We had a great experience at True Food Kitchen! We started by splitting the charred cauliflower, which was outstanding--the sauce was absolutely delicious and really made the dish. My wife ordered the spaghetti squash casserole with tofu and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the seasonal market salad along with a cup of autumn squash soup. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and it was filling without feeling heavy. The menu had so many other items that sounded amazing that it was hard to choose. We came here because we were shopping at Saint Johns Town Center. They had all the doors / windows open so inside was the same temperature as outside. If you're walking around outside doing shopping and you want to come inside the cool off, this is not the place to go. The food was good. It wasn't the best I've ever had and it wasn't the worst. My husband got a buffalo chicken sandwich that was 3 stars. Wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to rave about. I'm not sure what these sides were that came with it, but I do know that french fries weren't up charge and they were extremely bland lacked salt and were cold. I got a salad because it said that it had carrots and cauliflower and I added chicken but honestly, it was mostly spring mix. The other salads said that it was Green and Spring mix. This one did not so I was hoping for it to be more vegetables and not so much spring mix. If there was two florettes of cauliflower cut up in there that was a lot . The service was definitely five star. We sat at the bar and there were two people work in the bar and they were both very attentive and one of them made up extra of a green kale drink and gave us a little sample, which was quite fabulous Honestly, moving forward whether to go in here or not would depends on whether all of the doors were open going to the outside. The dumplings with the edamame were really good, but that's also more about the liquid broth that's in it. You can't just eat the dumplings so I think each item has its own quirk. I have no idea why on a hot day they would have all those doors open and not have the AC running for the people inside that wanted to be cool. My wife and I split the Air Fried Chicken tenders and fries, after coming off from a big brunch earlier in the morning. The chicken was fine but was seriously lacking flavors and crisp, and the fries might have been the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. Raw, un-seasoned and floppy all around. I know this place is aiming for high protein and macro focused meals, but the adherence to this is detrimental especially with the absence of traditional sodas. My favorite dishes were the Asian shrimp (great flavors and full of different textures to make it a party in your mouth) and the pizza because the crust was AMAZE~balls!!! The edamame dumplings had great flavors (hint of truffle oil) but the dumpling wrapper was way overcooked and mushy. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars was due to the service, it was pretty terrible. We came around 4pm and there were only 4-5 other tables in the whole restaurant, so no reason for the bad service. I didn't get to order my entree until way after the appetizer got there, we listened to the phone ringing for 10+ minutes while the bartender was behind the bar not doing anything. We made brunch reservations for my birthday. I was so excited! We made it in and were seated, then it took up to 20-25 minutes for our server to appear. We tried getting the attention of an employee "working" the section, who responded to our request for beverages with "I'll get your server." The restaurant was "busy" with an above average noise level, pick ups, and music. When our server finally appeared, he was nice with a bright smile. My mom & I were set to order Pomegranate mimosas, but found out that they were out. She ordered a Moscow mule w/pomegranate, my dad ordered a Spicy (zero) Margarita and I had the True & Crisp Citrus cocktail. The zero margarita could have used some salt on the rim to help offset the 0% tequila in the drink. My drink had warm rye whiskey, sour mix with a cinnamon stick & lemon garnish...it was okay. We began with guacamole and pita chips, which was surprisingly good and more guacamole than chips! Our entrees were the Jambalaya pasta (mom), Farmer's hash with a side of steak (dad) and Wild-caught shrimp with regenerative black rice, edamame, scallions, mushrooms in a ginger soy vinaigrette. That vinaigrette was love! My rice was a bit gummy but the dish, overall, had a nice bit of spice and firmness to the shrimp. My parents seemed pleased with their dishes until my dad asked for jelly to go with his toast. They offered honey, which seemed to satisfy. He also requested salt & pepper. Then, finally, for dessert, I, the Birthday Girl, ordered the chocolate chip cookie a la mode and requested the coconut whipped cream and caramel sauce while the parents shared the carrot cake with mascarpone and candied orange slices... I sampled the mascarpone, which tasted like cream cheese. But, my dessert had vegan vanilla ice cream and coconut whipped cream - literally the best part of the dessert with the caramel drizzle. The cookie was a big clump and very dry. Our server asked if I'd like another but I declined. Overall, I would not be too inclined to return anytime soon. I love True Food Kitchen! My favorite item to get is the Plant-Based Double Cheeseburger. It is SO GOOD. I love that I can eat this burger and feel good about the ingredients in it. I also tried the air fried French fries with a side of ranch which was delicious. The French fries do come with a side of peri peri ketchup which has a tangy flavor and tastes great. True Food Kitchen is an extremely well thought out and delicious dining experience. The restaurant is beautiful outside and inside. It's elegant but simple inside. Great use of earth tone of green and brown along with wood floors and walls. There is every type of seating booths, tables both small and large. You can see into the kitchen and drink station and it's done in a way that just adds to the decor. We were seated immediately with our reservation and waited on with water soon after. There is no soda served here, just their own drink blends along with alcohol drinks. We had water and decided to try their drinks another time. Everything is fresh, locally sourced and delicious. I had the jambalaya pasta and it was really good. Slightly spicy, the shrimp and chicken cooked to perfection and the "holy trinity " hit just right. My wife ordered the farmer's scramble off of the brunch menu and it was amazing as well. The true star of our meal may have been the sweet potato chips. Just the perfect crunch, the exact right amount of salty and sweet...fantastic. The fries were solid, the sauce was unique, tangy and a great accompaniment. Our lemon blueberry muffin was just a bit dry. Average in a meal that was otherwise stellar. Because they use such fresh ingredients and cook it in ways that are a bit more healthy, I left feeling full but not overly stuffed or bad. Updating my review from 4 to 2 stars. Went recently for brunch and ordered the orange juice with the tofu scramble (I've ordered the same thing 3 times before). The orange juice had a weird after taste, almost like the juicer or the glass had other stuff inside and was not properly rinsed off. Tofu scramble was half the portion size as the previous ones I've had, and it didn't have the sauce at the bottom this time for some reason, so it was very dry. Finally made it in. Place was spacious all interior is the same. I recall going go one a while back in Los Angeles. This one had a different feel, once we walked in, it took a minute for us to be "acknowledged" workers glanced at us but did not speak to us. Once seated our waitress came, we ordered. Here is my rating on the following dishes ordered. * Kids burger 10/10 (juicy juicy juicy) * Fries 3/10 (cold, and wilted, not crispy) * Chicken Parmesan ( 8/10 chicken) (6/10 pasta) * Quinoa Bowl 10/10 flavorful, quinoa was cooked perfectly! * Edamame Dumplings 1/10 (flavorless, not good at all) * Drinks 8/10 the ginger one was good, and so were the dragon fruit lemonades. The prickly pear was tart too tart * Flourless Chocolate Cake 10/10 yummy, fudgy, delicious $132 was the total for 4 people to each have a drink, a meal, and dessert, plus 1 appetizer. Fair price, but food sort of didn't hit it for me. Explanation was the burger was super juicy and full of flavoy, but the bun was dry and tasted like sandpaper. Stopped in here for dinner on a Friday night with my brother and his wife, we thought it would be a good choice for her because she is gluten and dairy free. We made reservations cause we thought it was going to be super busy, but there was only about three or four tables busy when we got there. It didn't get any more crowded as we went along. So the server was very friendly, they offered us sparkling tapwater from the bar or bottled sparkling water or some hand squeezed juices, which were pretty good. The food was OK. I thought most of it was pretty bland. I was excited for the butternut squash soup, but it was really quite tasteless. It also had no dairy in it so it had no body. The glass noodles were OK, but they weren't great, it was quite expensive for what you get. The carrot cake was interesting and unique, I can't say it was great, but it was OK. You know part of this might just be because there was no gluten and no dairy in a lot of of the food. The ambience was nice, the store was very clean, I just feel like they could do better with the flavors. My sister-in-law loved it. She's kind of used to things that don't necessarily taste that good because she doesn't eat gluten or dairy lol. For my entree, I chose the Farmers Scramble. Good amount of Scrambled eggs, roasted sweet potatoes, onions, peppers with some cheese. It was delicious and really satisfying. We also tried the lemon blueberry muffin and the apples r fried French fries with Peri-peri sauce. The muffin was good, especially the parts with blueberries which helped the moisture. The pieces without blueberries were a little dry. The fries were just okay but I loved the sauce. My husband enjoyed his jambalaya pasta too. My husband made a reservation at this beautiful restaurant at St. JOHN'S TOWN CENTER for today. We arrived around 10:30 and were seated at one of the tables along the wall. The place is very bright, airy and colorful. Our server provided us with both the regular menu and the brunch menu. There were plenty of options to choose from. I opted for the Chinese chicken salad. It had grilled chicken chunks, avocado, cabbage, ginger, bok choy, greens, watermelon radish, cilantro, and a ginger carrot dressing. It was very flavorful. I did need an additional dressing with the salad, which they quickly brought out. My daughter had the mediterrean breakfast bowl. It came with jammy eggs, tomatoes, chickpeas, cucumbers and watermelon radish. My husband had the wild caught shrimp dish. It came with black rice, mushrooms, edamame, snap peas, and cilantro. The chicken parm was bland- no seasoning. The pasta was awful. And the sauce on it had zero flavor. The $6 tiny dish of "cheesy mashed" was embarrassingly under seasoned. Also, it was no mashed. It was chunks of potato with very little cheese. I'd be embarrassed to sell this for $6. My wife's burger had no seasoning either. Bland she said. Not sure why this place is popular. It's located in Town Center Mall where all the restaurants are at (by Capital Grille). It's a healthy alternative compared to other dining options in the area. I thought the food would be similar to Fresh Kitchen in Tampa but it is lacking in flavor. I would not recommend the grass fed burger: it was cold and lacking any flavor. The street corn was good although I wish it were off the cob. I would recommend the kale Caesar salad but it's pricey for what it is. It was my first time here but probably won't be back. read more

My friends and I attended a Spring Menu Preview event at True Food Kitchen at the end of March. This was my first time dining here, and I enjoyed the experience! We started off with Mediterranean hummus served with ancient grain pita. The starter was amazing with all the spices and red peppers blended together so nicely. The second course included small bites of pot roast sliders and yam and cheese bites. The pot roast was tender and juicy. But the yam bites were the biggest surprise because I liked it lol. The combo when I read the menu threw me off a little, but it worked! For the main course, I chose the Citrus Salmon Salad. The salad presented well and the salmon was crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. I was happy with my choice! We were served several different drinks, some with and some without alcohol. My favorite drink was the Sparkling Prickly Pear Tisane, with zero alcohol. This drink was light and refreshing. The only drink I didn't care for was the Crime of Passion. My favorite dessert was the Pink Lime Tart with key lime & ube filling, marcona almond & coconut crumble. My family and I have loved True Food for years, but Mother's Day was such a let down. It breaks my heart that the entire evening was just one off thing after another. Simply put: *setting aside the line at the door which can happen anywhere that's busy, there's was a kitchen container (cambro) right in the middle of the check-in area catching the leaking ceiling. *the hosts did not seem experienced and the host stand incredibly disheveled * we waited 15+ minutes before being greeted by our server * once 30 mins of no water or drinks passed I went to the bar for some assistance and had to get our beverages through them * one bowl had a large crack splitting down the middle, and my Collin's glass was chipped along the side and only noticed when I was sipping from that spot * found a hair in two separate dishes * they didn't have enough glasses so they asked for one of our water cups that we got from the bar to put another beverage that we ordered into * our 2 appetizers came after our entrees On the upside, they did take off the late appetizers and the bar back/bartender who assisted us with water and a couple cocktails was an absolute angel. Our server was also very sweet but she was spread much too thin with too many tables/ people in her section. If you're understaffed then block reservations so that the people dining can have a quality experience. read more

Our waitress seemed distracted as she kept trying to get the attention of her colleague in the middle of our order. My wife found a hair in her food and they offered to remake it. The remade dish had burnt vegetables with extra sauce on top , perhaps to disguise the appearance of the vegetables? They did not charge us for the affected dish . The chicken sandwich was tasty and the meat was tender. We also ordered a flat bread but it was a little tough.
