A wonderful meal at Yoon's Spoon. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came in. The restaurant is small and connected to a gym. However, I saw the fresh vegetables and the sweetest lady asking what I would like to eat. She was cutting fresh squash and zucchini so I know I would be in for a hardy but healthy meal. The menu was simple with good flavor pairings so it was hard settling on something for lunch. I settled on the Bulgogi Korean Plate w/ extra steamed vegetables and it came with a salad. So plenty of vegetables to go around. There was plenty of food on the plate when presented and because I was hungry when I walked in I probably ordered more than my belly could hold. Everything was fresh, fast but fresh. The bulgogi was tendered and cooked well. The vegetables were cooked thoroughly but still crisp. The surprise salad had a nice soy ginger vinaigrette dressing. I truly enjoyed Yoon's Spoon; a pleasant surprise. Then hearing the owner was/is battling breast cancer I'm glad I support this small business off the whelm. read more

Great spot for lunch. Yoon's is a small establishment right next to a gym. Their hours are limited and so is their menu, but what they do serve is pretty good. They offer health-conscious Korean food. I ended up getting the Bulgogi Bento and hubby got their David's Bowl. Both dishes were satisfying and were a good-sized portion. The Bulgogi bento came with a side salad, rice, and gyoza. The meat was marinated well and full of flavor. The David's Bowl is a bowl of teriyaki chicken over a bed of rice with lots of veggies and topped with avocado. The chicken was done well and wasn't dry at all. Hubby and I finally made it over to Yoon's Spoon on Beach Blvd. for lunch today and we were delighted by every aspect of our meal. We shared the ahi tuna poke bowl to start (because there were too many yummy-sounding things on the menu to pick just one) and she divided it into two bowls without me even having to ask, which was very thoughtful. Let me tell you, it was the BEST poke bowl I've ever had. Super fresh with lots of big cubes of ahi, finely-chopped cucumber, mango and pineapple, avocado and spring mix with a delicious sauce and a couple of crispy wontons as garnish. Hubby had the David's Bowl with tuna (seared ahi, brown rice, steamed broccoli and half a perfectly-ripe avocado with teriyaki sauce) while I had James' stir-fry bowl with tons of chicken breast, brown rice and wok-fired veggies. Everything tasted amazing and I will be in a happy food coma for the rest of the day. She's only open from 11:30 to 5 M-F but I'm already planning a return visit to try the salads and spring rolls. Came here to try out the food based upon a recommendation from someone I know. I ordered the bulgogi bento box and lobster Cali roll to go... O. M. G. The bulgogi and sushi roll are absolutely deeeeelish! The bulgogi was tender and flavorful. The bento box came with some brown rice, gyoza (3 pcs) and a salad. Portion size was perfect. Out of this world! I always get the Korean Beef plate because it is too delicious for me to try anything else. My husband gets the chicken one and loved that as well. Since this restaurant is attached to a local gym, their aim is to be as fresh and healthy as possible. If you would like a non-fried and healthy option (with great taste) try this restaurant. Unlike most korean restaurants in Jacksonville, this place does not use MSG, significant salt, super spicy items. The owner was a chef (trained in french cuisine) in san francisco. A delight to find this place in Jacksonville! They also cater, and if you would like to have authentic french cuisine,one can also rent the entire restaurant for the evening.
