Cava is a go to for me and I love the healthy option ! I will say the location of this cave is great because it's in the heart of riverside but it also means they get super busy . I went on 10/25 around 8pm and they were slammed with people in line but I will say they were getting people through decently fast . If you take anything from this, always get the pita chips with a salad! Pita was soft and messy (because I opened it for a pic) but SO good! Probably get the bowl next time. But the pita chips! Yummmm! Eat that with the bowl and you're golden! Would I come back? The vegetables are always too notch, the "mains" really good as well. Decent portions and you're actually eating clean for the most part. You can order one of their creations or create your own with a grains or salad base. We have eaten in before. Inside is a great soda and tea fountain, clean, industrial, relaxing and there is outdoor seating out back as well. Really good solid, clean food with a Mediterranean twist. I walked in to pick up an order and had a really disappointing experience with customer service. The employee making my bowl barely put any spinach in it, so I politely asked for a little more because the bowl was still nearly empty. Instead of responding professionally, she rolled her eyes, caught an attitude, and said "the fuck" under her breath. This unfortunately isn't the first bad experience I've had at this location. Multiple employees often seem irritated when customers ask simple questions or requests, and there's a lot of eye rolling and huffing/puffing from staff. I've tried to give this location grace before, but today pushed me to finally leave a review. Even management hasn't always come across as welcoming or helpful. On top of that, the food quality is inconsistent -- sometimes the meat is overcooked or undercooked, and the vegetables are cold or dry. I visit Cava infrequently, but every now and then, I get a craving. Since I never remember my previous orders, I usually go in with an open mind. This time, I was in the mood for lamb but wasn't sure about the spice level of the lamb meatballs. Thankfully, I was able to get a sample to test it out. To me, the spice level was mild (around a 1), but I didn't enjoy the taste of the meatballs, so I passed on them. Instead, I went with the spicy chicken and avocado pita--thinking the heat level would be similar to the lamb meatballs. I was wrong! The spicy chicken was on a level 9, and it was a bit too much for me. I struggled to finish it. Since I wasn't sure which sauce to pair with my pita, I got both the balsamic date vinaigrette and tzatziki on the side. The vinaigrette was light and sweet, which helped cool down the heat and make the pita more bearable. Overall, this wasn't one of the best pitas I've had from Cava. The spicy chicken was way too intense for me, and I wouldn't order it again. Next time, I'll probably stick to the grilled chicken. read more

I am so disappointed with an online order I placed on January 15, 2026. This was my first time ordering from Cava, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of what I expected. The order I received was not correct, and the items that did arrive were of very poor quality. The steak was hard, cold, and chewy, and the lamb was also cold and difficult to eat. My husband is a huge fan of Cava and he's been dreaming of it since he had it in California. So when he found out we had one here, he excitedly took me to the location in Riverside. He loved it so much that he came back the next day as well. Upon walking in, it was clean, bright, and lots of room for seating. I couldn't taste a hint of spice in the falafel. I couldn't taste any of the jalapenos in it at all. Regardless, it was decent. I wouldn't get it again as it was on the smaller side and didn't taste as fresh. Create your own bowl: 7.7/10 - I created my own bowl consisting of salad mix, spicy falafel as my protein, roasted veggies, tomato and cucumber mix, corn salsa?, pickled onions, harissa paste, hummus, and yogurt dill dressing. It was a lot of flavors going on but it was good! I thought it was delicious but wasn't a WOW factor for me. I would probably come back and try other combinations. I wasn't mind blown but the amount was good for the price. I enjoyed the harissa paste very much as it was a very nice, spicy kick and helped balanced the acidity of the bowl! Mexican diet cola: 9/10 - I loved this soft drink. Mexican cola is a bit more fizzy and spicier tasting in my opinion than the usual US cola. I enjoyed my drink so much that I had to get extra refills! The taste is very similar to US cola but it has more of a kick and a richer depth of flavor. Pita chips: 9/10 - I didn't try it but my husband and best friend enjoyed it every much. They were hot, crispy, and went well with the hummus. Overall, it's a solid place for some fresh bowls and there are plenty of options for the health conscious mind. Customer service was outstanding! It can be a bit pricey, but if you happen to have served in the military, let them know and see if they'll give you a mil. discount. My friend was with me last time did that and they took off a significant amount. Some good salad choices are things like the Hot Harissa Pita chips (they're pretty mild, really) or the regular ones, the lamb meatballs, the falafel, The red pepper hummus, the harissa sauce, The Harissa Honey Chicken (can you guess I like Harissa?), the Braised Lamb, the crazy feta, the pickled onions, and I could go on. The ambiance is descent, and we ate outside last time, this was the Riverside location. The Cucumber Mint Lime drink is nice, too. Overall, I like the food. My friend and I met here for lunch and wowza! What a great place. It was very crowded, but that gave us time to peruse the menu that is above the counter. I love that you can customize everything - base, dips, toppings, protein, sauce! I had a hard time choosing, but leaned toward a Greek flavor and loved every bite of it. The grilled chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The toppings were fresh and great tasting. Next time I'm opting for the pita versus the bowl only because I saw a few and they looked amazing. I love a good grilled pita. They have a great selection of beverages as well. I tried the Pineapple Apple Mint "ade". So refreshing. I saw on FB that they had a grand opening of their other location and Riverside was opening Friday. We love mediterranean food so thought we would check out this new place. We came in on Saturday for a late lunch and it was not that busy at all. Hopefully it is because they are new and not many ppl knew they were open yet. There are multiple options for bowls, wraps, etc with bases to pick from, sauces, proteins, toppings, etc. I was a little surprised that there are a lot of items that come with an up charge. Like you have 1 chicken option and its an upcharge? Maybe I missed the normal chicken, i dont know. I will say tho that what I got was very tasty and while the portion size is not huge it was enough for me to be filled up. At the drink station they have the pure sugar sodas, and a whole selection of favored tea and lemonade. Cava was highly recommended so I tried it myself and it is truly worth it. I was a fan of Zoe's Kitchen so I wanted to see what Cava was about. I had the green and grains bowl with super greens and basmati rice. You can add whatever toppings you'd like but I tried the harissa honey chicken with red pepper hummus, pickled onions, feta cheese, corn and lentils with garlic dressing on top. I don't want to mince words here - my life is better with Cava in it. My heart broke when Zoe's Kitchen closed, but Cava has really filled that void. If you've never been, it's basically Mediterranean Chipotle. You can create your masterpiece in either bowl or pita sandwich format. Then, you customize the meats, sauces, and toppings. Everything is fresh and very high-quality, even down to the dressings. The menu does have some "preset" options if you're not sure what to get. But don't worry, I haven't tasted a single custom combination that wasn't delicious. You pretty much can't go wrong. Be sure to pick up the pita chips and a side of crazy feta if you REALLY want your mind to be blown. The drinks are delicious too - real ingredients that don't make you feel yucky. One last +1 for Cava is that they use non-plastic containers for food. Even the forks are compostable!
