Decided that I wasn't cooking tonight and running only on four hours of sleep, I knew I'd pass by on my way home so I knew what I needed to do. Took me a few minutes to decide what to order. So many great choices! I ordered the futuro classic and added banana peppers but got the 16 inch tavern style...I'll get Detroit style another time. Jessica was so awesome and her energy is amazing! The ordering an execution process needs to be improved. Our plan was to go to a show, then pick up a pizza on the way home from Futuro. The issue is that you cannot select a time for pick up. So after the show, I hit order on the app. And the 25-30 minute wait I had seen multiple times before the show suddenly became 50 minutes. So we went home first then I went back out to retrieve the pizza at the appointed time. When I arrived it wasn't ready because they botched the order and started anew. The mistake was they made it with banana peppers instead of bell peppers. Honestly, I would not have cared if banana peppers were used. They should have called or texted, apologized for the error and just asked if we wanted a new one or if the banana peppers were fine. But instead I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to make a new pizza. By the time I got home it was an hour after we had planned to eat. I'll know better next time we want pizza and order from a place that has better service. read more

Wow after a bite of this pizza it certainly lives up to its ratings! I ordered just how it is advertised but I did see many who cut back on the bacon and jalapeños. It was perfect honey and the jalapeños were a great combination. Not to spicy at all. I will say I was skeptical on having it delivered which they do have disclaimers about. Another road trip stop! I was craving pizza but it was getting late. We also need a place with gluten and dairy free options for my sister in law. We found this place but we were an hour away with a hour time change in between so we weren't sure if we were gunna make it. My only complaint is we called like 6 times to put the order in but also explain we would arrive like 5 minutes before closing but we never got anyone to answer. We ended up putting our order in online which was easy enough. We got a small gluten and dairy free pizza with pepperoni and then a larger turbo meater. We got there and they didn't seemed fazed by us running in with a few minutes before they closed which was cool. Even though the pizza probably sat for a bit they were piping hot and fresh! Plus, they don't have a soft drink machine, and no ice, so you have to get a can of soda, which is terrible for any restaurant. Love love love this place, not my first time upon the review writing but it was the first time for my partner. Between the outside patio and the upstairs wide open windows, you can get a great view of the city outskirts. Ordering is done at the counter and you get a text update with your order status. Fooooood is incredible at Futuro. I love to get the small Detroit style pizza and an order of breadsticks to share. That's also way more food than it sounds. The Futuro Classic (pepperoni, sausage, mushroom) is what I got this time around. The carmelized cheese around the crust is the best finishing touch. Breadsticks with the nacho cheese, the very classic. Overall, this with two drinks is around $30 which is pretty decent for the amount of food that is. There's parking in their own lot or across the street. The directions are a little funky if you follow Apple Maps because I believe it wants to take you around the block a weird way if you're coming in on Washington Street, but that's because Cruse Street itself is a one-way. Value score (food quantity and quality per dollar): 5/5 stars. I feel like it's hard to get a very filling meal for $15/person at a lot of places these days. This is the best Detroit-style pizza I've ever had. I wasn't super familiar with with Indianapolis before I went, so I did a search for best places to eat near downtown and saw this one appear on a couple of different lists and on social media platforms. Its a bit off the beaten path, so you'll likely want to drive or Uber if coming from downtown, but it was well worth it. One of the guys I was travelling with was super excited to see they had a gluten free (GF) option for their Detroit style. When we got there and talked to the manager, he said everything was made in house including all the dough and the GF dough. Pretty rare for a pizza shop to make their own GF dough in my experience. Most will offer it as an option, but it is sourced from somewhere else. We were quoted 30 minutes for our pizzas, which didn't seem like a big deal on a Friday night. It ended up being closer to an hour, but the weather was nice and we had a great table outside on the patio with a nice view of downtown. It was well worth the wait. I got their "turbo meater" which is their meat lover's pizza. It was incredible. It came with house made meatballs, house made sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, and their house made sauce. It was described as big enough to feed 1-2. I ate half of mine and took the rest back to the place we were staying for leftovers. On the GF crust, my friend got the bacon basil which had spinach, bacon, onion, ricotta, basil, hot honey, and red sauce. He was able to eat a similar amount as me, and had plenty to take home as well. He wanted to compare crusts, as the GF tasted so good he was worried it wasn't. There was a difference in the size of the air bubbles between them, and the GF was slightly more dense. When your GF crust is so good it has GF people questioning if they got the right crust, you are doing something right. My girlfriend is also GF and has a conference in Indianapolis later this year. Futuro's pizza was absolutely incredible! The best Detroit-style pizza in Indy, hands down! Staff is great and our food came out in less than 10 or so minutes. Upstairs seating is the best option, so beware that there is no ramp to get up there if you're needing wheelchair access. When you order, you walk up to register and get a receipt with an order number. You can also sign up to get a text notification when your order is ready so you don't have to stand and wait downstairs for it. Overall, Futuro is a great Indy restaurant and even better food! Very disappointed expected a lot more. We ordered the Detroit style and the tavern style. The Detroit style I would give a C rating my wife gave it a D rating. We ate it there because having any pizza delivered is not worthy of a review because it's not their best product. Even so I told the person working that I wanted to try their best version of the pizza so I would like to get it right out of the oven and he said no problem I will bring it up to you and we were waiting upstairs and didn't get our pizza so I went downstairs and it was already sweating in their holding cabinet and they never brought it to us. The pizza was not cooked enough and the sauce was cold. The signature cheese on the edge of the crust was almost nonexistent and certainly not caramelized like it should be at all. There was not enough cheese for how thick the crust was. Real detroit style is crispy on the bottom this had no crisp and the dough was heavy and should've risen more and been lighter. It just wasn't good at all. Even though the tavern style wasn't brought up to us and was steaming in the box I grabbed it before it lost its crisp but there's a very short window and 10 minutes later it was like mush especially the mushroom onion one. It was decent and I'd give it a B rating when it was still crisp then it went down to a C rating. Even though it's a very thin crust I would've liked more cheese on the pizza. It's a very dense crust and doesn't have much flavor I don't like this style. The Tavern style in Columbus Ohio that I'm used to is layered and not dense and has flavor because it's fermented and I like that style much better. I would never order either of these pizzas again. I wish I would have ordered sam's square pie instead, looking at the pictures on yelp I can tell it's a much better version of Detroit pizza. read more

This pizza is pretty good! I was surprised that the inside gave me old nostalgic pizza parlor vibes. I didn't check out the upstairs but the main entrance had drinks, seating, and an arcade game. I went to the bathroom and the bathroom was clean which is a plus in my book. We chose the cheese pizza in Chicago tavern style and it was good and thin. Great texturally, but not enough cheese for it to be a cheese pizza. We also ordered the spotted pig in a small and it fed me and my husband so it's pretty decent sizing. The personal pizza is huge! You need to ask yourself, before you order it: Am I prepared to eat a pizza that can possibly feed a family of three? If the answer is yes, like it was for me, then it ain't no thing. Eat your pizza with unabashed glee. I know I did. I took my personal Detroit-style pizza to the upstairs seating, and ate it until my pants didn't feel right. One thing you need to be aware of, though: The pizzas at Futuro are made to order, and they are thick Detroit-style pizzas, so they will take some time to cook. Once I ordered, the server told me it would be about 25 minutes before my meal was ready. That's kind of a long time when you're hungry for pizza! So just know that going in. You know what distracts you from hunger pangs? Beer! Futuro has a few beers on tap, as well as a plethora of local and local-ish beers in cans. I tried some of Futuro's amazing pizzas recently. I purchased the "Classic" pizza Tavern style and a Pepperoni pizza Detroit style and breadsticks. Alyssa helped me and was extremely friendly and helpful. The first bite was the Tavern. All my wife kept saying was mmm...mmm...mmm. so, that was a hit and I would definitely agree! Next we sampled the breadsticks. My first thought was how soft they were and tasted the parm and seasonings. Not a normal breadstick. I commented I could eat a full order of just them! Lastly we tried the Detroit. As with the Tavern, the toppings are abundant. From end to end, corner to corner. I'm a fan of Detroit style and spent many years there for work. Love this place! I took a friend who literally lives around the corner but had never been, and she said her life has been transformed! They have lunch specials which was great but if you want gluten free or anything changes you go off the menu, which is actually a good deal. I had their gluten free Detroit style pizza and ate until I was so stuffed, but still had 3 pieces left! They have outdoor seating as well as an entire upstairs with tables and a wall bench overlooking the city. TL;DR- Crust is terrible. Toppings are sparse. No refills. Tipping requested for no actual service. You have to come back downstairs and pick up your pizza when it's done. One single salad and it's premade sitting in a cooler. I haven't been this disappointed in a restaurant since the Rail cruffin debacle of 2016. I had high hopes, maybe too high, for Futuro. I do like that the location is not in the heart of downtown and you don't have to worry about parking. There is a parking lot directly across the street. The entire ordering, getting your food, and seating situation is a whole other beast though. As we were walking up to the building, I noticed a stairway on the right before you get to the entrance, but I paid it no mind. When I walked in side, I noticed that there was only one single table on the inside. When we got to the ordering counter I told the person it was our first time and asked if they only had one table for the inside and mostly outside seating. He answered that they had inside seating upstairs, but didn't point out the second set of stairs hidden by the soda fridge. Speaking of soda, it comes in a can. They have no fountain drinks and not even any ice in the entire place. We settled on 2 canned Pepsi, the spotted pig Detroit style pizza, and breadsticks. We wanted to try the salad but they aren't made fresh. They're premade and sitting in a cooler. We opted to pass. So we are checking out and of course the tipping screen pops up and starts at 18% (which yes we did pick 18% and I know, no one held a gun to my head and made me pick it) 18% for what? I don't tip at McDonalds I get free refills there. But whatever, we pay and go up the stairs we passed on the way in. Those AREN'T the stairs to get up to the inside seating. The door at the top is locked. I feel like the person taking our order could have said oh hey the stairs are over there since we told him it was our first time. So we go back downstairs and inside but no one is around now to ask where the stairs are. So we go out the back door looking for the second set of satiates and nothing. We finally find the stairs on the opposite side of the door hidden by the drink cooler and unlabeled. 20 minutes later we get the text that the food is ready so we go down and grab what looks like a to go order and march back up the stairs to finally eat. I know I'm in the minority here but I didn't like anything except the sauce here. The crust is hard and crunchy and the breadsticks were undercooked. It was so under whelming. The sauce is really really good but it wasn't enough to redeem the terrible crust, sparse toppings, and watery tasteless ricotta. read more

I had the opportunity recently to brag about all things Yelp Indy, however, you can imagine my embarrassment, okay faux embarrassment, when the subject came up of Indy's beloved and highly rated Futuro, a Holy Cross culinary heaven with pizza that consistently ends up on "best of" lists and top spots for Yelp. While I'd been to Futuro's sister joint when it was open in SoBro, despite a strong desire I'd never made it to Futuro. Then, it came up in a conversation about Yelp and I knew it was time to right that wrong. So, I finally did. How did I manage to miss this for wrong? This is like an orgasm for the tummy. It's like heaven on earth. (Yes, I mentioned an orgasm and heaven in the same paragraph. You already know I'm not quite right). Seriously. This is a delight. Futuro specializes in Detroit style and Chicago Tavern Style Pizza - both just happen to be my faves. They also have gluten-free options. They have some specialty options and build-your-own options. Their standard pizza dough is vegan. This is the kind of place where you order a pizza, you love that pizza, you look around, and you want that other pizza. I want ALL the pizzas. Accessibility? Not quite perfect, though it works. They have seating in a second floor dining room, a table on the main floor, and a lot of patio seating. They do note that they work with delivery services, though they also offer a bit of a caution given their lack of control once the pizza leaves their building. You can order pick-up or carryout, though it's generally best to do that online as when they get busy in-house the phone may ring a bit. This is also a counter service model - so if you arrive to pick up, go to the counter. They also carry beer and cider. Futuro also offers catering, group/event/party events, and more. Employees? Friendly. Pizza? Incredible. I tried the small Detroit Style Futuro Classic (Ezzo Borough cut pepperoni, housemade Italian sausage, mushrooms, Pecorino Romano, housemade red sauce) and it was a delight. Crust was sublime, toppings were perfect, serving size was great, and overall it was just a sublime pizza pie. I've also tried the breadsticks - while I'm more of garlic bread guy, these are baked in blend of garlic butter and you can get garlic butter on the side (or house red sauce). We're currently living in Indy as traveling healthcare workers, and one of our favorite things to do is explore as many local food spots as possible. After reading great reviews, we decided to try Futuro. We ordered the Bacon Basil pizza along with the breadsticks. The pizza was good--great flavor, quality ingredients, and overall something we enjoyed. Unfortunately, the breadsticks didn't quite hit the mark for us. They were a bit bland and overcooked, lacking flavor and moisture, which was disappointing...especially since they looked so promising. Overall, if you're ordering to go, we'd recommend grabbing your pizza from Futuro and picking up breadsticks elsewhere. This is simply our honest experience. We enjoyed it upstairs before hitting the road - we grabbed a small detroit spotted pig and breadsticks the presentation was gorgeous, in addition to how it looked, the contrast of the hot pizza with the cool ricotta whipped on top was delightful and the flavor combination was fantastic. The breadsticks are well seasoned, and as someone who is loudly not a crust girly, the thick crust has such a good flavor they could convince me otherwise. Food: I ordered the BYO with pepperoni for both complimentary toppings. It came sliced and ground. Loved having both options. The red sauce was tasty and a little sweet. My boo picked up our dinner and introduced me to Futuro! Overall the food was good. The crust was a 10/10. Loved how it was crunchy!! I did think the flat bread was a little salty than I like. Maybe due to the amount of pepperonis. The service was good and he picked up the food with no problem. I am Not sure how the ambiance was but I'm sure it was great. Where do I start?! As a pizza enthusiast I was highly impressed by Futuro. I'm really particular about my thin crust pizzas, I grew up near Chicago so if you know, you know haha. My dad & I stopped here for a daddy/daughter date & when I saw they had tavern style crust pizzas I HAD to try it. It's not a huge place, which I can appreciate. You can grab the pizza to go or sit upstairs in the dining area. They have cool art work & there is a TV if you're into that. The hostess that took our order was patient with us since it was our first time. We were a little undecided but decided on the Chicken Limo pizza. It was delicious & full of flavor.
