Newk's has good food, an extensive menu, & friendly staff. I ordered the $9.99 half sandwich combo which includes a side + fountain soda. I had the Chicken Bacon Club (- tomato) with pasta salad. Both were good but I would prefer more dressing on the pasta salad & more honey mustard on the sandwich. I tasted my mom's lobster bisque which had a nice flavor but no discernible pieces of lobster.

The pimento cheese is the perfect combination of cheeses and to put it on a toasted baguette with some fresh sliced tomatoes.... Yum! And to pair it off with their rich tomatoes soup ... always hits the spot! Atmosphere was laid back, the cashier was pleasant, not much of a wait to get our lunch ... would definitely recommend you to find your perfect lunch pairing from here.

From out of town so I thought I'd try it. Got the pick 3, chicken salad sandwich. Very tasty, came on toasted bread with melted provolone cheese that's seamed like fresh bread right out of the oven! Perfect crust on the outside and soft on the inside! Nice presentation for a somewhat fast food place. It was fast but delicious and not fast food tasting at all. Loaded potato soup was yummy! Cobb salad was loaded with ingredients, they didn't scrimp on it. The dressing was a tad light so if you like lots of dressing ask for extra. I thought I was gonna get bottled blue cheese dressing but this had fresh blue cheese crumbles! Loved it! Place is nice and clean and staff is friendly. Definitely will be back!

A coworker and I went to lunch there several times a week, so I have had almost everything on the menu. They have several salads, sandwiches and flatbreads, as well as several soups. Everything is good, and the portions are nice. They also have a thing they call Newk's table with free crackers, breadsticks, and condiments. Today for dinner I opted for my favorite salad, the Ultimate. It comes with several types of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, cubed ham and turkey, strips of chicken meat, cbacon bits, cheddar cheese, and croutons, with honey mustard dressing. It is a large salad and fills you up. All drinks also come in a large plastic cup with some type of Newk's theme on them, which you get to keep and take home. This is a nice fast casual type of restaurant.

I ordered the full salmon Caesar salad with a slice of strawberry cake for dessert. The salmon was cooked well and had a nice flavor that paired perfectly with the fresh romaine, parmesan, and Caesar dressing. The salad was fresh, filling, and didn't feel heavy, making it a great choice for lunch. I couldn't leave without trying the strawberry cake, and I'm glad I did. It was soft, moist, and full of fresh strawberry flavor without being overly sweet. It was the perfect way to finish the meal. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and everything came out fresh. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a lighter meal but still want something satisfying, the salmon Caesar salad is definitely worth ordering, and don't skip the strawberry cake. read more

My whole review is about ambiance. When we walked into the restaurant there were tables outside that hadn't been cleared . They were still there when we left . When we came in there were multiple tables that hadn't been cleared. The staff that took are order didn't go around to clean up the tables. We sat in a booth that hadn't a large tear in the cushion , it's the same booth we ate at 6 months ago. We paid $30+ dollars for 2 salads and 2drinks. The salads were good. The tiny plastic utensils weren't fit for the job. Last time I remember having real utensils. It was dark and gloomy in the restaurant. A feeling of it being unclean. Need double or triple the staff. This will be my last time here. And they wanted a tip? read more

I had the turkey avocado salad on wheat bread. The bread was tasty but thick & it was a little light on the turkey but otherwise it was a really good sandwich, I had chips on the side which was included. You order at the counter & they give you a number & bring the sandwich out to you. The dining area is large with plenty of seating. They also have covered outdoor seating. As I'm writing this the overall score is 3.9 which is spot on in my opinion. read more

Today, was our second visit to Newk's and very likely our last. We ordered the family meal deal with 2 pizzas and a salad. The pizzas were just ok but the Greek salad looked like it was several days old. Cucumbers were mushy and the lettuce was brown. On our first visit, the food was very fresh but today, not so much. The staff was nice but we won't be back. read more

Who doesn't like a good sandwich and some chili? Newks has all Covid precautions in place and the staff does a nice job separating what was normally a customer free for all. They will get your breadsticks or other items that were normally in the open for customers to get. The food was hot and fresh. The sandwich had great flavor and was prepared just as I had asked. The chili was phenomenal and I was given plenty of crackers to go with it. Newks is a great place to grab lunch! read more

Been to this location a few times before. Decided to go here yesterday for lunch with My Wife amd step Daughter. I decided to order the Newk's Q sandwich and loaded po soup. Both were very good. My Wife decided to order the Margherita pizza. She said that it was very good as well. My step Daughter decided to also have the New Q san with chips. She said that it was very good as well. I'm Greek. And I adored the matriarch and chef Georgia. And I'm reluctant to criticize a family…read morebusiness. But I'm a foodie. And eating out now is so expensive that the meal better be worth it. Sadly, I'm not going back to the Athenian Owl. (Even though Georgia promised to set me up with a nice Greek man.) My biggest complaints were the TINY servings for mostly overpriced dishes (especially the Souvlaki and the grilled Octopus), and the comically bad service .... Especially maddening is that a steady Greek Chorus of customers have lodged similar complaints on Google and Yelp -- all seemingly to no avail. Georgia's son George, the otherwise friendly owner, responds to each critical review with only a sarcastic "Have a Blessed Day!" The Athenian Owl offers a big variety of home-style, traditional Greek dishes. The family launched it about a decade ago -- after opening and running for years, then selling -- the still-popular Athens Cafe. I hosted a luncheon for four. I prepared a tasting menu of shared platters (see orange menu photo), and went to the restaurant days ahead to go over it with Georgia. I prepaid $292, no drinks, tax included. I left a $50 cash tip at the table (frankly, that was kind). Greeks are huge on hospitality, and take pride in being generous hosts. And they eat big. Even an ordinary Greek meal feels like Thanksgiving, with loosened belts and emergency naps .... So, when skimpy platters landed on the table, I was taken aback -- and upset. Days later, I'm still upset .... I've eaten hundreds of Greek meals (was even fed Greek baby food! lol), and I have Never, EVER, seen such skimpy servings! It was like that old TV ad: Where's the beef? BEST: -- Hummus dip w/ pita -- Saganaki flambé: fried Kefalograviera cheese. Alas, instead of a dramatic fiery show, the waitress lit only a small flame that quickly extinguished. Still tasty, but disappointing. -- Spanakopita: Spinach & Feta w/ phyllo crust. Get the entree pie, not the appetizers' triangles. But $20/slice is too high -- Grilled Vegetable Souvlaki -- Sautéed Mushrooms w/Capers: not on the menu, but it's the Riganato dish, minus the lemon sauce -- Baklava: phyllo pastry of chopped nuts & syrup -- Galaktoboureko: custard pie w/phyllo crust & syrup JUST OK: -- Pastichio: Greek lasagna. Too little ground beef. And I couldn't detect any cheese or sauce. It was mostly just noodle, ridiculous at $21/portion. The bechamel rescued it for me, but my guests barely touched it. -- Dolmades: stuffed grape leaves. So-so, saved by the lemon sauce topping. Dolmades at the Whole Foods' buffet are tastier -- and they come from a can! -- Elliniki salad: good tomatoes and vinaigrette. Tasteless Feta chunks. Overrun w/ onion. HARD PASS: -- Souvlaki: each Kebob chunk was TINY. And the serving sizes were also galling. I ordered 3 skewers of chicken ($30) and 2 of lamb ($24), and we barely got half the meat that's typically served at other Greek venues -- at like twice the price! .... I was so irked that I called Georgia over. C'mon, chicken is cheap. I've had bigger and better for 10 bucks at street food trucks. -- Grilled Octopus: a Greek specialty, and traditionally a signature dish. I complained to Georgia again: Not only was the serving not the customary entire tentacle, but it was also the world's thinnest. What, was this the last octopus in the ocean? At $24: another rip-off. -- Avgolemono: supposed to be thick and creamy soup, with a lemony egg broth. It was thin, as if watered-down. Almost no chicken or rice. -- Lemon Roasted Potatoes: lemon? undercooked -- Orzo "Rice": the waitress delivered this pasta side after the meal was over. Literally a "leftover," so I took it home. Blah. Speaking of the waitress: Other reviewers here have often cited woeful service. Our waitress was nice and well-meaning, but .... She forgot the Orzo. Ditto the Tzatziki yogurt dip and pita w/ the Souvlaki. She screwed up the Saganaki flambé. She delivered the meals in the wrong sequence. She even had to be reminded twice to bring the bread basket .... What's nuts: She didn't have to write down a single dish -- it was all pre-ordered! And, she had only a few other tables. Luckily, Georgia often checked-up and pitched-in. I bumped-up a Star here for her.

Overall the dish was hearty and healthy. My server also gave me some complimentary fresh pita and zataar & olive oil (delicious). At only $27.5 (as of Feb 2026), this was a perfect deal! As there are not many Middle Eastern restaurants in Jacksonville, I am glad to find it and I would go there again the next time I visit this city!

We started with Hummus and Tata Chips, which was crispy pita chips with a standard (but delicious) hummus. The Tata chips had great flavor, like Stacy's Pita Chips but better! The firat course was White Bean Fahsulia, which was a rich and hearty bean stew that packed huge flavor! Second course was Falafel with Tahini Sauce. These were a nice little bite between dishes. Finally, we reached the end of our dinner and Course 6, dessert, came out. Freshly made, sweet and decadent, traditional baklava. Filo dough, crushed walnuts, butter, and honey. This just melted away once it hit my mouth. I don't eat a whole lot of sweets but this had me closing my eyes and enjoying every bite. Every time I've visited Fast Eddy's the staff has been amazing, friendly, and hospitable. And of course, the place being completely decked out with rock and metal music memorabilia, i feel right at home here. Oh, and there's never a time where I leave that place without an order of the Pasta Anatoli to-go!
