Noodles with pork sauce
Toru T.

These noodles were pretty good, sauce was amazing. It has a really nice flavour. The noodles were perfectly bouncy and had a nice chew, they didn't tear easily which was nice! My only complaint is I wish the pork were more fresh? Not as dry as that, it was the only downside to the meal. I don't know if the meat is frozen, but it felt like I was eating tough beef instead of pork. Everything else was great though!

Noticed GB was still open on a jog, looked them up online and saw they had a vegetarian noodle option, so I decided to show them some love while out doing errands. Usually I'm iffy on noodle soup takeout, but GB on Gerrard packs it thoughtfully. I orderes the vegetable noodles and got noodle and veggies in one container with soup and hot sauce packed separately, making it easy to carry and reassemble at home. I alwo ordered their seaweed app and their 8-treasure tea and both were tasty sides I'd happily get again. Seaweed is one od my favourite things to eat, and i just love how GB flavours theirs. If im not mistaken, it's got garlic, cilantro and sesame seeds, all blended in perfect harmony---very satisfying. The 8-treasure tea was a bit more of a wild card for me, and it turned out to be a standout. Keep in mind this couls be because I don't usually order this, but it's got chrysanthemum, apricots and a red date, and it tasted, subtle, complex and refreshing all at the same time. As for the noodles, i opted for thick and they were so satisfying, chewy and substantial, just what i was craving. By the way i think there are seven styles of noodles to choose from---this seems like a luxury to me and I'll definitely try and work my way through all of them at some point. In terms of the toppings, i found it to be very generous, i got a tea egg, immaculately julienned carrots, slices of daikon, lightly seasoned bok choy and green onions. FYI if you don't love green onions, staff did ask me first if i was ok with it, so you could probably exclude it from your order. Overall I really loved the takeout, it hit the spot and because it was so tasty, it's probably also planted the seed for future cravings!

Tomato and egg soup

Bring a blanket because it is freezing cold in this restaurant ! And be patient because it takes some time to get your order, and not everyone will receive their food at the same time! And why do they give only one menu when you're two people?!!! The dumplings were good but not very hot. The soup and noodles were good.

I really was glad I finally got to try GB HPN lol short forms! I brought my two babies in a double stroller squeeze through the door and got great service ordered myself a spicy soup and I got my kids a chow mein both were very flavourful and the iced mango juice was great for the kids. The soup is different from photo or anything like that because it has a clove kind of spice to it it's very nice but definitely noticeable. I can't wait to reheat the leftovers. Possibly the biggest thrill was seeing the cool in the kitchen whack Huge pieces of dough onto the counter to make the noodles ha. It was fun to show my toddler. Definitely felt like a Spadina vibe. Fun times.

We tried this new local restaurant after coming across it while walking through the neighbourhood. The menu isn't that big so if you don't feel like beef noodle soup then this place isn't for you. The soup tasted great as well as the noodles. You get to choose the thickness of the noodles you want. I requested the thick-thin noodles. There was the chef at the back of the restaurant making some fresh noodles while we ate. No packaged noodles at this place. I'll have to come back one weekend to try the beef tendon noodle soup. It's only available on the weekend.....

GB Hand Pulled Noodles is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in a variety of hand pulled noodles hence the name of the restaurant. They recently opened a second location in Toronto on Gerrard St E in the Leslieville area. I went on a recent Saturday night and I was quickly seated. The restaurant wasn't too busy like the Edward St location near the Eaton Centre. I ordered their most popular type of noodle soup which was a large lanzhou beef noodle soup with narrow thick noodles ($11.99 plus tax). The noodles had a good texture and a good consistent chew throughout, it wasn't really as silky as they advertised. I tried a place recently in Chinatown in Flushing Meadows New York that made hand pulled noodles and it was really really good. The soup/broth was flavourful and they spice it according to your preference (essentially they are just adding chili oil to the soup for you). The beef was just an average cut but was tender. The portions were pretty reasonable. Overall, a pretty good bowl of hand pulled noodles but nothing spectacular. The best thing about their recently opened second location is you can make reservations at this location. The spacing between tables is a lot more comfortable at this location than their Edward St location near Eaton Centre. At the Edward St location, tables are so close together, you feel like you are sitting shoulder to shoulder to the next table, no room to move, it's very uncomfortable. Also, there is ample free residential parking nearby or you could park at the nearby Gerrard Square Mall and walk over. There is no free parking near the Eaton Centre location. GB Hand Pulled Noodles is a good place to have Chinese hand pulled noodles at a reasonable price. The service is pretty good, the place is clean and the decor is modern. It's a pretty good addition to the Leslieville area.

I like this location way better than their Edward street location. You are not sitting shoulder to shoulder and it doesn't feel like Asian hot steam. I ordered the mega bowl. The waitress giggled. It was all good. I ended up preferring my husband's dry noodles a bit more though because I found the broth slightly lacking in depth. But the noodles in both were just great - probably still my favourite hand pulled noodles in the city for the price. Loved sitting by the window, and Leslieville is just a great neighbourhood. Easy to walk to, street car or find street parking.

Fresh and tasty noodles. Service could be better but at least the food and prices are good.

GB Hand Pulled Noodles replaced the short-lived Golden Noodle Bar. I decided to give them a try since the downtown location has pretty good reviews. They didn't change much to the interior of the restaurant from Golden Noodle Bar since it was just recently renovated. The waiters are nice and quick and the food arrived pretty quickly as well. I came on a cold Friday afternoon for lunch so it was pretty busy. We ordered the beef braised soup with thin noodles and the special lanzhou soup with thick noodles. I also ordered spicy cucumbers on the side expecting it to be somewhat like the Korean style cucumber since they had kimchi on the menu but it tasted just like regular cucumbers drenched in chilli oil. The noodles were nice and Al dente and the beef and soup had a good taste but it wasn't the best Noodle soup I had in my life. It's a good spot to try out and their portions are pretty large. One thing that bothered me is I couldn't finish half of my noodles and soup so I decided to pack it home. They only provided me with one container and if any noodle soup eater knows is that the noodles will suck up all the soup if you leave it in one container. I asked for a separate container just for the soup but they didn't have any. I don't know how take out is going to work with that.

Shredded potato with chili oil

A welcome addition to the neighbourhood! Conveniently located down the street from Toronto's "east Chinatown" on Gerrard. From what I recall, the menu is very similar to the original Chinatown location's. The restaurant size is comparable to the other as well, with maybe a few more seats (including booths). We were greeted immediately upon arrival, and our server was a very well-mannered and hardworking young man who spoke Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. Ambiance was made slightly awkward with the arrival of a contractor to inspect the booth construction mid meal, and a disjointed music playlist that jumped from operatic to pop to vintage Chinese tunes. Food quality was as expected, solid but not outstanding. Pricing is standard to slightly expensive for this type of cuisine, running around $12 per bowl. Portions are generous though. Only a handful of menu options are offered, but each option is customized by choice of noodles from several hand-pulled varieties. - Shredded potato with chili oil: Thinly sliced, flavourful, but not too spicy. Dressed up with slices of green and red pepper. Average, but I would order again. - Beef tendon noodle soup: Only available Friday through Sunday. Light broth, not too salty or chock full of MSG. Very nicely complemented by thin noodles. - Tomato, egg, minced pork dry noodles: Really hit the spot for my egg & tomato craving. Sweet but not too sweet. Served with sliced cucumbers. Went well with the thinnest flat noodles. Debit machines are available. Not sure if credit cards are accepted, we paid cash. The cashier, perhaps inexperienced, gave us change in bills which made it difficult to tip the proper amount.

Charlie Ingalls suggested this new place that served noodles saw had a good reviews I said to him don't believe what you see or hear. I told him not that great but didn't believe me. Anyway we went & tried it ordered the beef noodles ask the waitress is it enough noodles she said yes won't be able to eat it all said ok when noodles came looked at it when I looked at it again was all gone wasn't enough noodles but for Charlie Ingalls he said it's about the quality of the food. Told him if you want quality eat @ home won't be coming here anytime soon .

Pretty decent noodles. I like the beef with soup and I enjoy the wide flat noodles the most but there are other choices

Chopfire - Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95)

Chopfire

Chinatown, Downtown Core

I've been craving Szechuan-style whole grilled fish for the longest time, so I was really happy…read morewhen I stumbled across this spot while walking on Spadina. The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

The noodles were perfectly textured, crunchy, and bouncy. The soup was made according to HK standards - the proper way with dried shrimp flavor. It was rich and strongly flavored that way. According to the HK expert, mom, that is the proper and legit way. 100% approved. The price is right on point for a quick, simple meal. The waitress was straightforward, and the tea is not an extra charge. Just be careful as the tea is super, super hot. The noodle shop is my cup of tea as I'm familiar with places like this. I love it. It is the Chinatown feel. Lots of older folk eating there and not in a rush. They're reading the newspaper or chatting away. From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink.
