Pleasent interior
Robbie C.

Had a good experience recently at 2nd Bay Brewing. The brewery is located in the Shops of Bartram Walk in Fruit Cove. Parking at the shops can be a pain as it is very busy but there was additional parking behind the building. The taproom is cozy and clean and while there wasn't anything that stood out about the interior, it was pleasant. There are a few TVs with sports and a movie playing. It was a quiet night when I went but I was told that most other nights the brewery has events that keep the place a little busier. I had their hazy IPA Hazed and Confused and got their Oatmeal Stout to go in a crowler. I have the pub pass which allows for a free beer at a number of local breweries. I frequent many of the craft breweries in Jacksonville and have completed their Ale Trail a few times over and had never heard of 2nd Bay. I learned while I was there that 2nd Bay is actually just barely not in Duval and this is the reason for their absence from the book. The bar manager I talked to said she hoped to get 2nd Bay on the Ale Trail for next year which I hope happens as they are a worthy addition. Overall I think it's a solid brewery and if I lived in the area it would be a part of my regular rotation. The people were friendly and helpful. Beer was really good. The only drawbacks are the subdued environment (a positive for some), the lack of parking, and the cost of their crowlers ($12 for a 16oz I thought was very pricey). I look forward to returning for one of their nights when they have pairings or other activities.

PSA: THE FRONT DOOR GETS JAMMED! TRY TO PULL VERY HARD... OR TRY THE SLIDING GLASS DOOR ON THE SIDE!!! It's very rare that I'm in this area so I thought I would give this place a try. It was an early Saturday evening around 4pm. The brewery is located on a quite corner in a plaza with quite a few restaurants surrounding and nearby. The PSA comes because we initially tried the front door and couldn't get in so we were about to leave. Luckily, we tried again with the sliding door on the side and were able to get in. The bartender explained that the door gets stuck and she often times has to chase people down. The bartenders are very nice and the brewery itself is small but welcoming. They have a small selection of beer with some guest taps but at least a third of the brews were their own. We got a fight of beers to try and they were good and easy to drink but they weren't the most flavorful of their kind. The brewery is BRING YOUR OWN FOOD if you want. With all of the restaurants nearby, the brewery allows you to order from anywhere in the plaza area and the restaurants will deliver to the brewery complimentary. They even keep the menus of the restaurants behind the bar and will happily make recommendations. Honestly, I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you are in the area but I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to stop by.

This place is a gem! Great selection of beer and loved that they also serve seltzer & wine. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Added bonus was the location with plenty of after drinking places to eat. Highly recommend checking it out, owners were so nice!! Really like the Hazed & Confused, Boozy Tea Hibiscus and the Honey Bunny. Brewer makes some tasty options

My wife and I have been stopping by here since they first opened. The beers are tasty and they always have a good selection of their own brews and a few guest taps. They have multiple tv's playing lots of different shows and they will change a channel for you if they get that channel. The employees are always nice and courteous and are always willing to make a recommendation based on your beer likes. They don't serve food, but one of the restaurants that is in the same plaza will deliver it to you while you have your beer.

My husband and I were looking for something to occupy our Friday evening, so we decided to check out 2nd Bay Brewing. Both staff members were very kind and were knowledgeable about the beverage options. The atmosphere here is very relaxing and it is a great place to hang out and get away from home while sipping on some beer. Food is not served here (other than some bagged chips), but it is in a great location and walking distance to multiple restaurants. One thing that I witnessed here that I have never seen a brewery do is that they offer to-go drinks. Many breweries offer growlers, but this one will actually package cans and seal them so they don't go flat. Thanks for a great time, 2nd Bay Brewing!

Overall great place and unique to the area as usually if you want to go to a local brewery, you have to head downtown. This place is amazing! Great setup - couches, tables, indoor and outdoor seating, tv's, and a great beer selection including their own beers as well as a few guests beers/ciders on tap. You can order Moon Dog Pie next door and they will deliver. If you can't find parking out front, definitely check the back parking lot! There's plenty there! Go check it out and support local!

The Lucius Stout is the first stout I have looked forward to. Full of flavor. The Brewmaster did right.

Absolutely loved stopping by this place tonight!!! Bartender was super friendly and let us know that we could have a sample of whatever we liked! My husband ordered the hazy IPA which was DELICIOUS! I wasn't in the mood for beer so I got a glass of wine which was good and on tap so a nice temp. I love that they have joined up with moondog to offer food! Also note that the brewery is pet friendly!

Wow, what a great addition to the neighborhood! I was blown away but the ambiance, staff, and beer! My wife and I each had a flight to start and had 8 of their beers. Not one of them was bad! For those that follow me, I love good NE IPAs and this hazy IPA they have on draft is the best in Jax so far! If you want food, they have partnered with Moon Dog which is just a buying down. They deliver right to you! The staff was so friendly and helped with the recommendations for what to drink. The seating is both indoor and outdoors, and they have nice leather chairs and couches for comfort. I ended up with a full glass of the IPA at the end. Can't wait to get back there!

Stopped by 2nd Bay Brewing on a FL trip. A great selection of beers with creative names. I had the Haze of Thunder. It had a great aroma and smooth taste - no bitterness. The service was A+......friendly and informative. The location is convenient and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable! This will be one of my favorite breweries to revisit each trip to Fruit Cove! I left my mark on the wall with a contribution of a "Virginia is for Lovers " dollar! Plan a trip.... You will not be disappointed!

The bar was pretty full when we arrived, so we took a seat on the couch for a second, before we decided to start browsing the beers in the frig and on the wall! Such an interesting place. I chose a beer to take home. Tyler the bartender introduced himself to me and we chatted a bit, and he took my order. Such a nice guy! The 1st time I ordered a Quad and the Gringo nachos. The bar was full, and people were shooting pool and playing darts. Tyler was the bartender again, and he remembered me. Then also the owner's son introduced himself to us. Such a good vibe here! I order a Quad, and it was on special for $4.99 a pint! Scored on that one! Also ordered the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries (I met to order the zucchini sticks) Next time! The Quad was great! I don't know why that grilled cheese was so freaking good! (it's just grilled cheese, right?) lol the sweet potato fries were also good but let me tell you about that made from scratch ranch dressing! Hidden valley ain't got nothing on this Ranch Dressing! My friend ordered us the Pork Belly Kimchi Fries, I got us an order of the Cheese Curds, and for my entree I got an order of the Asian Sticky Wings. I probably would have never ordered the kimchi fries on my own. Sometimes kimchi can be fickle and really hit or miss. It was definitely a hit here. More on the sweet and tangy side but worked really well. Fries seasoned perfectly, and the pork belly cubed and cooked to perfection. Out of all of the times I've been to Wicked Barley, these fries have to be one of the best items I've had from there. Cheese curds were pretty basic. Tasted great, but nothing to write home about. If you like Cheese curds, you'll enjoy theirs. I originally had my eye on the jerk chicken wings and I was warned by the waitress and my friend that they are REALLY hot. Jerk chicken is generally one of those thats right on the borderline of too hot for me. To give you an idea, if you're familiar with Butthutt BBQ's jerk chicken, theirs is as far as I can go for spice level. So I switched it up to be safe, and I am glad I did. Sweet and sticky, these had really great flavor inside and out. Would definitely get these again in the future. Brought a couple home to the hubby and he seemed to enjoy them too, and he normally doesn't like, what he refers to as, "sweet meat". I had three different beers in my favorite tasting style, sour. I had the PB&J sour, the mango sour, and the orange cream sour. The orange cream was my favorite of the 3. We enjoyed the sounds of the band Splittone in the background and enjoyed the whole vibe of our meal. I'm hoping to visit again on a future weekend and possibly bringing one of my pups along with me since they are dog friendly.

Think bar snacks -- pre-packaged pretzels (we had the bacon-flavored ones, tasty but probably something you could grab at Publix). Would've loved some fresh food or food truck action. We came out specifically to support a local cat rescue event, which was awesome. Major props to the brewery for partnering with the volunteers and even offering to help promote adoption efforts to their regulars. You can tell they care about their community. There's also a side area with extra seating and a bunch of board games -- most are donated, some missing pieces, but still a fun, low-key vibe. Makes a nice third space to hang with friends and kill a few hours.

We visited during a slow time of the late afternoon and were greeted by the hostess who encouraged us to sit wherever we would like and either order through the web based app or at the counter. Overall, it felt like a very impersonal experience due to the ordering service. I mean, for a small business, wouldn't you want to try to establish relationships with clientele/share your story/garner some buy in? For my boomer-and -beyond crowd I could see the online ordering being an issue. Self service soft drinks, plates, utensils... Definitely go for the Sharon bites. Little sourdough bites with beer cheese and vodka sauce that were really good. Would make for a perfect snacking item when enjoying a few beers. We went for the hot honey pepperoni pizza. Big fan of Mike's Hot Honey and love it on pizza so we figured it's a shoe in. Not a very visually appearing pie, but got the job done. Ultimately, it's a brewery that happens to serve food.
