Steamed buns
Tina C.

Drove past this bakery on my home to Jacksonville and had to stop and give it a try. The customer service was AMAZING!! The kind person inside explained to me what a few baked items were and did it with a smile. Order some steamed buns ( 2 small ones and 2 bigger ones) and treats (they were as soft as angel food cake and tasted delicious) and was so pleased with all my treats. I now wish I lived closer. If you're in the area give this place a try! They have a ton of frozen desserts and grocery items in the shop as well.

It's not the best location for me but even with such a small foot print, that have a lot to offer. A freezer section has Filipino ice cream and other treats to take home - both sweet and savory. A small grocery section has some staples of pancit noodles, snacks, and canned goods. I think the big draw here for the locals is the hot bar which has some favorites for those that are accustomed to the offerings as well as the adventurous who are not familiar with the fare. They even have a small bakery section which just adds to the appeal. My only critique is they have a sign advertising halo halo which is an ice treat consisting of shave ice, condensed milk, and various toppings including ube ice cream - but it appears they haven't really offered it as an option in quite some time.

Filipino store and a mini restaurant inside. They sell lots of Filipino grocery items from snacks, candies to noodles and spices. They also sell different types of egg rolls (beef, pork, etc) too. Inside they have also have Filipino food that are ready to eat. Food like adobo, pork barbecue, pansit, fried fish and egg rolls go name a few. Very busy during the weekends.

Inside baked siopao $1.40

So happy! This place is the best filipino store in Jax. The bakery makes it even higher than Mike's Cell. Prices are extremely affordable. Baked siopao was $1.40 and small steamed ones were 90 cents. The flavors were chicken or beef. They also have squid jerky which is something more Americans should try. Don't smell it. Just eat it. They also sell lumpia. I think she said that there were 50 medium sized ones in the package. They serve lunch and I need to go back for it. I went right before they closed and was so happy with all the variety of choices. It's in a part of town that most people don't go to because they think that it is very unsafe but the store is all by itself and the parking lot is only for the store and I felt extremely safe going as a young female.

We headed down towards Orange Park and decided to check out A & D Manila Bakery. It's a cute little Filipino bakery, grocery, and bakery. I got a little snack while I was there: a pork Siopao. Ground pork wrapped in a fluffy steamed bun. Delicious!

This location has fresh baked goods and desserts. There are some grocery goods. Sisig is amazing! I'm so hooked, I haven't tried anything else.

A&D has been on my bucket list for a few years. I knew we needed to get there early but we were in the area, and arrived shortly after 3pm on a Tuesday. Not very much was left, but what we did get - pork and chicken siopao, and a meat skewer- was delicious. A&D is still on my bucket list because I need to get there at noon to experience more of their menu. We did buy some Boy Bawang snacks (flavored corn nuts). I was quite intrigued by the avocado ice cream. They also had Ube and some other flavors. We did not get any other items though. It is small inside. Not meant to be eaten indoors. Lovely ladies working, and adhering to COVID-19 protocols. I guarantee you won't regret what you order even if I haven't gotten to experience the full menu.

Manila Bakery PANDESAL

After all the hype we have heard about this place after moving here from the Philippines, not so impressed. Maybe because, our expectations were too high. You would think that since there Pinoys apparently running the shop, the foods would be very authentic? This was not the case, in that there was a dramatic difference in one food that is a daily staple to many Filipinos. PANDESAL! Why is it so hard to make authentic looking and tasting PANDESAL? Yours is yellow? And sweeter than any I have ever had. Your Empanadas were very nice, a little pricey for something that doesn't require any imported ingredients! Also, yet to find Patis from Lorins a very common brand. Your Bangus and BBQ was very good, no Pancit which was a surprise.

I've been coming here for a few years since before they moved to this location but this is my first review. I've always had a great experience. The food is always good! You have to get there early because it goes fast! The women are always nice! My favorites are the puto (steamed rice cake), the bbq pork sticks, pork siopao, kuchinta...okay, everything is my favorite! It's hard to choose. Don't forget they are closed on Mondays!

Frozen lumpia. Fry on days when you just want to stay home. Always good! Love it with LaChoy sweet and sour.

Highly recommend this place. My go to place for pork kabobs and frozen lumpia. They ran out of kabobs by noon sadly. I know I should have planned better because yes they run out quick on Sunday. Lol. Cute little place with honest good Filipino food and groceries such as shrimp chips (one of the other big reasons I come here). Staff are all nice. Little far from me traveling from Bartram Springs area but yes worth it!

My favorite was the Ube cheesecake. It was a uniquely different flavor I wasnt expecting. Not too sweet either. The bischoff caramel crepe was not a fan favorite. I dont know what I was expecting but that wasn't it. It was soggy and not pleasing to my palate or my husband's. The strawberry shortcake was okay. I dont eat a lot of strawberry shortcake so I'm not sure what I was expecting. This shortcake seemed like it had more whipped cream than anything and maybe that's how they are supposed to be....but Im not sure. The vanilla bean cheesecake was also very good. I will be going back for another slice. Not too sweet, not dry. Nice and creamy. The service was good.

I made it my mission to find the and send her fresh mooncakes. I was thankful for this establishment, as they had five different flavors of mooncakes. This was the only place I located, close enough to Callahan, that actually sells mooncakes. They are located inside of R & D International Market. The bakery is well stocked with a very off sweet treats or savory baked goods. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They labeled each mooncake so we knew the flavors, as they are indivvidually wrapped. We shipped them overnight to her. We also bought doubles so we could try them.as well. The flavors were black sesame, green tea, pineapple, red bean and lotus. The black sesame and red bean were very dense. The lotus and green tea were a lighter texture with great flavor. Our favorite was the lotus with the red bean in second place. It is a quiet, quaint spot among the food court with a few tables to enjoy your purchase while you are there.

The next morning, we had the sausage and scallion bun at home. I liked it, maybe more than the pork bun, and would get it again, though it had the advantage of being reheated at home in the microwave. My wife liked the dough, the hot dog less so (and I must admit the hot dog in the croissant we had a while ago at Cruffin & Tea was better). I'd get this again, though probably trying the regular hot dog bun instead of the scallion one next time. I'd asked the server if she could reheat our items when I bought them, but she said no, and didn't seem to understand English well. So far, I've preferred the savory things to the sweets here. Each item was $3-3.25, so a better value than the other bakeries I go to. I will return to this place periodically, but I still prefer places like Cruffin & Tea and Le Petit Paris, so I'm giving Mai Xiang Garden Bakery an average rating, 3 stars: pretty good, but not above average for a bakery, other than the good value.

I got the German chocolate cake (this apparently isn't their normal one) and my husband got the dulce cheesecake. The waitress we had was great, and she recommended lots of tips and favorites to try. Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!'
