The rice on the other hand really threw us for a loop - it tasted somewhat like soap. We aren't sure if this is a lemongrass or something else the rice was cooked in but definitely was not good. This thai food is SO good! I visited for the first time recently while meeting a friend at Ruby Beach Brewery. It was pouring outside, so the outside area was empty. I can imagine it gets pretty busy. It took about 30 minutes for our food to be made which shows it is really made fresh to order. I tried the thai curry bowl with tofu and asked to add extra vegetables. It was $19 and came with a little veggie spring roll on top. The portion size was huge and I ate all of the curry. I will absolutely order this again. I ordered the thai chicken and rice ($16) for my boyfriend to go and the box was so heavy! It fed him multiple meals and he loved it. My friend got the loaded fries which was something I've never seen before! It had a drizzle of something like yum yum and terriyaki sauce on top. She added tofu and it was cooked perfectly. What a treat! The portion was huge and I will definitely get those to share next time. They prefer cash or venmo payment and it will be a bit cheaper than using a credit card. Hungry Owl is one of my favorite places to have Thai food and IMO has the BEST drunken noodles in the city! Even as someone who's sensitive to spice, I recommend getting the drunken noodles with at least mild spice because the one time I got it with none, it also lacked some flavor. I don't get it as often but their signature Kao Man Gai is also great. My go-to is the pad ka prao gai, one of the best renditions of the dish that I've had - huge portion of ground chicken and chiles over rice, with a fried egg and an egg roll to boot. The khao soi is also excellent, though not the easiest to eat in your work clothes. The kaomangai fried chicken is the dish that most people come for - it's good, but it's not my favorite on the menu. I have fond memories of eating delicious homemade lumpia from my college years when I spent a summer living near a Filipino family that fed me lumpia and other delicious food all of the time. Oh man that lumpia is killer! I could live off those and be one happy camper. It was just perfect timing that we stubbled upon the Hungry Owl truck this week. We didn't really have plans for dinner so we went to check out what food trucks were in the neighborhood and lucky for us The Hungry Owl was there and we had been wanting to try them. After looking over the menu I ordered Kao Soi which is Thai Egg Noodles with Curry Broth and for my protein I went with Beef. I doesn't sound much better then that. Ashley ordered the Pad Ka Prao Gai which is Thai Spicy Basil Chicken. We also had to get and order of the Pork Lumpia. Our good was ready in about 10 minutes. Once home we got into it. My Kao Soi looked amazing and once I added the Curry Broth it was even better. The Beef in the Kao Soi was so flavorful and tender. The curry was also rich and really pulled together the whole dish. I think this might have been one of the best dishes I have had from a food truck. I also got to Try Ashley Pad Ka Prao Gai which was also very good. It was a little too spicy for her but for me it was perfect. To end the Pork Lumpia was also the best I have ever had. Can't say more good things about the Hungry Owl and will make sure to keep and eye out when I am out and about and maybe if I'm lucky they will be back in my neighborhood again soon. read more

I had a great meal here for food truck Friday. I ordered the fried chicken over the egg noodles. It was a hit, my five year old basically ate most of it because he loved it! I wish there was more bok choy because it was delicious and a bit hidden at the bottom. The fry on the chicken was unique and stayed crispy, which i find is hard to do on food trucks. I was driving to get some food with a coworker and we are this food truck at a local business. We immediately turned towards their direction since we heard great things and have been following their Instagram. Their prices are a little on the higher side I'd say but it certainly matches the quality of the food. The lumpia was long and thin which makes them extra crispy and delicious. Great flavor and not bad for about $1 each (it was $5 for 5 of them) I got the grilled Thai chicken and rice. It was pretty much like a teriyaki chicken over rice but with garlic sauce and cucumbers. Traditional chicken and rice has fish sauce in it but this was different. The chicken was a generous amount and full of flavor. It came with two different sauces and rice with some cucumbers on top. I definitely put all of the sauce on there for extra flavor. Last but not least, the mango coconut rice is very traditional and delicious. The rice was nice and chewy with not much overpowering sweetness. The mango was fresh and slightly tart ( how it's supposed to be to contrast with the sweetness) The only thing was the mango was sliced off and cubed but not removed from the skin. This wasn't too hard to take out by just scooping the meat out. It even came with a little bamboo spoon to eat it with. This is always fun. Also, smaller spoons seem to make desserts taste better (and last longer because you eat it slower.) Must try. Delicious food and great service. read more
