On Sunday, June 22, 2025, my wife's 2018 HP Pavilion laptop decided it was time to die. At first, we thought it might need a new power cord and ordered one on Amazon. When we got the new power cord and it didn't work either, we quickly realized we needed help getting the files off the hard drive of the dead laptop. We hadn't had a chance to backup the files before it died. We put out a project request on Yelp and started looking for companies that could help us We found Fastball Computers and Scott Nelson. Scott responded to our phone call and project request and was able to see us the next day at his shop. We took our laptop and got to watch Scott take out the hard drive and connect it to his computer and then transfer our files to our external hard drive. Scott knows his stuff and explains things so you understand what he is doing. His price was incredibly reasonable for the work he did. We have new laptop for my wife and all her files and pictures and are able to move forward. If you need data recovery services or other computer services, don't hesitate to call Scott. I called Scott and a few other places. I made an appointment with him before I heard back from the other. Spent 20 minutes on my laptop when I asked him to stop. Didn't feel that he had the resources at his place to fully diagnose my laptop issues, and I felt like I was paying him to open 3 different boxes of SSD readers, one of which he said was for a Mac (I have a Windows). He even talked me out of having him come to my home, believing that my company issued laptop may have had security issues preventing me to have output to monitors via HDMI. I called him back out of desperation on a Friday afternoon (after business hours). I had an issue with not being able to get my email, either locally on my computer or on the internet and my iphone. I was panicking a I could not figure out how to re-activate it! Scott helped me upgrade my old Dell to a newer model. This would have been very straight forward but I noticed something strange in that there were a bunch of email bounce backs for Undeliverable email addresses. These were all .ru email addresses so it seems that some hacker was using my machine so send out Spam emails. How embarrassing is that? Based on what Scott found in my Sent folder the hacker must have just started because there were 'only 10K to 15K ' emails that had been sent. Scott worked with Go Daddy to get control back over the computer. Scott never got flustered or confused. He knew exactly what to do and got it done. I highly recommend Scott. I can see why Scott's service warrants all of his five star ratings! My computer stopped working suddenly... No power and would not charge. Since it's under warranty through Costco, my main concern was getting all of my personal photos, documents and files off of it before sending it in for repair or replacement. I took it to Scott's home and he spent about 15 minutes with me, troubleshooting and discussing what he could do, and I left my computer and external hard drive with him, expecting to hear back from him a couple of days later. He ended up texting me that very same night, telling me that it was all ready for pick up and that he was able to transfer all of my files onto my external hard drive. I left Scott a VM last Thursday (7-18-13) in regards to a non working PC. He called me back within the hour and told me that he'd be happy to take a look at it/fix it. Last week my trusty Dell lap top computer on a reboot said i was now missing some file i never heard of and that the computer would not run at all until i reinstalled this strange missing file...was i hacked, did i have malware..i could not figure it out...so, i went on my wifes computer and googled for a computer repair service in my town of Danville...up pops FASTBALL COMPUTER..picked up the phone and called for an appointment...Scott who answered said he was leaving on a mini vacation that day but could i come right away..i did and what a suprise! I would highly recommend working with Scott at Fastball Computer. I had a minor disaster with my MacBook when the keyboard was doused with a full cup of tea. It was completely disabled so I couldn't access my e-mail, documents or hundreds of family photos. When I went to Apple they basically told me they couldn't do anything about it and that I'd need to buy a new computer or spend up to $1,000 to repair my computer or to simply retrieve the data. When I called Scott he was great. He immediately gave me advice on how I might be able to resuscitate the computer on my own (i.e. bury it in a bag of rice to dry it out) and then called me back and offered up an appointment if that didn't work. He was super helpful and his advice allowed me to get my Mac working again, retrieve all my data and save a ton of time and money....AND his cost estimate on the fix was a fraction of what Apple had indicated if I had ultimately needed that.
