Heard rave reviews so had to come check it out for myself! It's not obvious from the street where this place is but just trust that you are walking in to the right spot! Follow your nose :) I missed the sign but there is a small one outside. The owner, Sam is very nice and friendly. It's a small space inside but several tables. I imagine seating can be challenging during peak times. We went on a Wednesday evening and no issues with parking or seating. The meatballs are the best! 10/10 for me! I love the FLAVOR! You get 3 meatballs per order. They are nice size and I think the price is fair. The sauce is very good as well. I would definitely come back for these! I tried their most popular pizza the Jefe. It was just ok to me. To be fair, I don't like pepperonis but I picked them off as the person I went with loves pepperonis. I couldn't taste much of the sausage. The jalepeno ricotta sounds amazing but I couldn't really taste any jalepenos or spice to it. I did appreciate the pizza dough was airy and crisp and not chewy and "doughy". I wouldn't order this again but would like to try another pizza ; most likely a build my own. As far as drinks, there is a cooler with canned and bottled water. There is beer and wine available as well. There is free tap water.

Best pizza in Indy! The crust was crunchy, soft and bounced back. Truly can tell by taste, looks and texture that's it's made in house. If you haven't been here yet--you're missing out.

The pie made its way home still hot and we loved the sweet salty dough, paired with the chewy cheese, honey glaze combination. It packed a punch and we'll definitely be coming back for more. They offer a small dine in space but we opted for carryout. It was faster than I expected for a deep dish style pizza. Highly recommend!
From the outside, it's an unassuming spot on 10th street but it's totally worth a stop! The staff was so friendly and the owner was so warm and genuinely welcoming to everyone who came in. It seemed like there were a lot of first-timers in and I really appreciated him telling us where to order, etc. right away. We ordered garlic knots with vodka sauce and a "just kissed my baby" pizza. Each came out pretty quickly and both were incredible!! We could've eaten that vodka sauce with a spoon. Will definitely recommend and be back again! Lots of parking available in a lot behind the building and on the street off 10th.
Greeted by the owner when we walked in. That man doesn't know a stranger such a nice guy. Hugged me and thanked me for coming in. It's order at the counter service. We order two pizzas and garlic knots two canned sodas. The food was fresh delicious. If you want water it's free in a water cooler by the register. Also bottle water for purchase. Just go the vibes were good and buying local is always better . Keep in mind it's not Pizza Hut so the pizzas you get from those places aren't available here.
First let me start off by saying that the owner is wonderful! I feel like the atmosphere of the place just makes you feel like you're in for a good time. As for the food itself, one of the best pizzas I've had by far. I loved the crispy edges, the jalapeño ricotta cheese gives it a nice touch as well. A lot of flavors going on. They also have beef pepperoni for those who don't eat pork, a very nice substitute. Absolutely will be coming back.
10/10 -- easily one of the best pizzas I've had in Indiana, hands down! We ordered the El Jefe and the Sticky Icky and both were absolutely incredible. The ricotta on the El Jefe truly takes it to the next level and seals the deal. I'm already looking forward to going back to try more of their menu. If you've been debating it -- just get the pizza. It's more than worth it. The service was impeccable and the vibes were fantastic from start to finish!
High Plains Drifter pizza at Sam's Square Pizza is an award winning and I know why. First, the crust is a perfect crunch on the edges and a sponge dough in the center. The cheese blend pulls as you grab a slice. Who doesn't like a lot of cheese! The pesto and smoky maple syrup take it to the next level. Stop by and say hi to the owner. You won't regret it.
Good gluten free pizza is hard to come by, but Sam's Square Pie knocks it out of the park!! My expectations were exceeded with their GF Detroit style pizza and I cannot wait to order again! The crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings were perfection!
This is a small place with a ton of cool art inside. There is a parking lot in the back of the bldg. We were greeted by the owner, Sam, and he took our order. We got the Sticky Icky. The pizza was amazing. A small was very filling for two people. Would recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
First time here. I've seen a lot about this place and heard that it was one of the best pizza places in town. And it lived up to its billing. We started off with the garlic knots. They were really soft a great garlic flavor on them and had some cheese to dip them in. They were very hot and were really excellent. Not too heavy but still really good. Also, we had the El jefe pizza with sausage, three kinds of pepperoni, hot honey and ricotta cheese. It was incredible great cheesy crispy crust nice thick Detroit style crust. And the toppings were excellent with the sauce on top and then topped with a dollop of ricotta cheese. The honey gave it a really nice sweet flavor and some a little hot aftertaste. The pepperoni was great sausage was great overall it was one of the best pizzas I have had in town. We got drinks out of the refrigerator, canned and bottled. But they also have a bar, but we just chose to do cokes. The atmosphere is really cool lots of Indianapolis area memorabilia kinds of things and references. A really cool space very welcoming friendly. Small seating area, maybe six or eight tables. But plenty of space for us. The guy that helped us to get our order in talk to us through the entire menu and was very friendly welcome rest in and told us to have a nice week when we left. Highly recommend.
We are in town for the Indy 500 and decided to try this local eatery. The pizza was beyond delicious! We ordered the El Jefe and my husband reports it is the best pizza he's ever eaten in his life. I don't disagree. The restaurant has an eclectic vibe and the owners are fabulous people. They're very welcoming and happy to give us recommendations on what to order. The whole place had an eclectic chill vibe with 80's music pumping at the perfect volume to enjoy and also be able to have a conversation with the people around you. We met locals and enjoyed the game on the TV in front of us at the bar. The restaurant probably seats 25 people with 7 to 8 tables and a bar that seats about eight people. They serve beer and wine spritzer's. I found them on Yelp and as always, Yelp did not disappoint!

As a native New Yorker, I prefer the East coast pizza style, but this pizza... I think it's called "Detroit" style, a saucy, thick crust but not like a deep dish. After much deliberation, I chose the Loving Cup-pepperoni, sausage & pesto + red sauce and cheese. I ordered online and left my house minutes ahead of the pickup. My order ready text arrived en route. The guy at the counter was very friendly and the interior had some tables and chairs and a few good beers on tap, in addition to some canned options and cider. The pizza had crispy, carmelized edges, generous toppings and the crust a nice crunchy exterior and soft interior. The pricing may seem high but this is a very filling pizza. I may have dreamed of my leftovers. I'm thrilled to have Sam's close to home. I heard this place gets busy during peak times. Plan ahead, it's worth it.
I had been wanting to try this spot for a while, because I love Detroit style pie. Apparently I got there just in time. I read a couple days later that they were closing their doors. But they are looking for a new location... good move, I was nervous leaving my truck out back while I went in to get my pie. But the pie was worth the risk. The pie was to die for. Amazing flavor, perfect crust, and super friendly staff. Can't wait until they find a new spot. 10 Stars!!!! read more

This isn't my first review of Sam's, but I can't stop gushing about this gem every time we eat there. The pizza is absolute perfection. If you're not eating there, you're not living your best life. The crust alone (Detroit-style) takes four days, and you can tell. Nothing rushed = perfection. And the owner, Jeff, is fun to talk to if you sit at the counter. Hours of operation: Wednesday: 4 PM - 8 PM Thursday: 4 PM - 8 PM Friday: 4 PM - 9 PM Saturday: 4 PM - 9 PM Do yourself a favor and go there the next time you're wondering what you're going to have for dinner. I'm embarrassed to say that it took me way longer to get here to Sam's but I finally made it. And man, I'm glad I did! My husband and I were greeted by the owner who was so kind and told us about the pies and their ingredients. I'd seen his videos in the past so it was cool to meet him. We decided on the James, which quite honestly was one of the best pies I've ever had. Every aspect of it was fire--the different kinds of pepperoni, perfectly charred, the best Italian sausage, a touch of basil, red onions (not too many) , appropriately acidic sauce that tied it all together and then Mike's hot honey--just a drizzle-- that adds a slightly sweet slightly spicy kick. I almost asked for it on the side and I'm so glad I didn't and trusted the process. Oh, and aged pecorino on top. There's no skimping on quality ingredients here. Sam's Square Pie is the real deal. I can't wait to go back. I've got my eye on the El Jefe next. read more

I've been on the east side and lived in the dime all my life -- but somehow have never heard of Sam's Square Pie before a few weeks ago. I saw they had a pizza that I literally could not locate anywhere, and thought I would go give it a try. I had an Irie (Trio in some places) and it was heaven sent. The sauces were layered perfectly and every bite was unique. Not to mention the greatest cheese wall crust on this side of the Mississippi. It was so good and the people treated me so nicely that I decided to do it again a few nights later. Jeff and his service are top notch. The 2nd pizza was a little sloppier with the sauce, but it didn't change the fact of the matter -- This is the best pizza in the country. I don't care who gives it what kind of review, my family looks forward to that Pizza Bib entering our home! Lastly, the place itself feels so amazing. It is comparable to a good man cave, where you can drink a nice drink, eat some good pizza, and enjoy the ambiance of historic Irvington. The only thing I will do different when I order my pizza on Wednesday () is order the Irie Grandma Style and ask Jeff to make sure the sauces are evenly distributed and done right. What's crazy? I know for a fact he will offer to do it all for me, all while taking orders and fixing mistakes. I give it a year and Jeff will be forced out of this spot, as the artistry he's crafting in the kitchen is going to become a worldwide sensation. Bet on it. read more
Talk about the nicest people ever??!! Sam's square pie was delicious. We ordered granny style "vodka roni granny" and added pesto and burrata. We also got garlic knots and tiramisu.. which were delicious. This place has good local beers on draft and a fun vibe inside. The owner, Sam, explained the menu to us and guided us on our order. 10/10 no notes!! (We street parked for free right outside the restaurant) read more
I love this place! Finally, a great pizza place in my neighborhood. I hope this place continues to do well and sticks around for a long time! The pizza is fabulous. It is detroit style so it is a large rectangle and it is thick. 1-2 slices will do you well. You can easily split a pizza between 3 people (IMO) unless everyone is very hungry. The service is great. I sat at the bar top counter and really enjoyed speaking with the server. She was super friendly and overall the restaurant has a great neighborly vibe to it. I will continue to get pizza from here! Only gave 4 starts instead of 5 due to the limited seating and they did not serve alcohol (at least when I was there). These aren't big deals, but just explaining my star review! Support local everyone! Update to above review* I went back to Sam's last night for takeout. I got the small Camaro pizza to split with a friend- it was the perfect amount. I really love the crust and red sauce on the pizza. It's so delicious. I also noticed that they do serve alcohol now and have a bar seating area. I went in to get the pizza and heard the manager telling the employees "great job everyone." I loved hearing the positivity amongst the employees. Really great customer service too! *DISCLAIMER* i drive an hour home with this and reheated. The food was good but the crust was a bit hard/crunchy and kind of hurt the roof of my mouth although the flavor was there. I ordered to go and the service was quick and staff was very friendly. The inside was kinda like a cafe/bar and there wasn't a whole lot of room inside but by no means was it a bad ambiance. I would've ate In there if I didn't wanna relax at home instead. Overall I want to give it 4/5 and I think it could've been that had I not waited but how I received it was 3/5. read more

Wow! Amazing service and just a community vibe to the place. The pizza was great, the wine was great, and the overall experience was outstanding! They do have a full bar to compliment the pizza as well. The interior is decorated very fun and my kids really enjoyed sitting on the repurposed truck bench. Very fun experience. I can't believe it but I had never heard of this place until I read about it in the newspaper. I know that seems crazy but after I read about them I had to look it up and all of the pictures and comments are pretty good so I had to try it for myself. You have to go to the pizza shop to order they don't have a phone. You can park out front if there is a spot on 10th but if not there is a parking lot out back. There is a nice area to sit down to eat as well as a place to wait If you are getting it to go like I did. I ordered 2 small pizzas an El Jefe and a pepperoni. It was about a 20min wait. The pizza held up nicely on the way home and was as good as it looked. You may not think hot honey is a good idea when you read the description but it compliments the pizza well. The crust is also perfect, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I can't wait to share this spot with others. read more

Great Detroit style pizza! It's my new favorite in Indy. The ingredients are clean and the cheese is high quality. The crispy edges are a treat. It's easy to get full on two slices, so a large pie (8 slices) was perfect for our group. They have nine varieties of pizza to choose from, including garlic knots and cheesy garlic bread. The employees were super friendly. There is a dine-in area with a few tables and chairs and it's a nice ambiance inside with art on the walls. read more

Im giving five stars because the energy is incredible and i respect a well ran business. Im glad that i finally got to try this viral place that had my mouth WATERING. It was worth having for sure. But if im honest, I personally would not return. The pizza was WAY too crispy and chewy for me. I do typically enjoy Detroit style pizza but i don't think this pie spot is for me. Me and my mother split a regular size and she agrees...We're glad we tried it at least. Thanks for amazing service in a very cool, eclectic space! read more

Hands down some of the best pizza I've ever had. My husband and I eat a lot of pizza and try a lot of pizza/styles and we couldn't get over how perfect this pizza was. We ordered online ahead of time and though our pizza wasn't ready when we arrived once we got it, it came out hot and delicious. On top of the amazing pizza, the space and restroom were clean and service was extremely friendly. It's the perfect little chill and cozy pizza spot. I can't wait to go again. read more

So delicious! Very friendly staff. You order at the counter and grab disposable cups, plates, and utensils to eat with. Seat yourself. We ordered a regular size El Jefe pizza with hot honey on the side. It was hot and fresh with melty ricotta on top and a crunchy cheese crust. Very satisfying and the regular size was perfect for two. Would love to see a few more creative options on their menu, as most of the pizzas are pepperoni or sausage. Still, we would definitely visit again! Great option for a local joint. read more

First and foremost, this Sam guy is one of the friendliest people I've ever met. He greeted everyone with a handshake or hug and is genuinely a nice man. But the food is also outstanding! Meatballs were some of the best I've had in the city. Garlic knots could stand more garlic in my opinion but still very good. Pizza was excellent! A little more sauce would be nice but we really enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely be back soon. read more

My ears perk up a bit when I hear the words pizza and East Side in the same sentence. There's a nice backstory about this spot and I suggest anyone curious to check out the multiple stories in local media on this. I've been converted to Detroit-Style pizza since moving to the Midwest and naturally this becomes an easy must-try option. I see this as a completely different approach than Futuro so if you're looking for a comparison there isn't much of one. Sam's Square Pie really embraces the art of a crispy cheese edge to an extent that it becomes a very distinct outside layer. The pizza itself becomes very stable to hold a piece despite heavy toppings, but also the greasiness feels contained. Overall it is a nice presentation and the sauce/toppings are added on artfully. You will feel the calorie density as you eat the pizza, it's a rewarding experience. Normally I make my way deep into a pizza but found myself tapping out two slices into the El Jefe. A true meat lovers experience can be had with the El Jefe as well as other options. I look forward to seeing more collaborations and combinations. read more

I am really interested to try the Sicilian style from here, as no other pizza spot in Indy has really made an effort to feature that particular style. Went to website to order but not seeing where I can specify which style pizza to order. Any help?
If you have instagram send me a direct message. We only make a few due to the amount of pans and time spent on the Detroit style. The Sicilian is twice the dough and 12 slices feeds 6-7.
