I found this place after attending a convention. Amazing! From the sustainable packaging to the world decor. I asked them to recommend a popular dish she suggested Lion City LiLi. Wow just the best of everything. It was slightly nutty, the curry was thick and stuck to the noodles giving each bite rich flavor. I wish I was a local I would try every curry dish here. So second try for us at Foo Dog Curry, we were not fans first time. Food was flavorful for fast food Curry that you eat out of a box (not a fan of this in house). The staff and possibly their friends are incredibly loud and not enjoyable while trying to eat a meal. No one was in the restaurant and not Shocked since not a very pleasant environment to eat. I had the house curry with chicken, I say chicken but I only had about 3 small chunks in my dish, and a ton of potatoes and a large portion of rice. It was very expensive as well, over $30 for two of us and we had water to drink. Foo Dog your flavors are good you need some work on portions and quality of dish. read more

Wild Mushroom and ginger noodles dish is too salty. Noodles over cooked with an explanation of tamarind and start are very salty all these dishes are that way because of the sauce. Try a curry. Naw just a refund. Good Luck read more

Decor is nice, place is clean. With curry it shouldn't be necessary to add as much salt to their dishes as they do. I do find it annoying to be served out of a box and plastic utensils add another negative to the experience not to mention the fact that they are not environmentally friendly. I really wanted to love this place! I viewed as a healthier option and swung by after a yoga class. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or maybe it's more of a comfort food option. My dish was sooooooooo incredibly salty. I didn't even finish it. If I hadn't taken to go I would've asked for something else. It's quite pricey for what you get. I order the vegan dishes which one of dishes is mainly cabbage and rice I don't understand why someone would charge $14 for a tiny serving of cabbage and rice ,when a head of cabbage is inexpensive and a bag of rice is inexpensive. Chef Howard's flavors pop with every bite. Being fairly new to curry, he explained the basics and help us with out selections. The Thai Garlic wings were very flavorful. I really am disheartened to say that my family and I tried to enjoy dinner here and the main reason I won't be back is for the service and I am one of the easiest going people when it comes to food service I can understand if a place is super busy or maybe a server had a bad day. For starters the only person here taking orders or answering the phone and representing this establishment has her back turned to customers the entire time so you can't even ask her a question without yelling. We waited 45 mins for our order of 4 appetizers and they were just sitting there but hadn't been brought to us. During our time waiting (there were to go orders being prepared and our table and one other table seated) and neither the chef or owner coming in and out could take a moment to ask if everything is ok or acknowledge us. Not that it's required but is always a nice touch for a place like this. Needless to say it's unfortunate that the quality of the food doesn't have any bearing on our return/experience. read more

I ordered the wild ginger and mushroom noodles and Banh Mi spring rolls. Both were insanely salty and i couldn't taste any ginger. The noodles were dry and over cooked. I knew bout this place for months now. In fact I visited here with a pair of brothers who were also interested in opening here. Chef Howard got it and the rest is history. The place looks awesome with many of the walls filled with sculptures of the orient. From the God of something that guards the kitchen to the foo dog that guides you to the counter. The place is small but it still has more tables then 13 Gypsies. Now the food has been in Chefs head more many years now. I have tasted a few dishes over the time that I have known him. I have seen the menu and knew I wanted most of the apps and a couple of the mains. I brought my wife to help me eat. that way I can get more and I won't look like the pig that I am. So I got the jerk and rice in which the rice was amazing the beef just as good too. Then the crab balls with a killer dipping sauce. There is plenty of crab inside these and everyone needs them in their life. We also tried the spring rolls and they were good with some really fresh ingredince. For mains I went for the wild ginger and mushroom noddles. This dish was outstanding with flavors that had me at the bottom of the bowl in no time. I really liked the noodles and the house seasonings are defiantly on my short list to steal asap. The wife dug into the house curry cause she is just that way. I did get a picture before she was all over it. It was also spot on. Not to spicy for me but enough to make her nose run. It was really good and she will be back before return from work. I hear that they are going to deliver coming soon. I wonder if they will bring my mail too. Cause I will be here in the back corner for the next foreseeable future. I've never had a bad dish here- my favorites have included the japchae and their ginger mushroom curry. Im a lover of spicy food and a vegetarian, and they accommodate both of these preferences really well- one of my favorite restaurants in Jacksonville for this very reason. Don't forget to pick up some of their spicy chili oil- one for your dish and one for the road ;) The only reason I've given them 4/5 stars is because they are a bit pricy, with entrees setting you back by $12-15, and the serving portions not representative of this cost. read more

Ate here for the first time today. Love the fresh ingredients and the willingness to customize each dish. Chef Howard--- What Happened? Your flagship eatery, 13 Gypsies is a juggernaut in the local tapas scene. It's originality and superb recipes transcended the legions of small plate players around town and you've delighted diners while scaring hell out of chefs. Riding on his success at 13 Gypsies, Howard Kirk recently unveiled Foo Dog Curry Traders. We couldn't wait to experience the eclectic curry selection that awaited. Two words describe our first visit--utterly disappointing. For a starter, we shared the spring rolls ($8). They appeared similar to the fresh spring rolls served by Thai restaurants. Ever the innovator, rather than loading them with veggies and seafood , Chef Howard stuffed them with pieces of pork and rice. They were served with something akin to ranch dressing. Worst spring rolls ever. Anxious to purge the taste in our mouths, we dove right into our curries when they arrived. Mine was Green Curry with Crispy Cod ($13) on a mountain of sticky rice. The cod was sparse and overcooked while the curry sauce was practically tasteless. My dining partner opted for the Vegetable Korma ($12). It consisted of trace amounts of shaved veggies, tofu cubes, and the obligatory rice heap. All of the featured curry sauces are allegedly different but guess what--it came with the same greenish glop that I was suffering through . Here's the kicker. When I asked for chutney to sweeten up this mess, I was presented a tablespoon of roughly pureed date (yum) and assessed 50 cents. After all, it was an extra. My humble suggestions to the Chef- 1) Rethink your recipes. The three we had were flops. 2) Cut your prices. $40 is way high for a couple of lunches. 3) Perhaps rename the place Rice World. read more

Finally made it to this bookmarked location. This is a very clean space with a good menu. I had the mushroom noodles with tofu. Their tofu is bomb! It's the crispiest tofu I've ever had! This dish was delicious. I also had the zucchini fritters which was so flavorful and crispy! Only slight comment is it was a little oily but that was very minor. Overall yummy funky place!
