This is the best grocery store in town for produce and meat. The steaks are the same price as Costco but you don't have to buy a $100 dollar pack and they are aged. Also, they serve some delicious ice cream and food. Hot dog isn't as good as Costco but it is an easy cheap snack after shopping. Wish they would bring back the sandwiches. read more

Some fruits and vegetables are well worth their price. I find them fresh and tasty. However, I will never again buy their steaks, meat, pork or any type of chicken. What I thought was a whole chicken, turned out to be some sort of chicken the hispanic community buys for soups or stews. I baked it and threw it out it was so nasty. I called the corporate office and was told it was not a roasting chicken. How was I to know. Their chicken wings still have feathers on them here and there, again Nasty! They buy their chickens from a farm somewhere in Georgia I believe but the safety of shipping chickens is very important. Once I bought what they said was Mayport shrimp, previously frozen. After opening the package the odor was too strong, which tells me the shrimp is not edible and can be dangerous. If you demand quality, Publix is still the best choice. The staff is totally oblivious. They cannot answer any questions, they will also tell you the same story.."we are expecting a truck anytime now, sorry we ran out" Same line over and over. Guess they are trained to lie to their customers to keep them coming back. I bought eggs, several had two yolks, sorry but that's weird to me. Threw them out as well. The crowds are out of control, they do not care if they block the very small isles, if they push and grab, they are mostly foreign customers as I have noticed the meat, vegetables and fruits are more geared to their culture. That's fine but train your staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. I also find the parking lot littered with trash at times, especially in the grassy areas. Not a class act for sure! read more

So I found this store on TikTok but it was for the Orlando location. After doing some research, I found out there was a Jax location which I was excited to visit. My parents and I went the day before Christmas Eve, so it was packed. I couldn't believe I had not known about this place as I had driven by it so many times. When you walk in, you are hit with an array of fresh produce and wow! Everything in the store in perfectly in order from apples to dragonfruit to a variety of fresh herbs and veggies. They have a great selection of a lot of great local produce and fresh meats. My dad went crazy and was in the zone in the store. The prices here are something you can't beat! One thing I was excited for was the peppered turkey bacon which thankfully was in stock. For the amount we spent here, it would've been at least double or more at Publix. Once we checked out, we went to the walk up window for a nice frozen treat. I got the waffle bowl soft serve ice cream with sprinkles and Oreos. My dad got the strawberry cup, which came with soft serve ice cream, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. The portion size was huge. The bowls are definitely shareable. The menu also had turkey legs and all beef hot dogs. I look forward to our next trip to stock up again on fresh produce and cuts of meat. read more

I had no idea where I was going, but what a treat! I was more in awwww! Just moving here, I had lots of stuff, not just food, but stuff to get. I really need to get back over there soon. I heard, you have to get there early, once stuff is gone, it's gone. I loved all the fresh produce, and the meats. I don't eat a lot of meat, so I didn't really want to stock up on it. I thought most of the produce prices were good. Eggs were higher than Aldi's and cheese around the same as other grocery stores BUT the big difference was checking out! OMG one has to stand in a line of about 30 people as we weave around to get to the 5/6 cashier! There were 10 or so registers just sitting there with no staff! This was a Thursday around 2:30 pm. This place is fantastic! I arrived on a Saturday about 15 before opening. At 5 minutes before opening the parking lot was almost full and there was a line of customers outside the door. The produce is great, looks fresh and reasonably priced. There's a great selection to choose from. The meat... so much to choose from. I bought primarily beef. There's a wide variety and a premium selection. The premium selection is so worth it, amazing quality and delicious. The place is neat and organized. There workers there move with a purpose. The line at the cashier checkout is quick and efficient. I had a great first experience and I look forward to returning and trying additional items. read more

I find the love for this place pretty confusing. It's not a supermarket - they really only have produce and meat for sale. You can't even buy milk. There is a nice variety of produce, but the prices are high - about Publix or Fresh Market level on most things. The meat, however, is generally speaking pretty terrible. The beef is low quality and not well-butchered. The chicken and pork are nothing different from what you can get anywhere else. More importantly, the prices are quite high - you could pay for a Costco membership in one or two shopping trips if this is where you get your meat, and get way higher quality meat than what is available here. Freshfield did have some nice off cuts if that's what you need, but I usually get those for dirt cheap at an Asian market. This place is insanely crowded most of the time, and the staff are strangely hostile - stockers aggressively blocking the aisle, cashiers bring rude. Bonus star for the well-priced hot dog/ice cream stand outside, but this place does not live up to its reputation. read more

Not sure why it took me so long to get here! Wonderful selection and prices. Large variety of fresh produce at low prices, and a huge variety of meats and fish. Chuck roast was 6.99 per pound instead of $10.20 per pound like Publix. Pork, beef, turkey, chicken, fish (including whole fish), as well as tons of fresh fruit (including pink pineapples) and vegetables. A few prepackaged offerings like vegetable slaw at half the price of the major grocery stores. Will plan to stock up next time and freeze some. Will be back. read more

Shoutout to all the local community heroes that keep this venue thriving! Farmers, their families, the workers, staff, and patrons! This venue is so cool! Not only did it have amazing fresh quality produce, meat, eggs, etc... but it also had an outside service area that served refreshing ice cream, turkey legs, and hotdogs! This was like an amusement park for foodies. I had to control myself and not buy like I was never going to be able to come back. The last thing I want to do is waste fruit and veggies because I got greedy. But I am not exaggerating about the eye candy in this place! I have never seen such high quality and quantity of items like fresh ginger, tumeric, green onions, mangoes, and even tamales!!! There's so many varieties of potatoes, apples, oranges, mangoes, and more. The meat is butcher quality and decently priced! The cuts are gorgeous! And eggs are of great supply too. Freshfield Farms always has good selection of meat and seafood also. My ulterior motive to coming to Freshfield was to get us a wonderful smoked turkey leg. To my great DISAPPOINTMENT, the young lady inside said you no longer sell the turkey legs! WHAT????? I was so disappointed. We had to get to ice cream bowls instead. This particular Freshfield Farms is located on University not far off of Interstate 95. The store is very popular for both meat and produce. It should also be noted that a lot of people like the little ice cream stand that sits out front. The prices are competitive, so I have seen better. Some things are a little bit more and some things are a little bit less. We have a Fresh Field Farms in Orlando and the layout of this particular location is a bit different. In Orlando, to produce and the meat department are two separate entities. Here, you can access both in the same area. I would recommend a visit to this location. Again, some prices are okay and some are not. It is up to you to decide which is which. Go check them out. Maybe get yourself some ice cream while you are there. read more

It's been a while since I have shopped here! John suggested we stop for some meats and fresh produce, but he had an alternative motive- soft serve ice cream! They have a little snack window out front with ice cream, hot dogs, sausages and turkey legs! We enjoyed sitting at one of their picnic tables in the sun eating some snacks today. This place is always busy on the weekends! Pros- fresh produce, quality meats, cheeses and seafood. Cons- it's basically a one way stream of people with carts. Not much room to turn around. I suggest going with someone that way they can run back to grab something or watch your cart while you run. Prices are reasonable- but you are buying bigger packages for meats. Great for families, or splitting up for smaller meals to freeze- if you are a smaller household. I may need to make monthly trips back out here! read more

For those who are picky, you can also buy flats or drums separately at a reasonable price. Their baby back ribs are also very affordable. In my opinion, Beef is a bit steep here. I absolutely love the concept and flow of this store because its easy to navigate and everything in the store is stocked almost same day or within the hour you're shopping. You won't need an hour because there is only fresh produce and meat here. I shop here when I need things in bulk for "farm to table" prices. Chicken is very reasonably priced and sometimes you'll even find special cuts of steak like tomahawk and the big slab of flank for steak tacos. I do prefer getting pork belly here vs other groceries only because the meat to fat ratio is just right for pork belly wraps with samjang at home. Freshfield does have a small selection of fresh seafood, mayport shrimp, chilean salmon, scallops, whole snapper ever so often.. if you're a weekend shopper I recommend going early and non Prime hours. Another great thing is they sometimes offer coupons for ice cream which is a nice treat after your grocery list has been checked off. You can redeem the ice cream coupon at their concession stand outside of the market. They also do deli subs which I have not tried but it looks like people enjoy them being on the Go. The produce stock is well kept and I love how in season fruits are what you see first when you walk in like the summer peaches and berries. Citrus like lemons and limes are gold here because a full bag is a few dollars. The juiciest mangos, tomatoes, and citrus live here. Herbs and leafy greens are abundant but sometimes on the weekend they'll go fast! You can also find Eggs, fresh blended nut butters and fresh squeezed juices here. The line goes pretty fast even on a busy day. Cashiers are nice and accomodating and work quickly without giving you the rush out feel. This one is the only one in Jax and the location is right off the freeway and has ample parking. When I shop here my grocery bill runs usually between $30-$125 here on bulk meat choices, greens & herbs, eggs, cheese and fruit. My most recent trip there I did see signs that they were looking to hire and from my multiple trips there I've always had a positive experience. I would definitely recommend someone to look into working for Freshfield. read more

Freshfields Farm is a nice simple shopping experience that really delivers. One of the things I first noticed when walking is is that they have seating outside where you can enjoy some ice cream which they sell there. They also sell big hoagies there. The photos and ice cream sure look inviting so I definitely want to try it next time I am here. Next you will notice their avocados. When I first began coming here last year you the avocados were always ready to eat and carried good value. While the price is similar to Publix the avocado size here is larger usually then anywhere else I have seen in Jax. They have tons of fruits and vegetables and items you don't usually see anywhere else. I was just there a couple of days ago and they had dragon fruit which I haven't seen much outside of Asia. What's next Durian? The prices are all some of the lowest I ever see in Jax and if they are similar or slightly more than the size of the produce and quality makes up for it. For example the red pepper is maybe a tad bit less then Publix, but the quality is top notch. The meat department here is awesome. I buy my chicken breast here because the price is the best and the quality is superb. They have deals on different cuts of meat all the time too. This place can get a little packed depending on when you visit, but they have a fast moving line. You can get in and out of here in about 20 minutes. Freshfields has become a weekly staple of my grocery shopping and I don't see that changing until I leave the city. read more

This is our go to place when it comes to buying meats. Their ribs and chicken are much cheaper than Walmart, Publix, Target and Aldi. Freshfields also has a lot of options. You can buy flat wings only. I have not seen this in other markets. Their shrimp and salmon is also affordable and fresh. I can't say the same for the vegetables and fruits, some are not cheap but you can find exotic fruits such as Dragon Fruit and Rambutan. We bought tilapia fillet before (it says from China) but there was an after taste that we did not like. Another thing we really like is their soft serve ice cream. I personally think they have the best one in Jacksonville. It's super smooth and creamy and for less than $2! Definitely worth coming back! I drove by Freshfield Farm a few times after moving to Jacksonville. I stopped in on a whim one day, and after all of the tasty food I've come by there, I'm certainly glad that I did and have made it a regular stop for meat and produce. When you enter the store, you are immediately surrounded by fruits and vegetables. Prices vary- they might have strawberries about the same price or higher as Winn-Dixie or Publix, or like on a recent weekend when I visited, you might encounter an 8 oz. pack of sliced mushrooms for 25 cents. Yeah, a pack of mushrooms for a quarter, pretty amazing, eh? In any case, the selection of fruits, vegetables, and herbs is outstanding, and in my experience, the quality has been great. When you're finished with the produce section, you enter a section devoted to a plethora of meat. Whatever you want, chances are you will find it here. Obscure cuts of beef and pork accompany all the old standbys you're used to, typically at a fair or low price. The steak I've had has been stellar, but my absolute favorite item I've had so far is their pastrami. Buy it, fry it up and throw it in a sandwich- you will be amazed at how delicious it is! I typically don't get so excited about a market, but Freshfield Farm deserves this praise. It's also sparkling clean, the checkout lines are efficient, and the checkout staff is always friendly and fast. You definitely need to make Freshfield Farm a part of your shopping rotation! And that's not even taking into account the sandwich/ice cream hut outside of the store. Yeah, before or after you shop, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't stop for a roast beef sandwich or an ice cream (I'd skip the pork sandwich, it was ok but nothing special). I decided to stop on the way home from work in search of some pork belly and a lot of changes have happened since I was here last. It felt like it was much bigger than I remember for one thing. You shop as you wind thru the store. The primary reason to come here is for produce and meats. You'll find some honey and a few other items but this is primarily organic and local meat, fruit, and veggies. I found my pork belly and also grabbed some ground round, wings, ribeyes, chicken thighs, and pork chops. It's a no frills store but prices are excellent and checkout is pretty fast.
