Don't cry for me - cola syrup $5 happy hour

Service, ambiance, good portion in relation to price, drinks, water refills, all around found nothing to complain about. Beautifully thought out place feels much larger inside than it seems outside.

Celebrated my husbands birthday! What a great experience! I made reservations for the bar. It was a little tight but enjoyable. Bar servers were fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. I had the sangria( happy hour special) and my husband had the neighborhood association made with bourbon. They were both very good. For starters we shared the whipped feta, hummus with sea salt bread and harissa bread. All were fabulous but the feta...OMG. It was amazing!!! For main course we shared the roasted chicken with couscous topped with onions. They also brought us a baked sweet potato. I don't remember the preparation but wow! So flavorful! My husband was also presented with a happy birthday postcard. Love the special extra touches! We will definitely visit again

Othello is an excellent choice for a higher end dinner. Serving Mediterranean food with influences from the Middle East to Spain, the food and drinks are excellent. I recommend ordering a lot of their smaller plates and sharing with your group, rather than getting an entree, because those are the best dishes. Must-orders are the bread (zaatar was our favorite), hummus, whipped feta, patatas bravas, and octopus (the navy beans are amazing). Caesar salad was great too. We did not like the scallop crudo. Drinks are delicious - I highly recommend their orange Lebanese wine. Service is excellent. Indoor ambiance is very cozy and modern - really well designed. While I love their outdoor space, the outdoor plastic furniture could use a replacement. If you live here you need to check this place out.

I was a magical night at Othello. We arrived early prior to our reservation time to take advantage of the happy hour. We were graciously accommodated at the bar in a cozy corner. We meet "Kaz" our wonderful server/bartender. Celebrating my friend Barbara's birthday prior to a concert at the Ritz. Our evening was slow and well paced as we dined on Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Whipped Feta and delish bread. My first drink was a spicy perfectly balanced "No Seeds No Stems" with green chile vodka. We then moved to wonderful wine. The vibe was fun. The restaurant beautiful. I can't wait to go back an explore more if the menu!

Branzino - A grilled fish fillet with a charred exterior is presented on a ceramic plate, accompanied by a lemon wedge, a dollop of white sauce, and a side salad consisting of red onions, cherry tomatoes, and mixed greens. The plate is set on a brown table with utensils and a glass nearby.

This place had been on our list to try for a while and we recently made it there. It's located on a corner in a residental neighborhood. Street parking wasn't an issue. Walking inside, I was surprised by how small it was. There were only a few tables but I noticed a nice patio with tables and chairs which was not in use. I tried of their mocktaiks, after learning that they won't modify any of their signature cocktails to omit the alcohol. At my server's suggestion, I ordered the "take in the sweetness", which was made with chamomile tea and tasted very florally. It was a bit strange and nothing I would order again. The food was fortunately better. We started with the fried smelt, baba ghanoush, and za'atar bread. This was followed by the seared octopus and batatas bravas. For the entrees, we split the roasted half chicken and butterflied branzino. The appetizers were all very good and the octopus was outstanding. It was well seasoned and the addition of the beans added a little more substance. The branzino had great taste and was cooked very well. The chicken was moist but it lacked seasoning, as did the accompanying couscous. I probably should've started this review with mentioning the baklava as that was my favorite dish that we tried. I am not a huge baklava fan but this one was so good that I could've eaten both pieces by myself. It was perfectly sweet and flaky and it didn't have a strong floral taate, which I appreciated. The menu is relatively small and we had an opportunity to try almost everything that wanted to except the lamb perhaps. So while this isn't a place I would be retrying to repeatedly, it was quite good.

4.5/5 Such a beautiful spot with a peaceful ambiance. Very creative menu with thoughtful food sourcing. The server was also so knowledgeable and accommodating.

One of my favorite spots in Jax. Super cozy vibes. Superb service. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and prepare amazing drinks. My favorite dish is the grilled octopus. Highly recommend making a reservation, which is also required for the bar section.

Loved our visit to Othello! It may look like we ordered a lot but it was the perfect amount! Favorite: sweet potato and chicken dish Skip: pickles (pickled vegis) Make a reservation as this place is somewhat small and was pretty packed. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Kids welcome however no room for them to run around. Full bar service! Service was great. Volume was fine- not too loud. Cute decor!

Stopped here while in the area for work. Absolutely loved it here! The ambiance is cute and welcoming. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! I tried the Mocktails. Zaatar pita and Branzino. Everything was super delicious. If I had to say one thing I wish they had a option of the branzino with just olives and capers or something vs the harissa but it was still good as is just a preference thing :) and the baklava was absolutely amazing .

Dips and bread - Multiple plates of Middle Eastern food are displayed on a table, featuring hummus topped with herbs and chickpeas, pita bread sprinkled with black sesame seeds, and falafel balls garnished with herbs and served with a sauce. The dishes are arranged closely, highlighting a shared meal setting.

What a gem! I can't believe we waited so long to try Othello! We reserved a bar seat as a last minute decision for a date night and it was perfect - the bartenders, servers, chefs, everyone were so warm and hospitable. We tried so many dishes, but my favorite by far was the lamb shank - cooked to perfection over the most amazing rice. High recommend all around - and we'll certainly be back!

Othello is this hidden gem sitting inside a historic residential area. Its cozy and warm vibe is very inviting, which goes along with the staff's friendly service. The food is meant to be shared, the patatas bravas are good for 2-3 people but no more; they were delicious and very savory. As for the whipped feta it great to be combined with the harissa bread, although to be honest you would need to bread orders to go through it. For main, the branzino was delicious and good of an enough portion that we didn't have space for dessert.

I was so excited to try the newest Greek food restaurant in Jacksonville. This is more a trendy take on Greek food, but still really good. The dips are amazing! The bread is amazing! The cocktails were fun. The wine seemed a bit too pricey in my opinion so I stuck with cocktails. As you would expect from a trendy restaurant, you have to pay for bread. I was not a big fan of the fried smelt. So much so that we didn't eat it. The server packed it up for us to take, which I thought was kind of funny.

baba ganoush, batatas bravas, lamb shank.

Our visit to Biscottis in Jacksonville's Avondale neighborhood managed to do both. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and seated immediately, and the atmosphere had a welcoming energy that made the restaurant feel like a true neighborhood gathering place. Susan ordered the Quiche Lorraine, and after the first bite we both knew it was something special. The crust was delicate and buttery while the filling was rich and perfectly balanced. It was so impressive that we awarded it our Culinary Duo Best of the Best dish recognition, which is something we reserve for truly standout dishes. Peter went in a different direction and ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes with house made white cheddar hash browns. The pancakes were flavorful and comforting, and the hash browns were crispy with bold cheddar flavor that made them impossible to stop eating. Another thing we appreciated was learning that Biscottis carries the Slow Food First Coast Snail of Approval, recognizing restaurants that support sustainable agriculture and local food traditions. The service throughout the visit was cheerful and attentive, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. If you enjoy restaurants that combine great brunch dishes, incredible desserts, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere, Biscottis is definitely worth visiting.

Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream for the birthday girl, it was extremely tasty! Thanks again to Evan for making our night! He was a fantastic waiter! The next morning, we had the sausage and scallion bun at home. I liked it, maybe more than the pork bun, and would get it again, though it had the advantage of being reheated at home in the microwave. My wife liked the dough, the hot dog less so (and I must admit the hot dog in the croissant we had a while ago at Cruffin & Tea was better). I'd get this again, though probably trying the regular hot dog bun instead of the scallion one next time. I'd asked the server if she could reheat our items when I bought them, but she said no, and didn't seem to understand English well. So far, I've preferred the savory things to the sweets here. Each item was $3-3.25, so a better value than the other bakeries I go to. I will return to this place periodically, but I still prefer places like Cruffin & Tea and Le Petit Paris, so I'm giving Mai Xiang Garden Bakery an average rating, 3 stars: pretty good, but not above average for a bakery, other than the good value.
