My husband and I went on a much needed date night tonight. I've always wanted to give BB's a try and finally convinced him! We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, they were phenomenal! Then we both decided on steak for dinner. I got the filet, and ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. My husband ordered the ribeye and his was medium, his was also spot on. Then of course, we had to get dessert. I got the German chocolate cake (this apparently isn't their normal one) and my husband got the dulce cheesecake. The waitress we had was great, and she recommended lots of tips and favorites to try. Had a fantastic double date tonight celebrating my girlfriend's birthday! We were greeted warmly and given a nice table in the dining room. Our waiter, Evan, was very proactive & offered suggestions with menu items. We started with some cocktails, the gentlemen with the cider beer & an old fashioned. I chose a glass of bubbly & the birthday girl had the fizz cocktail. It was incredible with a fresh blackberry puree. We started with the fried green tomatoes & the calamari, both were delicious! Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' The fries are very very good and so were the two slices of crispy bacon on my sandwich. My lunch sandwich was just okay and was pricier than necessary, cost didn't include fries either...those were an extra $3. Had a bit of an odd interaction with one of the employees where I personally felt like I was being cat-called but when I shot him a look, he pivoted to asking if I was interested in anything in the dessert case. To-go cashier was nice, I did ask him for ketchup and he mentioned the chef should've already put ketchup in the box...the chef did not. Wish some of the seasoning on the fries made it onto my $20 ancho "spice" turkey sandwich. 3 stars because the ciabatta bread, fries, and strips of bacon were good. I am so glad that BB's takes in walk ins. Their menu is clearly marked which items are gf. That is awesome to see, and something I found to be lacking in other Jacksonville restaurants. They had a fun happy hour menu too, with a good variety of cheaper drinks and food too. The steak frites were $10, but my heart was set on the gluten free calamari instead. My waitress was Sarah and even though BB's was quite busy, Sarah was fantastic at getting my orders in for gluten free calamari and gluten free white truffle pizza. I ordered a spicy margarita first before moving onto a Black Tie Fizz cocktail. Everything was delicious and I will definitely make a point to come back again if I find myself in Jacksonville again. The gluten free pizza reheated well in the microwave this AM too which is a win. The restaurant itself was really nicely done. The music playing was nice, but not overpowering conversation. I FINALLY came to BB's for brunch and loved every minute. What a cute spot, I don't know how I never made it before! First of all, they had popovers, which is one of my favorite things ever - and they were GOOD. I tried the big wedge salad and soup and it was excellent. The steak and eggs and special of the day omelette were also incredible. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, which is a big deal. I had a paper plane cocktail and it was *chefs kiss*. Wonderful Valentine's Day experience at BB's. We wanted to avoid the busy dinner rush, so we stop by for lunch. The appetizers looked so good that we just stuck with apps and dessert - the shrimp lollipops were excellent, and the duck wonton creatively prepared and quite flavorful. The stuffed mozzarella bruschetta was not one of my favorites, but it was still decent - the bruschetta was cooked more like a large soft pretzel. We finished it off with a shared serving of the caramel apple pie with ice cream... mmmm, Delicious. All in, pricing averaged about $50 per person. Service from Caitlin was good, nothing exceptional but overall efficient. Plenty of free parking, and an easy location to access right off the highway. And Jamie was the best server I have had in a really long time. She was attentive but not overbearing. Always around when we needed something. The ambiance was terrific but I think the tables were a little too close together.... The calamari was on point! So tender and juicy and the sauce was so so delicious, had a hint of curry. The shrimp and grits was orgasmic.... I usually love my grits with lots of cheese, but this dish came with a creamy tomato sauce on the outside that paired so perfectly with the grits it doesn't even need cheese! It also had a delicious tomato jam with it. Unfortunately this dish is only available on Wednesday The steak lunch was kinda chewy but good flavor. I came here with a food tour through Jax Tours. Our final stop and grand finale at BB's completely blew me away. We started with warm, perfect popovers and honey butter (honestly life-changing). A really lovely time at BB's with my girlfriends last week. The restaurant was nice and cozy, with plenty of room between parties and not too loud. Our server was prompt and checked on us frequently. I had the vodka arrabiatta with shrimp and scallops and could have licked the plate clean the sauce was so good, and the scallops were perfectly cooked. Lastly we got some cakes to go on my friend's recommendation and were given some HUGE slices that are sure to last me the next few days. The lighting makes it elegant and even though the restaurant was really crowded, we felt a bit of privacy at our table. Dinner comes with bread. Baked very well but it's a bit sweet. We had the calamari and mozzarella bruschetta for appetizers. Both were stellar. The calamari there has an Asian twist but is so good. Crispy, fresh, delicious. They never skimp on cheese when it's with any dish. My main was a special Asian Fish dish that our waitress recommended. It was excellent as well. For dessert, I had the carrot cake. Really large slice, elegant, moist, delicious. Just a great dinner experience at BBs. We'll be back. read more

I came in for brunch on a Sunday. I sat pretty quickly, as I was solo and the bar was fairly open. The bartender was really nice, despite being slammed. I appreciate him. I ordered the shrimp lollipops for my appetizer and the steak bistro sandwich as my entree. I had a couple of mimosas along the way. The shrimp lollipops were a fun concept, but they were pretty hard. Seemed like the were maybe overdone. And I don't know if the 4 little balls are worth $19. The steak sandwich was okay. Just very okay. Steak was a bit chewy, flavor wasn't anything excited. Way too much bread:meat ratio. It was decent, edible. The mimosas were fantastic! Probably the most solid part of the meal. Overall, I don't feel like the amount or the quality of the food were worth the $65. Was very busy for lunch, but we were sat right away and gave a table that made it easy for our stroller to get on and out and wasn't in the way. The peach dreaming drink was super tasty and refreshing- a bit over charged at $10 for a non- alcohol drink, but nonetheless delicious. The goat cheese salad was huge and very good. The homemade dressing was phenomenal and like nothing I've had previously- like a spicy honey mustard. My husband enjoyed the ribeye burger special. It was to come medium, but came out well done, but still good! The server was friendly, cleared our table as we went, and was timely. My husband saw this restaurant on a list of best restaurants in Jacksonville and decided to make a reservation for Valentines Day lunch. I am really glad he did because it was great. On the weekends they offer both their brunch and lunch menus. The brunch menu had your standard brunch and breakfast items. The lunch menu had appetizers, or as they call them, Little B's, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. We decided to go with three appetizers. First we had the shrimp lollipops and they were absolutely delicious. Next we had the duck wontons and they tasted good. Our final appetizer was the bruschetta, another good choice. They also have a beautiful dessert case. Desserts include bread pudding, brownies, apple pie a la mode, German Chocolate cake, red velvet cake, cheesecake, and a few other great looking cakes. BB's is a STAPLE in my visits to Jacksonville. I don't believe I've ever had a dish here that was not well worth it. Everything is amazing! The staff is super nice and accommodating. The overall feel of the restaurant is inviting. Though this restaurant does get busy for brunch and dinner, there are pockets of times in which the crowds slow. In my most recent visit to BB's, I attended brunch for a friend's birthday around midday and the restaurant was not packed at all. In fact, there was still parking in their main lot - which is not always the case when I visit. I usually park across the street in the secondary lot or I carpool. However, we got to enjoy the best of both worlds, brunch and lunch, without the usual bustle of the crowd that usually comes on weekends. As for the food, I had their pancakes - which were super tasty and filling. My friend gave me her eggs - which I will admit I didn't care for. They needed some extra seasoning - so I made due with salt and pepper to spice them up a bit. I paired everything with a glass of Prosecco! All in all, the brunch was great! My friend got treated with a sweet treat for her birthday and we also shared and toasted with a birthday shot! Price points are reasonable. Some items do get a bit pricey but for the most part, there's numerous items on the menu that are affordable. I'll definitely be back. As I visit each time I visit Jacksonville. Our waitress did not communicate that they only have canned soda and charge $3.50 per can. She served them in a glass as if it was fountain soda and brought out a half-already poured can when my husband asked for a refill. We would've gotten water before paying $10.50 for 3 diet cokes had we known. Ambiance: It is a loud, cramped place. It hopping and they are doing a great business. It feels like a diner with dark decor and 90's fonts. Cleanliness: The table and restaurant looked clean with silverware looking dingy but clean. The restroom - hold it, DON'T GO. The toilet paper is on a free-standing holder with storage for extra toilet paper at the bottom. This was stuffed with dirty diapers - so your toilet paper is falling into or setting in fecal matter before you've used it. Food: nice presentation Beverages - Besides my warning above, this establishment does not have sweet tea, which I imagine many people in the region would enjoy. Stuffed bruschetta - an extra toasty small baguette sliced and inserted with 3 slices of mozzarella. Every piece of bread does not have cheese. It was difficult to scoop the tomato onto your piece of bread and there was no balsamic. Stuffed French Toast - it has a warm blueberry cream cheese in it, which somehow was flavorless. You will need the syrup if you want it a bit sweet. Chicken and Waffles - not going to lie, I was concerned how this would be when they didn't have sweet tea. It was bustling and kind of loud. My friend enjoyed her drink, called The End. The blackberry sangria was just okay to me. We shared the salmon dip as an appetizer. Very tasty! My friend ordered the chop chop salad, which had salad, noodles and an Asian dressing. She seemed to like it. I had a fried green tomato sandwich with bacon added. The sandwich was okay. I think the tomato needed seasoning but I really enjoyed the side Caesar salad. The desserts all looked amazing, but I settled on the croissant bread pudding, which was the highlight of my meal.
