My LG Gram 14 computer was in an endless loop of trying, unsuccessfully, to undo changes made during a very long "update", possibly caused by a forced shutdown. Paul was able to get it into troubleshooting mode and move all of my data files to their server while he diagnosed the problem which was a severely fragmented operating system (Windows 11). He called within an hour to give me the status and offer solutions, with prices. I opted for a complete package of a new OS and transfer back of all my files, re-installation of MS Office, Google, Chrome, Adobe Reader and MS Security Essentials. This was done by the next day and, when I had some problems getting my computer back to its previous state, he connected remotely and fixed everything. I had a catastrophic computer failure last week on my work machine and had no idea how to get it fixed. I went to Web Dispatch because they were just a few blocks from my office and at first I was not hopeful. The problem ended up requiring a re-installation of the operating system, which was diagnosed and completed over the course of a few days. It wasn't cheap, but when I realized I was missing some critical data files on the restored machine I called up and they were able to extract those files from the backup they kept. It saved me a LOT of time and money to have that service as part of the restoration, and for that reason alone it was well worth the cost of using Web Dispatch. read more

Also, they don't even know what questions to ask prior to your appointment. They gave me information over the phone, based on me having a PC (although I never said I did). I first became aware of Web Dispatch last year when I spotted their vehicles parked in front of their building, adjacent to a gymnasium where I worked out. The computer mechanic that I had been using at the time had recently shut down, and I did have some computer work that needed doing, so the following day I gave them a call. They answered the telephone on the first ring, asked to know the difficulty I'd been having, and we set up a housecall in less than ten minutes. On the appointed day, the technician was five minutes early! Although my computer office was quite messy, he made no remarks about it, opened up my computer, and diagnosed the problem in minutes. As I watched him work, it was easy to see that he was both knowledgeable and that he liked his work. But more than that, the technician was like a miner who knew exactly where the mother-lode was located and how to quickly deliver the gold. In less than 20 minutes, the work was done. I was so pleased, I decided to give him another job, and I produced an old computer and asked if he could transfer the data from it to the other computer's hard-drive. He said this could be done, but the transfer time would add up my bill and that it would be more practical for the work to be done at their headquarters, and that I could pick it up in two days' time. He was helping me save money! What more could you ask for? So, when a piece of old software on my computer started giving me problems two weeks ago--and resisted being uninstalled--I gave Web Dispatch a call. They performed their excellent work again! I cannot recommend this company highly enough! They are terrific! read more

Background: I don't know much about computers, but in the interest of supporting a local business, I wanted to try going here vs. Apple first, thinking I could get what I needed fixed done here based on reviews of other Mac users. So I called to see about dropping off my non-functional Mac Book Pro a few weeks ago. The man I spoke to was pleasant, explaining the issue would be need to be investigated, but was likely an issue they could do in-house, that they do service Macs. I was made to think I'd drop off my computer, get a call with diagnostics, and have it back in the next two business days. The same day, a Wednesday, I came by to drop off my laptop, and the receptionist who greeted me wasn't particularly friendly or descriptive about the terms of service - how long things would take, timeframe of when I'd get a phone call about the diagnostic issue, etc. - and she was eating at the front desk, which I think is just unprofessional, not to mention unwelcoming. Three days pass without a word on what the problem is, what the plan is to fix my computer, etc. I call them Monday to find out what the issue is and another pleasant man answered my phone call. He said he was one of the tech people, but wasn't on my case. He said he assumed it was an issue requiring a new system or other likely, and it would be around $400 to fix. He also assured me that the engineer who was working on it would call me to confirm, and then they'd go ahead and repair if if that was indeed the issue, which sounded agreeable to me. Do I wish they had called me instead of me calling them three days later, wondering what the problem was? Yes. That may have been an expectation of mine, but like I said, the first person I spoke to initially made me think that they would be calling me and having it done in two business days, so I don't think that was unreasonable. The tech engineer on my case calls me a few hours later, explaining it's a Mac hardware issue, which is a service that they don't offer - I'd have to go to Apple to have them look at their own product. You could imagine my annoyance in having to pay the $49 diagnostic fee - which is applied to service if they can fix it - to be told my issue was non-serviceable. I was made to think the issue could be handled there, which was why I chose to go there instead of Apple. On top of that, the service I did get wasn't consistent with follow-up. I'm only giving this two stars because the male employees I spoke to were pleasant to me, but I will not be returning. If you have a Mac, just suck it up and make an appointment at the Genius Bar. For the record, the issue I had only cost $59 to fix, and not the $400 that was speculated. read more

Luckily I called John at WebDispatch in San Ramon, he was very pleasant and to the point. He was upfront with pricing and with my options, and he was able to turn my laptop around the next day and transfer all my files to an external hard drive. The price was extremely reasonable, and John even gave me advice on finding a good value in a replacement laptop. I called with a computer problem this morning. Yes, I'm a tech "dinosaur" it's true. I learned ALOT about the lack of "bedside" manner from this place. It's hard enough not knowing as much as I should about computers but to feel intimidated is NOT my idea of seeking worthy service. As San Ramon is limited in service tech. businesses? I went out of my comfort zone with a company called FAST TEK from Castro Valley. WOW. From inception of call to visit? Very serviceable; very kind; very thorough and very reasonable charge. I have to thank WEB DISPATCH for disenchanting me so much, to the point of calling a competitor. I'd would have LIKED to given the business to a local person but I'll be darned if I'm going to be put off when I even CALL for service and help. These guys are great for a MAC! I have had them make home visits for my internet concerns as well as backing up my data but the biggest job was a doozy! I had floppy drives with files from software that isn't even used anymore. They had to locate the software, load the software on my laptop, translate it to Word (so I could read it) and then transfer to a jump drive! I'm not sure if that was the order in which they did it but all I know is that over 30 floppies were translated, transferred, I can read it and I got my laptop back in a few days and they didn't break me! I have had several positive experiences with Web Dispatch, but this last one was so great I finally got over here to Yelp to give this company the great review they deserve. I had an old Mac (8 years old) and needed to move over to my new one. There were some significant legacy problems (such as an old version of QuickBooks that wasn't readily transferable to the new operating system). Charles came out to my house (properly masked, etc.), set up the initial conversion process, then returned the next day to complete and test that all went well. I am so impressed with Charles' skill, logic and calmness. This was a stressful situation for me (as computer crises often are!) and he just facilitated the whole process with ease. Additionally, the fee for services is always reasonable. Charles demonstrates high integrity and honesty--and as other reviewers have mentioned--definitely alert to offer whatever is the most cost-effective solution for the customer. These guys really missed it for me.. Wife took in our high end HP laptop. Charged me $49 to tell me bad hard drive. Was going to be $378 with data transfer. I got home realized it was still under warranty and called HP. Over the phone they guided me through a "recovery" after we Laplinked the data off, and it works fine - for free. All of my questions and concerns were addressed and I felt like I was really listened to. Charles and Robert are two of the best techs I have ever worked with. They really got me out of a bad spot with my computer.

My poor notebook died on me and I had no idea what the problem was. Imagine the scene from Sex and the City when Carrie's laptop crashes. Yup, that was me. Reluctantly, I looked up some computer repair shops in the tri-valley area and called Web Dispatch. The tech guru on the phone was super helpful and suggested I bring my notebook in so he could run a diagnostic and give me a quote. I asked him if it was ok if I wouldn't be there until 4:30pm although they close at 5pm. He said that was fine and if he needed to, he'd stay past their closing time. When I arrived, the receptionist was friendly and mr. tech guru remembered me from having called earlier. He quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me his honest advice. Basically, the motherboard was fried (which is what I had suspected but needed a professional confirmation). Mr. Tech guru told me it wasn't going to be worth the cost to fix it when I could just buy a brand new notebook. I'm happy that they didn't try to sell me something or push me into getting it fixed when it's not the best option. Although I didn't actually have to pay for any of the services at WD, I'm still impressed with the service that I received there. I'd definitely recommend them for computer repairs and would return there in the future if I was in the area and needed some tech help. I'm confident that they are totally legit! read more

My daughter's MacBook Air had a problem with the power plug on the computer. I went to Apple and had to wait in two lines for over 39 minutes only to be told I'd have to come back in six hours just to get an appointment for someone to look at it!
