I love the Popcorn Chickun . The curry sauce really sets it off . The service is fast not a very long wait and you get a good serving .

So I was thinking about Chef Howard out of the blue while driving back from my place in Fernandina. I told myself I should shoot Howard a text to see if he was open. I did and he said he was. So I asked for the address and forwarded to my and said meet me here for dinner. She had just gotten off work and I knew she was close to the area, so we met there. As soon as you walk in the aroma of homemade comfort food comes over you. I absolutely love and adore Curries and so does my wife. We knew this was going to be delicious. We met Howard's wife at the counter with a big smile as she greeted us. She went over the specials and non alcoholic beverages. Huge selection of ethnic soft drinks from around the globe. I ordered the Chicken Wings, Green Curry with Cod, Kao Soi and the Fried Rice with Pickled Okra. There was allot of love put into every dish. Flavors were powerful yet subtle and balanced. Rice cooked perfect, portions spot on, temperatures just right. I personally didn't totally adore the Kao Soi. But then again training with Chef Bee down in Miami while creating the menu for Khong River House I was spoiled to some super traditional and authentic Chiang Mai cuisine. But all in all Chef Howard has created a concept where you're transported to ethnic regions from around the globe based on the Spice trade and delivers with focused passion and love in every aspect. This is a great place for good food and a cool vibe. With a collection of tribal and colorful masks dressing up the wall, to pretty tapestries, and interesting chair and table options this restaurants staff make it a relaxed spot to enjoy a meal. The bathroom is clean, and decently lit, the cook had great menu recommendations and with a choice of inside or outside seating you can enjoy the sunshine inside or outside. There is street parking in front and along the side of the building, and the location was easy to find as it is located right on the corner. Here's why 4* - good location - simple menu with protein options - minimal wait to order - good, fresh flavors 3* - prices are steep for the portions; I would not hesitate to pay those prices for a shareable portion of curry, but I hesitate for a single serving - only rice or noodle options--man a bread option would be awesome - wasn't asked about spice/heat level; mine turned out just fine but I'm also brown so my taste buds are biased... In my attempt to be objective, I just changed my rating to 4*. I have little doubt if you are in the mood for curry, this place will not leave you disappointed. Today I came in to pick up an order. While there, the someone in the kitchen was expressing an opinion at the top of his lungs. I'm glad he has opinions, but I'd rather not hear a blue streak on a politically charged subject being yelled from the kitchen while I wait. Some of the language was foul and offensive. It makes for an unpleasant atmosphere. If I'd had children with me, I'd have cancelled our order and walked out. Woo hoo to this place being open! I am so excited, as well as the rest of the neighborhood. The amount of flavors packed into this tiny little place is on point! There's a good selection of menu items while keeping it simple. Basically there's a curry section and literally and non curry section. It's closely connected to Indian food if anything, in my opinion. I have had a few different dishes as I've gone with other people. My favorites have been the curry noodles with chicken and the green curry with chicken. Every item is gluten free and every item can be modified to be vegan. It looks like they make all items from scratch. I do wish the green curry had a little bit more heat to it but there is a little station in the back to add heat yourself in different forms. This place is working toward being a neighborhood to go spot, which is understandable since it's kind of tiny. All dishes are served to you in to go form anyway. They have an interesting drink selection. First time I went I got a watermelon soda in a can. It was very sweet but good. They also give you a card whenever you order that has a character in it and that's how they call out your name. I was Bruce Lee. Wow. Marvelous food, unique drink options, and excellent services. I've had the jackfruit special, bahn mi, chickpea masala, and the samosas. All incredible, tasty curry goodness! They do not have your typical sodas, but international soda options, specialty water and teas. The service is always friendly and informative. Staff will recommend personal favorite meals and they never disappoint. The space is colorful, airy, and intimate. Small tables make it a perfect place for meeting a friend or two. We've been patiently waiting for Foo Dog to open for a couple of weeks and after trying a wide swath of the menu this evening, I'm on the fence. For starters, I really enjoyed the wings. They're salty with a nice hit of herbs and ginger. They're also pretty crunchy for takeout wings, which is always a challenge. They were off to a good start, but then the crab balls quickly turned this tasting party in the wrong direction. They were mushy, undercooked, and didn't have much flavor. If that wasn't enough, they're pricey for what you get. As for the mains, the house chicken curry is a knock-out. It's got this great underlying peanut flavor and an incredibly silky texture. I would order this every time. The same cannot be said for the curry noodles. This dish needs some serious work. The sauce was glue-y, it had very little chicken, and the noodles were overcooked. It needs more aggressive flavors and spice as well. In the middle was the chickpea and spinach over rice. This dish had great texture and flavor. I think I'd add pork next time, but it's perfectly passable. Overall, you have to take advantage of the condiment bar to tweak the flavors on the food (except the house curry). The kimchi and spicy garlic sauces are both fresh and pack strong flavors. I think we'll be back, but we're going to have to be careful of what we order. There's a lot of promise here, but they need to get things more consistent across the menu. read more

Vegans best friend. This has turned into my go to spot when I'm out and about. As a recently converted vegan, I found several items I could rate. The vegan Samosa's have a nice flavor and the sweet yellow paste that comes with it is devine. I had the veggie noodles which were good. The vegan spring rolls are very fresh but the wrapper was just a bit too sticky. They give you two and mines seemed to stick together. However, once I separated them without tearing the wrapper, they were delicious . With some of the sauces, the flavors couldn't be beat I also have the curry noodle which was tasty and fresh. The curry wasn't overpowering at all. This is definitely a great go to spot for vegans. I've been back twice now and the food was still very good. I had the ginger and mushroom noodles on my most recent visit and I think it is my new favorite. Definitely try this place out. The seating is a bit limited and finding parking can be a hassle in the evening, but it's definitely worth it read more

I made my first visit to Foo Dog today, and wasn't disappointed. The space is pretty nice, although small, and parking is always an annoying issue on that block during busy times. It is where the old Tres Leches used to be and is a great spot for a quick lunch. We got takeout and decided to try a few things to get a feel for the menu. We tried the house special chicken curry, spam fried rice, and zucchini fritters. The fritters were probably a little better super hot right out of the fryer, but were still good. The basil mayo sauce it comes with was also great. I knocked off one star for these. I was a little annoyed that they charged us $1.50 for an extra side of sauce. I feel like that is WAY overpriced for the little plastic container given, and it's just basil mayo for goodness sake. Sure, charge $0.25 or something. But to me, is way too much and kind of rubs me the wrong way. This is not a super cheap place like McDonalds, and I am not a fan of restaurants doing this. Okay my rant about that is over. :) The curry & spam fried rice were awesome!! I love spam fried rice anyway, so that was my favorite, but the curry is a close second. The flavors were on point and the curry sauce had a great texture too. There was a lot of dimension to the dishes. Portions were not too small and we were stuffed by the end. So we walked over to the Foo Dog on Wednesday for the first time...My better half loves curry - me, not so much (unless it's Tim Curry). The sweet girl at the counter took our order - I started with the Ginger-Basil Chicken Wings which were AMAZING- they were crispy and full of flavor! Loved every bit of them! I then had the Wild Ginger Mushroom Noodles - I ordered it with pork but ended up with chicken - and Alex had the House Special Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice, which he said was excellent. When all was said and done, it was a nice meal, although my order wasn't right. The other issue is the counter service to pick up your food - it's a relatively small space, and although there were several employees just standing around, you had to go pick up your food - no big deal but would be nice to have your food brought to your table! read more

If you haven't experienced Foo Dog, you aren't alone. The place is relatively new but is one of my favorite places to get delicious Spicy food. The deliver! It's a bit expensive, but the ingredients are top notch and they are very vegan/vegetarian friendly. If the prices dropped by 15-20% we would eat there more often and gain a bunch of weight! This is my second time going here and honestly their food is sooo good! I went here on Wednesday and I got the Chickpea Spinach Marsala and my date got the Lime Curry with Tofu. The curry was so creamy and Tofu was cooked really well. My dish was super flavorful, good amount of chick peas and spices! Pair it with kimchi spice paste they have on the side and *chef's kiss*. I like how this place is gluten friendly and probably great for vegetarians too! I love how sturdy and convenient their cardboard boxes for your meals are. Nothing seeps out on the bottom and it's an easy open and close on the top! I love how this place caters to many different Asian cuisines! I decided to update my review due to some recent - "just ok" visits. This place needs better quality control. Sometimes, it's absolutely on point while others leave much to be desired for the exact same dishes. Yesterday I was craving veggie vindaloo. This was the first time cabbage and zucchini was in the veggie mix with limited carrots and potatoes. I love cabbage, but it was the tough outer leaves, cut in long strips, and it just seemed out of place. I've had the house curry where it was absolutely amazing and other times when it just fell flat. When I asked if someone else was cooking, I was told it was the same. Off days perhaps? I do like the addition of Jack Fruit entrees. Keep the new things coming while working on the consistency of the base menu. I will go back perhaps, but Foo Dog is now out of my regular rotation. read more

First, I am so glad this place exists locally. Especially since there aren't very nearby Indian restaurants. The lion city is AMAZING. It's hard to beat. I just tried the kimchi noodles with tofu. It was good, but the ratio of sauce, veggies, and tofu wasn't enough to the amount of noodles. The noodles were a bit dry, but still enjoyable. I wanted to try something different, and my wife wanted to try something safe. I prevailed and we checked out the eclectic curry shop in the old Tres Leches space. I was surprised by the counter service, but I was astonished at the food. We had the crab balls. The texture was perfect, tender on the outside with a thin, crispy crust. I'm still mourning that we already ate them all. She had the butter chicken curry over rice instead of fries. I had the lime curry. There was a lot of cilantro on it, and I'm not a huge cilantro fan, but the curry was so bright and citrusy that the earthy cilantro flavor balanced it perfectly. One of our new favorites. read more

I am a lover of all things curry. I live in what is informally known as "Little India" (aka Baymeadows/SS area of town) and my brother lives in Riverside. Super stoked to see this place as a "Top Restaurant to try in Riverside." Naturally, being a lover of curry, I had to try it out. Samosas - little balls? I'm unsure of what I ate. It had a light crips but seriously in no way resembles the real Indian deal. Calamari - holy cannoli salt! I could have done without anything added. Wonderfully crisp but man oh man the salt. Did not get wedding bands on he next morning (and I'm by no means obese). I had the house curry special - added meat. Where was the meat? I think there were more potatoes. Kick heat-wise was the best (brother had the beef red curry dish), but again what is with the salt? Unsure if using pastes but the salt is killer. My husband had the Buddha's Korma with chicken (again there was meat in there?) was the best - light on salt. Good coconut flavor. Vastly overpriced for what you get food-wise. Will definitely stick to where the Indians go for their food - India House, 5th Element, Maa, etc. Do yourselves a favor Riverside people and drive the 15 minutes to the Baymeadows/SS area and eat legit curry dishes. It isn't that far. Glad I tried it once. Won't be trying it twice just to be sure. read more
