My favorite was probably the pork skewers appetizer: two smallish skewers for $5.16. I'd put it slightly ahead of the short ribs. The latter was $19.65 for the Fiesta Plate. I didn't like the sides on the Fiesta Plate that much (macaroni salad, which my wife didn't like, rice, salad), though the salad was pretty good. It also had a piece of fried chicken; I thought it was nice, my wife not so much, but neither of us thought it was up to Jollibee (admittedly, a high standard). I had a taste of the pancit bihon, which was more strongly flavored than any I've had before, and not a favorite. Servings are smallish, so I don't think that Fiesta Plate is a good value. They close too early at night: 8 PM on a Friday. The setting is simple. Some of the seating looked uncomfortable, e.g. a bench or tables along the wall with wood at your back. We got a table with four plastic chairs, however, which was comfortable. Our server was very nice and friendly, though she had more work than she could handle without issues. They add 3.5% (reflected in the prices above), for using credit cards. With a soda ($3.36 for a can) and tip, the total for two shared courses came to $35. read more

Update 6/22/2026: Met up with a colleague for lunch and this place never fails me! The owner and staff are wonderful people working hard to bring the Hawaiian-Filipino taste to the Jax Community! Reminds me of when I visited Hawaii in the past and I just miss the islands! It was during early lunch so it was quiet at first but later saw folks coming through for lunch. My colleague never had Hawaiian food so the owner and I recommended a few dishes -- he chose the Loco Moco, Hawaiian-comfort food. I missed the garlic shrimp back then, and so luckily they had it in the menu -- Hawaiian Fried Garlic Shrimp!!! It was fantastic! The savory and super garlicky taste of those fried shrimps (yes, they had the shells still on, but that's the best part). The shells were crispy/fried enough and covered in the garlicky sauce that you can just eat it. Some folks may have other opinions, but I'm used to eating it this way in my culture as well. Food was great overall. It my first time trying Loco Moco and I was very pleasantly surprised. I tried two appetizers in the lumpia and an empanada and both exceeded my exptations. The waitress was friendly and attentive but annoyingly tried to upsell food to order. Minor mistake in that I ordered two eggs on my dish which were given to another dish in my party. I passed by the Riverside market and craved some boba drink and found this stand there. The service was great and the ladies that helped me were nice. The reason for the 3 stars was because the boba drink I got ( Pink Boba milk tea PTT) wasn't satisfying nor worth the $13. I would come back for something else. read more

Thank you Marinas Grinds for letting us dine in for my mothers birthday. Josephine was wonderful and tentative. She provided her way service and conversation. Food came out quickly and fresh. I really enjoyed the starters we ordered including the beef empanadas and the spam musubi. My family is Filipino so we ordered pancit, Lechon, and sinigang to get a taste of home, really delicious! The Hawaiian pasta salad was also a favorite of the night, it was very good and had the right amount of flavor. My husband enjoyed the marinade on the short ribs and he wanted to order a full plate of the Hawaiian pasta salad :) Great place and we will be back! read more

When I'm in Florida, I always end up craving Hawaiian food. Maybe it's the proximity to sand and water, or maybe it's just that coastal areas do Hawaiian cuisine better than anything I can get back home in the mid‑Atlantic. As soon as I walked in and heard the soft reggae music paired with the tropical décor, I knew I'd found the right spot. I quickly learned that Marianas Grinds is more than just Hawaiian--there's a full lineup of Asian dishes, including Filipino classics. I didn't come for lechon, but I won't pretend I wasn't tempted to abandon my original mission. I stayed focused and went with the Hawaiian BBQ, choosing the BBQ Chicken plate. The chicken thighs were impressively crispy, pretty sure they were double‑fried; if so, hats off to the kitchen. Coming in the late morning to mid afternoon, you will find that the restaurant is quiet with a few families sharing a meal. The staff and owners greet you to then make sure you are taken care of. Most items on the menu ranged between $10 to $20 dollars. As of the moment, what I was truly hoping to try was outside of my price range. I ordered to go and purchased a Spam Masubi ($3.50 without tax). I will state that this appetizer may not be the best representative of this restaurant's cuisine. I would personally rate it 5.8/10 and would truly hope to try something different. I also believe the cost to meal gained ratio left me feeling this was a bit overpriced. It was a very thin sliver and disappointing to say the least. I was excited that the siopao looked good until I opened these to find nothing. It feels like I got jipped. I know I can't believe it took me this long to finally get to Marianas Grinds but hey better late then never right? Came in on a Saturday for a late lunch around 1:30PM and had no problem getting a table. We were seated given menus as will as specialty menus and already I'm overwhelmed. They had so many options and it all sounded so good so of course I had my work cut out for me. All the apps sounded amazing so we had to ask for recommendations and they were very helpful. We went with the BBQ Pork Sticks, Spam Musubi, and the Veggie Lumpia (which you get 2 of when you check in). I will say all were great but my favorite was the BBQ Pork Stick. The Pork was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and the sauce was great too. I was having such a hard time trying to figure out what to get for my entrée but I had to got with the Loco Moco since I can't get anything like this anywhere else and I know they are doing this right plus you can't beat it at $9.99. Our food came out in about 10 minutes and it was great. Egg perfectly cooked, the beef juicy with a crispy sear, and that gravy... I was so flavorful. Truly one of the most flavorful gravy's I have ever had. This dish is also huge so bring you appetite. I know it took so long to finally come here but I can't wait to come back and I will have to since there is still so much I want to try. Plus you can't beat the amazing family and staff working here who was so helpful to us first timers. Also again, prices are amazing here and you will not leave hungry. Ma and Pa shop Island style! I love it! This is the first restaurant that made me feel like I was back in Guam again! It's decor, the various meals it offers - Marianas Grinds is the real deal and deserves every bit of its high ranting on Yelp. First off, all the staff members here are highly courteous and friendly. They'll take questions, and frequently check up on how you're doing. I sensed on my visit that many of the customers were regulars here as they were almost all called by name. Sign of a great reputation in the area Marianas Grinds enjoys! They mainly offer Hawaiian, Filipino, and Chamorro (Guamanian) cuisine styles - from what I ate, they do it very well. I had the chicken ginasan plate, which came with eggplant, bok choy, and onions - you gotta try this! It was all prepped perfectly, and the red rice and macaroni salad capped off a super Marianas cuisine experience! We also had pork adobo - I felt it was better here than most Island restaurants I've eaten in. But my favorite surprise on this day were the empanadas. The deep fried casing included beef and mixed vegetables (mainly corn and peas). These were delicious! I know I'll order these every time I visit Marians Grinds! Delish cuisine from the Islands. Philippine,Hawaiian and Guamanian mix. Located in the same plaza as Winn dixie on Beach blvd. they have some of their picture menu items on display. When you walk in you get this cute and casual vibe and you get greeted by a very hospitable staff. Seems as the family were all there working together. Service was prompt and they explained the menu as some stuff I wasn't familiar with. It's a mixture of Hawaiian, Filipino and Guamanian food. Nonetheless it was delicious. We started of with the spam musubi which definitely is big in Hawaii where spam is wrapped up like sushi. Then we got Locomoco beef patty on rice with fried egg and gravy. It was definitely delicious. Shrimp patty and chicken corn soup which was delicious. Portion size very good. Creamy and satisfying. We found this place just by driving by. We were intrigued because of the food that it offered- Philippino/Hawaiian. We ordered the Ramen with chicken katsu with a side of white rice, fried pork chop dish, and loco moco along with some appetizers. Everything was delicious! Even our picky eater girls ate it all up. The service was fast and super friendly. She took the time to learn our names and have a nice conversation with us. As I've explored the Jacksonville area in my quest for amazing food, I still have managed to miss this place time after time. However, today would be the moment I finally give this Hawaiian/Filipino spot a shot! Going in, there was a decent amount of seating, and it looked like lunch rush was calming down. For lunch, my friend and I ordered: 1x beef lumpia, 1x moco Loco plate, and 1x grilled bbq chicken plate. Moving on with my review; for the most part, everything was great! For starters, the moco Loco had a nice tender beef patty, rice was fluffy, and the egg was runny. Moreover, the gravy was pretty basic and light, BUT with the addition of their chili citrus soy sauce (ASK FOR THIS ON THE SIDE), it really boosted the savoryness of the meal making it super comforting! As for the bbq chicken, this was a nice sized chicken thigh that came grilled with a sweet teriyaki sauce. The piece was tender, and once more, the special soy sauce improved the flavor here again. The Fiesta rice was fluffy, too, and we liked the creamy macaroni (it didn't taste like just mayo coated noodles). The one critique we had was that the beef lumpia we ordered had no trace of meat inside and honestly tasted like a regular spring roll, which is a tad disappointing. Despite this, the service was EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE & FRIENDLY! I spoke to the owners after our meal, and I enjoyed learning more about the restaurants origin story/ culture around the cusuine. Comfy family owned business nestled in a plaza off of Saint John's and beach. The inside is cozy , with tv's to view the games. Had the Island style beef short ribs. I lived in Hawaii for a few years and was craving a bbq plate lunch so I checked this place out. I got the plate with short ribs, fried chicken and Mac salad and was impressed with the flavor. Craving satisfied! Not to mention the place is owned by the nicest family. I received the best customer service and felt like I was treated as if they knew me personally. While I was there I saw their sign for catering, and inquired about it for a birthday party I was planning. They had an amazing selection of foods to choose from and at an affordable price point. We've had our eye on Marianas Grinds for a while now- but timing never seemed to line up- John had mentioned them for Wednesday lunch too late but I had seen that the hours for Thursday might work- IF we went out for dinner again. We did! And enjoyed everything! Yelp check in gave us 2 free veggie lumpia and we ordered 2 each of beef and chicken lumpia too. All were so flavorful that John said he thinks these are his favorites so far in the area! At the end of the meal I ordered the banana lumpia and holy heck! JUST. SO. GOOD. Trust me- order them all and see for yourself! We also ordered the chicken teriyaki with double side of pancit, apparently ordering teriyaki chicken is common for first timers. lol~ we must think it's a safe plate! John gushed again over how much he loved it. The Pancit was delicious too- very flavorful. I have become accustomed to getting pancit as the main dish with a protein or several proteins, where this was a side. Still ah-mazing! I asked before we left what the most popular dish was and was told the flounder fillet with stir fry veggies and the Kalua Fiesta plate were 2 of the most popular dishes! Next time. We started with an order of beef lumpia and spam musubi. I ordered estafao-adobo pork with fiesta rice & Hawaiian mac salad. Hubby went with the teriyaki chicken and the same sides as me. The beef lumpia were delicious! These are tough to beat. It was our first time trying spam musubi and it was interesting. I thought it was tasty but I probably wouldn't get it again. The pork in the estafao-adobo wasn't the most tender but the flavor was on point. I would like to try this dish with chicken. I really enjoyed the adobo sauce on the fiesta rice. I liked the teriyaki chicken a lot. The Hawaiian mac salad was amazing! It may have been the highlight of the meal for me. Overall, nice lunch place.
