Ube cream filled malasadas are a must try at $3.25 each. The ube cream was super lightens was not overwhelmingly rich. Would come back. They have a variety of different pastries and flavors that look and sound delicious. Walking inside almost inspires me to bake something myself! read more

I'm so glad I came across this bakery on Yelp! I have been looking for a great bakery that has pastries as delicious as they are beautiful. The salesperson was very helpful and informative in which pastries were the most popular. The strawberry-cream filled croissant was one of their best. The chocolate dipped, candied orange pastry was fantastic, too. I also picked up some of their thin sliced bread that I've been toasting in the morning and putting peanut butter on it. Go Early for nest selection. I went in around 1pm and there were several items that were sold out. Check this place out, you won't be sorry! read more

Everything we ordered was amazing, sandwiches and donuts tasted great and were great quality! The curry beef balls are a must try. Lots of options and loafs of bread, and beautiful cakes...obsessed! #supportsmallbusiness read more

Yummy!! Great baked goods! We got the cheesecake, tosca, zen, and a crunchy cream doughnut. The tosca was AMAZING, get it if you go. Everything tasted so fresh, which was great. The doughnut was our other favorite. The cheesecake and the zen were fine, but the other two were delicious, especially the Tosca! The little parking lot next to the building had a few spots which was nice. The employees were very friendly! read more

My partner and I have tried almost everything on the pastry menu given that it's one of the closest bakeries that we live near. We initially came here to try the beef curry malasada, and that is extremely good and we get it everytime we go. However the other individual pastries...we've tried maybe around 80% so here's the review of each from good to bad: Matcha Cruffin: A wonderful menu item. They do not skimp on the matcha glaze, and its perfectly lightly sweetened, with the bitter matcha flavor coming through. The croissant is soft with a nice crust. However, these sell out very quickly, so go around 9am if you want one. Cream Cheese Danish: If you like cream cheese, this is a great pastry! The pastry is flakey yet soft, and there's a large block of cream cheese which is a great fatty taste to compliment the delicate pastry. Almond Croissant: Typical almond croissant from a french bakery! Probably can't go wrong. Pear Croissant: The pear is a good size, and it meshes well with the texture and taste of the croissant. Bacon Cheese Bread: A little bit dry (might've been from coming in at 1pm), however great flavor and on the chewier side! Croissant: It doesn't flake into pieces upon biting, and the butteriness is okay. Not particularly outstanding, we think Le Panier's croissant is better. Strawberry and Peach Shortcake: The shortcake itself is good, however our main complaint is the strawberry jam. We did not expect there to be preserved jam (as most shortcakes in Japan have never included jam), and that addition made our opinion of the cake fall from good to would-not-get-again. Shokupan: My partner is from Japan, and he believes these do not measure up to the ones sold at the supermarket. If it was priced $2 lower, it would be worth the quality. The crust is a bit difficult to eat as it is dry, but the inside is relatively soft. Orange Chocolate Croissant: Only the dark chocolate candied orange in the inside tastes good, the pastry ingredients doesn't mesh well together in terms of flavor profile. Other Malasadas (Lilikoi, ube): The malasadas here do not compare with Hawaii's. The donut itself is dry, and the malasadas are filled with flavoured custard/cream, which tasted pretty disappointing. Hot Cross Buns: These are strange. There's an apricot glaze that's not distributed evenly across the bun, and the bun itself is dry and cakey. The cream cheese dressing on the top doesn't add any real body to the pastry. Would not recommend. Custard Bread: Incredibly dry and eating it with the custard just feels like the custard is trying to rehydrate the bread. Overall, I recommend the beef curry malasada and the matcha cruffin since they're super unique to Fuji Bakery and they are outstanding pastries. Hopefully our review helps some people choose which pastry they would like, and provides feedback to those at Fuji. read more

The best! Full stop. They are close by, but I'd drive a ways to get their perfect, light and flakey croissant, or their unbearably delicious Conole. Do not miss this place, lots of unusual opportunities for new bakery flavor: slightly sweet red bean filled perfectly baked doughnuts, for one. They do execute their pasteries like the best French bakery, and add their offerings Japanese influenced flavors, while still remaining true to the French underpinnings. I can't recommend them more highly. Did I mention that the people there are the nicest! read more

The selection was not as good as expected. Tiramisu was overpriced and kind of dry. Also, I asked for a cup of ice and later realized that they charged $0.50 for it. Who charges for just a cup of ice?! read more

TLDR: Crunchy Cream. Get one. 5 starts for sure. This is not a neighborhood I frequent, but I needed to go to Staples for some office supplies. I always like to stop off for local nibbles when I'm out and about just to explore the local flavor, and Fuji Bakery was such a wonderful, unexpected surprise!!! The store is not very impressive from the outside, and the parking is a little weird, but oh my goodness, the pastries are delicious! I loved everything I got! I ordered the crunchy cream, azuki donut, and the matcha croissant and it was $8. Very affordable in comparison to some of the other bakeries in surrounding neighborhoods. I would like to take a moment to highlight the Crunchy Cream donut. It's a classic vanilla cream filled donut, but it has a corn flakes coating the outside and then it's rolled in sugar! I thought it was a pretty novel idea, and it was executed very well. So crunchy, so creamy, so tasty!! I regret that this bakery is so far away from me! I probably will not have many chances to get back out to it, but if I do I will absolutely get a crunchy cream again!! read more

Stopped in here when my car broke down, looking for a screwdriver. The girl who helped me gave me the exact kindness I needed in that moment. The thing about this place is that it bakes up a sweet and savory storm of #carbogoodness. Come here whether you are on the stress train, eating your sorrows away, or just wanna pillow in your tummy. My go to is the red bean donut malasada like sugar shaken donut ball and/or the simple elegance of the sugar dusted brioche that shaped like a hair bun I've always aspired to up do. Their milk stick bread is meant to gnaw on while responding to email, and their katsu sandwiches should be had on a Friday when you can then sleep through the weekend. No fancy coffee. Just regular fuel and coffee mate. Don't judge this girl. read more

I finally got to try Fuji Bakery after driving by it so many times since moving to Magnolia. The first thing you notice when you walk in here is the smell! It is amazing, all of the baked goodness someone should seriously make a cologne of it. The service here is amazing. Before I get to the baked goods, I wanted to say there was a customer ahead of me who needed some extra attention to get her accounts combined since they were moving over to a new system. The staff was very attentive to her, both kept apologizing to me for the time it was taking but I wasn't in a hurry and told them to take their time as I was still in all about the baked goods. After the situation was taken care of, I was offered a free coffee for being so patient and understanding. This was pretty awesome. Ok now on to the food. I honestly don't remember everything I got here but I can tell you the mushroom croissant was delicious. I also got a salmon thingy that was like a blick of bread with salmon in it and it was to die for! The sugar donuts here are nice and fluffy and also tasty. I ended up also getting something with custard in it. All in all, I ordered WAY too much but have no regrets. I'll definitely be coming back here more often. By the way, the coffee here is delicious too! read more

Some days you wake up and your head is pounding and you don't have time to feed yourself before going to Golden Gardens because that time was spent finding and scrubbing someone else's vomit out of your shower. The only thing to do, in that case, is to locate some eats on the way to your destination and try very, very hard to forget about the morning's trauma. Enter Fuji Bakery. I was a little surprised to step in and see...maybe only a dozen pastries. Not a dozen kinds: a dozen. Total. For being their commercial kitchen this seems like an oversight. I snagged a croissant for immediate eatings and then got a box with a couple bacon epis, milk sticks, almond croissants, etc. to contribute to the beach picnic. My brother then got pretty much the rest of what they had available for the same reason. I'm not sure why, but the two girls in charge of packaging and working the register could simply not deal with the fact that we wanted to pay for our hauls individually. Rang it up as one transaction - we asked if they could just split it down the middle. Much furrowing of brows and staring at the point of sale system. No, was the final decision. So we asked if they could void the transaction and just ring up our separate items as we had initially anticipated. More furrowed brows. A cautious 'yes'. We detailed which items we had each selected. Dull panic started to take root in the girls' eyes as they continued to ring it up incorrectly. By now this transaction was transitioning my headache/nausea into an overwhelming urge to scream. I gave up on trying to be rung up correctly and paid for whatever nonsense mish-mash had been tallied and left, grateful to finally get into the open air. The pastries were, of course, amazing. Everyone loves the bacon epis and milk sticks because what is not to love? Our box of goodies disappeared fairly quickly, everyone raving and wanting to know where we scored such a delicious haul. But because this location is not generally personally convenient, and because the selection was limited, and because of the supreme tooth-gritting incompetence, I'm probably not going to come back unless someone throws up in my shower before I head to Golden Gardens again. read more

Curry angus beef bun. It's unforgettable. I've been here a handful of times and it's just such a sad moment when you see they've sold out of them, while quite the opposite when you see a freshly baked mountain of them on a silver platter like what happened today ($3). I also tried their Pistache Griotte with raspberry Griotte and cherry jam ($2) which made for a great dessert. The parking makes me nervous along the fast and steady flow of traffic along Elliott Avenue; and the small parking lot enclosed in a barbed-wire chain link fence next to a few crappy cars from who knows where is not on par with the clean style and colorful pastel motif of the interior. read more

This place is such an awkward location along 15th... I've driven by it everyday going to and from work for 3 years and as an avid baked goods fans I can't believe I've just now finally decided to stop in. I did come a little later in the morning on a weekend and the bakery case wasn't very full but I was able to snag a couple of the crunchy creams... I highly suggest them and also a mango coconut croissant, also great. The prices were pretty average compared to other bakeries and pastry places in down and it looks like they do some savory lunch options/salads as well. Looking forward to stopping in again and seeing what else I can try! read more

Stop what you're doing and go to Fuji Bakery NOW! I had driven by this spot over a dozen times and always been curious but never bothered to stop in. From the outside, it doesn't look like much - like a small warehouse that happens to have automatic sliding glass doors and a plain sign with the bakery's name on it in a very simple font. I parked in their small free dedicated lot beside the bakery and hesitantly walked in, completely prepared to turn around and walk out... [eyes widened] The shiny cases displayed a huge selection of unique pastries I had never seen before and some that were familiar. I eagerly scanned the cases: a salmon pastry in the shape of a cube, large selection of French macaroons, cups of creme brûlée topped with meringue, red bean and green tea flavoured pastries, they even had panettone! It was like you took the best bakeries from around the world, mixed them up, and out popped Fuji. I brought home a selection of goods, all of them were great but the cornflake crusted cream filled sugar doughnut is by far one of the most impressive things I've eaten in months. Crunchy on the outside, with a layer of chewy dough surrounding the creamy middle. They have sweet, savoury, meaty, and vegetarian baked goods - something for everyone. The lady helping me at the counter was friendly. The shop was brightly lit and cleanly. Parking is easy. They also accept credit cards. I highly recommend you stop into Fuji Bakery - you will be glad you did! read more

I tried Fuji Bakery today for the first time. I'm not necessarily a fan of doughnuts, but I tried the sugar doughnuts and I have never been so delighted! They were amazing light, strong flavor, not oily at all. Absolutely delicious! The azuki doughnut (red bean paste) was also very good, and a nice respite from the typical overly sweet doughnuts. I also tried their ham and cheese croissant (more of a strudel pastry) that was quite tasty :) read more

Love the pastries, hate the online ordering system. I live 5 min away from the place. I placed the order, the awaited 50min! for order to be ready. Then on my arrival to the shop been told that I have to go to the end of the line outside the shop to pickup my order placed and paid 50 min ago. So my waiting time summed up for more than an hour. All other places if you order online in advance - you came and pickup once it's ready. NOT THIS PLACE. Will not order again, and will not come back until end of the COVID. So 2stars. Also upon pick up, I after standing in the line, and after I came to my car - I discovered that I've been given only half of my order. So I had to come back to faced again attitude to from the staff silently looking for the rest my order. No apologies ever been offered, neither first time when they putted me in the end of the line and when I had come back for the rest. Changing to ONE read more

This is still my favorite Japanese bakery in America. When I went again after 2-3 years of deprivation, I pre-ordered around 10 orange chocolate pastries to bring back to California. I liked Fuji. Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and took a few pastries togo included a strawberry something, curry beef bun, and a chocolate croissant. The pastries here are light, flaky, and just the right amount of sweetness. Go earlier as they tend to run out of items later in the day. The curry beef bun is popular and flavorwise, it was good, but I found it somewhat too greasy. Next time I'll stick to the pastries. read more
