Sometimes you just stumble into a place, because you're hungry and it's Close By, but it never turns out well. Except when it does. My son and I were headed out to another spot nearby, and when we got there, it was closed, so Julie's was very close by . And I can tell you we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Service was great, parking was easy, and the food was more fabulous than I expected. I mean, it was really really good.. The ambience is certainly in the deli space, and from the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside doesn't look like much either. But the food sets it apart. OK, I've talked about food, so I'm sure you wanna hear about it (if you're still reading): Tzatziki sauce - homemade made really well done. Fries - extra crispy with a hint of salt, and I'm not a big fry person, but I love these. Potato salad - delightful side, can't go wrong. Gyro Wrap - marinated lamb, so tender you can cut it with a fork, wrapped in a pita. Gyro Platter - the same as the sandwich, but with pita chips and may be a little more lamb. I really couldn't believe how tender the lamb was, and how well it was spiced. I think my son and I were both shocked at how good the food was. Now, don't go expecting some eyebrow food, this is a deli. There's burgers, they're sandwiches, but I would stick to the Middle Eastern food that they serve because I think they really do it well. . This is a little far for us to drive for lunch, but I can guarantee you we will be back at this spot . read more

I've been to this location a couple of times. The food here is always good. It's an excellent location small restaurant with great food choices as well. The service here is always good as well. I decided to go here for the first time in 2022. Parking is slightly difficult to find, being that it's a shared parking lot and they are only open for breakfast and lunch. The restrooms are clean, just slightly outdated. When I was here, I decided to order a lamb platter, and my roommate decided to order a falafel and hummus platter. Both dishes were excellent. The ambiance of this small restaurant is very good. I will be returning here soon. read more

Gawd, where can I get a good pita sammich delivered to me because I'm slammed at work and don't feel like leaving? I can't tell you how long it took me to decide what to eat and from where until I found Julie's Cafe on Postmates. I really had my heart set on a Camel Rider, but when I saw the Grilled Chicken Rider on Pita with Mushrooms under Julie's Specialties on the menu I quickly changed my mind. I ordered that and a side of fries, sat back and waited for the delivery. It took longer than it should've but I didn't question what happened with my order. It was all there, I got it, and I was hungry. It smelled wonderful. The greens (the lettuce and banana peppers) were used sparingly but that was ok, the provolone, chicken, and mushrooms were taking up most of the pita. I tried to take a bite of the entire pita and it quickly fell apart...and I was ok with that. The chicken and shrooms tasted fresh from the grill and not overly seasoned. The greens cooled off the grilled items and balanced out the flavors. The fries were of the crinkle-cut variety and were just ok. This was a good lunch and I was satisfied. read more

After dropping off my car for service at a car shop nearby, I decided to visit Julie's Café. It is a small mom and pop owned place. A nice brunch place serving American and Middle Eastern food. From the looks of the art decors and all, I guess the owners are from Jordan.   I took my time placing my order. While I waited, I noticed how much steady traffic of customers. Looks to be loyal customers. And these customers kept ordering the Chery Limeade, so why not. So I too jumped on the Cherry Limeade wagon. It was pretty good actually, just a little bit on the sweeter side.   I ordered the Two eggs with Bacon and opting for Hash Browns instead of Grits. Food was made rather quickly. Breakfast is disgusting. I don't know how you can make eggs tasty nasty but they did. I asked for cheese eggs but they either didn't understand the concept or didn't know how to cook the cheese with the eggs. They just placed the cheese on top. The Pancakes taste like some off brand batter from Walmart or save a lot. Also, very unprofessional. When I called they stated my food would be ready in 10mins. I got there 15 mins from when I called and they just started making my food. I had to a wait an additional 30 mins for my food. They also forgot to my 2 coffees. How this place got more then 1 stars is one of the mysteries in this world. read more

I haven't been to Julie's Café in years. I grew up in the Mandarin area so I used to stop in for lunch occasionally, but then I moved to another side of town so coming by for lunch just wasn't an option. Luckily I am back in the Mandarin area for work now so they will definitely be seeing my face more often. This morning I was in the mood to stop somewhere for a quick breakfast but not fast food and while I was searching my brain of stuff in the area I was coming up short until I suddenly remembered the cute like café that I hadn't seen in years. As soon as I walked in I was quickly reminded of why Julie's is so great. There is this warm and inviting feeling when you walk in the door. This family owned and operated café smelled like bacon and all the other breakfast foods that make your mouth water. For breakfast I had the 2 egg pita sandwich with tomato and swiss. It was delicious. I will definitely be back to Julie's café soon....their chicken salad pita is one of my favorites....and I urge others to stop in soon as well. read more

Julie's Cafe was a fab lunch find. Four of us were first-timers and we had no idea what to expect. The interior is large, and clean, with a bit of a random vibe - posters of Greece, Jordan, and the like. We all ordered the tabouli rider - fresh tabouli in a pita pocket, served with a slice of green pepper, a hot pepper, and lemon wedge. Yum! We ordered the hummus, which came in a small bowl w/ olive oil drizzled on top and two flat pita pieces, and I ordered the falafel with tahini sauce (mmm, drinkable!) to share. Everything was great. The owner heard it was our first visit and brought us each a baklava for dessert, on the house. It was delicious and crispy, crunchy and pistachio-y. My mom and I went to Julie's Cafe for lunch today after a customer in her office (the sister of the owner) told her she should check it out. When we walked up to the counter my mom mentioned that his sister had told us to check it out and we asked what he would recommend (the menu is huge). He told us the gyros are popular and cooked us up a fresh taste of the meat and tzatziki sauce (made in house). We both decided to go with the gyro combo with fries. He also insisted on some baklava on the house. You order at the counter and set down for it to be brought to you. The food came out pretty quickly and the serving size was that nice place in between "that's it?" and "oh my God, this is so much food, I'm gonna die." The gyro was nice and wrapped up to avoid mess and the fries were crinkle (my favorite!). The food was hot and clearly very fresh. I'm not a big baklava fan but this stuff was good. The staff was super friendly, the food was awesome (with so many options), the store itself was very clean and well kept (the decorations may be a little outdated but I think the Jaguar posters circa the late 90s, for example, are fun to see) and he price can't be beat (with a fountain drink mine was $7.98). The only negative thing I can think of is that it is close to the railroad tracks and we got stuck behind the train trying to get back to work (not their fault, just a pain). Great for lunch with a friend. The dining room is spacious and laid back. Family owned and operated. Very much a local spot (the decor is a blend of Jacksonville goodies and Middle Eastern memorabilia). Prices are very reasonable. The food, from what I can tell, is made fresh to order (fries are fried, gyro meat is peeled, salad is tossed, etc) - so be patient! Served relatively hot (important) and hits the spot nicely. Another person commented about the train - we were stuck from 12:58 - 1:09, not sure how long it was running before we got there. I have been going to this place a very long time and they have the best Steak in a Sack(SIAS) I have ever had, it's so much better than any other place by a big margin. I grew up in the restaurant business - my mom worked for a mom-and-pop as a cook - and Julie's is almost exactly how I remember the restaurant my mom worked at. Julie's is open for breakfast and lunch, and there is something on the menu for everyone. My first visit was for breakfast. I ordered the Julie's Omelet with hash browns. I couldn't finish the omelet - it was huge! It was stuffed with so much (this is a plus - I don't like my omelet to be just eggs). The hash browns were perfectly crispy. My husband killed his meal (two eggs with sausage, grits, and toast) and finished my breakfast. The food was delicious! The coffee was plentiful. The staff was super friendly, too. There are no frills here - just delicious food made by friendly people and you're supporting a local business. Can't get much better than that.
