He assured me that if he couldn't retrieve it, we still had other options. Phew! I am so thankful that my data was found! I had a couple of snags with retrieving my data when I brought my equipment home but Chase was still available to help me make sure I could retrieve and save them safely. Can't say I loved my experience. My usual place closed down so I ended up here, and the price was about 30% higher for labor. Perhaps that's because they considered my battery issue a "level 2." I knew more than the tech. They didn't believe me when I told them my theory of what was the cause. 2 days of testing later, turns out I was right. I appreciate that they informed me of other issues during the diagnostic, but they also couldn't answer the random shutdown issue I had; they had never heard of such things and didn't bother trying to figure it out because the diagnostics didn't pick up an issue with it. So I didn't get the impression that they knew all about computers. Can they fix something that has a clear solution? Yes. Can they get creative and run experiments if they don't know for sure? Doubt it. Pro is they're very responsive. They work fairly fast considering they claim to be backlogged. Called last week and explained my laptop situation to I believe her name is Ingrid. She asked what type of laptop I have, told her a Sony Vaio and her response was, your Sony is very old and better to get a new one! I love my Sony Vaio, then explained to her that already replaced HDD to SSD drive and also upgraded memory as well and have had no problem till the screen went all white! Took my laptop to the shop and paid $75 as per to fix the issue. When she was plugging in my PC to a monitor to test it a couple of ladies came in, so told her to go ahead and tend to them first before me and told her will be back later. Returned couple of hors later to find the shop closed? Went back home then called the store number, a male person answered and said, Ingrid went home not feeling well and he told me that he will be taking care of my PC screen. Went in the next day and he told me another $25 to already paid $75 will be the complete screen changing job for a total of $100 at which it seemed to me very reasonable. I already ordered a compatible screen from eBay and brought the part in. The male repair person was not there but Ingrid. I said let open the box to make sure the screen is damage free then suddenly she said, oh you suppose to have the complete cover with the screen, so to replace the screen is $200! What a deceitful business practice this Danville computer does to an old men like me! Took my PC back and got the hell out of that place! I took my newer MacBook Pro Touchbar here because I had spilled a water bottle on it. Everyone I called offered me to replace my logic board and said I would lose my data. Danville Computer Repair said they could attempt to repair my logic board and keep my data. If they weren't successful, it would be a small diagnostic fee. Brought my old MacBook Pro in for a broken key and was quoted over $150 to "replace the entire keyboard as the only repair option.option. Since the computer was old i didn't want to invest that much to repair. I spent a day with no success with Microsoft trying to connect. This is not the only computer in this house and they sent me stuff that did not work.
