Look, this is probably one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Is it totally authentic? No. But, for this style of Chinese it's really good. We ordered take out twice recently because we're busy and it's close to where my son has practice these days. We went in to pick up and it is nice inside. I used the bathroom and it was clean, which I appreciate. Our last order was crab rangoon, siu mai, wonton soup, pepper steak with onions, shrimp with broccoli, general t's chicken and fresh garlic chicken. I'll start with the crab rangoon, it is a little sweeter than other places, but it also has more flavor since they actually use scallions in theirs. It was really good, although one of the kids didn't like the sweetness of it. The siu mai though? Everyone loved it and we will definitely order those again! The shrimp was perfectly cooked and plump, so good! The family fought over the leftover wonton soup, I ordered two quarts because there's never enough for our crew. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the fresh garlic chicken, it was a LOT of green peppers which isn't our favorite. We had some American Standbys- Cashew Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Pork Fried Rice,Shrimp w/ Garlic Sauce. Steamed Dumplings and Crab Rangoons. Came on Easter. Wanted a change of pace having hosted dinner yesterday. Place is very open with lots of tables. Due to the day, there very few customers. Singapore Mai Fun - wow, spicy and flavorful. Pad Thai chicken and shrimp - good flavor and texture. Basil beef -great spice and flavor. The green beans were a nice change. Stir fried rice; house - ok. No doubt I will be here again. Searching for something good after a visit to the AFM, I saw this relatively nearby. "Asian fusion" makes it sound pretty swanky, which it's not, but it's darn good Chinese with a few Thai options. It's pretty standard Americanized Chinese, nothing fancy. I wanted several things on the menu, but settled on my standard "new restaurant test" items: crab Rangoon and Mongolian beef. The Rangoons were okay- big, fresh, tasty, but mostly cheese and not much crab. The Mongolian beef was exactly what I want in that dish: tender beef, not overwhelmed by the sauce. Enhanced by green onions, and served on the crispy noodles and with a side of perfect white rice. The whole thing is a balance of flavors and textures, subtle, savory, not too salty, just perfect. Service was great, prices are good. The place is in an iffy strip mall, but inside it is nice enough, and if I lived nearby I would be back often. read more

This place is GREAT! I love it! There aren't a lot of restaurants in Dayton that serve any dim sum, but this place does! Well... they don't serve the whole dim sum menu. They only have shu mai here which is fine with me. It's my favorite dim sum dish anyway. And it wasn't bad either! Also, there aren't a lot of restaurants in Dayton that serve honey walnut shrimp, but Asia Gourmet does!! And it was pretty good too! We came here on a Saturday night for dinner and the restaurant wasn't too busy. It's a big place, so it could easily accommodate big groups. Some of their tables could easily fit 12 people. Anyway, we got there and were seated right away. We were brought the menus, and they brought us some complimentary deep fried wonton with a sweet dipping sauce. (Just the wonton, with no meat in it BTW). We ordered dim sum as our appetizer. For our meal, we ordered pork fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, and the triple delight. Both the Crispy Prawn with with Walnuts and the Triple Delight come with your choice of white rice or fried rice, but we didn't get it since we already had an order of the pork fried rice. The crispy prawn with walnuts was good. I liked that there wasn't too much breading coating the shrimp. And it's how you always get it when you order it at a Chinese restaurant. You also get a good amount. Not too much but enough. BTW, if you don't like mayo, don't order this plate. If you don't mind it, then you'll be fine with this plate. The Triple delight was good as well. It's called the triple delight because there are three types of meat in this dish, pork, chicken, and shrimp. The dish was a good sweet saucy dish. They have a warning that the dish is spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all. My only complaint is that the broccoli could have been cooked longer. It was super fresh so the broccoli was crunchy and hard. LOL. But that's just a minor thing. The fried rice was okay. It was good, but slightly dry. I'm not complaining though. I would order the fried rice here again. When we were finished eating, they brought over our bill along with a bowl of complimentary dessert. Don't get too excited. It wasn't ice cream or flan. LOL! It was just a few slices of pineapple. The ones you get in a can. That was nice of them to offer complimentary dessert too! If you're looking for your fortune cookie, don't worry, they have them at the counter. That's where I got mine. :) If you're not too hungry, this place also serves smoothies. There is plenty of parking, and it's right next door to Clancy's Tavern. (In case you're looking for it.) We decided tonight to try out this place since they were offering a 50% off grand opening special until February 21st. So glad we did! Since they were having the special my partner and I decided to order a few items to try them out. Ended up ordering the Crispy Calamari appetizer, the Shrimp Tom Yum Soup, The House Special Soup, 2 orders of the Shrimp and Steak, and some House Lo-Mein. We also shared appetizers with other members of our group which were Fried Dumplings and the Crab Rangoons. The Tom Yum Soup was amazing, and my partner enjoyed the House Special Soup, and said it was really good. The soups tasted like they were made fresh and had not been sitting in a pot for hours. The Crispy Calamari appetizer wasn't very large, and only had 6 rings, but they were tender and had a nice batter on them. The Dumplings and Crab Rangoons were the stars, as they were fairly stuffed with their respective meat and cheese. The Shrimp and Steak meal was delicious, as it one of their chef special gourmet items. The steak is cubed filet mignon, though, while well done, was very tasty. The amount of meat you get in their entrees is quite a bit, and there's a good balance of FRESH vegetables and not mostly onions or mushrooms like you find in other restaurants. Also their fried rice is addictive. It reminds of the fried rice I used to order at the Shades of Jade restaurant before they closed. I wonder if they have the same chef/owners. The plating is also very attractive, as they make little flowers out of various vegetables. At the end of the evening I was surprised that we didn't get fortune cookies, but a more traditional ornamentally sliced orange to cleanse our palates. The staff was very nice and answered all of our questions about the menu, since some people at our table were worried about food allergies. This is second time I visited this location, and the food was okay this time. I ordered the Twice cooked pork, which is suppose to be thicker slices of pork belly. However, I got what it appeared to be thin slices "bacon" looking meat.......I understand bacon is pork belly, but this is one of the Chinese traditional dish, I expect this to be made the way it should be. I had been wanting an excuse to try it and a friend and I adventured into this place for lunch. I had the General Tso's chicken and not sure what my friend had but he liked it so well he got a take out menu. I Think my Tso's was almost as good if not equal to my favorite place! I enjoy this spot just because it's kind of tucked away so it's generally quiet and the food is authentic. I've had the fried rice before which I enjoyed and the scallion pancake is also a great appetizer. Very nice and clean when your first walk in, I was not expecting this for the exterior of the restaurant and neighborhood. We were greeted promptly. Food was good. Chicken fried rice was not covered in soy or heavily spiced. Egg rolls have different spices than I am use to but still delicious. NYC Chinese food is hard to compete with so since moving to Dayton I've tried to find Chinese food that can compare and after trying several Chinese food restaurants in the Dayton area I'm SO glad I found Asia Gourmet. Every time we've dined in or done take out, the food has not disappointed and neither has the service. The restaurant is clean too.
