We were in the area due to Ernie's eye surgery. So, we came here for breakfast this morning. The food was very good and fresh. The coffee was delicious too. On our way out Ernie bought a Reese's cookie and he bought me a brownie square. The brownie was not that good. We've not tried the cookie yet. They're next door to the doctors office and Carolina Burgers. Pros: Nice people running the place. Great food and prices. Cons: brownie was not that good. Tiny little hole in the wall with classic diner breakfast- just what I needed after a doctor appointment at the hospital. John and I split the Country plate- he really enjoyed the grits. Everything was great- with the exception of the sausage gravy, I need more than straight out of a can for sausage gravy. I ordered the Rise and Shine for breakfast via DoorDash. The grits were my favorite. They were made right and had just enough cheddar cheese. I'm glad I didn't have to add any extra salt or pepper. I also got eggs hard scrambled with biscuit and sausage patties. You can definitely taste the biscuit is homemade and what surprised me was that is was cut in half and toasted. It's for sure pure Cuban style. Very good taste and surprisingly I ordered it without mustard and it wasn't dry as I would think it would have been. Taste 9.5/10. Greek Gyro plain no condiments. Thick Burger undercooked super pink inside both burgers. Also, they were very rude to customers both on the phone and in person. Does not take accountability for messing up order and not actually cooking the food. We spent almost $50 for our lunch just for my coworker to get called a liar about how her order was made. I came here with my son after blood work at Baptist Downtown. It had been recommended on the Yelp collection for local diners. When we pulled up there was plenty of parking in the lot. We were able to walk in and look over the menu. The woman working the cash register was quiet but helpful. We ordered the breakfast plate with sausage links, scrambled eggs, toast, and home style potatoes. Plus a coffee, the total was around $16. She offered a high chair for my son and brought it to the table. She also recommended a different table so the sun wouldn't shine in my son's eyes. She brought our food out to us, and I poured coffee from the bar where the sodas and coffee were. She brought out extra silverware for us too. The food was hot and plated on a cute Thanksgiving paper plate. My son liked the eggs, toast, and potatoes. Everything was made to order and delicious. There were a few other customers in there with us, but most of the orders were takeout orders. They are open for breakfast and lunch, and the best time to come seemed to be around 9 am. read more

I was in the riverside area and decided to do a walk, since I had time I also explored thats when I ran into Barrs Street Eats. It's an all day breakfast and lunch restaurant set on the corner behind a hamburger joint. I ordered the breakfast bowl of grits, eggs, cheese and sausage because I love a breakfast bowl and I didn't have a lot of time. It's a small corner joint, an old fashioned southern restaurant with a small eat in area. Luckily I beat the crowd because they started showing up while I was eating! They seem to do a lot of takeouts and uber eats too. Did you notice the fork they gave me to eat my grits, no watered down grits here! I added salt and pepper and it was perfect. wont be back. ordered on door dash, it made me select my toppings for a gyro. I thought that was weird since it comes with those toppings. well when I got my order it was plain. I called and explqned what happened. the person on the line( couldn't tell if a man or women) was extremely rude. I asked how we can remedy this. they said haw someone come over and get the toppings. sonido over there and show the extremely rude lady the door dash page that had me select the toppings. she said that's a food dash problem not her's. I said you have a contract service with them and should make sure it's correct. door dash is doing a partial refund at least. my coworkers orders burgers and both of theirs were not cooked. pink all the way I. the middle. you guys shouldn't even be serving food but if you can't get the orders right on door and ash than discontinue the service. you don't treat customers that way. terrible. I have been here twice now in the past month and each time has been wonderful. I think is really a hidden gem. It's not a place that stands out from the outside, but it's well worth a visit. The staff has been friendly each time. One of the cooks (possibly a manager or owner from his demeanor) stops by each time to ensure that the food is to your liking! I love going to places where people take pride in their work. They serve mostly breakfast/lunch foods. I have enjoyed their french toast twice now. I wouldn't say it's the best french toast I've had in my life, as that would be disingenuous, but I will say it's reliable. I think that's a perfect word to describe this place. This isn't a place that you go to because social media told you it's the best food ever, this is a place that just FEELS right. The food is good and the ambiance is welcoming. I love this place. It's a small diner/dive place located near the hospital. It's a few blocks from where I live and hasn't really changed since I've lived in the neighborhood. I know, I know.... the tables aren't always as clean as I'd like and yes, it's taken some time to get the coffee replenished at times but you don't punish a diner for that; you simply understand they are super busy because of the high quality of food and you get a rag, wipe the table and gently remind them you are waiting for coffee. If you visit here enough you will see a lot of regulars. They serve such a good breakfast. It's like the way southern novels describe good home cooking. In addition to breakfast they have a fantastic lunch. Gyros and Burgers are great but their fries are the best in town. Ordered the club sandwich and fries from here for lunch today as I've never been here before. A coworker ordered earlier in the day and it smelled amazing. This club and fries was only $8.99 so so wasn't expecting much. Boy was I mistaken. I opened the box to find a huge sandwich, fries and a dipping sauce I'd never seen before. To say it was delicious is an understatement. The fries were so crispy, even after being placed in styrofoam while hot and the dipping sauce out of this world. I thought for sure I had done a review of this spot after my first visit, but I guess I did not! This place is special. The menu is great and the people are so thoughtful and kind. My daughter and I came here for the first time while my hubby was at St. Vincent's getting a treatment. We split a gyro and fries. Oh my goodness. Probably not the best gyro I've ever had, but very tasty and the fries were hot and crisp. They have this dipping sauce they give you for the fries that was out of this world good. I just couldn't stop eating it. Very small little spot with parking out front. There are several tables inside and they offer pick-up and delivery. While Mark was receiving chemo on a Tuesday, I did an order through Yelp and walked to pick it up. I choose the Turkey Reuben and Mark had the All Hens on Deck, which is a chicken breast with bacon and melted cheese on a croissant. Oh goodness, he ate every bite, and that's saying a lot since he doesn't eat so much these days. The Reuben was hot and fresh and very tasty. I love Reubens and this one was right up there with the rest. We got the house made chips and asked for the dipping sauce to go with. When the owner learned I was headed back to the hospital where my hubby was having chemo, she insisted that I take some crackers and a treat for him. She then walked me out front and was so kind in saying she would keep him in her thoughts and prayers. I was so touched. This is a great spot with good food and wonderful staff. The menu is a collection of breakfast and lunch items, along with daily specials. The last time I went by, specials were waffles (breakfast) and chicken Schwarma (lunch). Came in this morning and got a breakfast sandwich to go. Made to order, it was hot, fresh, and HUGE! The Hamlet sandwich was like an egg/ham/cheese/mushroom omelette on a toasted brioche bun. We recently became aware of this adorable little deli because my dad goes to chemo right down the street. It's a tiny place, not very big at all but has plenty of seating and a decent take out turnaround. They also do catering and they even make cakes! Our first trip here, I had a gyro which was amazing! It's hard to impress me with a gyro. Once you've been to Tarpon Springs, you get hyper critical of pitas that claim to be a gyro but this one was amazing! The meat was perfect and was actual gyro meat not just sliced beef. It was also made the way a gyro should be. The sauce was super tasty and very authentic. Then they have these seasoned fries that are super good too. We talked to the lady at the counter to find out that she was the owner and was also Greek so that explained a lot. She was so kind and helpful and when we were talking about needing food for my dad at chemo, she sent a cookie with him just because she wanted to. We have since been back several times and the food is always perfect. She remembered us even after one visit and always says a kind word of encouragement. The other recommendation I would have is the Reuben. The bread alone will bring tears to your eyes! It's probably my second favorite thing there after the gyro. This place is affordable and locally owned and a must stop in Riverside! read more

Was down the street waiting for my mother who had a medical appointment and had to leave home before 6am. So I thought I'd pop in next door and grab something quickly to eat and I'm glad I did. The staff is extremely friendly and it reminds me of a small town diner from where we used to live in Illinois. Lots of regulars having coffee and talking over their breakfast. I'm a person who likes all my food crispy or well done and I think this was literally the best eggs and bacon I've ever eaten. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and I spent less than $10. It came with choices such as home fries and toast. As I opened my food container I had the intent to pass over the home fries but thought well for the review I will try 1. My burger was run-down-your-arm juicy and flavorful loaded with toppings-cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle. The side of fries were well-seasoned, crisp outside, fluffy inside. The house sauce was the perfect creamy, spicy contrast to the fries. The owner took good care of us and made us feel welcome. Totally meh. Supposedly great pita-based sandwiches a la camel rider. Well, the bread was dry like day old store bought pita and I got Falefel which was clearly a mix. They didn't even a tahini-type sauce, instead offering up mayo. Additionally, the sides tasted like institutional Sysco stuff. Reading all the great reviews by my fellow Yelpers made me curious about Barr's Street Eats. So one day we dropped in for lunch. They have a small parking lot but we got there early so we were ok. Seems like there are lots of regulars that frequent this place. The restaurant is small so you may have to share a table with others. You place your order then you sit & they bring your order to you. On our first visit we ordered a Falafel Pita and a Rise and Shine Breakfast with 2 eggs breakfast meat and Home Fries. All sandwiches were under $9.00. The Pitas were $7.99 and for $1.00 more you can get a Medium Fountain drink. All sandwiches are served with homemade chips, fries or baked potato salad. The Home Fries with the Rise and Shine are to die for. Everything was delicious and fresh. The service was great and they try very hard to please their customers. I can't wait to be back to Barr Street Eats for another delicious lunch on a weekday as they're only open from 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday. read more
