There was a time in my life that I went to Franks 2 or 3 times a week for breakfast, going to all the job sites needed to attend to. Candace was my fave, and we would banter back and forth, and she would always throw me another biscuit across the room. The food was and is always good and quick, the decor so familiar its like home, Candace left then came back. When Candace left I did not go as much, when I changed jobs it was off my radar. Now Candace is back it feels like time has not passed, I love the place. I will still not go as often because I am working on loosing a little weight, but I just can't keep from going back (it's like my happy place). read more

Everyone seems to love Frank's. I was invited as part of a group going to breakfast. Haven't been there in 40 years. Here is my opinion: Breakfast: Prepared Well,... can't fault much but it was hard to pay attention with all the noise and the close quarters (the place was packed). It was a Sunday morning. Ambiance: Crowded and we were at a corner table where our table was cockeyed in the corner and I had to move every time someone came by my seat on the way to the restroom. Great service, always on top of coffee refills, and friendly staff! It is always pretty busy here in the morning, so if you have to wait, know that it is worth it! Since it was only me, I opted for sitting at the counter. There is outdoor seating, too. The staff was very attentive and got me my cup of coffee and water pretty quickly. I watched as they made all the different orders, which is a nice way to see what to order next time. They offer classic breakfast dishes, like omelettes, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and sausage and bacon. The nice thing they offer is either hash browns or country potatoes. I never knew what to expect of Franks when my boyfriend first brought me here, but I like to think of this place as a hidden gem. The first time, I came in the evening when it's referred to as "Francisco's" and had their birria tacos which were phenomenal. The other times I've gone back, I've had their chorizo and eggs plate. I love their chorizo and the portion you're given is enough to leave you fully satisfied. The pricing is very reasonable and the place has a very "at home" feeling. I have to update my review on this now. After 3 less then good experiences. This place use to pride itself on being friendly, with good food and service but it has dropped down. I took a friend and both had left a lot to be desired. The hashbrowns where so thin and almost burnt. They should have some in the middle that are hot and soft. The eggs I got scrambled where a soft scramble, which is semi ok, but not what I ordered. Then, my guest got a biscuit and we saw them take it out a dry tray to microwave, no more fresh baked. After my meal, we talked and waited about 20 min after they took our plates to get the bill, it never came. I walked up to the cashier and she apologized and said, " yeah I have a lot of tickets, not sure why". Sad times. read more

This little hole in the wall is a Tucson treasure! So much so, that you should get there early and come hungry! The building, inside and out, looks pretty run down, but don't let that fool you! The food is amazing! I had the spinach, mushroom, and swiss omelet with hash browns and couldn't finish it, the servings are so big! I could tell the cooks used fresh ingredients! My brunch partner had the Denver omelet and the freshness goes for his meal too. The ingredients are cooked together so that the flavors blend wonderfully. On top of the great food, the atmosphere is just fun! There are quirky things on the wall. The staff is fairly attentive, you just have to keep in mind that the place is always packed! And the cooks are fast and entertaining! They started singing along with the music playing a couple of times, and it was great! I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Look. Even if the only table you can get is the one next to the bathroom, just take it. The food is so good you won't want to wait for another table. Frank's is the epitome of a classic cafe with great food. The food here is great and the service is on point. I recommend going for breakfast. You must understand, I workout. So whenever I go to Frank's I enter as a fairly fit young man, and I leave as a 7 month pregnant woman from all the great food. I shed a tear of happiness for my newly conceived food baby. Love Frank's! Every time I come to visit Arizona, this has always been a go-to breakfast/lunch place. They never fail to satisfy me with their great service and positive attitude. Word of advice, make sure to sit down either inside or under the patio because the heat sure is blistering... Although there was a shade above the patio, my back still ended up being exposed to the sun which made my experience a little uncomfortable. The food, however, was delicious. I ordered off the lunch specialties the chicken fried steak which included fresh mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, and a biscuit. The chicken fried steak had the best crunch and the gravy on top combined made it so rich. The potatoes were somewhat tangy and fiery coupled with the corn to add even more flavor. Friend introduced me to Frank's today. Along the line of Bobo's but I think Frank's has more seating. I ordered the blueberry pancakes which were good. My friend ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette which looked more like a frittata. That's what I will order next time. We sat outside under cloud cover which was nice. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars has to do with 'space'. The tables outside didn't comfortably hold our food and drinks - too small. The decor on the walls is a jumble of almost anything. No to people at your table will get the same type of coffee cup. That said, I love the place, the food is great and the portions are large. Love, love, love this place! Frank's by morning and Francisco's by night, this is a must go eatery. It is small, crowded, always busy and absolutely awesome. The staff is constantly moving and it is better if you know what you want because they are busy. Their front billboard says "fine dining elsewhere" . Frank's restaurant had been on my mind ever since I visited the restaurant roughly two weeks ago. I knew I had to go back for Eric's Burro as recommended by Sarah T. I stopped by around noon and the place was already dying down. The parking lot was not as full as my last visit and the lack of crowds allowed the waiters and cooks to enjoy their meals along with their blissful customers. Soon after our food was served, the conversation stopped and the joyfulness appeared on our faces. Eric's burro was just delicious and the portion was exceedingly satisfying. Frank's is a friendly restaurant that will always satisfy their customers with their delicious dishes, friendly service, reasonably prices and along with the down to earth environment. This place is good for what it is. They are very upfront about not being elegant and they deliver! :0) The portions are very generous and that is a plus. You will not leave hungry. The food is standard greasy spoon. One of the attractions for me is the lively staff. They are fun to watch, and certainly have their characters. I do like that they have the Yelp special. $1.75 all day, even weekends for the early bird! Also, I would suggest sitting at the counter if possible. If you like delicious breakfast, Frank's is a staple in Tucson. It's easy to forget when I don't drive by it often, but every time I do my first thought is "I really need to get back to Frank's." And every time I go, it's worth it. It can be a little tough to find parking because it's a popular joint and not the biggest, but if you can get it, it's wonderful and worth it. I have a hard time ordering anything aside from the huevos rancheros. I love huevos rancheros. But a problem I have with a lot of places is that they try to put some twist on it, fancy it up, come up with a new idea based on it. And if that's your style, that's great! But for me, when I'm ready for huevos rancheros I want good, old-fashioned, huevos rancheros. And that's exactly what Frank's serves Huevos Rancheros in the glory in which it is meant to be enjoyed on a weekend when you're splurging (calorie-wise, prices are great!). This local greasy spoon is popular because the parking lot was full on Sunday morning. Our server was so quick and efficient that I missed her name. Everybody knows everyone here. It is like a big family. They make awesome French toast at this place. It's top drawer, and their bacon is major league tasty. The pancakes are so huge they fill up a dinner plate. Frank's or Francisco's at night is a small local dinner. It's great for breakfast. I ordered frank's burro and added bacon. I recommend getting the home made red salsa instead of the bottled Pablano. I absolutely love Frank's. I've been here all of one time and I can safely say it's gonna be one of my morning staples when I'm in Tucson. Candace (who I thought was the boss by the way she interacted with all the customers) was easily one of the most endearing people I've ever met. Funny and sassy, she said she'd refill our coffee cups because "who knows if you'll come back here again". She CRACKED me up as I heard her speaking to other customers. It's easy to see why people keep coming back. It's one thing when the food is delicious, which it is, I promise. It's another when you love a place because you genuinely like the people who work there. I would easily recommend anyone to have a no frills, no fuss breakfast here. As they say on their sign out front, "elegant dining elsewhere". For the record, I ordered the corned beef hash and two eggs, which came with toast and hash browns. Me and a group of friends were extremely hung over visiting in Tucson and went to about three other breakfast places on a Sunday morning which were just completely packed. Frank's was our fourth and we got lucky! We were seated right away and the atmosphere has a really a fun vibe. The kitchen is completely open so you can see everyone cooking and the waiters and waitresses really just go your order across the room to the cook which makes for a very fun environment. The food was solid, just what we needed. Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, toast, French toast, and the green chili omelette were all ordered. My first impressions were this was a small and comfortable hole in the wall not too appealing if your looking for some extravagant 5 star breakfast joint but typically I'm not looking to spend $12.00 on breakfast anyway so this was perfect! The stuff that matters: The FOOD! I got the eric's burrito with sausage based on Sarah T's review, my wife got the chorizo and eggs which came with hash-browns and a flour tortilla and my kids got the pancakes The eric's burrito can come with bacon or sausage, it has eggs, beans, onion, green and red peppers and cheese wrapped in a fresh tortilla and it is delicious. One thing I wasn't too hot about was how the burrito was so wet but after a few bites it didn't matter because there's so much flavor. Definitely a burrito you need to eat with a fork. The chorizo and eggs were great they used a spicy chorizo which was different than what I am used too but it was a great change. The chunks of chorizo were small which was nice because it didn't overpower the flavor of the egg The hash browns were comparable to something you would get at an ihop or dennys but these had more of a light buttery flavor definitely richer than the usual. You could also tell they used fresh masa for the tortillas which was great. The pancakes which were ordered for my kids weren't even going to be included In my review because I didn't think they could be any better than any other pancake but I gotta say, wow I would eat these pancakes over ihops they absorb the syrup and butter very well and have an all around better flavor. Summary: Bottom line. It was great, this place will probably become one of our usual stop for sat or sun mornings. Good work frank. read more
