We were in Mandarin recently so my wife suggested we check out The Cavern. They're at 9825 San Jose on the east side of the road in a shopping plaza. We'd been there more than a few times back when it was Jax Craft Beer but this was our first time since they changed to The Cavern. The first thing we noticed was the huge, cool bar that's been added. We started with the House Made Pretzel. The pretzel itself was great and the beer cheese with it was excellent! I ordered the Basan with a few minor modifications. I asked for it without pickles or hot mustard. Everything else worked together really well on a good ground chicken patty.. The candied jalapeños added an especially unique touch. My wife ordered the Brick Burger which is super unique (menu pics in the comments). Like me, she liked how everything worked together. She said she might ask for no mashed potatoes next time though. They weren't bad, she just thought the burger would be just as good without it. We had the pleasure of meeting some of our group members while we were there, which was awesome. We also got to meet the owner, Aaron as well. He's a super nice guy who seems to really care about what they're doing at The Cavern. One final note: they were doing something while we were there that seemed really cool. On Saturdays, they do a beer sharing event. In short, people can buy an extra beer from the cooler that gets shared with everyone in the place by way of small sample size glasses. That's a super cool idea I've never seen anywhere else and it makes for a really cool community vibe. This was our first time at The Cavern Pub but it won't be our last. The sign on the billboard just says Pub! It's in between H & R Block and Wing it This is actually my 2nd visit here. I just forgot to check in. Let me tell you this place is popular! The bar was pretty full when we arrived, so we took a seat on the couch for a second, before we decided to start browsing the beers in the frig and on the wall! Such an interesting place. I chose a beer to take home. Tyler the bartender introduced himself to me and we chatted a bit, and he took my order. Such a nice guy! The 1st time I ordered a Quad and the Gringo nachos. The bar was full, and people were shooting pool and playing darts. Tyler was the bartender again, and he remembered me. Then also the owner's son introduced himself to us. Such a good vibe here! I order a Quad, and it was on special for $4.99 a pint! Scored on that one! Also ordered the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries (I met to order the zucchini sticks) Next time! The Quad was great! I don't know why that grilled cheese was so freaking good! (it's just grilled cheese, right?) lol the sweet potato fries were also good but let me tell you about that made from scratch ranch dressing! Hidden valley ain't got nothing on this Ranch Dressing! It took those sweet potatoes fries to the next level They do run out of items, so make sure you have a 2nd option in mind! They also make from scratch, pretzels and perogies. Finally made it to The Cavern! I was not disappointed. Upon entry I was greeted by the awesome bartender Tyler. The tap list is 30 deep with so many interesting choices. I love a hazy IPA so "Visions" by Woven Water Brewing -Tampa. They also serve burgers, hot dogs, fresh pretzels. The conversation with Tyler was the best part of my day! This is one of our favorite little gems in Mandarin! Gail took over the business and is the absolute sweetest - she has done a lot and you can see a big difference in the atmosphere. There are 32 beers on tap, plus another beer cooler and your basic domestic options. This included NA and gluten free beers, ciders, and all types of sours and varieties. They've added some good food options (you have to try the burger) and really delicious hot pretzels. Saturdays and Sundays have a beer share event and you can bring food and snacks to share with everyone - it's a ton of fun and great to get to know people. We had a great experience at the Cavern. Everyone was very friendly, the drinks are very reasonably priced, and the food was delicious. We had a Hatch burger and Classic Chicken sandwich, and both meats were cooked perfectly. So juicy! We also tried a couple of beef pierogis, and OMGosh! Sooo good. They have a huge selection of beer, which I don't particularly enjoy other than Smithwicks, and they had it. I was shocked and very pleasantly surprised. We will most definitely be back! read more

We made it to The Cavern this week. The burger did not disappoint!!! It was delicious, fresh and flavorful!! The fries were on point!! and The brussel sprouts were a lovely side dish. My husband is a beer drinker but I am not. I do enjoy mead and cider. It's hard to find mead on tap locally so I was jazzed. We hosted our work holiday party at the Cavern this year, and it was amazing! Gail and Aarron were phenomenal- extremely friendly and accommodating. We were able to reserve the entire space because we had at least 25 people in attendance. The required minimum was not difficult to meet with food and drinks both going towards the minimum. Gail provided multiple food options for our guests (pot roast, baked ziti, and baked chicken) at a reasonable price, approximately $15-16 per person. There are 2 bar areas and some other small sitting areas around the place. There was a pool table, dartboards, and board games for guests to enjoy and be entertained. They have a very large selection of draft beer and seltzers and also have many options in can as well. It was definitely a great location and great experience for our group. You have a variety of 32 beers and ciders on tap, and they are all good. I recommend the #7 German Pilsner is you have been overseas and are familiar with Bitburger. I was recommended this place by the Yelp collection for food and drink flights. It used to be Jax Craft Beer, but they rebranded to The Cavern. I went in on a Sunday around 11 am. I ended up being the only customer in there, but I was able to meet Gina the owner and talk with her the whole time I was there. I chose a beer flight of Hofbrau Munchen Ludwig's Royal Treat, Humanity It's Always Summer in Florida, Royal Palm Pilsner, and Uncommon Path Safe Seas. The menu rotates, so these beers might not be there when you go. The uncommon Path was recommended to me by Gina, and it tasted delicious despite being a dark beer. I'm glad I was able to talk with her the whole time. She told me they've been around for six years, And about two years ago they Added breakfast, brunch, And food. She said that nights seem to be popular, with their events and activities. I saw they had games for adults and children, and the space was more a place to hang out than a bar for adults. She was friendly and helpful and a nice person to talk to. I am thoroughly impressed. The place has been upgraded since I visited last. Two bar areas, some tables and a sitting area to relax. Board games, a couple dart boards and TouchTunes to have some fun. But my favorite was the food and drinks. My tasty spike smoothie was made with the fruit available, blueberry and banana. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this Spiked smoothie. I chose to have mine spiked with a Fruit Punch Beatbox and it was amazing. Heathy enough drink and a bit of a buzz to boot. So good. Also ordered the grilled cheese on ciabatta bread with tomato and bacon. I loved the flavor. Then to top off my night had a Raspberry Cider. This may be a small Pub, but has enough to rave loudly about and come back time and again. I really recommend trying The Cavern, so many tap beers and canned libations to choose from, even non-alcoholic. Hubby and I wanted to meet up after work for happy hour. We decided on Jax Craft Beer. There's definitely a very chill, laidback vibe in here which I really enjoyed. The variety of beer on their menu is notable. I like that they have local beer from Jax as well as beer from other parts of the state and country. They do not serve food here, but they do host food trucks often on Friday or Saturday nights...on Sundays for brunch they had a free buffet from Metro diner that they ordered and served you as long as you were ordering drinks from them! The first time I came here, I was given a ticket for a free beer after running the Thanksgiving run. My friends and I got there fairly early but it filled up quickly. The ambiance was casual and decor was super cute (the best description I can give it). Hubs and I returned a couple of weeks later and it did not disappoint. We sat at the comfy lounge area, had a couple of craft beers, and played a few heated games of Uno and Forehead. Hubs had a good variety of IPAs from which to choose while I had a couple of nice coffee stouts. The owner was very knowledgeable about beer. There was a game on and people were friendly. It reminds me of Engine 15. I think it's the only craft beer place in Mandarin which is good. They had Sweet Baby Jesus which is a delicious peanut butter and chocolate porter from Maryland. What better of a place to have an Salty Crab Art Class with out very own Yelp Elite Artist Crystal? She chose a great place and space. We had a full class minus one person that was missing in action. We all got a complementary drink of our choice tonight before class started. The location is in the artery of Mandarin. The place has high ceilings, which I thought was cool. The female Bartender was very prompt and nice. She greeted us right away. I left her a tip and she, "thanked us". She came out to our art class and checked on us, as we were pretty tied up with painting our crabs. They do have gender neutral bathrooms(two)and they were very clean. If I lived in the area, I could see myself stopping in once in a while for a glass of wine. The people at the bar seemed okie regulars and they seemed to having a friendly and fun conversation.
