine flavor, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I also enjoyed the beet salad where I was given the option to add protein so I went all out with steak, and I was not sorry. We also enjoyed our cocktails which consisted of bloody Mary, margarita, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they had Irish whiskey selections other than they played out Jameson. Apparently, they have Dead Rabbit, but they were out, so I went with Dubliner and really enjoyed it. The cherry on top is the beautiful fireplace and then dining room which combined with good food and good drink makes for a cozy evening. read more

Fireside is nestled on the outskirts of old burien in an unassuming building. On the inside however, its retro vibe screams 1970s and its warm lighting is quite inviting and puts one in mind of warm fireplaces. The food matches the vibe. Warm and comforting. My personal favorite is the chicken sandwich. It's perfectly crispy and juicy and the sauce really completes it. Some other shoutout entrees include the steak dinner and the wedge salad. All this food is also prepared and delivered by excellent waiters, waitresses, and cooks who are incredibly kind. Overall excellent can't miss burien experience. read more

We stopped in right after getting into town and picking up our rental, and they happily accommodated us with a hot meal and a cold beer. It's a nice space! The fireplace indoors is certainly cozy and sports a bit of an old-fashioned vibe by way of the taxidermy heads mounted on the wall above. Booths are nice and roomy and well-maintained. Offerings are straightforward but tasty. The pretzel is certainly a highlight, served with beer cheese kept hot via a little candle beneath.
