Everything we had was amazing -- the breakfast sandwich on sourdough, ham & cheese croissant, matcha cheesecake blueberry croissant tart, and the brie country ham & hot honey galette. JUST WOW! We also got some lattes to fuel our morning and I opted for their special brown butter sesame latte -- yum! The bakery itself is very cute with some market and pantry items available to shop as well. Yes to all the carbs in this bakehouse! I was in town for a work event and we decided to grab a bite from here since Gabi recommended. It DID NOT disappoint. A cute little spot with a lot of specialized baked goods that will make you want to get one of everything. The service was super friendly and helpful. We ended up getting a few of the baked goods to share for breakfast and I got the matcha lemonade. The lemonade was a good change of pace from my usual matcha latte. I really loved this overall place from the aesthetic to the taste of the individual items. I ordered the lemon sugar cookie and that was one of my favorite items for sure. My boyfriend ordered the brownie and it was probably the best brownie I've ever had. I also tried the chia pudding and it had a really good assortment of fruits. The pistachios were a nice addition to the mix as well. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. I liked the bread and how well toasted it was. The bacon was perfect as well. The location of this spot was peak. It's located near a skate store, a metaphysical store, and a wine bar. I wish I was local because I would definitely be a regular here. The food is delicious, but what really stood out was the energy the staff is so friendly and welcoming, it just makes the whole experience better. Bonus: they have outdoor seating, so we brought our pup and he loved sniffing around and people-watching right along with us. Such a great local spot. 1/5 Stars I was really looking forward to trying this place, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite placing my order and waiting, a customer who arrived after me was served first. The staff was not very friendly, which only added to the frustration. When I finally received my muffin, it was cold and hard, and I had to ask for it to be warmed. To make matters worse, after all that, I was given the wrong muffin. While the ambiance is nice--with a retro feel and attractive brick floors and walls--the poor service and order issues completely overshadowed the experience. I stopped in on a weekend to grab breakfast to go. A friend recommended the savory pastries and I was not disappointed. The oregano sun dried tomato pastry that had some of the flakiest pastry I've ever had. The cardamom cinnamon roll was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know how I would like the cardamom addition but it was well balanced and the dough was pillowy soft. Absolutely LOVE this place. Anytime I'm driving on I-95, I make sure to stop here. It's not far off the highway at all, and it's the perfect relaxing break during a long drive. I've been coming here for the past three years whenever I travel through, and I genuinely look forward to every visit. Inside is very cute but small, this place was incredibly busy and definitely not enough seating. The menu is huge, lots of different options (pastries, sandwiches and salads). They do up charge for alternative milk options ($0.95 which I think is a bit excessive). I ordered a decaf latte with oat milk and the coffee itself was good, but the wait time was pretty long (waited about 15ish mins for a latte). I asked if there were any specialty coffee available and they said they had just made a strawberry basil syrup so I ended up getting a strawberry basil latte which was very good. I really loved how they made their syrup in house. For food, I had a turkey sandwich and then a raspberry/strawberry pastry. Both options were great. I was searching for a bakery to buy a sourdough loaf so I decided to stop by 1748 Bakehouse. The line was almost out the door but it did move fairly quickly. I ordered a sourdough loaf and was on my way. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best. I thought it was dense and the crust wasn't developed well. It was okay toasted, still not great. I ended up using about half the loaf to make croutons which came out pretty good. Nothing else on their menu really jumped out at me so I'm not sure I would return. read more

During a short trip to Jacksonville to help some friends with their business, we walked right around the corner to 1748 about ten minutes before they closed. We asked if it was alright if we ordered sandwiches to go, and despite being those people who walked in at the last second, they were more than happy to take our order. What more can I say about this place. The line at RAM to get some of their pastries is the longest of any of the vendors. Every now and then I pop into their shop and get to try savory pastries I would have never considered - the picture posted is an asparagus and leek pastry I believe. I'm always enticed by something in the pastry case, but the breakfast sandwich (and some of the lunch options) are extremely good as well. The coffee is solid and well-priced as well (though I wish they'd put out the milk and sweetener somewhere so I could adjust it myself, the coffee can sometimes need a little extra doctoring.). Stopped in after hearing so many great things from friends that have tried pastries at the RAM. The shop itself is very cozy and was packed when I arrived. I ordered the cardamom morning bun, lemon pepper cream with zucchini, the creamed leeks jalapeno jam potato gallete, and the rose cardamom latte. I really enjoyed the latte, but I did wish the flavor was a little more apparent as there was plenty sweetness but light rose/cardamom flavor. The pastries were delicious and I would definitely return to try more. I will say the service aspect was not ideal. Sometimes I just get a side of bacon and tomato with a pastry - a perfect breakfast. And the kombucha selection is on point! With such great food in this very hip bakery/cafe, you will not go wrong for lunch or breakfast. While the ingredients are great, I've found almost all their sandwiches (except the BLT) to be a little heavy handed. They pack too much. Huge slice of bread with a thick layer of greens and too many ingredients. Would like more simple sandwiches. The atmosphere is great, but there is not a lot of seating. This is made worse by people hogging tables unreasonably, such as while waiting for a to go order or over half an hour after finishing their meal, and the bakehouse seems to encourage that. It wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't such minimal seating. And the outdoor area is not very pleasant. But the staff is extremely nice. They are all very friendly people who clearly love working here. However you came upon this place - whether driving by, seeing them at the arts market, or just on Yelp - this is a stop worth checking out. I will certainly keep coming back. read more

This was my first time visit. I had high hopes, and boy, they did not disappoint. This may be my favorite bakery in Jax. I had the butter croissant, tahini and dark chocolate brown, and a fig jam/brie and bacon pastry all to go. All were delightful, but I bet they would all be better slightly heated up. I sat down and enjoyed the blood orange raspberry matcha and tomato pie when I was there. It's so hard to find actual good matcha in Jax but this was one of the best I ever had. If you are searching for genuinely great tasting matcha, you have to come here. I also love that they didn't skimp out on the matcha like they do everywhere else. It was busy but had a chill vibe to it, I love the little store they've got when you first enter in. Everything looks so enticing. Everything is made with fresh, farm-sourced ingredients, and the cozy, charming atmosphere is filled with fun little trinkets and gifts for sale. Stopped here on our way home from a weekend trip in Jacksonville! The bakery is adorable. It's small and cozy interiorly, but they also have outside seating for anyone looking to stay and hang out. I absolutely adored how they have a little shopping area with items like teas, marmalades, spices honeys, wines, etc. to buy and take home. If I remember correctly, it was both GF and Vegan. They had many GF and Vegan items on display as well. Very rich in flavor, so I recommend sharing (which is what we did)! It was very fudgey, chocolatey, and strong. I personally enjoyed it, but if you're not a huge fan of dark chocolate, it could be overpowering for you. It was a great selection for us and both of us said we'd try it again! Street Parking is limited, so plan accordingly.
