Luckily my friend and I were both sold on the same pizza, so we split a small Detroit-style Spotted Pig with an order of breadsticks and it was just the right amount for us. (Could I have eaten another slice? Absolutely. But should I? No. Bring a friend.) Everything about the pizza was perfectly crafted, I don't have any complaints. (Maybe that the ricotta being loaded on the top meant I needed to clean my mustache with every bite, but that's a me problem.) The mix of flavors was perfect, and said ricotta was like icing on the cake. So good. I'm updating because management did take the time to reach out in regard to our first order being substandard, which if nothing else shows a commendable commitment to service. We have since gone back twice. We found their thicker Detroit style pizzas seem to get a little more attention than their pub versions. The Detroit style pies are a nice contrast to run of the mill pizzas in taste and quality, and we'll continue to pick one up occasionally. The website tells you exactly how many people each pizza feeds, the size, and all the ingredients included. Normally I don't write reviews after the first visit to a restaurant but I had to write to say the pizza here is PHENOMENAL. We ordered the small Bacon and Basil for two adults and two toddlers. It was exactly enough for all of us and the price was very, very reasonable. Presentation of the pizza itself.... A+. It almost looked like a confection. Why not five stars? Well I'm a real stickler for cleanliness and the bathroom here was DISGUSTING. When you have a toddler cleanliness is even more important for so many reasons. I won't give details but it was clear the toilet had not been clean in a good long while or at least not a cleaning of all surfaces. Really put a damper on my 'good food mood'. Second reason for knocking off a star.... very little indoor seating that isn't up a stair case. Plenty of outdoor seating, which is nice but it was 95 degrees outside on the day we visited. And do pizza and hot weather go.... together? Not for me. We snagged the only street level table in the air conditioning, thank goodness!! The crust is buttery, salty and crunchy and super delicious. I chose a build your own and got sausage and basil as my topping. It was so flavorful and balanced well with the thicker crust. The restaurant has some seating upstairs and outside and fun decor too. I took mine to go, but there was plenty of seating if I had wanted to eat in. I was so excited to try futuro. Everyone at the counter was super nice. Fun options for pre built pizzas. Breadsticks were amazing. Love how huge they are, how fluffy, and the seasonings on them. Perfect flavor and texture. I typically prefer a thicker crust and love how beautiful the Detroit pizzas look on instagram, but I felt the pizza was overall dry. Good flavors on the toppings though- the mushrooms and the meat tasted fresh and flavorful, but it left a very dry mouthfeel. The group agreed- it was just okay. The chicken limo pizza really shined. The crust was a perfect texture and the cheese was so rich and flavorful. The buffalo sauce provided a good spice to add to the richness of the cheese and savory chicken. Wish I knew this before I went- there is no water fountain to fill up a cup. Must bring your own drinks or purchase drinks. They only have bottled water. For $34.88 for a pizza and the POS system asking for a 30% tip, I felt water wasn't too much to ask. I didn't realize it was as "counter serve" as it is, almost like a food truck in a building. The decorations were cute and retro (ie- E.T./ He-Man movie posters and a N.W.A. group picture). The inside of the restaurant was a lot larger than I originally thought when I entered. I was informed by the employee behind the counter that there was an upstairs eating area. The upstairs had tons more space and was nice and clean. The service was okay. The construction and consistency of the pizza was nice, and I felt full after eating half of the pizza (3 pcs). Well deserved We've had many lovely carryout experiences from here. Our favorites are the crowd-pleasing Spotted Pig pizza topped with smoked bacon, jalapenos, Goat cheese, ricotta, hot honey. We also like to order the vegan breadsticks (a nice option since our son can't have dairy). They're best known for their Detroit style pizza - we're talking real thick pizza. To give you an idea, I typically only knock out one to two pieces. It can be a little tricky to figure out the right amount since they're so much more dense than your "average" thinner pizza. Future offers online ordering and their space offers a handful of tables both upstairs and downstairs. Note that you need to order at the counter - no table service. I couldn't glean any story of how this place came about, in a two-story building that looks like it used to be a garage next to an abandoned diner; it seem more retro than futuro, but that's fine by me as long as the pizza is good. And it was great. They offer a couple of styles; Indianapolis does not seem to have a distinctive pizza culture but it has been colonized by the big Chicago chains and has some Detroit-style as well, and the Detroit on offer here was top-tier. Their veggie special has a lot going on, and honestly I wouldn't order that topping combo on a Neapolitan pizza as I think it would ruin the flavor, but with Detroit-style, the carmelized cheese on the outside hits your taste buds first, and anything else is just a compliment to that. Where Detroit-style can go wrong is in having too thick and bready of a crust (not the case here, as theirs was relatively light and easy to eat) or skimping on the sauce (but theirs here was ample and robustly tangy). I had no trouble wolfing that thing down. They have a counter ordering business model where they text you when your order is ready, so I walked around the neighborhood a bit. You can eat there, and most of the seating is upstairs. More accurately, most of the tables were upstairs but there was an odd dearth of chairs with not nearly enough to go around, but a bar overlooking the neighborhood was available. Outdoor seating was also present for the warmer months. I would definitely recommend someone looking to expand their pizza horizons to give this one a shot. read more
