    Barr's big country breakfast
    Crystal O.

Tiny little hole in the wall with classic diner breakfast- just what I needed after a doctor appointment at the hospital. John and I split the Country plate- he really enjoyed the grits. Everything was great- with the exception of the sausage gravy, I need more than straight out of a can for sausage gravy. But- that is me being picky, it's one of my favorite comfort foods and I need it done right, lol. But- everything else was great. Eggs scrambled perfectly, bacon crispy, biscuit yummy! Decent cup of Joe too. Breakfast was order up fast too!

Undercooked super pink disgusting thick burgers

Greek Gyro plain no condiments. Thick Burger undercooked super pink inside both burgers. Also, they were very rude to customers both on the phone and in person. Does not take accountability for messing up order and not actually cooking the food. We spent almost $50 for our lunch just for my coworker to get called a liar about how her order was made. To my other coworker and I- burgers to be pinker than pesto bismol. We will NEVER eat this gross, undercooked food again. Especially with the rude people working there.

Rise and Shine Biscuit, eggs hard scrambled, grits with cheddar cheese & 2 sausage patties
    Alysha G.

I ordered the Rise and Shine for breakfast via DoorDash. The grits were my favorite. They were made right and had just enough cheddar cheese. I'm glad I didn't have to add any extra salt or pepper. I also got eggs hard scrambled with biscuit and sausage patties. You can definitely taste the biscuit is homemade and what surprised me was that is was cut in half and toasted. I never had a biscuit like that. Honestly I'm glad it came like that because I ended up making a sandwich with the biscuit, sausage and eggs. I can say the Rise and Shine is a good pick if you want a breakfast and have some left over or if you are sharing with someone. It was a good size portion of everything.

I was in the riverside area and decided to do a walk, since I had time I also explored thats when I ran into Barrs Street Eats. It's an all day breakfast and lunch restaurant set on the corner behind a hamburger joint. I ordered the breakfast bowl of grits, eggs, cheese and sausage because I love a breakfast bowl and I didn't have a lot of time. It's a small corner joint, an old fashioned southern restaurant with a small eat in area. Luckily I beat the crowd because they started showing up while I was eating! They seem to do a lot of takeouts and uber eats too. Did you notice the fork they gave me to eat my grits, no watered down grits here! I added salt and pepper and it was perfect. Based on the wall pics it's veteran owned too!

Pressed Cuban with a side of POTATO SALAD
    Patrick R.

It's for sure pure Cuban style. Very good taste and surprisingly I ordered it without mustard and it wasn't dry as I would think it would have been. Taste 9.5/10. Now the Potato salad was like cold mash potatoes it was Shocker it slapped my tongue very good in taste and texture. Very good must say 2nd best potato salad I've ever had. 10/10. Service was very knowledgeable on what they had and was good with recommendations. Background is a little noise but nothing overwhelming, had soft music playing.

The walls of this restaurant are filled with interesting photos and facts

Had breakfast today at Barrs Street, classic mom and pop restaurant had the deluxe grilled cheese and a egg bacon sandwich both of which were very tasty and service outstanding, very clean bathroom, a definite place for breakfast, if the quality of food is any indication that I had, I will definitely do lunch here

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered. Seating is cramped but most people eat and leave, although I did notice a couple lingered for 30 minutes, plus. This is not a cozy, lingering cafe. Kinda eat your stuff and get out LOL. I mean customers standing in every available space waiting for a seat, staring at tables isn't ideal. It took 5minutes for a table to open up and less than about 30 minutes for them to call our name. Everything was as ordered, but they forgot the Cajun ranch - that was easily rectified, and I was able to get a glass for ice water at the same time. I'm not a fan of Diet Pepsi but if I could have tried a cheer wine or orange crush or milk shake, I would've!
