Checked out 2nd bay brewing for the 1st time tonight with the wife, it happened to be trivia night and we came in 2nd place! Service was good, beer selection was ok too. Atmosphere was pretty chill, not a lot of ppl when we first came in, by the end of trivia maybe 20 ppl. It was very lowkey which I appreciated. Definitely looking forward to more trivia nights as it was only an hr long. You can also bring your own foods, we got moonpie wings and zucchini fries to go. read more

Hubby and I are always on the lookout for a new brewery to try. We decided to do a little brewery hopping on Friday night and stopped at 2nd Bay Brewing. I ordered a flight and hubby ordered a couple pints while we hung out on one of the couches. We tried the following brews: A Knights Pale, Buzzing Bee, James Blonde, Scallywag, and Harry Porter. All were good. I especially enjoyed the Scallywag. The chill vibe at 2nd Bay was great. They had plenty of comfy couches and chairs around. Perfect spot to enjoy brews and conversation. The bartenders were friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Parking was convenient. read more

Had a good experience recently at 2nd Bay Brewing. The brewery is located in the Shops of Bartram Walk in Fruit Cove. Parking at the shops can be a pain as it is very busy but there was additional parking behind the building. The taproom is cozy and clean and while there wasn't anything that stood out about the interior, it was pleasant. There are a few TVs with sports and a movie playing. It was a quiet night when I went but I was told that most other nights the brewery has events that keep the place a little busier. I had their hazy IPA Hazed and Confused and got their Oatmeal Stout to go in a crowler. I have the pub pass which allows for a free beer at a number of local breweries. I frequent many of the craft breweries in Jacksonville and have completed their Ale Trail a few times over and had never heard of 2nd Bay. I learned while I was there that 2nd Bay is actually just barely not in Duval and this is the reason for their absence from the book. The bar manager I talked to said she hoped to get 2nd Bay on the Ale Trail for next year which I hope happens as they are a worthy addition. Overall I think it's a solid brewery and if I lived in the area it would be a part of my regular rotation. The people were friendly and helpful. Beer was really good. The only drawbacks are the subdued environment (a positive for some), the lack of parking, and the cost of their crowlers ($12 for a 16oz I thought was very pricey). I look forward to returning for one of their nights when they have pairings or other activities. read more

PSA: THE FRONT DOOR GETS JAMMED! TRY TO PULL VERY HARD... OR TRY THE SLIDING GLASS DOOR ON THE SIDE!!! It's very rare that I'm in this area so I thought I would give this place a try. It was an early Saturday evening around 4pm. The brewery is located on a quite corner in a plaza with quite a few restaurants surrounding and nearby. The PSA comes because we initially tried the front door and couldn't get in so we were about to leave. Luckily, we tried again with the sliding door on the side and were able to get in. The bartender explained that the door gets stuck and she often times has to chase people down. The bartenders are very nice and the brewery itself is small but welcoming. They have a small selection of beer with some guest taps but at least a third of the brews were their own. We got a fight of beers to try and they were good and easy to drink but they weren't the most flavorful of their kind. The brewery is BRING YOUR OWN FOOD if you want. With all of the restaurants nearby, the brewery allows you to order from anywhere in the plaza area and the restaurants will deliver to the brewery complimentary. They even keep the menus of the restaurants behind the bar and will happily make recommendations. Honestly, I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you are in the area but I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to stop by. read more

My wife and I have been stopping by here since they first opened. The beers are tasty and they always have a good selection of their own brews and a few guest taps. They have multiple tv's playing lots of different shows and they will change a channel for you if they get that channel. The employees are always nice and courteous and are always willing to make a recommendation based on your beer likes. They don't serve food, but one of the restaurants that is in the same plaza will deliver it to you while you have your beer. read more

My husband and I were looking for something to occupy our Friday evening, so we decided to check out 2nd Bay Brewing. Both staff members were very kind and were knowledgeable about the beverage options. The atmosphere here is very relaxing and it is a great place to hang out and get away from home while sipping on some beer. Food is not served here (other than some bagged chips), but it is in a great location and walking distance to multiple restaurants. One thing that I witnessed here that I have never seen a brewery do is that they offer to-go drinks. Overall great place and unique to the area as usually if you want to go to a local brewery, you have to head downtown. This place is amazing! Great setup - couches, tables, indoor and outdoor seating, tv's, and a great beer selection including their own beers as well as a few guests beers/ciders on tap. You can order Moon Dog Pie next door and they will deliver. If you can't find parking out front, definitely check the back parking lot! There's plenty there! 2nd Bay is starting to come out of their shell. There's no food but you can bring your own. Their beers are pretty tasty. I think their darker beers are better than their lighter options but that's me. Ambiance is a typical, nicer brewery with decent seating. With the other nighttime options close by, parking can be a little tricky at peak times. Service is great. I think the new bar manager is really making a difference. read more

Wow, what a great addition to the neighborhood! I was blown away but the ambiance, staff, and beer! My wife and I each had a flight to start and had 8 of their beers. Not one of them was bad! For those that follow me, I love good NE IPAs and this hazy IPA they have on draft is the best in Jax so far! If you want food, they have partnered with Moon Dog which is just a buying down. They deliver right to you! The staff was so friendly and helped with the recommendations for what to drink. The seating is both indoor and outdoors, and they have nice leather chairs and couches for comfort. I ended up with a full glass of the IPA at the end. Can't wait to get back there! read more

What a great brewery. The staff there are an amazing family and they make you feel welcome. All of the people and dogs that abide here are splendid. This is a great spot to watch a game or link up with people. BEER! The beer is brewed on site and is top notch. The porters and stouts are solid and opaque and crammed with rich flavor. The other more social beers are sharp tart and popping. Wine, N/A drinks, and wine can also be had. Try the flight to get a few sips and find what you dig. Stopped by 2nd Bay Brewing on a FL trip. A great selection of beers with creative names. I had the Haze of Thunder. It had a great aroma and smooth taste - no bitterness. The service was A+......friendly and informative. The location is convenient and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable! This will be one of my favorite breweries to revisit each trip to Fruit Cove! If you want a brewery that isn't in an industrial area, this is the place. I was finishing up with hiking and wanted to talk about it with friends over a beer. 2nd Bay was nearby. I enjoyed the atmosphere, high ceilings and plenty of seating options, it probably helped that I went when there were not many people there. I sat in a comfortable chair and enjoyed my pale ale selection. If you want food, 2nd Bay is located in a shopping center with plenty of restaurants. Overall, a solid place to grab a beer. read more

We went here after some pizzas at Moon Dog and just wanted to check it out since it's new. The atmosphere is very boring. There's a good amount of TVs but no music and the seating is just very odd. My friend described it perfectly when he said it felt like we were waiting at an airport. The staff wasn't really friendly either. Kind of smug to be honest. There's about a selection of 10 beers and they have a fridge with few alternatives to beer. I don't see a need for a place like this and don't see it lasting that long. There's plenty of better options within walking distance with cheaper drinks and a better atmosphere. read more

2nd Bay is such a welcome addition to julington creek. The owners and staff are so friendly and ready to help and the beer is great. Their beers typically have a movie theme so it's fun to find out where they came from. My favorite is the James Blonde or the Pepper Brooks, both great characters. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. Couches, some of them made by the owner who repurposes bed frames and other items to make them, fill the area. My favorite part is that they are dog friendly in an area where not many places are. This is a great place to bring a friend, or a pup, to have a drink. read more

Came here after checking out popcorn box and it's a laid back little pub/ brewery with a decent little variety of beers and a nice calm vibe you can also order moon dog and have them bring your order over which is even better since we love moon dog... only wish they had a better cider on tap instead of angry orchard get a little more creative like a ace pineapple or MacKenzies black cherry or at least a craft cider but I have to say the sours they have on tap are definitely a good pick read more
