I went here for the first time. I had the harissa avocado bowl with honey chicken let me tell you it is pretty spicy. Lotta good flavor though but if you don't like hot, you might not like it. I liked it, but it was a bit hot. my husband did not care for spice They definitely have to be related to chipotle it's the exact same set up. They need to clean their bathrooms better because when I see that the bathrooms aren't being cleaned it tells me that they're not really that up on clean. Entering the establishment it's like a chipotle but Mediterranean food instead. My partner and I had two different bowl She had the chicken and I had the steak. They were both pretty good but the amount of feta was just too much for me. I just wished they gave a bit more rice as all that was left in my bowl was just protein and the veggies. The service was decent not the best but could tolerate. The lady who started with the bowl seem a bit passive but it's whatever, and the second one to do the topping didn't even seem like she wanted to be there. My coworkers finally convinced me to try this place out and I'm glad I did. I got delivered a Grains Bowl with black lentils, 1/2 braised lamb 1/2 spicy lamb meatballs, crazy feta (feta with jalapenos), tzatziki, red pepper hummus, fire roasted corn, tomato + cucumber, kalamata olives, lemon herb tahini, and free side pita. I checked out their drinks and I saw that they an old favorite of mine, Cucumber Mint Lime drink. Between that and the Blueberry Lavender drink I went with the CML. Of course I got it delivered. Omg, the bowl was delicious! Judging just by initial looks it doesn't seem like it's a lot of food but by the time you're done you're full. The work squad raved about the lamb meatballs and they were good, but I think they were just as good as the braised lamb. Either choice was a good one. All the other items tasted great. The drink would have been better if there was ice in it. I'm not sure if the ice melted by the time it got to me or if there was no ice at all. Food was good and staff was nice besides some white guy with curly hair and arm sleeves. He tried saying he was going to charge me for double chicken when all I asked for was chicken. He then was like I'll let it slide this time and I was like no it's not my mistake I just asked for double chicken man. Then when we paid he said can y'all eat at one of these two tables the rest of the lobby is closed. I get it that you also close at 10:30 but there was a line of people in there at 10:15 and he proceeds to yell in the lobby we close in 10 minutes we will not serve you after. It was so awkward everyone just looked at him and some people ate outside bc of him. I'm giving it 4 stars because there seems to be an inconsistency between store in terms of what qualifies as a first responder discount. Some stores and workers count military as first responder's specially those in medical jobs and others are very adamant about it being ONLY EMS, police, FIRE. Cava has a build your own bowl/pita meal or choose a chef curated bowl/pita recommendation. You stand in line, they build your meal based on your choices and until you pay once done. They have a variety of base items,dips, meats and topping to choose from. I built my own with baby spinach, splendid greens, roast eggplant, crazy feta, braised lamb (up charge), fire roasted corn, tomato&cucumber and crumbled feta. It was so good! It was a spicy, flavor popping, bowl of goodness. The pita chip was a nice touch since I didn't get the rice. The servers were busy so not a lot of assistance to help with making choices, but I didn't ask questions either. Decided on build your own bowl today and spicy lamb pita. The pita is always fresh and soft. Had a mix of super greens and black lentils for my bowl base, added eggplant and hummus (harissa and traditional) , grilled chicken, and about 5 toppings. Love that the toppings are unlimited. Everything we had was filling. In the past I've ordered their signature bowls. One of my faves is the harissa avocado. If you like spicy, that's a good one to get. Love this place and the healthy foods they serve! Very fresh and the ingredients comes together so well. I've had the seasonal Lemon Chicken and the Harissa Avocado! Good healthy fast food option! Had heard about cava for over a year before trying it & it actually lived up to the hype. On the pricey side for a fast food salad but it does taste good. Downfall when I visited was that it was early dinner time and they hadn't replenished everything since lunch so they were out of a few things and I definitely didn't get the fresh refills of anything. You definitely have to build your own bowl if you want it to stay healthy. They mix a bunch or different dressings/sauces so the key is to ask for the dressings on the side because you likely won't need them or can just use them as a dip. This is my 2nd review of Cava. My wife and I stopped by the location at the Town Center for dinner. She had already gotten Cava for lunch that day delivered, so she wasn't real hungry and just got a side of their Harissa Pita Chips and some Harissa dip and a drink. I got a build your own bowl, also a side of the Harissa Pita chips and a drink. This time for the protein I got a half and half of lamb meatballs and Falafel. (I think it was two of each total). I think that's one of the things I don't think is great, and that is their falafel. They should have a crunchy fried exterior and I should be able to taste the herbal blend inside, and these didn't have either. They were mushy, and I actually got confused with which ones were the lamb meatballs and which were the falafel. That seems strange, they should taste completely different. Other than that, I got some Harissa sauce, and two dressings, one of which also had Harissa in it. I must say, the spiciness was making me sweat, though it really didn't feel that spicy in my mouth. Overall, I like Cava. But I also don't hold it to a very high standard compared to an actual middle eastern restaurant, where I can actually get "real" falafel, and higher quality proteins, etc. Cava has essentially "subway'd" the cuisine, just as Chipotle/Moe's/Qdoba have done with TexMex, and then charge you a lot for it. It's really about convenience and speed over high quality. I know people like these chains. They have their place, I suppose. I just have a mindset of not confusing it as authentic and made with love. Does it taste bad? No. I don't dislike it. I just have no illusions about what I'm eating. They have the weirdest black lentils I've seen. They're so small. I got those instead of rice again, to avoid af few carbs. Oddly, I heard one of the workers explaining to a new customer ahead of me about the Saffron rice has the most expensive spice in the world (the Saffron). But when I looked at it, it didn't have even the slightest tinge of yellow/orange color to it, which I'd expect to see, so I guess they use so little of it that it's not even detectable. I saw a new restaurant on the news recently up north starting to franchise out Korean food. It's the same format, though. I'm just not sure as a society we're going in the right direction with these culture's foods. I'm all about exposing people to other culture's food but commercializing it to this degree I don't feel is doing them justice. The service was fine, but this isn't tableside service, though one of people preparing the food along the assembly line didn't speak English very well, so we had to clarify certain things a few times. The ambiance reminds me of these other restaurants I mentioned, which I forgot to add Blaze Pizza to that list. We paid after tip around $30. Keep in mind that was ONE bowl, two drinks and two orders of pita. Plus, we paid an upcharge for a scoop of one of the dips. I think if you go beyond two dips they start charging. That's pretty expensive in my opinion for the type of food you're getting, considering most of it is vegetables, dips, and small portions of proteins. When they portion out the proteins, they are not generous, just like Chipotle. Is it better than going to Mc D's and paying at least that much for clown food; yes. The more these chains grow, the more it makes me wonder how our fast casual dining experience is changing, and if it's for the better, especially for how much they are charging. If you like a particular cuisine from this type of exposure, go seek out a good mom and pop restaurant and support them, if you have a good experience there. read more
