Pickled Apple Autumn Rolls, One of two with potato sticks instead of the typical crispy hot fry
Laura A.

We called to order a few of our favorites on this rainy Sunday. Jackfruit nuggets were delicious as usual. Rice-A-Rollies also were yummy, love that sweet chili sauce it's served with. The only disappointment was the Apple Autumn rolls, usually my favorite. They looked and tasted different. They were not as packed as full as usual and instead of crispy hot fries, they were filled with potato sticks. I am not a fan of potato chips and that is the flavor that overwhelmed the rolls. Made everything taste really salty too. Hope that is not a permanent change! Pick up was quick and easy, right here in our neighborhood.

I didn't realize I've never left a review for our all time fav, and go to, Foo dog! This place is the best! I dont know how they do it but wow! We like the spam fried rice and the fried shrimp appetizer! We have only eaten in once but the service was good and quick! The girl on the phone is always very kind when ordering to go! They have around 6 tables? Maybe 5? It's cute and eclectic inside! Great place to meet up with an old friend over dinner!

This is THE place to go for curry and non curry dishes. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian or a carnivore, FDCT has an option for you. On todays visit we ordered the samosa, vegan pop corn chicken, lion city lily, and the lime curry. Never a bad meal. Highly recommended.

Wild Ginger and Mushroom Noodles - Japan

Stopped in to grab some lunch randomly since it was next door to the coffee shop I was headed to. Was pleasantly surprised for a great meal and peaceful ambiance! Normally I look at reviews here before deciding on where to eat but came for the convenience. I had the Japanese wild mushroom and ginger noodles. Sauce was light but savory. Plenty of mushrooms on a generous serving of noodles. I only was able to eat half before full. Service from Bethany was fantastic, she had a to go box ready for me at the counter when I was about to ask! She also brought out homemade chili oil and kimchi hot sauces to try. I prefer the kimchi one and it has a good kick! Definitely would come back when in Jax!

I've been going to Food Dog Curry Traders for carry out for about two years, and it's a huge win every time. The food is divine, the staff extremely friendly, service quick and sooner or later I have to make time to eat in. The whole attitude and decor is just a Zen experience. Food Dog doesn't have a huge menu, it's big enough and EVERYTHING they do is a masterful fusion of Indian and Asian flavors. They blend sweet, savory and spicy in incredible ways. Tonight I had jackfruit for the first time. It came in the form of nuggets and they were just fantastic. There was a taste and consistency of a sweet, light white meat. It was simultaneously savory and sweet and the curry ketchup was the perfect accent. The Rice-a-Rollie's and Pickled Apple Autumn rolls are standard for us. I highly suggest you try this place out and I suggest you try something different every time. You'll always be glad you did.

I ordered online using an app deal. The online menu didn't include drinks or smaller sides or add-ons that their in-store menu does, so to get to the deal, I actually had to just add some plain rice to spend less money. Food was being freshly made when I arrived, and while they were doing 100% takeout business, the restaurant had an array of interesting Asian masks on the walls and football on, so eating in would be a good decision. Their dishes are curry sauces which are vegan by default and you can get a tofu or a fake chicken add-in (or vegetables). I ordered the most interesting option available, a lime curry, and it delivered the bright mix of flavors that I had hoped for. They had some rolls available with a bit of apple in addition to noodles and a protein of choice. The flavors were excellent overall, but the portion size didn't wow me. I would definitely be happy to come back as they had many other interesting menu options.

Ok 5/5 for the Wild Ginger and Mushroom Noodles!!! It's my fav noodle dish ever. The noodles are perfectly cooked & seasoned and the ratio of noodles to veggies is spot on. They are neither dry nor drowning in sauce. They also taste bomb leftover. Reasonable price, can sit inside or on the side walk there is a couple of chairs. I'm not a curry person but my friends love their curry too! Best noodles in jax!

We felt completely confident eating here with gluten and dairy allergy. Bethany was knowledgeable and ready to help at all times! The popcorn chicken was so crispy and not heavy at all, you could really pop them one after another they were so tasty and addicting. The rice a roll was crispy as well with a very flavorful inside filling. Kanpai is a good savory flavor and green curry is mild and satisfying.

I literally could eat here everyday! A must try if you love curry. Everything was so delicious. If you have a curry craving this is the place. And if you're gluten free everything is so no worries here. Can't wait to come back & try something else.

We ordered from this place one night to bring back to the hotel and it was pretty good! We're vegetarian so it was a perfect fit! We did street parking to pick it up. The bowl was okay and seemed to be lacking in flavor a little bit BUT the apple spring rolls were absolutely amazing!! So freaking good! The walls had some cool decorations on them and the staff were friendly. I would go back for the spring rolls alone!

Now that we live in riverside we decided to walk down to Foo Dog as I was craving Indian. Quick service and a yummy dinner again this visit. I like my Indian to be spicy so she gave me a spicy oil and kimchi to try. The kimchi was very good!!

Sat down to eat after five hours of driving. Absolutely delicious and all gluten free. Got the Chinese Fried Rice and it was steaming hot out of the kitchen. House made chili oil was the best part of the meal. Would come again.

There's beautiful art on the walls. I had the mushroom caprese melt and my friend had the garden kraut mushroom Reuben. Both were served warm on perfectly crunchy house made spelt sourdough. I had the delightful potato salad, and my friend had the ginger Napa slaw. Portion sizes were appropriate for a filling lunch. Prices not bad considering the healthiness of the food and that a side is included (around $15 for a sandwich and side). Staff was helpful with the questions we had, accessible even though there was a kiosk to take our order. Check this spot out!

ALSO location is changing soon** Now, with that out-of-the-way, my review: this is a beautiful all vegan eatery, with lush interior colors and vibrant HEALTHY PLANT-BASED menu choices. The pictures included with my review are current as of the posted date. SMOOTHIES/ SANDWICHES/ DESSERTS/ FRESH JUICE & TEAS/ KID MENU/ HUMMUS/ PASTA SALAD/ FERMENTED PRODUCE are all available on the digital menu (see pics) My daughters and I are on a multi-day road trip, we stopped in for brunch. We enjoyed pasta salad from the pantry (i.e. grab and go fridge) and staff made avocado toast for my girls which is not currently on the menu, but was offered when they noted surprise over the outdated menu expectations. The pasta salad is phenomenally flavorful. It hit my taste buds like an electric current!! Homemade bread and mashed avocado never disappoints but theirs is next level. Staff is so sweet, kind and understanding. I hope this place thrives in its new location because it absolutely deserves to. My only advice to Hungry Caterpillar is "Live Long And PROSPER!!" When we arrived, we found this pleasant environment with ample seating outside. As we began to review the menu, the manager of the shop was very friendly and helpful in navigating their menu. Ultimately, I decided to sample the bacon, egg, and cheese wrap. It was quite good. I believe they used a cheddar that was a bit strong for my taste and would have preferred some milder cheese options (like provolone). Regardless, it was tasty. My only complaint (and this may be specific to me) is that they did not have a cola flavored diet drink to offer. Yes, I admit, I need my Diet Coke with my meal. So, I had to walk around the corner and find a place to sell me a soda. Other than that, a great option for a meal.

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. I like more of American fusion and my friend likes vegan. We made a reservation considering the symphony was playing. When we arrived there were a few open tables so who knows if it mattered. Next was hostess getting us to the table. Sometimes I wonder if they like their jobs. I don't think it is too hard to walk someone to a table, help them sit down, smile a bit then do it again. You could be flipping burgers. But seriously just smile and fake it. Our server was nice yet he looked like he had been gaming all week and forgot to take a shower. I say this as a mom. If I'm going to fine dining, I'd like the staff to brush their hair. Boomers and Gen X appreciate well kept staff. I mean, you had to touch your greasy hair to get it out of your eyes then touch our plates. Plus we barely saw you. No refills. Now to the food. I forgot to take pics. My friend had a salad and I had the $20 chicken sandwich. We are foodies and prob could have cooked up same at home. When I eat out and dine at high rated places, I do have some expectations. We started with the Korean Fried Broccoli and we both had mixed feelings about it. We liked the overall taste but we both expected the breading to be far more crispy than it was. Having never tried it before, that could very well be how it's meant to be but when we see "Korean Fried", we are thinking crispy. Again, it wasn't bad, just not what we expected. I ordered the Steak Frites for my entree, which I ordered medium rare. Let me start by saying that the cook on the steak was perfect and I REALLY liked the fries and the seasoning on them. However, I was really surprised by how tough the the steak was. I mean, really tough. I liked parts of it but found it hard to enjoy most of it. My wife ordered the Sheep Style Smash Burger. She thought it was a good smash burger and the "sheep sauce" was a nice take on 1000 Island. She liked the potato bun and she really liked her fries as well. So it seems her entree was more of a success than mine. It's worth noting that our server Maya was fantastic. She added a lot to our enjoyment of the evening. Our server the first time was awesome too and I liked my entee (short rib) a LOT more. So we'll stop in again to try some other things eventually.
