1748 Bakehouse was wonderful! The service was top tier and the pimento blt was chef's kiss. I love a good sandwich and a good sandwich it was. I like that it was a small quaint space and just overall a good vibe. I would definitely go back.
1/5 Stars I was really looking forward to trying this place, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite placing my order and waiting, a customer who arrived after me was served first. The staff was not very friendly, which only added to the frustration. When I finally received my muffin, it was cold and hard, and I had to ask for it to be warmed. To make matters worse, after all that, I was given the wrong muffin. While the ambiance is nice--with a retro feel and attractive brick floors and walls--the poor service and order issues completely overshadowed the experience. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
1748 Bakery is officially worth the drive. Came from the other side of town just for breakfast and it did not disappoint. The food is delicious, but what really stood out was the energy the staff is so friendly and welcoming, it just makes the whole experience better. Bonus: they have outdoor seating, so we brought our pup and he loved sniffing around and people-watching right along with us. Such a great local spot. Definitely adding this one to the regular rotation.

Free parking is just steps away from this beyond-delicious bakery. The neighborhood might feel a little rough around the edges, but don't let that fool you--the people here could not be kinder. Inside, the bakery feels welcoming with wooden counters facing the street, small plants, and a hand-painted sign declaring "community comes first." The décor--brick walls, colorful umbrellas reminiscent of Japan, and beautiful glass lighting--sets the perfect tone. And then there's the bakery case, overflowing with treats that will stop you in your tracks: vegan strawberry muffins, flaky croissants, hearty breakfast sandwiches (they'll happily swap bacon for tomato), and matcha lattes where they don't skimp on the matcha. Don't miss the hand pies, filled with carrot, onion, and feta, perfectly seasoned to brighten your morning. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed. Soft music hums overhead, blending into the chatter of customers who can't wait to dig in the second their food arrives--only to finish within minutes and look a little sad it's already gone. Many, like us, head back for more to take home, despite swearing we wouldn't. (We caved for a blueberry muffin, and yes, it disappeared just as quickly!) The staff? Beyond friendly. They didn't just take our order--they asked questions, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made the whole process smooth, even with a line forming behind us. With plenty of staff on hand, no one waits long. Whether you're visiting for the weekend or lucky enough to live nearby, this is a place worth enjoying again and again.
I stopped in on a weekend to grab breakfast to go. A friend recommended the savory pastries and I was not disappointed. The oregano sun dried tomato pastry that had some of the flakiest pastry I've ever had. The cardamom cinnamon roll was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know how I would like the cardamom addition but it was well balanced and the dough was pillowy soft. The parking is street parking only which isn't ideal but wasn't too bad as it was earlier in the day. I would definitely return.
Came in on Sunday morning after my Pilates class to grab a quick coffee. Parking is street parking so might need to walk a bit if there's no open spots. Inside is very cute but small, this place was incredibly busy and definitely not enough seating. The menu is huge, lots of different options (pastries, sandwiches and salads). They do up charge for alternative milk options ($0.95 which I think is a bit excessive). I ordered a decaf latte with oat milk and the coffee itself was good, but the wait time was pretty long (waited about 15ish mins for a latte). Would recommend the place but would suggest to avoid coming here during peak hours
Been here every single day for the pass 2 weeks, I am addicted to the SOUPS omg. ..homemade and delicious. Currently having tummy issues and this is the only thing I can eat the Service is always pleasant. I love this place
Absolutely LOVE this place. Anytime I'm driving on I-95, I make sure to stop here. It's not far off the highway at all, and it's the perfect relaxing break during a long drive. I've been coming here for the past three years whenever I travel through, and I genuinely look forward to every visit. The vibe is cozy and welcoming, the food is amazing, and every dessert in the display case looks incredible. I always want to order one of everything. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the atmosphere and the quality of the food. Definitely one of my favorite spots to recharge during a road trip.
Cute little place on main street. Just look good and considering the number of people couldn't go wrong. Had coffee and raspberry pull apart with candyce. Also bought candied pecans. Nice little place. Super friendly service. And great tasting. Definitely will be back
I had such a great experience at 1748 Bakehouse! The staff were very sweet and their recommendations were great. I asked if there were any specialty coffee available and they said they had just made a strawberry basil syrup so I ended up getting a strawberry basil latte which was very good. I really loved how they made their syrup in house. For food, I had a turkey sandwich and then a raspberry/strawberry pastry. Both options were great. The turkey sandwich was very filling and the toasted bread was perfect. Can't wait to come back and try other food options. Still thinking about that pastry!
I was searching for a bakery to buy a sourdough loaf so I decided to stop by 1748 Bakehouse. The line was almost out the door but it did move fairly quickly. I ordered a sourdough loaf and was on my way. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best. I thought it was dense and the crust wasn't developed well. It was okay toasted, still not great. I ended up using about half the loaf to make croutons which came out pretty good. Nothing else on their menu really jumped out at me so I'm not sure I would return.
Carb-loading on a big event day at 1748 Bakehouse was a very good decision. Shoutout to our local Jax queen, Gabi Y, for suggesting this local gem! From the moment we laid eyes on the pastry case, our jaws were on the floor. Everything we had was amazing -- the breakfast sandwich on sourdough, ham & cheese croissant, matcha cheesecake blueberry croissant tart, and the brie country ham & hot honey galette. JUST WOW! We also got some lattes to fuel our morning and I opted for their special brown butter sesame latte -- yum! The bakery itself is very cute with some market and pantry items available to shop as well. The staff was very patient as we asked a million questions about all the pastries before making our selections. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the downtown Jax area! read more
I really loved this overall place from the aesthetic to the taste of the individual items. I ordered the lemon sugar cookie and that was one of my favorite items for sure. My boyfriend ordered the brownie and it was probably the best brownie I've ever had. I also tried the chia pudding and it had a really good assortment of fruits. The pistachios were a nice addition to the mix as well. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. I liked the bread and how well toasted it was. The bacon was perfect as well. The location of this spot was peak. It's located near a skate store, a metaphysical store, and a wine bar. I wish I was local because I would definitely be a regular here. I had such a great experience at 1748 Bakehouse! The staff were very sweet and their recommendations were great. I was searching for a bakery to buy a sourdough loaf so I decided to stop by 1748 Bakehouse. The line was almost out the door but it did move fairly quickly. I ordered a sourdough loaf and was on my way. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best. I thought it was dense and the crust wasn't developed well. It was okay toasted, still not great. I ended up using about half the loaf to make croutons which came out pretty good. Nothing else on their menu really jumped out at me so I'm not sure I would return. read more

Employees super patient and sweet. The ambiance is just a cute little coffee/bakery/lunch place. I didn't even feel like I was in Jacksonville. Big city, sweet feel. Lots of bakery choices. Lots! It's hard to make a choice. All the baked goods looked delicious. I ordered the chicken salad with green goddess dressing. The place was busy on a Sunday @12:45pm. Practically every seat was taken and people kept coming. Good sign! read more
Anytime I'm craving a yummy breakfast, I want to go to 1748! I can't believe it took me so long to go to their shop after years of waiting in line for their pastries at RAM. Their food and coffee are 10/10. I love trying new pastries in their bakery case. While the coffee shop is cute, I do wish it was in a better part of town. Would be ideal in an area like Riverside! read more

12/10 experience - if someone tells you different they may just have a bitter bone because I'm extremely picky with my food and lattes !!! Every time my husband and I visit our friends in Jacksonville beach we cross the bridge just for this coffee shop!!! Great coffee, amazing food, even better service !!! The little merchandise section is super cool too!!! I always get a little gift for family while I'm there !!! The table turn around is pretty fast too ! There's never a spot open when you're waiting in line but by the time you order there's a table available or a high top by the windows ! Such a cute place and the last time we visited we went every morning read more

What more can I say about this place. The line at RAM to get some of their pastries is the longest of any of the vendors. Every now and then I pop into their shop and get to try savory pastries I would have never considered - the picture posted is an asparagus and leek pastry I believe. Delicious and flaky and a combination I would have never guessed would have worked. The pastry is crispy and well constructed and their coffees are delicious. Their shop is picturesque and always full of happy people. read more

One of my favorite bakeries in Jax! My husband gets the breakfast sandwich every time, and I'm a fan of all the pastries and drinks. I LOVED the strawberry matcha, but also enjoy the seasonal flavors. Their brown butter sesame syrup was great in my cappuccino this last go round. read more

Everything we ordered was delicious- breakfast sandwiches on homemade English muffins were perfection but it was equally delicious on their toast. Took English muffins to go and ate two days later and still perfect. read more
This place is amazing! 1) everything is made fresh- and you can taste it! 2) we had the breakfast sandwich, mixed berry pastry, & caramel latte. All were amazing- but the iced latte is better than the hot. 3) they have a little market of goods to die for- pastas, flavored liqueurs, cocktail mixes along with fresh bread and kitchen accessories. 4) the people who work here are amazing! Very helpful 5) the look and feel of the Bakehouse makes you feel at home. Everything you want from a local bakery shop. Something to note: there is no internet on the weekends and during peak hours at this spot. This is to keep the flow going as this is a small shop and not a Panera LOL We have visited this place 2x now and plan to make it our regularly spot. read more
Delicious food, fresh ingredients. The salads are incredible - I highly recommend the tarragon chicken salad. Absolutely delicious fresh baked pastries are all amazing. Sometimes I just get a side of bacon and tomato with a pastry - a perfect breakfast. And the kombucha selection is on point! With such great food in this very hip bakery/cafe, you will not go wrong for lunch or breakfast. While the ingredients are great, I've found almost all their sandwiches (except the BLT) to be a little heavy handed. They pack too much. Huge slice of bread with a thick layer of greens and too many ingredients. Would like more simple sandwiches. The atmosphere is great, but there is not a lot of seating. This is made worse by people hogging tables unreasonably, such as while waiting for a to go order or over half an hour after finishing their meal, and the bakehouse seems to encourage that. It wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't such minimal seating. And the outdoor area is not very pleasant. But the staff is extremely nice. They are all very friendly people who clearly love working here. However you came upon this place - whether driving by, seeing them at the arts market, or just on Yelp - this is a stop worth checking out. I will certainly keep coming back. read more

Super cute and cozy neighborhood bakery! Everything is made from scratch, and you can truly taste the love in every bite. They even bake bread .There's a small store inside where you can buy local eggs from nearby farmers and vine .We had the breakfast sandwich and the turkey club both were incredibly tasty. This was my first time visit. I had high hopes, and boy, they did not disappoint. This may be my favorite bakery in Jax. I had the butter croissant, tahini and dark chocolate brown, and a fig jam/brie and bacon pastry all to go. All were delightful, but I bet they would all be better slightly heated up. I sat down and enjoyed the blood orange raspberry matcha and tomato pie when I was there. It's so hard to find actual good matcha in Jax but this was one of the best I ever had. If you are searching for genuinely great tasting matcha, you have to come here. I also love that they didn't skimp out on the matcha like they do everywhere else. It was busy but had a chill vibe to it, I love the little store they've got when you first enter in. Everything looks so enticing. I can't wait to go again and order off their actual menu instead of just pastries. The staff is also very friendly. read more

My favorite lunch spot in Springfield! The pimento BLT is my go-to--absolutely delicious. Everything is made with fresh, farm-sourced ingredients, and the cozy, charming atmosphere is filled with fun little trinkets and gifts for sale. The baked goods are always fresh, and their rotating latte specials are a treat. Seating is limited, so I wouldn't recommend coming with a group larger than four. It's counter service, and the food comes out quickly--usually within a few minutes. If you're planning a work event, they also offer boxed lunches, which are a great option. A definite must-visit if you're in the downtown Jacksonville area! read more

I wanted to try their Club Sandwich. Sandwich shops better watch out because the local bakeries and coffee shops are stepping up their game with some really tasty sandwiches! read more

Stopped here on our way home from a weekend trip in Jacksonville! The bakery is adorable. It's small and cozy interiorly, but they also have outside seating for anyone looking to stay and hang out. I absolutely adored how they have a little shopping area with items like teas, marmalades, spices honeys, wines, etc. to buy and take home. The staff were wonderful - incredibly kind and ready to serve you as soon as you walked up to the counter. We ordered a pastry item - their dark chocolate tahini brownie. It was fantastic! If I remember correctly, it was both GF and Vegan. They had many GF and Vegan items on display as well. Very rich in flavor, so I recommend sharing (which is what we did)! It was very fudgey, chocolatey, and strong. I personally enjoyed it, but if you're not a huge fan of dark chocolate, it could be overpowering for you. It was a great selection for us and both of us said we'd try it again! Street Parking is limited, so plan accordingly. We parked an intersection or so down from the store and had no trouble walking up to it. Highly recommend a visit! read more

I've lived in Jacksonville for 35 years, until today, the only decent bakery was Jack bread on Bay Meadows, well, I've found another one: 1748 BAKEHOUSE nestled in the heart of historic Springfield, the product, Service, staff and parking is outstanding! I had their Ham and Greer cheese, croissant, perfection, they make their own English muffins, outstanding! Their breakfast sandwich, maybe one of the best I've ever had ever, anywhere in the world. It is no secret how amazing this place is when you walk in and see the crowd! Despite there being a large crowd on Saturdays, the service was quick! The people were kind! And the food and drinks were great! I had the lemonade special, a loaf with some sort of lemon and strawberry mix and the bacon, goat cheese and bell pepper quiche! All of which were amazing! They also have a cute little spot when you walk in with many items you'll want to buy for yourself and all your friends! It's soo cute inside, very picturesque! So if you need some instagram shots while you have a bite to eat this might be your place! I can't wait to go back to try more on the menu! read more
