Fantastic food at a fair price! I love middle eastern food and baba's makes it easy and accessible. It is incredibly convenient in the food court at the Avenues mall. I most recently went with my mom. She was craving a gyro and I love really anything middle eastern style. I settled on the rice with lamb and beef with sauces galore! My mom ordered the gyro and fries. I loved my food. The meat with super moist and flavorful and the sauces added such a great amount of additional flavor that complimented the meat and rice. My mom really enjoyed her gyro and fries. The service was great, the food was wonderful and the price fair. I would easily return!

Service was quick and kind, they offered samples which was awesome to help pick what we liked. Quick, efficient and so delicious. We have plenty of left overs too!!

Baba's Halal is located in the Avenue's Mall and is truly elevated mall lunch or dinner fare. The crew was friendly and eager to serve us, wanted me about the hot sauce (which was amazing), and cared deeply about getting our order perfect. The chicken, the lamb, the rice, the salad, the sauces...everything fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Great eatery at The Avenues and places like Baba's Halal are the reason why. I highly recommend you give them a try.

I'm currently watching my figure and needed something that was hearty but healthy - Baba's really hit the spot. I'm a first-timer but the staff was patient and gave recommendations for vegetarian options. The falafel was seasoned amazingly and made to order. They had a rice option which looked tempting but I did good and put everything over a fresh salad. Many people were in the line waiting to order and the staff did well accommodating and eagerly giving out samples. It's located in the food court but the food still tastes like it's made with care. The mall was extremely busy but they made my food in a timely fashion and were very pleasant. This is definitely a place I can see myself craving and coming back to the mall to visit. Overall the experience was great.

Yea this is really tasty stuff! I saw James had posted about this new place in the Avenues so when I was in the mall, i just had to pop on in! Walking up I wasn't sure what / how to order, but it's very simple...chicken, lamb or mixed plate, they all come with rice, salad, and white sauce on top...I went with the mixed to try both meats and they really load this thing up! Instead of gyro shaved lamb it's thick cubes of gyro meat and the chicken was marinated in like a spiced yogurt maybe, what it was, was delicious! Me and my daughter tore this thing up! lol! fresh, salty, and satisfying! I got the mint cilantro sauce on the side to try it, it was herby and tart, I preferred the white sauce which was light a light garlic sour cream sauce and happy I went with that. Great addition to the mall food court!

"What's the best thing you've eaten lately?" Chicken and rice with white sauce and spicy sauce. Located in The Avenues Mall food court you'll find Baba's Halal. This is arguably the best $10 lunch you're going to get in Jacksonville. Absolutely proper chicken and rice with a fantastic blend of spices. This place needs to be on your radar!

We tried this place for the first time in Avenues mall in Jax. If you have tried Halaal guys then you will like this place too. We tried their falafel gyro and chicken and lamb gyro. Each comes with fries on the side. The meat was well seasoned and tasted good. I liked the gyro. Next time I will try their platter and other sauces. We made everything spicy. Overall it was a great place to get a quick bite while shopping at the mall.

Would not normally head to a mall for food, but have been hearing so many good things about this food court place. The chicken platter with white sauce was yummy and I also grabbed a bite of my husband's combo platter with lamb. He added the spicy red sauce as well and enjoyed it. Everything was fresh and delicious.

The prices are very reasonable and with the platter you get SO MUCH food. The staff handled the line pretty quickly and were friendly. The decor and color is nice, makes them stand out a bit in the mall food court. I ordered the mix meat platter with the white sauce, and a side of pita bread. I ordered the mix as I wanted to try the chicken because it was sometime different. There was nice flavor to both the lamb and the chicken however I prefer the lamb. The mix of the fresh veggies, meat, and rice was the prefect combo! I think next time I will skip the pita even though is was delicious because I was stuffed but I didn't want to waste the food. I ordered the gyro sandwich with fries for my husband. I snuck a fry :) it was well seasoned. He said the gyro was a 7/10. I think on my next visit I will try the mint sauce.

I have tried halal food when we visited New York a few years ago and I'm so glad Baba's has the same concept. Their location is very convenient after some walking around the mall. We have been here a few times and have tried both the chicken and the lamb entrees and they are delicious. I just don't like the bright orange color of the chicken lol! But it's very tasty and they give a great amount of portion, so very filling! It also comes with a side of salad. They have a few options for the sauce and I would recommend the mint cilantro. This is definitely our top choice among the stalls at the food court.

I guess for mall food it's fine but i did have higher expectations after hearing all the raving reviews from everyone. The meat has a very good flavor it's seasoned so well ! But the platter is just very lacking. I didn't want to add too much more to the price so maybe that would've changed the experience but i'm at the mall ya know. Vegetables were just okay. I liked the flavor of the rice! Not much sauce and there's a upcharge for extra. I didn't bother. Good if that's what you're feeling like after a long day of shopping at the mall. Didn't live up to the expectations for me.

Legit drove to the avenues mall only for this lol and I was not disappointed. Such a great deal for so much freaking food!! The food is delicious and filled with flavor! The staff was super nice and was very helpful since it was my first time which i appreciated. So glad the mall is adding other types of food into the food court.

Ayesha F.

The customer service was fantastic! They let me sample the chicken and lamb before I made my order. The portions were generous, so I had leftovers for the next day. The meat and veggies were fresh, and everything was packaged well for the car ride home. The food was absolutely delicious, with great flavors, and served hot and fresh.

The goal is to try every item on their menu. It's Mediterranean (Turkish) cuisine folks, which I call "guilt free, healthy eats". What to try you may ask. If you are striving for that "Olive Garden Salad + Bread combo"... let me suggest Kofta's version which is the Coban Salad and Puffy Bread. They're not offered as an all you can eat combo, but it should keep you filled between the two. - Coban Salad (5/5): A must try, soooo delicious. Fresh ingredients. The dressing, I could drink them in shot glasses. - Puffy Bread (5/5): It's made to order. Comes out nice and hot and puffy. Plenty to share with others. - From the Grill menu. Kofta Plate, Chicken Shish, Adana Plate are all good choices (5/5) - Sandwiches/Wraps: Their Doner Wrap was just okay to me (4/5) Service (5/5): no complaints here Pricing (5/5): Best value when you eat during Lunch. But Dinner items are not too pricey. Lastly, Buffets are also offered...on Sundays I believe. I haven't tried it yet but it definitely gives me a great reason to come back to Kofta.

The menu was extensive, plus they sometimes have off menu specials like fish. We ordered the adana lamb and adana chicken, as well as the mixed appetizer plate and calamari. It was way too much food for two of us, but it was all delicious. The meat was a little bit salty, but it was balanced out by the rice and other vegetables on the plate. The mixed appetizers were delicious. I don't think I would order the calamari again. Overall, great Turkish cuisine, owned by Turkish couple who moved to the United States a few years ago.

I was pleased with the overall appearance of the dining area. It was intimate and felt romantic...at first. The place is nice but it doubles as a lounge after maybe 10pm or so. This made what started out as a romantic dinner, turn into a rush to get home. It became super crowded near where we were seated and the service became stretched. The food was good. There was complimentary bread that came with an olive oil dip reminiscent of Carabba's. For dinner I ordered tuna crudo, shrimp and lobster pappardelle , mushroom arancini, and brussel sprouts. I won't go as far to say that anything was mind blowing but the dishes tasted good. The pappardelle was the star it was balanced and loaded with fresh shrimp and lobster throughout. The mushroom dish was pretty much a risotto ball that was breaded and fried. The tuna crudo was okay, fresh but lacking acidity and umami. The brussel sprouts were charred nicely and came with a yogurt sauce. There was an array of dinks. Cocktails, wine, champagne service, and two bars to sit and have drinks or dinner. I ended up getting the Sirocco cocktail x2. The drink was made well and tasted good. I would definitely give Cataluna another shot, just not so close to party time. This place is great though if you like upscale lounge vibes with food. If you want to try something different for a late meal or hangout, make Cataluna a destination to try

I came in as a solo diner and was seated quickly, although my table was kind of nestled underneath the high outdoor bar. That meant hearing some of the bartender's phone conversations. I ordered a glass of Lebanese rose wine and liked it! But my meal wasn't impressive. The vegetarian grape leaves (one of my favorite dishes, generally) were OK, although several were split up on my plate (but hey, it happens). I thought the flavor was underwhelming; there was a lot of acidity but nothing else. I also ordered a side of "extra crispy seasoned potato fries" which just turned out to be generic crinkle fries with salt. Definitely wouldn't order those again. I thought maybe there would be some sort of twist on them? The big frustration was service. The restaurant was far from full when I went -- I counted maybe a dozen seated tables. After I finished eating, I spent more than 30 minutes trying to get my waiter's attention to get my check even as I sat with my plates pushed away, glasses empty, and credit card out. He walked by multiple times to wait on and check with other tables, and I saw at least five other employees working in the front of house and walking by me. Even when I got his attention for the check, it took quite a few minutes to get it, despite him walking out to other tables. (Although I will note he seemed busier than the other employees!) My check before tip came to $24, which felt on the pricey side for what I got. I hope I'm wrong, but I got the vibe that I wasn't exactly their favorite type of guest -- a solo diner who wasn't smoking hookah. (I noticed another solo non-smoker go similarly unnoticed by staff.) Maybe they heavily favor regulars, too. But they weren't at capacity, and I'd have gotten out quicker had I been able to pay. Maybe it was just an off night. But it's just not a great feeling to be ignored.

And yes, my wife really liked the hummus. I ordered the Shawarma Platter with Lamb for my entree. Normally I wait til the end of a review to shout a server but I'll throw that part in here. Not only was Victoria delightful but she REALLY saved me from mistakes I was going to make in picking sides. I was trying to go as plain as possible with my sides and she really steered my towards Baba Ganoush. Again, this was my first time ever trying it. Listen to Victoria. Order the things she tells you to order. It was great! The lamb itself was great but honestly, I expected it to be. I was more taken with the fact that everything worked together so well given I'd never tried a whole side dish before. On her own accord, my wife tried something entirely new to her as well. She ordered Musakhan Wraps. She loved how tangy the meat was even though she wasn't expecting it and she liked the texture a lot. The wrap dough was flaky and great. She got to pick one side so she chose more hummus because that's what brought us to the dance this evening. This was a GREAT first visit to Casbah. I totally get why we've heard such great things.
