I have heard good things about Maschall's Kitchen through social media. They have great reviews so we finally decided to try them on a Friday afternoon. Their location has plenty of parking. Inside, they have a buffet set up but it's only available on weekends. We were graciously greeted by the owner and told us about the menu. I ordered the Afghan dumplings that everyone was talking about and it definitely lives up to the hype! It's similar to a Chinese dumpling, but their version has a garlic yogurt sauce, which added so much flavor, it was delicious! My husband got the Kabuki Pulao. This meal was a bit of a disappointment, it was a big portion due to the amount of rice, but it only comes with 2 pieces of meat! We did inform the owner and he did confirm that they only put 2 pieces of meat! I think for $21.99, they should add more. Overall, we will probably still come back for the dumplings and try other dishes.

    Huge Gyros sandwich!

Got to admit me and my friend pulled up to this place and it's like a hole in the wall but definitely not disappointed by the quality and quantity of the food! The gyros was huge, huge and huge and yummy for only $7.99! The dumplings were also delicious and authentic! I'm bringing my husband back for sure to try out their buffet this weekend!!!

Someone on FB had said that they had Mantu and that was all you had to tell me. I love Mantu!!! It's an Afghan-style dumpling with beef with a yogurt sauce. I got an order of it delivered and I should have known better. The last time I got it delivered it got seriously tossed around so it didn't look as good as it would plated. Maybe if it was in a smaller container so that they don't bounce around. However, the Mantu were still delicious! Thanks!

Maschall Kitchen near Southside is a hidden gem for authentic Afghan food. Their Bolani was freshly made, crisp and flavorful, Mantu dumplings were rich and comforting, and the Afghan Burger is a spicy, satisfying wrap. Don't miss the tender Chapati Kebab--simple, delicious, and full of flavor. A must-try spot for Afghan cuisine lovers at very affordable prices.

I've loved everything I've eaten from this restaurant. My favorite is the weekend buffet but everything on the menu is worth trying. $5.99 Afghan burger for a bargain meal full of chicken, fried and even some boiled egg. The service is wonderful you'll certainly meet the owner Sayed who will walk you through the menu.

My meal was less than lack luster. It tasted watered down bland sauce. The portion was very small. I hope I don't get sick from the food. I will never come back. The AC was broken and dripping water as you came in. I was so angry I spent my money here.

The Best Thai Restaurant in Jacksonville--Hands Down!…read more This place never disappoints! Their Thai tea is consistently perfect--smooth, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. For an appetizer, we ordered the spring rolls, which came in a set of three with a delicious sweet and sour-style dipping sauce (forgive me, I can't recall the exact name!). My husband went with the chicken fried rice, and the waiter brought out a Thai chili spicy sauce that paired beautifully with it, adding just the right amount of heat. I usually stick to my favorite--mussaman curry with tofu--but this time, I switched things up and got it with chicken. And wow, it was just as incredible! The flavors were deep, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Our server was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and checked in on us often without being intrusive. For dessert, I treated myself to mango and sticky rice, and every bite was heavenly. The mango was incredibly fresh, with a soft, buttery texture that melted in my mouth. And let's not forget the ambiance--the booths give off a cozy, transportive vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. Or if you want some authentic middle eastern food; ie, gyros, shawarma, grapeleaves, etc. After a hard day of working on things, I realized I had yet to grab anything to eat. It as about 3:30pm at this point and I needed something quick, tasty, and filling. I called up K&Y and ordered a few gyros, some extra to bring home to my family. Their gyros are always super tasty and well seasoned. For a cool $6, you get sliced beef, sliced lamb, and veggies stuffed into pita bread all topped in the gyro sauce. The sandwich is stuffed to the brim and actually comes in two extremely big halves! I recommend coming here for a change of pace from the ordinary fast food. This version is much healthy. It's also a good spot to check out for ingredients for those new recipes that've been on the back burner for awhile out of fear. The staff is more than helpful with anything you might need@

This store/restaurant combo is a great place to get some fresh baklava (the best I've had in town…read more-- got 8 scrumptious pieces for only $7) and a wide selection of fresh meats, various types of couscous, special flavors (almond butter, for example), and other ingredients to create your own middle eastern masterpieces at home. As for a ready-to-eat bite, I got their chicken shawarma and gyro plate ($6.50) http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/cEL6JycrcJjRHycrG-gb7w/l. This dish included shawarma, seasoned chicken, pita, hummus, and salad. The shawarma they serve here is just top quality lean lamb and flavorful. The strips of chicken had a mildly spicy seasoning. The top strips of chicken were somewhat dry, but the ones in the middle were much more moist and tasty. The pita bread were soft warm pillows, but the fresh tasting hummus was overdosed with too much olive oil which was pooling on top. The salad was a simple ice berg lettuce and tomato salad with sliced olives and feta cheese. What disappointed me about the meal was the chicken and hummus. However, the rest of the meal was pretty good and a whole lot of meat was loaded into it. Always a plus! By the way, one could clearly see from the meats hanging and roasting in the back, that they make their food fresh. I washed my meal down with a Pakistani soda http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/yo-3LArbGOo3jDazFwozhg/l - Pakota, lychee flavored. Wow! I couldn't stop drinking it. Pretty good. My son ordered the gyro sandwich ($5.50), but being the picky lil man he is, he didn't finish it. K & Y Imports is in the same shopping plaza with Harbor Freight Tools at the corner of Southside Blvd. and Beach Blvd.
