The food here is fantastic. My favorite dish by far is the salt and pepper shrimp. It's so flavorful and savory with the perfect crunch with the shell. Everything was delicious! It can be really difficult finding Chinese food that isn't Americanized, so I'm ecstatic to have found Fu Mon Lau. The staff were polite and prompt. Cute place, good prices and the food was pretty good. We had won ton soup, Hunan chicken and spring rolls. The lunch portion was perfect. Four stars because we were never checked on, and after 10 minutes of us being finished and ready to pay we had to interrupt two employees rolling silverware at the table next to us to get the bill. This place is common Asian food. Restaurant is very nice, comfortable seating, clean restrooms. Service is fast, people are kind but...... For Vegans you MUST be very specific what you order. Do not expect their sauces taste same as with meats. Their sauces are far better than common Chinese restaurants. They'll work with vegans with options, again be extremely specific, don't expect them to know what your wanting. Grill: My wife ordered additional grilled onions for my Sesame Tofu because they do not add onions to vegetable order. Additional $2.50 for vegetables and another $2.50 for Onions, well, I tasted whatever was cooked on surface they'd grilled those onions which ruined my palate. Disgusting.... I've eaten at restaurant all over America and I expect that aftertaste grill flavor from Waffle House or Pancake House style restaurants. However, in most other restaurants grilled onions should taste sweet caramelized light onion flavor. What I received was Waffle House on Asian plate. As most Asian Restaurants they serve most condiment sauces in packets. So, they decided to be cheap serving nasty tasteless plastic packeted condiments sauces instead of fresh restaurant prepared condiments as in Hot Mustard, Duck Sauce etc. This has nothing to do with Covid, Asian Restaurants been doing this for years. Monkey see, Monkey do.... Wines: Terpenes vaporized weeks ago. Basically flat. My wife and I decided to not return here. People (culture) seem to think taking on American traditions is a good thing and it's not, Asian restaurants have become sloppy over the years and it's gotten worse. This was a recommendation from a friend from Toronto (and you KNOW Toronto had some amazing food!). My husband happens to love Chinese food and it was his birthday so I decided to take him here (please please please don't disappoint...) They did not disappoint! It was a snowy Monday and not a lot of people were about, so we had the restaurant pretty much to ourselves. Their grand opening sign was still up (thank god or we would've wandered around lost). The restaurant is new, modern and spacious. Service was quick and friendly. The menu has a huge and had things I never would've considered eating (jellyfish salad--sorry but my texture issues won the day). The crab Rangoon are heavenly (order 2 or you'll be fighting). I had the beef brisket clay pot which was hot and delicious and perfect for a snowy day. I appreciated that the portion sizes weren't epic, so I wasn't lugging around a week's worth of leftovers afterwards. I really liked their short wine list, and I liked that the glass and bottle price was the same regardless of which wines you ordered. There is a rumor that it took the entire kitchen to uncork our bottle, but I certainly don't believe it. This will inevitably be compared to China Cottage which isn't a fair comparison. The food here fresh, interesting and felt more modern. This was the perfect birthday dinner and I have no doubt we'll be regulars. read more

Folks, run (don't walk) to get some delicious Cantonese style food! This place serves traditional Hong Kong style food in generous portions for the price, and even some Americanized Chinese food as well for those of you that are less adventurous. I mean, they even have fresh fish swimming in tanks here to order! Extensive menu. Staff willing to explain anything we had questions about. Portion sizes here were probably 1.5 meals per main dish. Plan to get a couple main dishes and share with your family. There were not many people here as it is currently in its soft opening + COVID, so we chose to dine in, and felt pretty comfortable with that. They provide hand sanitizer at the door, and seat you away from other guests. All employees wore masks, and most of the waitresses wore gloves as well when serving food. We knew our waitress from another Chinese restaurant in the area, and she took very good care of us. There are 2 menus here, one is more English and the other more traditional. There are lunch specials from 11-3, and they are Americanized Chinese dishes. Food. Is. Delicious. My husband's family hails from Hong Kong, and we have been dying for a taste of momma Sun's cookin as we haven't had a chance to this year. This place is spot on. I got the beef brisket wonton egg noodle soup. Boy it is good. Beef is succulent, has a decent amount of fat, but that's what makes the broth sooooo good. Noodles and wontons are perfectly cooked, wontons are a mix of shrimp and pork. Even some sprigs of gai lan in there. Mmmmmmm. My husband got the clay pot with grouper. Boy was it delicious. Fish wasn't fishy, perfect texture. Sizzling in our clay pot. Tofu is done well, has some carrots/cabbage/mushrooms in there too. Got some stir fried choy sum (gai lan), since it's hard to come by good fresh stuff up here. Comes with rice. Even the jasmine tea is delightful, and it is imported from China. All in all, with all that food we ate a lot of it because it was soooo good (we rolled out to our car). But realistically it would give us another meal to take home. LEGIT, AUTHENTIC Cantonese food. I've been waiting for them to open, and was blown away by their flavors and quality. Definitely reminds me of home, California! And the thing is that each dish is served piping hot. The flavors are on point, and they don't skimp on the serving size either. Goes great with white or brown rice! The peking style fried pork chops were tender with a good balance of sweet and sour. The salt and pepper shrimps were fresh, salty and peppery! Gotta have with it with the shell on! The shell is fried to perfection so it's crispy and may consume in whole (best way of eating fried shrimp!). We were looking for a Panera Bread and I thought I saw the sign. It wasn't Panera, but we happened to see this restaurant and decided to go for it. I consider this an authentic Chinese restaurant because it has dishes like pea pod leaves, eggplant, and fresh fish swimming in tanks, which I usually can only find in large Chinatowns like Chicago or Toronto. I decided to try Fu Mon Lau because my daughter DoorDashes and said she picks up from there a lot. So I DoorDashed an order for myself. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and spring rolls. The spring rolls were alright, nothing too exciting but pretty large for an appetizer. The sweet and sour chicken was really good, as well as the fried rice. The serving size was very large, I had two meals out of it! The sweet and sour sauce came on the side which I like so it wasn't overly drenched. I would try this place again and I have already recommended it to others. read more

Came back again with my family and it was great. Staff are nice and the restaurant is spacious and clean. I get black bean clams every time and sometimes they taste sandy but this time they were great. The lobster was so good albeit expensive but it's good for special occasions. I asked for fried tofu and no tendon in the beef noddle soup and a side of sweet and sour and they had no problems changing up and honoring my extra requests that were not options on the menu. My mother called to ask a question to help me out as I'm legally blind & she wanted to make sure my question was correctly answered. She put the call on speaker phone so I can also hear the answer. The lady who answered the phone was very rude & nasty for no justified reason. She said that we need to read the menu carefully. I DO NOT have to announce to everyone that i'm legally blink just to have my question answered w/o rude hateful attitude. I'm so sick of people being so lazy to do their job & give good customer service all around & not just because someone had to disclose their disability. There is NO reason to mistreat a customer whether they are in person or on the phone when they have not mistreated any employees. Regrettably, I experienced slippage; down from my prior enthusiastic praise. The crab rangoon was great this time -- twenty minutes later at home, the cheese filling was quite warm, the wrapper sweet and crunchy. We tried the five-spice beef appetizer but found it underseasoned with the meat slightly grizzly. The sweet/sour chicken was a disappointment, in large part my fault. Their menu neither describes ingredients nor provides pictures. I expected the dish to include pineapple and veggies. Instead, nothing but chicken cubes and out-of-the-bottle sweet sauce (IMO). It was on me to ask what was included before I ordered it sight unseen. At least they provided white rice and a fortune cookie in the $14 dinner entree. They remain on the short list and deserve a follow-up chance, of course. read more

Wow, first time visiting on Friday 2/9/24 about 7pm. Restaurant was about half full with 2 wait staff and at least 1 other helper. Placed my order fairly quickly and then waited.... 20...30...45 minutes and I still didn't have my food. Wait staff wasn't overly friendly and would be noticeably absent for many minutes - presumably so they didn't have to talk to the guests. There were several other tables who had not been served either who had gotten there before me. Not sure what was going on but it would have been nice to get a food update. This is probably the most genuinely authentic Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant I've found in Ohio. It's reminiscent of Cantonese restaurants in San Francisco's Chinatown. The dishes were excellent and the menu is huge. The atmosphere is pleasant and includes several large tables with lazy Susans for authentic family style meals. The service was excellent as well. Ordered the short rib clay pot and very disappointed. We waited over an hour and 40 minutes to get our food after we ordered. 2 other tables came in after us, ordered after us yet had their food ate it and paid 20 minutes before we got our food. We were a party of 6 people. The other two tables had 6 people total. Took 15 minutes to get water and she never came back to ask if we wanted more water or tea. I had to take the tea pot to the kitchen and get the teapot refilled. We ordered 2 hot teas and one pot was provided for us to share yet we were not offered refilled but were charged for two hot teas. Two people in our party had to leave before their food came. My short rib clay pot was 70 % inedible fat/gristle. The only vegetables in the dish was boc chocolate, a sprig of parsley and a thin yellow leaf with no flavor. When I showed the waitress the amount of fat she did not even apologize or try to make it right. Of course we were charged full price for the meal. When they brought out the dish I had to ask for rice since mine was forgotten. Again no apology. She only checked on us once when she was dropping off the bills. We had to pay at the front desk. Service was terrible. They were busy but there is no excuse for serving people out of the order their orders were entered and the times people were seated. Sadly due to the amount of inedible fat/gristle I need to go home and make food. Attached is the plate of fat/gristle in my meal. A reputable restaurant would have made it right or atleast provided a discount when informed about it. Needless to say we will not be back and do not recommend this place.
