I went in for a computer Wi-Fi problem. At first I couldn't reproduce it when I got to the store. The clerk, Lucas c, was very patient and diligent. Just signing on to add my voice to the chorus of disgust with the abilities and ethics of these people. I paid $257+$50 for the installation and haul away of a new DW with Best Buy. Geek Squad showed up and claimed they couldn't install it due to a leaky supply valve, and the need for hardwiring--which they assured me can't be done in California anymore (not true). So I decided to call real installers and have it done correctly. When trying to get a refund for the $307 installation and haul away fees, I was told that they couldn't possibly refund the fee because the job wasn't finished. They said they can't tell if a job is possible until they see it, but charge you for it in advance and won't refund if they can't do it. I arrive to pick up computer and am met with an employee who did not apologize or attempt to make things better but was rude and accusatory. She said they looked at store footage and it was only waiting. 40 -45 min and not "almost an hour" seriously! Great customer service. Then said they tried to contact me three times( all after complaint was filed and not the over a week with no call and me calling to find out status. Don't bother with these guys for iPhone battery replacement. They offer Apple certified same day service but in reality they want to send your phone out for 5 day service and a loaner, lol. Called and confirmed and appointment, a time, cost and that the repair would be same day. Rep confirmed all of the above. Showed up on time only to learn that the part was out of stock. This is after confirming with them the day earlier that they could complete the repair. Again, a complete waste of time. This is exactly why big box brick and mortar retail is failing. I'll admit I bring them over due to them saving me time trying to set up my gear. They're customer service has always been good to excellent. While I haven't had them stop by the house in years, this time I was surprised to see how the changed over time. One of the big surprises was that they put on shoe slip inside to prevent the tracking in of dirt into the house. They were fast and when completed asked if I had any questions or had anything else that they had to link into the system. Very courteous and professional! read more

I can understand how some other reviewers give them low ratings but based on my one experience today, they were excellent in service and price. I had malware on my computer which shut the thing down to the blue screen of death. I sent out several other request to other computer places with high Yelp reviews before I called the Geek Squad as my impression of the Geek Squad are a bunch of temporary nerds with poor people skills but I don't know why I think that. The other 3 computer repairs places responded back quickly but all three were worried they couldn't fix it and they wanted $300 just to diagnose my computer. Geek Squad offered to fix my computer if fixable, and give me a one year service contract for all my electronic stuff like cell phones and laptops for $200. They also backed up all my pictures and data on a My Passport drive that I bought on sale. They fixed my computer by removing my corrupted Windows 10 operating system and installing a new system while moving all my files and programs onto the new system. I used Office 365 so it was free to replace my system since I have a license to use it anyway. All my malware disappeared with my old system, my files are all backed up on my new terabyte passport drive and my computer is working great again for $200 plus my $55 passport drive which I needed to buy anyway. read more

I went to the Geek Squad because my computer wasn't coming back on after it went into hibernation, in addition I thought I might have something wrong with a fan. They told me that they would have to have it about a month because they needed to send it out for repair of the fan first and then look at the software issue after that. So they had my computer a month only to call me and tell me that they could not get me a fan from HP and that the fan not working properly was the reason that my software was not working properly. This was of course after I purchased $300 protection that allowed me to get service on my said computer for the next year. They told me that my computer was 2 years old and wasn't understand warranty anymore and that HP was no longer servicing my computer and said that I should just buy a new computer to get the warranty and the service. WHAT A SERIOUS RIP OFF!!!! I went onto Amazon and got a fan that works for my computer and received it the following day, Prime. I also took it to Purl Computer in Livermore who had it 1 day, changed the fan and reloaded my Windows 10 as it was somehow corrupted. NOW, MY COMPUTER WORKS PERFECTLY!!! read more

Very bad customer service. On call customer service says go to store, store says to call customer service. When you get a replacement they have the policy that u can replace the replacement device in 30 days if it does not work properly. I was on a vacation nd phone started acting up. When we came back it was 28th day (including the days it took to ship). They asked me at store they cant to anything, keep clicking on a link which was down for 5 days. The person at the store assured me that if the link doesnt work they will honor that i came before the 30 day period. I kept trying and it dint work. I went back to the store and they said why did u come on the 28th day. If there is a problem with the phone you should have come earlier, why did you wait till 28 days. Then they shud not have a 30 day policy. We have had asurian insurance for all the phones we purchased. We had to use it once and it was a breeze to talk to them. I had GS come out to help us get a HIFI system in place a few months back. It took me a while to get over my being so freaking angry and now I'm just disgusted. GS agent arrived on the wrong day and stated that I was the one confused on the time for scheduled appointment. Ok, could be me, I'll take responsibility for this. The following day, as a favor, they would send another person out to help. Appointment set for 8 - noon. Around 4:30 he finally shows up and asks if I hate him for being late. In less than 5 minutes and trying to offer me things that I didn't want he suggested that a specialist contact me. I'm thinking that is what he was supposed to be. Two months later I was contacted by the specialist. In the end it was clear that these techs know just a little more than the average person and not much more. Apparently "ran diagnostic" and proceeded to recommend a new phone cuz my screen was bound to go and other things could also go wrong In the next six months. Buyer Beware! The Dublin Best Buy Geek Squad service is a DISASTER. I wish I had read some of the reviews before i purchased the "Black Tie" extended service plan from Best Buy for the Geek Squad. The service is absolutely HORRIBLE and the price is RIDICULOUSLY HIGH. First they gave me a description of the service plan explaining my rights that is DIFFERENT from the one they use! I have an iMac that stopped working after about a year. I brought it in for service and they sent it off site for TWO months (they don't do ANY apple computer work or diagnostics at the store). After one week of getting it back, it displayed the same issue and stopped working again. I asked for a replacement unit as it stated I am entitled to in MY paperwork that they provided me at time of purchase. They, however, referred to THEIR paperwork, which I have never seen, which stated that they could service a unit three times (for at least TWO MONTHS each time for a total of 6 MONTHS!) before they decide whether to replace it or not. I was forced to bring it back in again. They have already had it for over TWO AND A HALF months again. On top of that I just found out, after numerous calls, that it has been back in the Dublin store and available for pick up for over TWO WEEKS. At NO POINTduring that time did I receive any phone calls or emails with any information from the Geek Squad. They do not stand behind their service or plan at all. I had an AWFUL experience with getting my phone fixed at the Apple Store in Walnut Creek, so I decided to take my phone to Geek Squad at Best Buy and it was the best decision ever. Schyler, my Geek Squad tech, was so helpful. He was kind and actually took time to listen to my iPhone problem and helped me figure out how to get Apple to fix it. He actually cares about humans unlike every Apple employee I encountered. Schyler deserves a raise or promotion. The connection on my external hard drive was loose. The guy at Geek Squad said it couldn't be replaced and I'd have to pay $50 to send it out and another $300 for data recovery - $350! More than I expected so I decided to check other option. I took it to Fry's electronics and the guy said he could put the drive in a new housing - $10 for the housing, $18 for service - $28. And it was fixed in less than 30 minutes. I won't trust the geeks after that experience. read more

I had brought in my laptop about 2 weeks ago I guess I had a Windows 10 corruption( God how I miss windows 7) anyways I gotten my laptop and the guy who checked it in said that it should be ready around 4 to 5 days I'm just recently started school so I said okay it shouldn't be that big of a deal I mean come on it's only for 5 days I went back towards the end of the fourth day in to see if my computer is done I've tried to reach them by cell phone many times but I guess they don't believe in customer service over the phone. So when I finally walked up to the person thank God there was nobody else in line I asked if my computer was ready apparently nobody has even started on it and it's not 4 to 5 days it's going to be up to 9 days and as an inconvenience they gave me $50 gift card but they said that they will go ahead and put it out of line and escalated to be first to be worked on and it should be ready in 3 days I said okay exactly three days later I came back and guess what my laptop is nowhere near ready and that they will give me a call back when it's done.... it's been 2 weeks and I still have not received a phone call. And I checked online to see how the progress is going it's still saying that it has been checked in I gave them A 3 only because becuz of the 50 dollar gift card and even tho they don't believe in picking up the phone customer service is pretty good only when you're there in person read more

Phil and Sam were on time, professional, polite, friendly, explained everything to me, and stopped a few times to give me options on the job. (They came to install my TV). I bought the Geek Squad 5 year protection plan for my Samsung television in early 2015 and was feeling very smug when the television stopped working yesterday. So I contacted GS and it scheduled an appointment for today between 8 and noon. Then this morning I saw an email from "Precision Television" saying that it was happy I had chosen it for my repair but not to count on any appointment made by the GS. So, eventually I determined that (1) GS does not do repairs itself but subcontracts to independent firms, (2) GS cannot schedule any appointments -- all are subject to the subcontracted firm, (3) at this point, no one at GS or Precision Television can tell me when I might have a repair appointment, but it seems that it will be weeks away, and (4) if you protest to Amanda at GS she will hang up on you. Don't waste your money on warranties that are not honored. read more

I'm very happy with the work he did, and enjoy my new sound system- it works better than expected!! They even helped me set up the Bluetooth and explained the new system. Wow what a complete waste of my time. This is the first time I wish I could rate a business with a negative. I had an 11:30am appointment today and brought my 42 inch TV in. They informed me they could either do a home repair the cost for the visit is $100.00 or they "might" be able to ship it out with a $35.00 deposit but the female clerk was not sure. So I say ok, since the TV is here can you ship it out? The clerk says I don't know but if we do it'll take 4-6 weeks. I said ok I am open to that...she said we'll you can leave it here with the deposit and we can let you know. WTH? So they can come to my house for $100.00 and do the repair there or give me an estimate but they can't fix it at the place of business...? I am at a loss. I have a few suggestions: 1) Train staff so they know if you can ship out an item for repair or not. How hard is that to give a yes or no answer...? 2) Better yet, do repairs on sight for TV's that can be carried in by one person. 3) Add a few questions to the on-line appointment process or add more info. informing people of your policies so other people like myself don't waste time. Honestly if I had known up front my only option was a house call for $100.00 I would have made that appointment. Now I will make it with another business since you have lost mine. read more

The young man with the ponytail helping me was: patient, kind, listened t o me explain what was going on (from someone who really doesn't know computer language) &... he fixed the problem!! Scheduled a formal appointment on the Apple website to get my iPhone screen repaired with the schedule time wasted my whole afternoon moving things around show up and the person at the geek squad desk tells me they're not set up to Repair iPhone screens. That in fact they haven't been doing it for two weeks and don't know when they will restart. Got a love technology I question the manager and asked why they can't tell Apple that they are not set up so it can be taken off their site. And I also said since you knew I was scheduled you couldn't give me a courtesy of a call to warn me that they don't do screen repair here. Technicians that came did not finish assigned jobs, gave us wrong information and once they left...nothing worked the next day. Called and got the run around and absolutely NO help. The GEEK squad annual fee was charged to the wrong account. This was important as I am unemployed and every $$ counts. I called the 800 number and the Representative Jacob said yes he could change the account to charge today and use the card I gave him. Now 5 days later the charge has not been credited on the wrong account. I have a confirm number as well. Called today and was told that the new CC number is on file, but the rep did not credit my account. He could not do that.. but that is not what he told me. Ok. But as a training opportunity - the manager does not take customer calls, and the manager does not have a manager. WHAT? So then I cancelled my Geek Squad membership but they could not CR the account it was charged on.. but the new CC on file. That does not make sense. Me having a CR on a CC does me no good. This will have be seen. I cannot believe what the reps say. CANCELLED. Watch out for what they tell you, perhaps if English was the 1st language they would be able to answer questions TRUTHFULLY instead of anything to get the customer off the phone. I am a little confused by the other reviews here but my experience was excellent! I made an appointment on line and showed up a little early. The staff went up and down the line saying we will be right with you, soft spoken very friendly. I showed my laptop with the cracked screen thinking I am going to have to replace the screen and it going to cost $$$$$. The staff person told me three options; all relating to turn around time and cost. At the end he said .. or I can disable the touchscreen and it will be fine. You could get a new computer later if you wanted but it will work fine. I said yes to disable. He did it in 3 minutes and said ok have a nice day. I said but what do I owe you? He smiled and said nothing, .. that was no a big deal. I smiled said thank you and left a very happy customer. It's a rare thing nowadays to receive excellent customer service without having to pay something. Well done Geek Squad - I am a fan! read more

I purchased a Apple watch online with a in store pick up and it came with a free Geek Squad set up. I showed up this morning around 10:15 am picked up the watch, the checker gave me this paper card to hand to the Geek Squad. Got over there and the guy didnt know what he was looking at and then his first words were " i have a 1045am appointment" oh and " that screen protector is not included, have to pay extra for that. I never asked him to put the screen protector on. He was so uninterested and then said he would be right back and walked away. I will never do business with this Best Buy again nor the Geek Squad ever. I ended up taking my watch and walking out. Very unprofessional here and very rude. If i could give no stars i would! Pay in advance?! Are you kidding me?I set up an appointment for the Geek. They told me that in order to "hold" the appointment I had to pay in full for the service. I said I didn't feel comfortable with this and I'd like to talk to a manager. The tech on the phone HUNG UP on me. The people in the store then tried to salvage this and finish out the appointment. They said they'd put it in pay at time of service. After checking on the appointment the customer service rep is once again telling me that if it's not paid for in advance the appointment time will not be kept. I asked to speak to a manager and they stalled and stalled and put me on hold. This place is a joke. Serious idiots here.. Took my computer in (waited 40 min until I got to talk to someone). It wasn't turning on and I had no idea why.. I brought in my charging adapter along with the computer and the "geek" proceeded to grab my computer , plug in the charger and press the power button (I told him it wouldn't turn on) he closed the computer and said he'd recommend getting a new one and that that one was "toast". I'm on vacation and my company software would have to be loaded on a new computer for me to do any work and that cannot happen so I told him I'd pay anything to have this one fixed. He said to just get a new one - it'd be cheaper than fixing this one. Since he was clearly not helping I asked for a referral for someone who could actually look at the computer. He said QES computers. Went there and it was just the power switch.. Cost $120 to get it fixed. QES called me within 30 min with the issue and the part was ordered. This "Geek" told me it would be over 1K to fix it -- he must have gotten that accurate quote from plugging in the charger. Save your time,, go to QES where they actually know what they are doing. read more

The employees are friendly, however, the service is very slow and inconvenient. They performed a diagnostic, and found I had a faulty hard drive. They had only very basic options for a hard drive, so I had to order and drop off a hard drive myself. During installation they noticed that I needed a different bracket size, so I had to buy a bracket from a 3rd party, then drop that off, and wait days more for my computer. Nearly any other computer repair service would be able to get the parts for you and install them. It should not take a week to put in a new hard drive... read more

I was dealing with Nolan Green and Nelson. They came to repair our washing machine and didn't show up with the right part and blamed it on the office staff taking the call. I specified at the time of appt what the problem was and made sure they had the right pump to replace giving them model and serial number and still it was not done. It wasted both my husband and my time off from work to be home and take care of this problem. Then the apt was reschedule for Saturday and the guys came back to fix the machine but forgot to put the vent on for the dryer which was stacked on top and they had to bring it down to install a pump. We noticed this and called them and Nelson who answered the phone at 3:30pm said he would get Nolan to come over to our place and he willl call us but he didn't. I also called Geek Squad and they said the same thing and no one showed up. We called again at 4pm and they were just giving us a run around and finally said there is nothing that they could do since it was 5pm and they would send someone on Monday. I have 2 little kids. I had clothes in the washer and I really didn't have time to wait around and be given this run around. I asked for them to refund my service fee which they took upfront and didn't want to give that back to us. I would never recommend Geek Squad Service to anyone. read more
