I've been eating at Clara's Tidbits for I guess 10-15 years at both San Marco and Baymeadows locations and it's always consistently delicious. Famous for the chicken salad and potato salad, both of which are fantastic, they also have amazing chicken and sausage gumbo and roast beef po boys which are as good as any you can get in the French quarter NOLA . Everything is made using quality ingredients and delicious We usually get lunch and dinner in same visit, buying a sandwich and a quart of gumbo, a definite win-win. The service is always great, the employees are very busy but friendly and attentive to customers. Both locations are clean, bright and busy, fantastic quality food. I highly recommend. read more

I'm surprised that this turned out to be a very good lunch. I ordered a 1/2 Daily Special in my favorite delivery app which is a 1/2 Sandwich, side, soup, and a drink for a very reasonable price. The sando was BYO so I added Marble Rye Bread, Virginia Ham, Provolone Cheese (both meat and cheese heated so that the cheese is nice and melty over the ham) but then through in Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo, and Black Olives for good measure with a pickle spear. I chose the Broccoli and Cheese for my soup and thank goodness they wrapped it in plastic wrap to prevent spilling. This was tasty and just the right size. For the side I got Miss Vickie's Dill Pickle Chips which I ended up giving away because I was full. The drink was Sweet Tea which was fresh-brewed and delicious. When in the Jacksonville office for work, my office coordinator catered from this location to have a spread of sandwiches, wraps, potato salad, garden salad, pickles, sandwich condiments, crackers, and cookies. The potato salad was pretty good, but not my favorite. The salad came with lots of dressing choices, which was a nice touch. This felt like stepping thru a time machine but not in the awesome way you think lol. felt very olden. i suppose! felt like a very small town diner. again not in the awesome way you'd think LOL. but the gal at the counter was very sweet, she brought me my food when it was ready. very nice ! i showed up a bit late so i got my food to go. i originally made the visit because of some posts i saw mentioning their chicken salad but maybe i'm missing something. very bland chicken salad. IF i came back i would add more toppings. the veggies were very fresh and crisp! bread was kinda hard to chew. pickle was soggy and hard to bite thru the skin. i really liked the potato salad ! that was a great side. it just tastes to me kinda hospital food esque. i would consider trying other things but it probably won't happen. i'm happy with some yummy potato salad and kind service. but i am kept longing for some good chicken salad. read more

These pita sandwiches are the best! First time at this location- ordered from Mandarin dozens of times, always delicious, but today i knew i'd be on baymeadows so I gave this location a shot. Super easy to order online ahead of time. Love how customizable every sandwich is. Plenty of parking, easy lot to get in and out of. Staff was friendly and my veggie pita is so great! I wish I could give this a good review but the food definitely did not meet expectations at all. My mom ordered vegetable soup (which had zero liquid in it and was definitely not soup) which she did not eat and I got the bacon avocado pita with two small pieces of avocado. So disappointed in the service I received today at the Baymeadows location. I placed a large order last Thursday for pickup this morning (Tuesday) at 10:45 am. Order was not ready and didn't receive until 11:00. My office is close by, but this caused my lunch meeting to be late. The manager said they had another order they were preparing, and by the way, she said she wasn't there when it was being prepared. No apology. I got back to the office, and when I was setting up, there was only silverware and plates for 10 (my order was for 23 people), no napkins, only one spoon (we had 3 salads), teas were warm. As always, the food was delicious, but I won't be using them again for a while. If I had received some sort of apology, or felt like they were sorry, it would be different. read more

I don't understand all the good reviews. Pros: Food comes fast. Professional staff. Food looks good. No mistakes on order. An option to use kiosk for order. Receipt is legible and detailed. Place looks clean. Cons: the number one con is the taste, the food is bland. I don't recommend dining in, if you sit in the room to the left they have 2 doors where staff come in and out which is quite annoying. The sampler had bland chicken salad, 2 large tomato slices...who eats tomatoes like that on a salad? The tomatoes would be better diced. Two crunchy pieces (wannabe croutons???) and bland pasta salad. I also had the Reuben, it wasn't bad...but it wasn't that great, the Reuben at Arby's is better. They don't put enough sauerkraut on it nor sauce, the potato salad was bland as well. read more

It's been at least 10 years since I was last here. I live in OP but had a doc appointment nearby and my husband had never been. I've been craving the potato salad and chicken salad. I ordered the veggie with roast beef and Swiss added. I wanted a lot of veggies and figured this was easier than a laundry list of items added to a roast beef. In hindsight that would have maybe been cheaper as most veg are free and the roast beef was a 4.00 upcharge. No worries. My hubs got the triple meat. We both got potato salad and we ordered chicken salad to go and a Clara's seasoning shaker. Hubs loved his sandwich and potato salad but we both agreed his mothers potato salad is better. My roast beef was not a winner or loser but the roast beef had no flavor, I asked the hubs to confirm. For me onions make the sandwich. I was able to see a few flecks so flavor was lost there as well. Picked at sandwich. Gave leftovers to dogs. Took rest of pita and toppings home to use as base for a chicken salad sandwich. The pickle was way better than I remembered! I just think my tastes have changed. No fault of theirs, I think I've just outgrown them. I even have a chicken salad recipe I prefer. I've been getting the shrimp salad on a pita. It is amazing! The pita is stuffed so much with shrimps and eggs. Yes, I can eat it all by myself. It is that good! It comes with a side of pickle and I got a fruit along with it. I came in 10 minutes before closing and there were people still inside eating. The guy that was there saw me came in and said yall need to lock the doors people are coming in. First of all, I can hear you. second, I saw there were still people eating. This is one of the places that you might pass by a hundred times and never think twice about coming in. Well, that's exactly what I did ever since they opened up. It's usually me who recommends the places, but this time my friend said she was going and she told me how great she thought they were. I only ordered gumbo per her request but I cannot wait to go back and try their sandwiches and soup! The establishment was very open and clean and it was pretty packed with dine in and Togo orders (that's always a good sign). The gumbo was good and the smell was captivating, and I'm not really a gumbo person when it comes to actually ordering it at a restaurant. Finally made it to Clara's Tidbits and man was it delicious I built my own Spinach wrap with Turkey, bacon, LTPO, Banana peppers and mayonnaise. I chose the potato salad side as well as a bowl of the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. I washed it down with a delicious Cherry Limeade. The sandwich was hearty and delicious. I'm a big boy and still only ate half. While enjoying my lunch Denise who took my order came to check on me at least three times. She volunteered that it was the best place she'd worked at and that Clara the owner was the best boss she'd ever had. She said Clara offers her employees full benefits and 401k. As a business/restaurant owner I can tell you that is very impressive and very uncommon. Hats off to Clara and her team for getting it all right in a damn hard field/market. I have used them for MANY catering events over the past years and they always, always did an excellent job. I lived in Jax for over 40 years, so I have been a long time Tidbits fan. Clara's chicken salad is the BEST chicken salad I have found anywhere. I have lived in 4 different states since 1984, and I search in vain to find a chicken salad that even comes close to Clara's. I feel the same way about her potato salad...simply the best. I now live in North Carolina and do not get to Florida much anymore, but on a rare recent three day visit I went to Clara's two times!!!! On the first visit I had the chicken salad pita and potato salad. One the second visit I had the chicken salad on a bed of fresh greens LOADED with veggies.....carrots, cukes,green onions, peppers, tomato's, celery....etc. None of this came out of a bag folks, this is fresh salad the way it should be. If you are a first timer here, do NOT pass up trying the seasoning. When I went it was located near the drink station in small plastic cups. I dont know all that's in there, but it is awesome. I always buy some to bring home with me. For fresh, home made food in a clean, friendly atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating at this location, go to Clara's. There's still one downtown and another location in Mandarin I am told. It's the ONE place out of all the places in Jax that I head to when I am in town. read more

We stopped by here for lunch and ordered a Tidbits Reuben on Marbled Rye (grilled to perfection), and a Turkey Avocado Pita along with their signature house potato salad, and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. This was so fresh and delicious, yet filling to the point I had to box some up for later! There were a lot of carry out orders and you can order online for quick pickup which most people did. Those of us who ordered and dined in enjoyed a quiet, casual atmosphere with a SUPER friendly lady who constantly checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything and kept our table clear of used items and dishes. Ok. So my school, Arlington Middle, was selected as school of the month. Friday we received sandwiches from Clara's as part of the reward. I picked up my sandwich, cold slaw and cookie, and took it home. This morning I was making breakfast and remembered I had the sandwich, so I ate it a little while ago. It was so good. I think they gave us ham, roast beef, tuna, turkey and chicken salad. I just grabbed a ham, thinking I would eat it later. This sandwich was awesome! The cold slaw was perfect. Just the way I like it. The cookie was on point.....and this was after it sat in the fridge for two days. Bravo Clara's Tid Bits!!! Thanks for the food celebrating Arlington Middle School. Clara's has been so good since I've been working from home during Covid-19! My Husband makes a Clara's run almost twice a week! He loves the chicken salad and tuna salad and I like the Mediterranean veggie wrap. The portions are very large and we find we have enough to divide and eat for the next day. When I worked at Memorial Hospital, my boss ordered Tidbits for nearly every monthly meeting. Those were good times! Just about everything tastes fresh. Potato salad is bomb, any of their pitas are great (fave is the veggie avocado), and we loved their fruit salad! I would have never even heard of this place if it weren't for my boss. Stopped in for lunch today at Clara's Tidbits restaurant on Baymeadows just south of I 95. They are open pretty much at lunchtime. They have a really good sandwich and salad menu. Their prices are reasonable for what you get. The serving sizes are large. They have daily specials posted every day. This is my first time there and we really enjoyed it. They have lots of seating. The sandwiches were very well stuffed. We had delicious chicken salad. I highly recommend this. We also had potato salad which was very good. I tried the chicken sausage gumbo which was very good as well. Parking is easy out front. The place is very clean and comfortable including the restrooms. Lots of crackers available! I have always been a fan of Tidbits in the San Marco area, and finally got around to trying the Baymeadows location. It has been a while since I visited the other location, but I had to admire the options to order at Baymeadows. You can order ahead and pick up a quick lunch, or order from a kiosk in the restaurant or from the cashier. This ordering process makes the lunch line move much quicker. The employees greeted each customer with a smile and seemed genuinely happy to serve everyone. I immediately felt the same great southern hospitality at the bright new location. I love how the flavors at Tidbits are so dependable, with the best chicken salad and potato salad you can find anywhere. I saw the homemade pita chips and had to have them, and being indecisive about lunch I just went with the sampler. This lunch is big enough to share or make last a couple of days, with a scoop of tuna and chicken salad, plus potato salad, coleslaw and a tossed salad too. I had the house made ranch dressing and was extra impressed by this creamy addition. The pita chips are also included and are so flavorful they are good alone, but even better with the tuna or chicken topping them. With a different lunch special every day and so many great choices, I may just make this rediscovery my new regular spot for lunch in the area. read more

Two words - potato salad! Omg, something about it is just so amazing. It's like smashed potato salad. It's smooth versus chunky. I have never had anything like it before. I also love their chicken salad, which is what they are known for. You get so much food for the money.
