Awesome way to try food from several different areas! Turkish kabobs, Indian curry and Naan, Afghanistan pizza and ice cream. Lots of different options. You can sit down in their little food court that has restaurant style seating and a waiter will come take your order. We had a really tasty shawarma plate with beef and lamb. Then we also tried a Turkish pizza and hummus. Brought back good memories of our trip to Istanbul. We did not know this place but was recommended by someone and it was indeed a hidden gem! Apna Bazaar has 2 restaurants, a pizza store and a supermarket inside. We tried both and their food was delicious, big portions and affordable! Definitely going back to the Indian cuisine. The grocery inside has a variety of Mediterranean snacks, treats, fresh produce, etc! One of the restaurants also offers the famous Dubai knafeh chocolates. As a basic white male I LOVE apna bazaar. I come here a lot and am never disappointed by anything. The atmosphere and food is such a unique experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. Service is great and if you want a good haircut make sure to ask for Jafar at the barber shop. Would also recommend the afghan bakery. For some reason this one is reading as the one that's closed but the one that's open is right down the road. This place consists of a bunch of little shops. It's the best place to get herbs for my bath and teas and especially Dubai Chocolate. BUT, you have to go to the second shop next to the barber shop. After reading some rave reviews and being in the area, we decided to try Apna Bazzar and stopped at their food court. We were excited to try a couple of dishes, and the chicken and beef shawarma did not disappoint. The shawarma was served on a ciabatta roll, which was a departure from the traditional pita bread, but it made it feel more like a sandwich and it was oh so good. We also tried the Tikka Masala, which had just the right amount of heat and paired perfectly with the Naan bread. We really loved the taste and are looking forward to going again soon. read more

I was craving something packed with spices and flavor today; and, after speaking with my friend, decided to check out the Apna Bazar! Going in, the restaurant is actually located inside a mediterranean grocery store which has some decently priced items like the produce, meats, and bakery! For lunch we got the polak gosht and goat byriani. For dessert, we did some pumpkin havala and baklava. Moving into my review, the food for most part was a great value ($27), and highly delicious! For starters, the polak gosht came in a flavorful spicy spinach sauce, and goat meat was super tender! The byriani was very fluffy, and fragance of spices! However, I was tad dissapointed with the yogurt sauce as it tasted watered down. In addition, we did wait a good amount of time for our food, but it was very fresh! Despite my criticism, the dessert was also great - the Havala had a great pumpkin flavor reminiscent of pumpkin pie, and the baklava melted in your mouth and great pistachio filling! Overall, the food/service was very good, and everything reasonably priced. Final verdict 4.5/5. Definitely will be back here again! read more

This place is pretty interesting. They carry a good selection of international foods mostly from the Middle East. I noticed a selection of small tagine for sale on a shelf which was nice. It's good that morocco is represented here. Their selection is quite diverse, but the isles are very crowded and when there are a lot of people shopping they become almost unbearably crowded. They probably need more room. The products appear to be priced relatively fairly and I didn't find anything out of date. I will definitely come back. read more

So, first thing to understand is, they recently moved to a bigger and better location on down the road but still on Beach. Now, they have more room for their grocery store proper but also a food court, a barber shop, a store selling Indian ladies' fashions and apparently much more yet to come. I mean, it has just opened very recently. The grocery itself is very interesting: it's not just Indian goods but also Turkish, Middle Eastern, Persian, Pakistani, Afghan, and more. It seems like everything is halal--I'm not certain about that but seems the main theme is all products are halal. Now, because of this international flavor, things can be a bit confusing at first because a lot of goods are grouped by nation/culture but some are not. This is means among other things, there is an aisle of tea . . . but that's all Indian tea. Afghan tea is elsewhere, as is Persian. There are of course Indian pickles but not in the aisle titled "pickles" which instead is everyone else's pickles--so like Levantine pickles there. You just have to poke about some to figure out where everything is actually. They also have a variety of baklava and samosas up front for sale next to the check-out station. I got some samosas and they were absolutely excellent. Then there is the food court. There is an Indian express take-out cafe but the real attraction is Istanbul Grill and Bakery which relocated here. Their menu has been expanded and they even plan soon to start serving Turkish breakfasts on the weekend which is amazing: Turkish breakfast is just beyond but rare to find in a restaurant in the US (I make it at home but it is very time-intensive and dirties up countless small plates for all the jams and such necessary). They are also now a complete bakery and have the most utterly incredible-looking cakes. I did not get any of their cakes because I have a whole tray of baklava at home but they do look delicious. As I speak Turkish I could not help but overhear conversations people were having around me and all were Turkish and all were happy with their food--which speaks volumes. It is very rare to have that many Turkish people happy all at once about a restaurant. That's the best review of any Turkish restaurant you can get. read more

Honestly don't understand the low rating, this is an amazing Indian grocery. We've been customers for years, and always get quality curry and spices we can't get elsewhere. We're even able to find henna and some beauty products here. Aside from Indian/Pakistani products, there are a few Chinese and Turkish items available. Some prices can be a little high, I will admit, but most things are reasonable. One of the guys that works there always has a smile on his face and gave my mom and I some dates to try the last time we were in the store. If we lived closer, we would shop here more often! Apna Bazar is an international grocery store off Beach Blvd specializing in Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, South Indian, Middle Eastern, and halal foods. They have halal meats, fresh vegetables, a large frozen foods section, along with aisles full of snacks, teas/coffees, herbs, etc Also within Apna is a food court and other specialty stores. We grabbed a number of things for lunch: mixed grill, a variety of baklava, Turkish coffee, and jalebi. Most of our baklava was fresh but I had a few pieces that were stale. The mixed grill was delicious, cooked to order and filing. Turkish coffee was piping hot and strong like I love it. They do not brew with hot sand tho, if that's what you're looking for. Kids fave was the julebi. Hope to be back soon to try the pide. Also, don't let the parking intimidate you. It always looks packed from the road. I'm sure there are times of the day when the store is super busy, but we pulled into the lot and was able to find parking no problem. read more

The new Apna Bazar location is beautiful and has a small but amazing food court. There is also another restaurant that serves pizza and is a bakery but we did not try this trip. We ate lunch at the Apna Restaurant (Indian food) and had coffee and dessert at the Istanbul Bakery and Grill (Middle Eastern food and desserts). Our entrees were Lamb Biryani, Paneer Makhani, and Garlic Naan. The lamb was one of the best and I typically don't like lamb. The paneer makhani was very creamy and flavorful. At the Istanbul Grill and Bakery, the Turkish coffee was strong and delicious. They had an amazing selection of traditional desserts and others. Baklava prices were the best I have seen in a long time. The two desserts in the picture were only $3.75! 10/10 Would recommend. read more

It was well priced, well organized, and had friendly cashiers. We've eaten at both the Turkish and Indian restaurants since they've opened in the new location. this Indian / Pakistani grocery also sells Turkish food. i ordered Turkish bagel, simit, online years ago when i lived in jville. if i knew i could find it around the corner i would have come to apna bazar instead. I've been to the restaurant before to get Indian food but i didn't know the grocery part sells Turkish food until today. many of the desserts are similar so i wasn't surprised to see things like baklava, kadayıf, and künefe. but it was nice to see poğaça, börek of different types, and simit! they even have the Turkish coffee pot, cezve. i also saw kolonya here which my husband kept proudly saying it was more effective than regular hand sanitizer lol. if you need to do henna, they sell golecha dulhan henna mendhi ink kits here as well. the only negative to my visit was the staff lady who didn't know what ice cream was. i was hoping to find kulfi here but she kept pointing me to the pantry shelves far from the freezer section. i guess they don't carry it anymore? read more

What a disappointment. The food spot on the very end was horrible and the staff is so confused. Our order for 2 people took almost an hour, because they forgot to put the order in. After we ate everyone got sick from the food. We eat Indian food often, but this food was horrible. The grocery store was great and we got some really good items. You can't beat the prices! Curries are a bit oily but that may be because I typically do takeout so I've got a bit of a drive before I can dig in - nothing a quick stir doesn't fix. The spice balance on the curries is great too, mild does not mean bland - you get a full-flavored dish whether you ask for heat or not. The naan and samosas are excellent too. Whenever I've placed an order online, by the time I arrive, it's either ready or being packed up for me right then. Very prompt and friendly service and the new venue is really great, connected to a grocery and lots of other stores you can take a look around at and do some shopping in a really nice space too. read more

Location - 10769 Beach Blvd Unit 12 Jacksonville, FL 32246 United States. In the same area as Sahara cafe. The grocery is connected to a mini sit down casual restaurant. The restaurant is very small but the food that I had tasted so far was really good. I've tried the samosa and chicken and lamb biryani. The portion is pretty big so I usual get one entree and share. The staff- staff is usually helpful. I do agree on some reviews that price says one thing and the register staff ring up another so you have to be careful. I do not believe it is intentional but it is always a must to double check. The produce and products - the products I've gotten so far were mostly packaged items with the expiration date being good. The produce I've never tried but the meat butcher in the back doesn't seem to appetizing. The restaurant should have a wall not just a store shelf separating. In my opinion, some people just want a secluded place not eating right next to people buying food. Anyway that is my honest review. Constructive criticism at its best! Absolutely love visiting the newly opened location for Apna Bazar. This new location is fantastic with something for everyone. The food court features a few dining options... Get ready for a Turkish tour of excellence at Istanbul Grill which is by far the highlight of the food court with delicious food options to suit all desires. Offerings range from steak, chicken, and lamb dishes to salads, soups, pizzas, and wings all at reasonable prices. If you're looking to get phenomenal food whether dining in or ordering to go with high end restaurant quality you won't be disappointed. Weekends bring crowds but the staff and owner are always there to greet and make you feel welcome and the food is more than worth the wait. Be sure to save room for the unforgettable desserts and Turkish tea and be sure to take some freshly baked Turkish bread home. APNA Indian restaurant could use a bit of improvement as prices are spicy ( quite high ) and only include main dishes ( quite odd since most any other Indian restaurant INCLUDE commonly served sides ie: rice or naan ) with a main dish. The chef could really benefit from some additional training on the use of spices in dishes that are often so spicy or overly spiced and oily that it renders the dish inedible. ( My husband is born in India and thus I'm well aware Indian dishes are often quite spicy and rich in the use of spices ) I have eaten Indian food regularly for the last 13 years and love extremely spicy food 24/7. However, when a dish is overdone and the spice level causes the distinct array of flavours common in Indian dishes to blend together and you feel all you are consuming is like eating a pile of hot chilis to the point of being inedible even for him and oil is literally floating on the surface on your plate it becomes quite obvious the chef needs retraining. My husband brought the issues up with staff and the restaurant owners who had no solution and in fact advised him that the reason for high prices and the lack of any sides included with any dishes was as a result of higher prices for things like cooking oil. If visiting Apna Indian restaurant at the food court stick to drinks like the Mango lassi, Chai, and appetisers which are the only items made well here. Additionally there is a pizza and bread bakery store featuring Middle Eastern breads. Other stores at APNA Bazar: This location also features a well stocked huge grocery store adjacent to the food court where all kinds of Middle Eastern, Indian, and even South American grocery items can be found. Additionally they have a range of Middle Eastern houseware items, home decor items, Islamic religious items, and health and wellness items. Prices here are for the most part reasonable. Salah Barbershop where men can expect to find all of their beard, moustache, and haircut needs met with excellence as per my husband who was quite pleased with his most recent visit to have his beard taken care of. The prices here were excellent and reasonable to say the least. Waiting area here features ample incredibly comfortable seating and flat screen TV as well. There is a jewellery store for purchasing beautiful Middle Eastern gold jewellery for ladies brought directly from Dubai. Prices here are what you might expect for genuine 18K gold jewellery. $$$ There is a Middle Eastern clothing store featuring beautiful clothing for women, men, and children for all occasions, jewellery, perfumes, and hijabs ( Islamic headscarves ). Prices for ladies here can be a bit high but the owner is quite nice, really patient, and willing to negotiate prices. Lastly at least for now as this location is still growing... there is a family medicine doctor's office offering their services to make sure all healthcare needs are met by the Jacksonville community accepting health insurance and offering fairly reasonable prices for those needing to pay out of pocket. The restroom facilities here are spotless any time of day even on their busiest days. Restrooms here are also extremely privacy minded featuring toilets that are in fully enclosed spacious rooms with regular doors rather than the usual toilet stalls that are often cramped with doors that are built such that there is too much space between the bottom of the stall door and the floor and feature too wide of a gap between the bathroom wall and the stalls door and walls. Overall APNA Bazar is filled with welcoming stores and friendly staff with something for everyone and is kept neat and clean with wonderful smells from all the food in the food court and the smell of exotic perfume from different stores. The only reason this review is not five stars is Apna Indian Restaurant in the food court and the parking lot size and logistics and asphalt TLC issues here. I don't know why it took me so long to walk in to apna bazar. I go to Mi Pueblo #2 often and apna is just right next door. Upon walking in, I am welcomed by the sight of my beloved samosas. I grabbed one of each (vegetable and chicken) and liked the vegetable one better. Though I think Raja's were more crunchy. Will have to go back to make sure my assessment is accurate and fair! Absolutely great to see this place. When you walk in first you are in a long hallway. Then you notice a fresh bakery on your right that bake specialty bread, but straight ahead is a large glass counter chock full of amazing pastries. If you make it past this, fair play to you, but my guess is that even if you do, you'll come back and choose something amazing, as they also make pizzas, entrees and drinks and to the right is a large sit down area to enjoy your choice. If you turn left at the counter you are going to enter a giant grocery store with fresh pita from Village bread which is superb ,but then row after row of tinned, bottled and packaged goods from all over the world. There is also a large butchers area where the butchers will cut the fresh meat in front of you, so you get exactly what you want. The weekend is mad there, as it is packed. So if you can go on a weekday you will have a more enjoyable experience. But it is not called a bazaar for nothing! I expect this is how packed a real bazaar overseas is. Hustle and bustle.
