I love curry & have looked forward to Foo Dog opening their doors. The owner also owns 13 Gypsies (in the same block), so you know flavors are going to be on point. For my first visit, I started with ginger-basil wings. Fried to a golden brown with a hint of ginger and basil - nice opener! For the main course, I ordered The Buddha's Korma. I opted for the vegetarian version, loaded with potatoes, carrots and zucchini. The curry was delicious and the veggies were cooked perfectly - al dente. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the interesting assortment of international sodas they had to accompany. The restaurant is geared more for carry out to serve the local community, but they do have tables - mostly 2 tops, so be careful going with a large group. Decorations are a mix of southeast Asian (two-headed Gator that they called a Dragon) and Riverside brick. Very enjoyable & I look forward to working my way through the menu! read more

I must admit, I may have only given 4.5 stars if I had the chance but I am also ok with rounding up. First off, these wings are like the best chicken wings I have had in recent memory. I'm not kidding. So good and they stand up to a little travel. I got them to go which made me wary but even in a closed container when I got to eatin' about 15 minutes after leaving Foo Dog, they were still super crispy. Pretty amazing. Great subtle flavor, I could eat these for days (and then dream about them from the comfort of my hospital bed after the necessary triple bypass from clogged arteries and too many fried chicken wings... but I digress). I also got the chicken laksa which was also super tasty, though I want to try other items on the menu to compare and contrast. Mind you, every visit with include wings! Weird aside - the Thai tea is in a can! Yes, you read that right. I have never seen Thai tea come in a can but you know what... pour that into a glass with some ice and it tastes the same. So there. Hopefully you weren't looking for any beer, wine or liquor because they don't serve it... They say that you are more than welcome to eat on the back patio and get alcoholic beverages from the other restaurant in the strip. We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and zucchini fritters. For our entrées we ordered the house special chicken curry and the Buddhas korma. For our drinks we ordered rare cola(Inca Kola) The food came out in a timely manner fresh and hot. The presentation was amazing(Gordon Ramsay style) It is a little bit on the pricey side but what would you expect for something so new and in the trendiest part of town! Really enjoy Foo Dog for the convenience factor - dishes are all freshly made from scratch and prepared in less than 15 mins. All different styles of curries and other authentic meals from all over Malaysia. The only down fall is they are a bit pricey esp if you add protein. For $14 you would hope to have more than enough leftovers. But if you are hungry that won't be the case. The walls are adorned with really cool masks too! I wanted to love Foo Dog but it just didnt hit the spot for me. We ordered the zucchini fritters to start. They were tasty, if a little salty, but awkward to dip in the sauce container so they crumbled quite a bit. We ordered the house curry noodles which had a very strong curry taste and the noodles seemed slightly overcooked and stuck together. We also had the ginger mushroom noodles which were on the other side of the spectrum and slightly bland. The location is walk up and order which is usually a selling point for me, unfortunately in this instance it was not. The place is very small and we were the only ones there. We sat less than 10 ft from the counter where three people were working. We ordered an app and two entrees that came out at different times, which was fine, but instead of walking the few feet to deliver the food, they had us get up three times. We even left a tip when we ordered expecting the food would at least be brought to the table. Kind of a pet peeve but to each their own. Overall not a great experience, perhaps I will give it another try when it has been open a while. read more

Tried Foo Dog Curry Traders for first time tonight, being locals it's nice to have this in the neighborhood. Called in an order of Chips and Curry, Crispy Cod with Green Curry and Chicken Laksa for pick up. Very pleasant service experience when taking order. Entrees were great, very flavorful. The Crispy Cod with Green Curry could've done with more sauce. The sauce was very reduced, nearly dry, but the cod was perfect. The Laksa is not traditional, but an interesting take on the dish. Laksa's are usually a soup/broth noodle dish though this version is more like a Pad Thai. Again great flavors, but could've done with more sauce and protein. Portions are not your standard large sizes, which was a nice change. The Chips and Curry appetizer, at $6 the portion was very small, only enough for a couple of bites for two, a decent attempt on a U.K. Curry Chip. The curry sauce was good but unfortunately very salty, the curry sauce should be the hero not the salt. I would suggest eliminating the salt and let the curry sauce stand on its own. With a few adjustments this place could be a keeper, keeping in mind they have only been open a couple of weeks. Will definitely give this place a shot again, when they get all their ducks in a row. read more

My husband always gets the japchae and said it's better than my mom's. My mom is Korean and makes the best japchae so that's up for debate lol! As a vegetarian this restaurant is a solid four stars. It's a little, teeny corner store where you walk up and place your order. We went on an especially cold night with no heating. Luckily, that meant no wait! There's a huge variety of Asian Fusion type dishes that can all be customized per the eater's diet. I can always appreciate somewhere that gives us veg's an option. My order was the Buddha Korma - a coconut green curry with tofu over rice. It didn't list potatoes as a ingredient (pretty sure), but did come with them. Not my favorite as I think potatoes are a cheap, bland filler ingredient. It was warm and had a lot of flavor. The appetizers were also a win for us. Again all were vegetarian. We had the zucchini fritters (basically fried, grated zucchini) - crispy and delicious. The Jackfruit Nuggets - definitely the hit of the party. Fried with a curry batter, none of my friends had ever tried jackfruit and were amazed at how similar the texture was to chicken. And finally, the vegetarian spring rolls with tofu, rice paper wrapped around tofu and glass noodles. Hard to mess these up. My non-veg friends probably wouldn't give this place a four star (two threes and a two, I asked), but all said they would give it another try. One got a Pork Vindaloo - too much rice and very spicy. A pork fried rice - fried rice, nothing special. And the Lion City LiLi - too much ginger. I can't taste too confirm. None finished their meals if that says anything. I didn't love the flimsy containers, but get how easy it is too clean and pack up if you want to take them home. While there was a huge variety of Asian beverages and regular sodas, a beer would have been great with the flavors. The biggest con was the price. All of the apps were $7-8 and the dinners were $12-13. I don't feel the portion sizes or taste really warranted that price. I think with some tweaks it could be a great place. read more

Literally my favorite restaurant possibly ever. I lived in Chicago (one of the best places for food) for a year & still never found anything that rivals this place. Every time i would come visit town, I came here. Thankfully I am back and can come all the time again. The Kanpai noodles are absolutely the best noodles I've ever tasted; I could honestly eat them every meal! Also try their Chips and Curry (potatoes with their amazing curry sauce), I like mine with their homemade chili oil. Yes, the prices are a bit higher for a counter service place, but the amazing flavor in every recipe and made-to-order meals make it worth the price. I also love love love that everything is vegan but meat can be added. As a veg, it's nice to be able to bring my carnivore friends here and have options for us both. read more

We didn't know what we wanted but talked through our favorite flavors on the phone and gobbled up the rice and noodle dishes we were recommended. The crispy cod is where it's at. I got takeout from here and I was very pleased with the food and the service! I ordered through the YELP app and asked for my food to be very mild and it was. The woman at the counter said she wrote "spicy" on one of the containers for me so I'd know it was spicy. I was browsing yelp for good vegan/vegetarian restaurants when I came across foo dog. The drive was kind of long, but the food made up for it. I ordered the Japanese style noodles with the tofu. The noodles are amazing and the tofu goes great with them. I even let my grandma try a cube. She hasn't ever tried tofu and was very skeptical about it. She said it smelled and tasted good and I couldn't agree more. The scenery is decent. This is the perfect place to go for a group of two or just by yourself. Another thing I really like about the restaurant is the international menu. I find it really cool how I can try different style of dishes from different countries. I really like this place. My daughter is a curry lover so we decided to try Foo Dog on her birthday. Because there would be 6 or 7 of us I called 2 days ahead to book a table. I was informed they don't take reservations but since it was Monday lunch and they only have 1 large table (8 top) they would hold it for us. When we arrived there were 4 people in the restaurant sitting at the only large table. We were not greeted when we came in and when we approached the only sever present (an unfriendly and unkempt waitress) she informed me they do not hold tables regardless of what I had been told. We asked if we could put a few smaller tables together, again we were told "we don't allow that." Very disappointed, not even the slightest attempt to offer a solution.
