A hidden gem in Dayton, of all places. I haven't had many Asian restaurants of any kind that tasted authentic in Dayton, but this is one of the few. The noodles are actually made in-house and have a lovely texture. I got the Classic Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup and was definitely not disappointed. The broth is light, but full of flavor at the same time. It is truly very comforting on a cold winter night. I think the beef slices on there are a bit tough, but it's not too big of an issue. The portion sizes are actually crazy. I got the regular size and could finish maybe just half to 2/3 of the noodles, along with a majority of the beef. I can't imagine how massive the large bowl would be... For health, I also ordered some stir-fried bok choy. This was stir fried well, but I'm not really sure what the flavor profile was supposed to be. Is it garlic? Is it spicy? I couldn't really place it. I have been a regular customer at Kungfu Noodle for a long time and, because of my work schedule, I eat here almost every day. Unfortunately, a recent experience has convinced me that I will not be returning. I placed an order and requested "no meat, more vegetables." I was told that the kitchen was unwilling to provide extra vegetables unless I paid an additional charge. What disappointed me most was not the charge itself, but the attitude behind it. It felt as though reasonable customer requests were viewed as an inconvenience rather than something to accommodate. This is also not the first time I have heard kitchen staff complaining about customer requests. In the past, I have overheard complaints about customers asking for less salt or making other simple modifications to their meals. As a long-time customer, it is extremely disappointing to hear staff openly express frustration toward paying customers for such basic requests. The attitude was unprofessional and unfriendly. After repeatedly hearing complaints from the kitchen about customer orders, it becomes difficult to feel confident about how special requests are handled behind the scenes. I have supported this restaurant for a long time, but this experience has left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. I hope management takes customer service more seriously and addresses these issues. read more

The dan dan hand pulled noodles are my favorite dish in all of Dayton, maybe of all time! The noodles are bouncy, fresh, and the perfect vehicle for that nutty, velvety sauce. The chili oil - out of this world! The crunch of the veggie in the noodles (they look like green beans but I think it's a type of small pepper) are my favorite bits. We placed an order to-go and walked around the market while it was prepared. We ordered dumplings, chicken fried rice, and chicken noodle stir fry. Lunch portions are around $10. The chicken fried rice was hearty, but a bit bland. I added a significant amount of sriracha to give it more flavor. My SO really enjoyed the chicken noodle stir fry. I didn't taste it, so I can't comment but she mentioned the sauce tasting really good. The dumplings weren't good at all. The dough was too soggy, essentially falling apart and the filling was too dry. We only tried one each and threw the rest out. Overall, our experience was hit and miss, hence 3 stars. The fried rice was amazing. My recommendations is to only eat that. The soups we had the wonton and the braze beef separately and they both tasted like water. This was not a one time only event. I have gone twice before this and the soup still tasted like water. I don't know where the seasoning went. The service was definitely a five star based on the fact that we arrived and was immediately greeted with a bright smile from our server Maria. The appetizers were served in less than 10 minutes. The entrees were brought out to us piping hot in less than 15 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered pan fried dumplings and steamed dumplings. The dumplings came with a soy and rice vinegar sauce homemade from scratch. We ordered the garlic bok choy which was super fresh and full of flavors. Highly recommended the bok choy. We ordered sides of the cucumbers and the pickled cabbage. The cucumbers were a good start to the meal. It was fresh and lightly season with spices. The pickled cabbage was aged well. It could have used a little more flavor. We also ordered Dan Dan Noodles definitely a bit on the spicy side but all the noodles were hand crafted or no artificial ingredients. Next up we ordered Chicken wonton soup and Braised beef noodle soup, and Braised Pork over rice with Bok Choy. The soups all had freshly made hand stretched noodles. The broths were all homemade and fresh tasting with the right amount of flavors. All the dishes were pretty amazing with the right amount of flavors and spices. The portions were a large amount and definitely worth sharing. The prices were absolutely reasonable and such a great deal compared to ordinary restaurants. I have been searching for an authentic Chinese handmade noodle place forever and now I found one even though it's 100 miles away from where I live. Unbelievable gourmet dishes that are authentic. The spiciness I requested had the perfect flavor. The wontons were light and pillowy and handmade with handmade ingredients. We asked for more information on how the noodles are hand stretch and the noodle chef gave us a personal demonstration that we videotaped and attached to this review. The restaurant is relatively small and so we were lucky we got there in time to beat the lunch rush as it got busier with time. I like that they offer chili sauce with the noodles so you can dictate your own spice level. The place has an authentic feel and they're so fast with the service. Usually the Chinese fried donuts are delicious but the last time, they were cold. I would not recommend ordering them ahead of time, even though I asked for them after the meal.
